I just realized that my phone was like... dead. It turns on and I can synch with it in windows, but the screen is completly black and without image. I can receive calls. Before this I was not able to turn it on. Then it turned on and showed something like ChipID error, then it went black until now. When I plug it to the computer it doesn't seem to be charging (no orange light) I have hardspl in it. Also I didn't do anything special with it, I simply foud the phone like that today, it has been weeks since I flashed a rom or something. Any ideas?

Could be a faulty screen. Have you tried a hard reset
Yeah, I also did some hard resets. I think the screen got damaged at some point when I was unable to turn on the phone. Eventually when it worked it showed some weird error after startup in a message box. After this allways black screen (and no backlit and orange light of charge), also reflashed because the thing is working, it vibrates on startup (after 25 seconds) and plays the htc tune, it enters windows mobile too and I can receive calls but it keeps it all black.
I contacted the customer support of the online store, I will simply ask for a repair or replacement.
Thanks.
Hi Guys, flashed my phone with a Xanny rom months back, the phone has worked faultlessly before & since.
On Sunday i was in the middle of sending a text and the screen froze, i could see everything ok on the screen but the phone didn't respond to my touch. I got it going by pushing the reset button. The phone booted up ok but the screen alignment was out, I then started the alignment process, which went round in circles for 7 minutes, Eventually the alignment finished. Monday i noticed that the more I used the phone the more the alignment skewed out, every time i recalibrated the screen alignment it took ages. I hard reset the phone, it was the same. I flashed a stock orange rom, it was the same.
I admitted defeat this morning and rang orange, as the phone is more than 6 months old they put me on to HTC, its being picked up tomorrow by ups, turn around "should be less than 7 days".
All in all I'm very disappointed, my previous PDA was an HP iPAQ 4700. I used it daily for work & social use for 5 years, with never a problem.
When the touch came along I felt here was a device that improves on the iPAQs screen, so i went and bought one. A bit miffed that it has failed already, I'm a bit OCD with my gadgets so its never been dropped or knocked is always in its custom made padded leather case and has had a screen cover on from new. In fact it is unmarked, i hope it still will be when/if it comes back.
I just need to know he'll pull through !!

Update 13/03/2010
Right just got off the phone to HTC. Not very impressed.
They have quoted me £162 for the repair, It needs a main board as I have "cooked" my ROM, and a digitizer. I had flashed my phone with a xanny rom 6 months ago, but put a stock orange rom in before it went back. How they found out I've no idea, I pointed out to the bloke on the phone (when i could understand what he was saying) that the rom has no impact on the touch screen & could i just have the touch screen replaced and leave the main board, but no the rom is stock now but had been changed before and as such you need a new main board, even though it works fine. Complete b*****ks. When my contract is up I shall not be buying another HTC, fools.
So bugger 'em i say, i've paid to have it sent back, and i've found a digitizer on ebay for £14, i'll fix it myself... Has anyone got a link to instructions on how to take it apart ? if not I'll wing it

its prolly fine, they will prolly just put a new digitizer on it.
***Bump***
before you sended it back did you replace the spl whit the standard one
thats probably the reason how the found out it has been flashed
I have exactly the same problem as D4D. I have never dropped or get wet my phone but 2 days ago while I was typing a message or something I felt that screen does not responds correctly. It was very difficult to unlock my phone and type as well. Hard reset couple of times without success. The phone started normally, the alignment process passes, i have to calibrate more times than usual - 2 to 5 passes but the issue remains.
Then I flashed stock ROM - no improvement, put back the cooked ROM - again no improvement. The phone is still in warranty but I flashed many cooked ROMs on it. So what should I do ?

I am on the stock rom
For a few days my HTC HD2 has behaved strangely. First it has hard reseted by itself. Then the day after in the morning it didn't start after charging all night. And today the screen goes black while I was using it. I tried soft reset and it has vibrated but the screen remained black. I thought it has remained without power but for my surprise a minute later I received a call from a friend. The screen was still black as the phone rang. Strange enough? I tried then hard reset. No luck. The only thing I could see was the HTC start screen logo on a very very dark screen, almost unseenable, then it flickered for a few seconds then the screen has gone totally black.
I did not use any other ROM than the stock one.
I did not installed any program.
I have the phone from january and until now I did not have any problems with it.
I love it for its big screen and I use it mainly for internet browsing.
I will go for warranty. Do you think that it will be replaced or is it something that can be repaired?
I used this phone for 5 months and the screen suddenly has died on me. The phone is in service for 12 days now. They said the screen must be replaced and HTC still hasn't sent them the replacement screen. HTC sucks!
HTC didn't even translate the 1.66 ROM for Eastern Europe so I'm stuck with 1.48. HTC sucks again!
I think after I will FINALLY have my HD2 back from service I will sell it and get that new iPhone.
I am so dissapointed in HTC!
Hello
I have a wired problem with my G2 screen. All was fine till this morning, I was watching a movie on my phone and suddenly the screen started waving a lot and a couple a seconds later it became normal. Some time later the display went up and down and started jumping...so i rebooted the phone and it seemed fine. But it started again. So I fired up recovery and within a second the screen started to dance. Somehow i managed to flash rom but when i was setting up the rom the screen went totally black. However everything is working fine like touchscreen, got detected in my pc and could copy files. I could even take call and talk to the other person by guessing the spot on screen to take call.
[have never dropped or submerged it in water]
I have rebooted the phone many times but the screen is still dead black... Any one any ideas??
Got my S7 Edge for just over a month now, and yesterday it started showing a black screen from time to time when navigating the phone. Note that I haven't dropped the phone, changed anything to it or made it wet. So after the black screen flickering, it only got worse, the black screen appears everytime for like half a second when i touch the screen, and when it gets noticably hot it simply stays black with rainbow lines flashing over the black screen.
Booting in safemode doesn't help. The flickering seems to be reduced just a little when I put it in the charger.. Not sure why.
I feel let down by Samsung (again), and I am bringing it to the service center tomorrow to have it fixed (and trade / sell it when I get it back) but I wanted to make 1 last cry for help on XDA, since maybe someone has a magical solution that will prevent me being without a smartphone for 2 weeks+.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Nothing we can do.
Factory reset phone is your last resort.
