i thought beams were infra-red?
It is, but Receive all incoming beams needs to be switched on to receive files by Bluetooth as well for some stupid reason!

One confusing problem that i want to solve: When i am connected to the Internet via the "Wireless Modem" application, then i can't receive any incoming call even it is no data transfer over the air(GPRS). Every phone is available for receiving this calls when it is no data transfer active. But my Himalaya not. The other side is ringing to me but i can't see anything. No missed call no incall..nothing. I can lose lot of important calls when i use Internet(WModem) at same time. The problem is the same also for SMS's. Is it some solution of this problem? Or is it somewhere over the net any application that can toggle the call forward to any other phone? I will be greatful for any suggestion. Thanx.
Hi,
Somebody please help me.
Iam not able to recieve any files from anyone using bluetooth. On the senders screen, it discovers my phone but if you send something, it says sending failed. Does this have anything to do with beam option? sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt? Any resolutions..? I have my bluetooth on and on discoverable mode, i have unchecked the pass key option. Please help..
thanks/..

did you enable incomin connection?
IT is all about "Beams". You must be set up to receive Incoming Beams. I know it is confusing as we all assume that is related to InfraRed Beams, but "NO", it applies to Bluetooth as well.
But be warned, with Incoming Beams ticked, it can drain your battery, so I only switch it on when I need to receive a file.
Hi !!
I have just bought a O2 XDA mini and for some reason it just doesnt recieve data from other devices over bluetooth!
i can send ( i am paired correctly!!) data !! but cant recieve data!! the sending bluetooth device always says send failed ... or recieving bluetooth device ( i.e. my xda) is not responding!!!!
i am really getting
anyways i would realy appreciate some help!
i wonder if its something to do with the damn ports!!!
Same problems here. I have tried with Ipaq2210, SEk700i, Nok6230, Samsung600 all paired up ok but file transfer is never a discovered avilable service.
Sending fails whether initiated on wizard or other devices. I believe it is down to the Microsft bluetooth stack as the Ipaq uses widcomm stack and works with all the above phones.
I'm hoping someone will find a reg hack to improve the functionality.
What with no wifi activesync my recent upgrade from Ipaq and K700 to wizard is leaving me feeling cheated.

go to start>settings>connections>beam, and make sure you tick the "receive all incoming beams" option.
i had this problem before and i couldn't recedive any file through bt, but when i checked this i receive anything now, and it shows the "file transfer" profile when i initiate the pairing from another device.
i hope this works for you guys.
cheers.
I've tried to make the reg-hack to activate file reception through bluetooth with OBEX but when I make the soft reset after ther registry mod, the key is again 0 (1 is enable).
Is it possible to activate the receive file profile in TyTN?
hi, I don't know if you are experiencing exactly the same problem as me or if yours is a slightly different issue, however I couldn't receive any files via bluetooth on my brand new Vario II. I could send, but I couldn't receive.
I opened up com2 as a new incoming port on my bluetooth settings and voila - suddenly it worked.
Don't ask me why!
Thank you MrLeoni for your reply.
I've done what you suggest but I still can't receive files through bluetooth.
I think that this is a basic feature in a PocketPC.
Any idea?

Click to collapse
did you try to check: start -> settings -> connections tab -> beam -> receive all incoming beams ?
worked with me, i don't need to do any reghack to receive files via BT.
Thank you very much eva_d.
Your suggestion works fine. The problem was that "receive all incoming beams" was disabled.
I used to disable this because I thought that when this is enabled, infrared receiver is working and wasting battery, so I used to disable.
After set this option, I've revised the reg-hack about OBEX and I've seen that is 1 (enabled), so the conclusion is that disabling "receive all incoming beams", OBEX is disabled.
Thank again to everyone who has help me. Problem solved.
Sorry for my bad english.
After searching the forum and other websites for a few day's i dare to write a posting.
I'm trying to use a german XDA Neo as an analog modem for incoming calls to my (Windows) notebook.
I managed to use the "Standard Modem over Bluetooth" and the "HTC USB Modem" to establish outgoing connections from the notebook and there is no problem with reciving incoming modem calls with the build in notebookmodem.
However, when i try to recive incoming modemcalls with the "HTC USB Modem" the Phone rings on and on and nothing happens. (Any Radio-version)
When i try it with the "Standard modem over Bluetooth" the phone rings twice befor it's answerd. Unfortunatly the call will not be transfert to the notebook. Instead the phoneapplication will be started on the pda just as if i had picked up a normal voicecall (Radio-version 2.47.21 and 2.61.21) - or the Phone will ring twise and then drop the call (Radio-version 2.19.21, 2.20.21, 2.30.21 and 2.69.21)
It seems to me that setting up the notebook to recive incoming calls on the nluetoothmodem manages to answer the incoming calls but after that the PDA handels the call as a usual voicecall - not forwarding it to the notebook.
Is it possible to recive incoming modemcalls somehow?
Is there a way to create the missing function?
Is it possible to realize what i want using WM6 or do i have to wait for OpenMoko?
Thanks in advance and apologies if there is a solution written somewhere else and i just couldn't find it.
