Use Magician as bluetooth skype headset? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

I have a laptop with no microphone, but it has bluetooth. Is there a way that the magician can act as a bluetooth headset for my pc?
In that way i don't have to buy a microphone, and can make wireless phonecalls with skype.
Thanks!

As far as I know, the Microsoft Stack doesn't offer the possibility to work as BT Headset. It can only use BT Headset. I can also not see a possibility in software to configure such a functionality.

Pocket Skype might be able to do what you want. In a round about way.
Run Pocket Skype on your PDA and access the internet via BT through your laptop.....is that possible?

I don't think the data rate would be sufficient.

Yer it is.. bluetooth streams my vids (using myorb) extremly well .. the question is if skype will work with the lame activesync tcpip limitations (media player works and IE but not windows networking arg!)
If anyone has a solution to the windows networking over bluetooth activesync please tell me!

Isidoro

i confirm that skype over bluetooth works perfectly!

Thanks for the suggestion
I will try that as soon as i get home!
The goal is, not only to use skype(or an other voip network) but also to use voice with MSN messenger on my pc trough the microphone of the magician.
Any suggestions for MSN or something like windows soundrecorder (sndrec32.exe).
maybe selecting the 'what you hear' in the recording properties. I guess you'll be hearing an echo if you do that.

orb works great u can even watch video from ur pc and webcam as well... www.orb.com
as of skype, you can use ur bt to activesync w/ laptop, then start using ur skype...np...
btw, I have try it w/ minixda n xda2s 2003se...not w/ wm2005....enjoy

Yup orbs the one i use... it works well but takes up a fair bit of resources on your pc at times.. mp3s stream over the bluesioil stack via windows networking but im going to try this new stack soon (the one just posted about in the magician forum).
Go the mini!! hehe

Since I have Web server configure, I use TCMP player to open media file w/ HTTP. Works greats.

Emulate HeadSet?

Dear All,
I have been for the past 3 weeks trying to know if it's possible to write an
application that would send/receive the phone audio conversation to a pc if
the device is places on the cradel?
What i want to do is to use my pc's mic and speaker as a headset. I was
thinking that this can be done, since a friend of mine has bluetooth on his
laptop, i paired my phone with his laptop via bluetooth, and one of the
services provided was Audio Gateway, and used his laptop's mic and speakers
as a bluetooth headset.
I wonder how this is implemented since i want to do something like that over
the Cradel connection. or any other media as a matter of fact
Your help is really appreciated
Mustafa Rabie
You've got the answer in your post. Simply get a bluetooth adapter that preferably has widcomm drivers (I know they work like this). Set it up as an audio gateway and pair with it, hopefully you should now be able to use it as a headset.
Is there any pc program to emulate the functions of a bluetooth headset like answer the call or reject it, display the caller number?
hi all thanks for your replies:
fruitloaf - i think u didnt get my question. I want to emulate that, i want to write an application on the PPC Phone that when i answer i can capture the audio convo (mic/speaker) and transfere it to the PC maybe via the pass through when the device is on the cradel.
jacusi1980 - i will write an application on the PC that will handel the answering, dialing, rejecting etc. Which also i would like to know how can i control the answering rejecting etc remotely.
Thanks

Skype Through BT Headset... Is it possible?

:?:
Yes it is ! I am using it on my Blue Angel.
How?
Czn you please explain me what's the trick? I can use skype on my Blue Angel... but can't get Skype audio through the headset...
Thanks,
Chris
Okay, I should have been more careful... I thought I had set it up some time ago. Since then I don't really use a headset with Skype (with the phone, yes, but not with Skype since Skype is mainly at home...).
When you replied, I went back to the thing and I have not been able to set it up again:-( If it is possible I haven't been able to re-do it...
Sorry about that.
Skypeheadset
See http://www.skypeheadset.co.uk/
This s/w allows BT headsets to be used for Skype -- BUT its for Windows as of now.
Would be excellent if there's an equivalent for the PocketPC.
cheers,
Patrick

I used a bluetooth headset on skype on the pc you just need to set it up as a headset and make it the default audio device.
that software plugin however looks to do more than just allow you to talk and listen.
but bluetooth headset on the mdaIII well so far it seems that when bluetooth headset connects the audio seems to come in but audio out disappears how long audio in works for i dont know because the person i have tried it with hangs up after a few secs ...
might just be processor speed which is killing the bluetooth connection there is a definate slowdown in responsiveness in the mda III. however if someone wants to experiment I think there is a little prog floating around which will up the clock speed to 477 mhz (used it on my toshiba 740e) which has the same cpu but win ce 2002 ...

Can Magician be used as a bluetooth headset for PC?

HI,
I think this is a very common question and must have been asked before. i did a search but was unable to find a direct topic related to this problem.
I want to use my magician as a headset for PC. I have successfully connected magician to my pc activesync over bluetooth. Now i want to use my magician as a headset device for voice conferencing in Msn or yahoo messengers.
Any way of acheving this?
Thanks
I don't think this is possible. The bluetooth profile is missing and I don't think that any PDA can do this. Get yourself a bluetooth headset and use it together with your PDA and PC.

You should have a 'Connect' button on your headset... check your manual. I have a diferent headset, but on mine I short-press the power button and an icon appears at the top of the screen.
This topic has been discussed quite a bit. Please use the forum's SEARCH feature. It's quite useful at times. AVRCP, for one, will not work unless you're using a media player that actually supports it, such as MortPlayer.
@sesaru
i use this headphones on X01HT too. just bought few days ago. if you want engilish manual for this pm me. push play pause in your headphones then open media player. this will open A2DP music mode (Wireless Stereo). AVRCP works with media player i dont know any other work one. imusic and gsplayer dosent work. if you push dark blue bar button you will open HFP (hands free). i have bad news too. i cant get good quality of sound. there is some noise when i listen music with it. user manual write it can be about 2.4 ghz wireless device. like microwave oven, wireless LAN and cordless telephone. all thing is what tokyo is haven of them. you must be 10m far from all of them. and this is mean i must to go 10m away tokyo to listen clear music. if you get good quality pls write me. i hope all this will help you.
Just to confirm i have these headphones and they work with all my windows mobile devices.
My hermes is WM5 but they work fine with my Universal with WM6
Someone already said it but yeah pushing the play pause button re-pairs them for a2dp. I think sometimes i push it twice to get it to do it.
Hello,
I fixed when I updated to WM6. But sounds is not good, so I installed Widcomm stack. But I have a new problem.
After install Widcomm stack (I have Windows Mobile VI - BLACK EDITION v1.2 but also happended with WM6 for Hermes LVSW Edition), I can't sync via USB. My computer don't detect the Hermes! Is if like I didn't connect to it.
Any idea?

Oh!! I just realised now I can't switch on the phone module of the comm manager (>_<) So It doesn't work; I give up.
Can you post where exactly is the fix for this? I'm reading a lot, but I can't find it ...
Hello,
What I did is this:
I installed WM6 ROM in my X01HT and WC Stack. After That, I did this:
1. Close BT Manager and turn BT off.
2. Open registry (need Resco Registry plug-in) and make the following changes (no need of soft reset after them):
[HKLM\Software\Widcomm\BTConfig\Applications\0001]
Change ComPortNumber from 8 to 7
[HKLM\Software\Widcomm\BTConfig\Services\0001]
Change ComPortNumber from 9 to 6
Rename [HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial8] to [HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial6] and change these subkeys acordingly
"FriendlyName"="Bluetooth Serial Port COM6:"
"DeviceArrayIndex"=dword:00000006
"Index"=dword:00000006
When you have changed this, suspend (off) the PDA for a few seconds and turn it on again. Then goto Bluetooth Settings- Services-Serial Port-Advanced and verify that thet ports that Widcomm is using are 6 & 7
But now I can't switch on the phone App. When I open the Comm App, and push the "Phone" button, it didn't start.
Please, somebody let me know what I'm doing bad.
Thanks
Cesar

Making And Recieving Calls with Computer

Hi all,
I've been trying to figure out a way of using my computers speakers/headset as the headset for my phone.
Basically I work in a shared office and tend to listen to music all day with a closed cup headset and find it quite annoying to take off my headset to receive a call.
I've managed to get my music played form my trinity via A2DP (bluesoleil's audio sink service) to my computers headset, but calls are still left on my device
Is it possible that my computer can act as a headset too? can this be done via USB cable rather then Bluetooth?
Any ideas/pointers would be great!

Looking at my computer bluetooth configuration (WinNT with Widcomm BT stack) I can see that in the list of local services supported by the BT stack there is also the "Headset" profile. Enabling that service and pairing your phone to make it use such service should be what you are looking for but honestly I have never tried myself.
PS: You have a different BT stack so first thing you should do is check if you have "headset" profile in the list of local services... if it is not there then I guess you are out of luck.

Yer, it doesn't look like i have one, might have to try a different bluetooth stack. Shame, bluesoleil looks like a nice simple solution
Thanks for your help
