After 2 emails to O2 my care they confirm that you can only have free GPRS on Imode phones not Exec. I feel this is very missleading on their behalf and am thinking of contacting watchdog and trading standards re the matter.
...I have been confirmed the opposite. The deal is for the Exec and includes 3G/GPRS. This was from both customer services and a customer services manager. Still awaiting it in writing though...
Edited to add: anyone know what "Welcome browse and download 5 MB" is? If I check My Bill -> Unbilled Usage -> Unbilled Summary on the o2 website, I get my inclusive minutes, inclusive text and the "Welcome browse and download 5 MB" line. It says I have 5120 remaining this month, which would mean my data used so far hasn't come out of it which would indicate that 3G/GPRS is indeed free as I've been told. or not...???
I confirmed this with O2 sales and Customer service.
Have asked Customer Service to leave a note on my account to show that i have confirmed this before using the service. She did warn me that this can be taken away if we use it to much....Fair Useage Policy.
The other question to them was how do I get updated ROMs.
As I don`t want to use to use the iMate ROMs unless I can confirm that my warrenty won`t become invalid.
Reply from O2 is as follows:-
Thank you for contacting O2 Customer Service.
I am sorry for any confusion that may have been caused. The free GPRS and i-mode browsing is available to the customers who buy an i-mode phone on a 12 or an 18 month contract with us.
You have not purchased an i-mode phone on Pay Monthly contract but your tariff entitles (Online 200 Talker; 18 month contract) you 5 Mb of free GPRS data download for first thirty days of your contract. After these 30 days GPRS allowance will reduce to 1 Mb.
I think the amount listed on your phone bill is Kb not MB. It shows 5 MB and splits it to Kb afterwards.
seems like they are very confussed....
They tell me one thing
Tell you another..
Maybe becuase I`m on a Online500(12 month) contract.
I think they don't seem to know themselves. Either could be right. I'm hoping yours is correct as it was the free browsing that swung it for me to go with O2.
Me too
I signed up to online 100 but had the message telling me as i put the order through saying that i would have free gprs untill end 2005. i have heard this same case for every1 that has signed up the same contract :?
It is in black and white (see below) that free GPRS is included. I'm still trying to get confirmation that 3G is also included. Customer services keep telling me it is - I keep asking for written confirmation. They keep sending me ambiguous confirmation, I keep asking for proper clarification. It goes on...

Excatly,
The details from the above picture were in my email to customer care who came up with the reply about only for Imode phones . That's why I mentionded calling trading standards. I have re emailed O2 and asked them to esculate the matter to a manager before I take thinkgs further but I don't want to use it too much and get a hefty bill in the meantime.
I can assure you that the free GPRS browsing is only for I-Mode users.
Im sure that O2 are aware of thier mistake and are going to rectify thier website. However unfortunatly we are not entitled to it im afraid!

Well I could be wrong but I think under trading law that they have ot honour it if they have sold it as such. They have offered advertised and offered for sale a tarriff which states free browsing.
I wonder how many people will run up a huge bill because of their error?
I think maybe customer service may not have been made aware of the new promotion.
But at the end of the day I have confirmed this at every stage.
1 = Sales rep from O2onlineShop when he sold me the phone.
2 = Customer service when I wanted to sign-up to insurance.
3 = Printed and saved the website witht he promo info.
This offer may only be for customers who buy online.
As the O2shops & customer service wasn`t made aware.
And the only people in the know are the Sales reps from O2onlineShop.
Consider that O2 haven`t removed or reworded the offer.
Starting informing customers of the error or stopped signing new customers up.

Actually... under the sales of goods act, you've got o2 over a table.
I`m more worried about support and updates for my O2 XDA Exec.
Everyone seems to be using these iMate ROMs that people are so kindly sharing. But the result is that you`ve invalidated your warrenty and O2 will no longer support the device.
But O2 haven`t release a updated and I`m finding it hard to get any confirmed information from them.

I'll ask at work tomorrow. I work for o2.
Many thanks "trapper"...
I understand that they are working on a new ROM release but don`t have a date as yet......
But they haven`t got any method for users to report what the issues & problems they are having.
I finally got some information from a person from the O2 shop that said if I change the install to "Basic" this will make the Exec alot more stable untill the release an updated ROM....But no date as yet.
With so many XDA users...I would have thought O2 would have set up a support website or helpdesk...."Trapper" can you find out about this..
many thanks again.

We do provide the software updates for the Xda. The O2 Xda Exec is a newly
launched mobile phone so we do not have the software updates for this mobile
phone on our website www.my-xda.com.
We will be updating our website soon.
An update.
I have been waiting for written confirmation and finally received this reply:
Thank you for contacting O2 Customer Service.
The unlimited free GPRS and i-mode browsing until 31st December 2005 promotion is only available to the customers who have purchased an i-mode handset with the Pay Monthly contract. I am sorry that the information on our website about this promotion is not clear. I have raised a feedback for this issue with the relevant department.
You have received the "Welcome Browse and download" Bolt On with your new order, which gives you gives you 5 MB free GPRS allowance for one month. This Bolt On was added to your account on 12 October 2005 and it will be automatically removed on 12 November 2005. The 3G GPRS usage will be included in the free GPRS allowance.
You are on the 18 month Online 200 tariff with 'Talker' option. To view the details of this tariffs please click on the link below:

My response it as follows:
Thank you for taking the time to send me detailed information. I do appreciate it.
Unfortunately, it seems to be at odds with information I have been given by O2 customer service representatives on two prior occasions and with your pre-sales team I contacted before becoming an O2 customer. I am sure you will have this information on my file. I am therefore unable to accept your response that the unlimited browsing is only available to those who purchased an iMode handset. When purchasing on-line it was quite clearly stated in black and white that this offer was valid for my purchase. I have a screen capture (shown below) which quite clearly shows you advertising this promotion for XDA Exec's purchased on-line.-
(image pasted here)
I have been using GPRS and 3G GPRS data since starting my contract with O2 in good faith that I was entitled to the promotional offer as advertised.
I ask that you escalate this to a manager to resolve, because as far as I understand it you are now rescinding your promotional offer. I am sure that we can come to an amicable agreement on this matter and that Trading Standards will not need to become involved.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards.

We shall see. I'm happy with the Exec, I'm happy with O2 reception, speed of getting through to customer services, tariffs on offer etc. I don't wish (or have time) to be a pain, but this will cost me a lot in data usage so far

clearly says " Unlimited free GPRS and i-mode browsing until 31st December 2005 (compatible handset required)"
although from reading this forum , appears thats not the case - so I emailed / called them and was told - only applies to i-mode phones, well if thats the case why list it on nrmal tariff and not under "imode "
instead I get 5mb for first month, then 1mb pm thereafter
Not happy ! - 5mb may be enough for a small gprs /wap, but not for html browsing on a pda ( which I had inctended to link to laptop)
i got a similar email reply to this myself today:
New customers receive the 'Welcome Browse and Download' offer, which gives 5 MB free GPRS allowance for the first 30 days. This offer is not for existing customers.
The unlimited free GPRS and i-mode browsing until 31st December 2005 is only available to the customers, who have purchased an i-mode handset with the our new Pay Monthly tariffs.

they have received enough queries about this by now that they surely must be aware that the page is misleading? and yet, they are still selling Exec's online with the 'unlimited free gprs' claim on the page.
grrr.... if only O2 weren't the only ones doing the Universal in black :-(
Just mention advertising standards and I'm sure they will wave the charge for you.
Watchdog is another good way to lubricate respone machinery too! Also, you could contact Which.
The C/S is awful... first email did not answer questionjust said 5Mb....
call... afrer pulling up webpage said " oh yes I see what you mean".. at first agreed to add it, then after checking, said no - but admitted I wasa right
My complaint email ... asking for reinstatement of offer or a small ( in comparison financial rebate) .. their reply just repeats their 1st email, not answering question/ complaint
I will follow this up (This offer is potentially worth 2.3 months x £75 = £172 !! ) ,
even their telephone C/s & an email reply seems to agree that advert is misleading, but only couple of small offers ( £10 / 4mb extra gprs for a minth!)- still not happy - they said case now with complaints dept
I have had mine about a week and it says on my bill I get 5mb free (though I e-mailed and asked and was told it was unlimited).
My bill shows no record of me using any of my 5mb - even though I should have used about that. Maybe they are not charging after all. If they do, they can sing for their money
My online bill also states that I get a "Welcome browse and download 5 MB" but on the used to date column, the value is still zero when I've blatantly used it. Very odd.
I was looking forward to unlimted GPRS till the end of the year!
Re; Free GPRS
Hi, I have an online account with o2 and pointed out to the customer help line the URL detailing the "Unlimited free GPRS and i-mode browsing until 31st December 2005 (compatible handset required)". After having a word with his line manager not once or twice but three times! They agreed to add a note to my account stating that I would be reimbursed for any GPRS usage between now and 31st December.
Hope this helps?.. “if you don’t ask.. you don’t get!”
Just spoke to C/S on the phone and they stated that it's just for I-mode phones.... Boo!
Might email them and mention trading standards etc..
Re: Unlimited Free GPRS and i-mode.. lol
I had the very same argument with them. It says "GPRS and i-mode" I just kept referring back to their website details. Took three attempts for them to agree, it's very misleading! Hum?.. Accidental?.. Who knows?.. But they haven’t changed it yet!
I'd be cautious about trusting O2's online bill and account data. iirc, there was a mention on news://uk.telecom.mobile just a few days ago complaining that the online data usage information was at least a month out of date...
I have phoned the O2 help previously when I was using the O2XDAIIs and the call centre said "its free so use it" - I did - and to date I have never been charged, now I have the Exec (second device with its own number) I have been using GPRS quite heavily - and await my second bill - the first showed no G3 traffic charge - I will phone when I get chance but to date O2 has not cost a penny above the normal line charge - the advert on the web does state "free" and that means no charge in anyones opinion - Mike
Totally agree with you Mike ,
As I read that others were being told , " its not free" , and given its something like £3 per mb on my tariff , I thought ( perhaps stupidly! ) that I ought to check , as rather not be arguing a £1500 bill for 1.3gig download ( which I would had done if also connected to my laptop)
I am having the same problem in getting my free GPRS/3G data. See this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=30817&highlight= for details. I have now received a further email saying they are unable to read my screen-shots - which are in JPEG format! They also STILL have not encalated my query to a manager even though three of my emails have asked them to do so. I will send a further response today, asking for a resolution by the end of the week or I will be taking this matter further - otherwise I can see them delaying until end of December....I wonder why...
If they agree to reinstate , I will expect the offer to extend further than 31/12/05 to cover the time I am been unwilling to use ( at risk of fees)
-
I have given them numerous alternative's that I will accept as a repalcement of this offer.
just rec'd this
I can assure you that it is our aim to provide the highest level of customer service and we are always concerned to hear if we have failed to meet your expectations. O2 regret that you feel that you have not received the high standard of service, which our customers have come to expect from us.

cheers ( I think.. your typing is as bad as mind)
It took 2 calls and about 6 emails to get anywhere - finally ended up with
Complaint Resolution Dept
actually after using the set for a few days , think I would prefer a cash settlement as no 02 3G signal, but guess I can't have it all !
Next part of the saga
---
Sent an email to them , suggesting that as I did not have the free GPRS for 8 days, and it took 6 attempts ( calls/ web forms / emails) befo0re it was resolved , perhaps I should receive a token of compensation
( I also pointed out that under their terms 8.3 / 8.4 I felt I was actually entitled to terminate contract early as it took themn more than 7 days to correct their error. -Petty maybe , but thought a good bargaining position ------ This is not the same as returing phone under 14 day period)
Now get a reply stating ....
As told in our previous emails, the free GPRS promotion is available to the customers who have purchased an i-mode phone. As your phone is not an i-mode phone, you are entitled to 5.0 Mb free GPRS access until 31 December 2005.

Both Brand New Unlocked (Working in UK.. No Scams or Claims) Sim Free
I'm looking around £600 - £550 For them. Boxed, Manuels Chargers etc.. Brand New.
I bought them just for the Contract and will be using the Contract for Business, but the Handset is just too Complex for a Young Professional. Looking for Quick Sale so that i can afford a New Pay as You Go.
Thanks
Any Questions Please E-mail me @ [email protected]
But these are available for around £400 from O2 online! £600/£550 seems high. Just a suggestions.
You Really think they are High?
Let me Tell you why i think it's worth more then the ones on ebay.
Firstly Ebay is Unreliable and Transactions can i longer then you expect.
I have a Ebay Account but i don't want to reach out to on buyers and time wasters. A also have many Positive feedbacks too if you don't think i'm trustworthy check out USER ID: veryvalentine! All Positive Feedbacks
What you get From Ebay!
You pay for what you get.. U pay 400 on ebay Fine. But after 2months how would u feel when that phone feature, gprs, and internet stops working and when u call up for help from O2 they tell you that u have been cut off, cuz the seller on ebay made a Claim on the phone. U spend 400 on a Duff Handset.. Won;t be proud of the XDA Exec anymore are you.
What You get from Me!
I use the Contract for Business.. I'm a Young Professional and i have no reason to make a claim on the phone.. I don't need money but only wish to make money to cover my tariff for the year. Hence i took out the most expensive / Wanted Phone on the market. Yes It's a Great phone and good for Business users but i bit too complex for me.
I'm After a Quick Sale and looking for buyers that are willing to pay for Quarenteed Working Phone in the UK! As i said i need the phone for Business use.
I WILL NOT MAKE A CLAIM AND I WILL NOT SCAM YOU!
Please E-mail me for more info.

Umm... all Execs are unlocked
I can buy an Exec with a contract for £360, including the purchase costs and all monthly charges for the contract's minimum term. Why pay £600???
£600 pah
£600 is a rip off.....i have one too and i dont need the money either but be sensible they are worth £400 - £450 max for people that dont want a contract....get real mate, there are plenty of people out there (including me) that may want to sell it for cash and are in fact not rip off merchants and wont claim on the handset!.....
For a Start as i Said before.. Not everyone wants a Contract and if your looking for a Simfree Phone then that is the Price to pay! 650 Brand New Boxed etc.. yours are probably used.. my is still Sealed
Secondly I Ship internationally.. not everyone would..
SiliconS why are u posting on here when i just said that it's OFF Contract!
Yes! U can get it cheaper with Contract but am i selling u a Contract? No! So why u posting a 360 pound price when u know they are worth more then that sim free..

If u already have one then why are u still looking for One? Are u not Content with the Price u paided for your one? Get Real M8? Erm.. Am i not selling it Simfree Cheaper then other Mobile phone Companys? Do they ship Internationally? Is it cheaper Internationally? You Already sound like a Rip off Merchant and Yes Including you would want to claim on another handset. I would go the lengths of showing u my Insurance Policy before selling u the phone if u like that i never took out insurance with the phone.
I think what people are trying to say is that if you want it SIM free then buy it from 02 on contract (use the student link - they dont check to see if you are a student).
That means the phone is £114.99.
Select the lowest contract - £19 p/m (19 x 12 is £228) so the phone costs you £342.99.
If you want the contract - great. If not, phone 02 and tell them you want to terminate the contract and they will charge you for the months you have not paid (i.e 12 x 19).
Total cost of phone = £342.99!
Now, you can probably only buy from 02 if your in the UK. So, if our seller wants to charge people £500+ then I am sure some poor sod in Australia, USA, Phillipeans etc will probably pay it.
If Your Not looking to Buy. Please Don't Waste yours/my Time. That is my Price £600 - £550 (GBP) If u Don't like it. Don't buy it!
I'm looking for a Quick Sale! No Time Wasters!
Thanks!
Exec for sale
have you found a mug to buy your phone yet I would like to thank the other posters on this topic as had it not been for their input I would have probably paid your extortionate price. I have instead got my Exec from 02 for much cheaper. if you still have not sold it I suggest setting a realistic price.
Did you get student discount
If you got the student discount from O2. Please tell me how as i cannot find the link.
Hi,
Follow this link for the 02 Student discount. No ID required.
02 XDA - £114.99
your mad
I will just add my comments for future prospective buyers, I dont want to afford anymore time or credence to respond to her original post. This post is for the benefit of all,
The best offer by far seems to be the O2 student deal as mentioned by many.
-Yes the phone is unlocked
-Yes the TOTAL cost is around 370
-Yes you get a full gaurantee
-Yes this cost is after settling the full years contact
...which actually makes this phone without a conract
So unless val is offering a gold plated version, what I am saying is you would be mad to buy of Val! and I agree this is not really a buy and sell forum.

As other posters have said, you're charging almost double what it would cost to buy the damn thing and pay off all contract charges, so I'm still posting because I still haven't heard your justification for the spectacular price you're asking.
This is not a forum for greedy eBay sellers to rip people off. This is a technical forum where owners of these devices try to help each other by working together to make the devices work perfectly. You're an eBay seller - piss off back to eBay and do your scamming there. We don't need you thanks, as the various replies to your advert should have told you by now.
On these forums we help each other. We're not here to make money.

So you're selling your XDA Exec for £550-£600 so people that have failed the O2 credit check can still have an XDA Exec? Now everything is perfectly clear. Good luck!
I think it is too expensive, I just buy it from O2 shop with GBP 530 (include post fee)by my friend that in UK. I'm using device in HK now. All Exec is Unlocked. 550-600 pounds, it's a big big joke.....................................................

Dude, furk off and stop trying to rip people off around here. And yeah I am poor and can't afford an Exec Sue me, lamer.
At last, O2 have joined the civilised world (maybe as a result of sustained lobbying by members of various forums such a this) and has launched an "unlimited" bolt-on browsing package!
This supplements the inclusive data allowances already forming part of O2 tariffs, namely:
512kb for high-street Tariffs (100kb if inclusive munites are less than 600 pcm), and
1Mb for online Tariffs,
In addition, a package is available for use with data cards.
Ok - to the "unlimited" data bolt-on...which O2 have dubbed "O2 Web" - the data card option is known as "O2 Max".
So, why the quotes surrounding 'unlimited'? Well, it's not actually unlimited....a fair use policy of 200Mb applies, only time will tell whether this will be sufficient, but it's hardly unlimited. I've read posts by Orbit users stating that 20Mb per day is not unusual, this would take people past 600Mb per month, so this allowance looks somewhat stingy in that case.
The good news:
- at £7.50 per month this is better news for O2 customers,
The bad news:
- 200Mb still is not competitive (when compared to, say, T-Mobile web'n'walk, which has a 1Gb Fair Use limit),
- "O2 Web" is available only to 'April 2007 or later' Tariff customers. Everybody else is warned that a Tariff change may be required.
Further details are to be found at http://www.o2.co.uk/mobilestariffs/tariffs/consumerdatabolton.
As a pre-April 2007 O2 Customer myself, I'm going to give Customer Services a call and "see what I can do"...
Obviously this is for the iPhone, the total cost (including full term line rental and purchase price) of which btw will be £900, which is insane. £900 for a mobile phone that doesn't even have 3G or let you install any software applications on it, lol!
All I can say is thank god for T-Mobile
I use between 200 and 600MB of data per month, mostly from remote desktop (terminal services) sessions to my home PC from work, with my phone (HTC Universal) acting as a 3G modem

That is way below the 1GB+ that T-Mobile allow on my WnW PRO plan.
This move from O2 is a lot better than Orange, and definitely better than nothing, but nowhere near as good as T-Mobile. 200MB is quite pathetic in this day and age. But with O2's crappy network, you'll be lucky if you can manage even 10MB in a month <G>

Actually, no. iPhone users get a "special" contract which prompted many customers (myself included) to barrack O2 about how they were going to translate this 'unlimited' provision to existing non-iPhone customers. The "O2 Web" package is a bolt-on to existing voice/text Tariffs.

Already done 10Mb in a month - paid for it too! I don't use the same volumes as you, but I for one am relatively happy at this development.
I just called O2 about applying this to my account (currently i have the 5mb bolt on which costs £4). However they cant apply this to my tarrif as I have an old tarrif
The thing is I dont want to switch tarriffs as none of their current tarrifs come any where near my exisiting tarrif. Did you have any luck apllying the bolt on to your 'old tariff' ?

Yes. Absolutely. The nice young lady transferred my "old" Tariff to the (identical) "new" Tariff - without re-starting my contract - and is then exchanging my 4Mb bolt-on for the 'unlimited' bolt-on. She's ringing me back in the next 72 hours to confirm that the changes have been applied.

the problem I have is there is no 'new equivelent', at the mo I get...
1000 mins
150 texts
1 mb browsing
all for £35 per month, WITH A £15 monthly discount, so the whole shabang costs me £20 per month!!!!!
and right now I pay £5 per month for the data bolt on. O2 have been trying to get me off this tarrif for years.

yeah I know, it is a great tarrif, dont know how much longer they will let me hang on to it
has anyone gone over this 200 mb limit, what happens? do you get charged or do they stop any data after this limit.
i would totally subscribe if o2's gprs was even half decent. i cant update any weather applications/windows live due to the http problems, i can just about browse the web (slowly) if i enter wsp:// before every site i want to access.
whats up with that?
O2 GPRS
Actually I get a decent GPRS connection at home and EDGE (yes I know its no were near HSDPA speeds) in London. I've been able to get mail through MS Exchange and browse web at decent speeds on opera mobile - bbc news only takes a few seconds to load with all the pics and flash, etc!. Although i totally agree, I've only been using it for a week or so and the only reason I'm not over the limit already is because I try and connect over wifi where possible. I reckon in this day and age they should have edge as a minimum everywhere and 1gb or 2gb minimum...my monthly email (without images, just text) goes over 200mb, loll. Isnt web'n'walk only available for contact customers? I heard that vodafone don't charge you over a pound for upto 15MB usage, but there was a way to get around that so it would end up being £1 for 2 weeks or something, but you have to reset some setting daily :s

Didn't realised about the fair usage policy and downloaded a file more than 300Mb. Received a call from o2 next day and got warning letter in few days later.
O2 didn't say that there's a fair usage policy in their web on "unlimited" when i signed a new contract with them.
hey i got actual unlimited data on o2!!! i was monitoring my data because i wasnt hitting a limit or getting a message from o2. apparently when the guy unblocked something at customer service he removed the 200mb thing on my a/c
Better not be 200MB, I decided to go with O2 on the basis theirs was unlimited, looking in the T&c of the bolt on theres no mention of a 200MB limit and I was assured that it was infact unlimited as long as you don't try and use it for a modem. (which is fair enough)
I could have gone with Vodafone and got pretty much the same amount of minutes and texts with 500mb of browsing for the same money but I didn't want to risk getting a large bill if I went over.
With all the horror stories, and rumors going around about TMO saying this and TMO saying that ...
And all the stories about how many returns the HD2 has had ..
I thought I would start a thread to share Customer care Triumphs and Horror Stories ...
The info we share may help someone who needs to deal with them in the future ..
-----------------
So Far I have had very good experiences with customer care, the trick is to ask for the smartphone department right off , they seem to actually know what you are asking then ....
It is now Stuck.
I was travelling internationally and wanted my account to be suspended as well as my HD2 to be unlocked.
They did it without any fuss at all! Incredible considering I still have not made the complete payment on the phone! I was hardly with t-mo for 10 days at that time.
And, the CC people were pretty good and (I always use the online chat as I need to call them from out side of the US) they were pretty good on the chat too!
A BIG thumbs up to T-Mobile!

Yeah overall TMO has pretty good CSR's ...
Never had any issues with TMO CC. I've always got the best deals available to me.
Best advice I can give to anyone dealing with customer care is be nice and never yell at them. And never act like you are entitled to anything. Also customer service reps can not make android appear on your phone no matter what they tell you.

I agree...and they have always been great with me and always did what they could even when it comes to back dating services to save me money! Saving money is always a plus!
My first horror story with T-mobile was and maybe still is..... I have 3 lines with t-mobile my moms,gf and mines I always use my moms upgrades since I always buy my moms S60 unlock devices shes loves Geeky stuff as well. So I got the HD2 with my moms upgrade So after 2 months I notice Data services going up so I called Customer Care telling them why my moms plan was up 25.00 bucks? and they told me she was using a HD2 and I said No I have the Hd2 and I used her upgrade. So there was a big drama where they put a new rule that you cant use another upgrade and use it in another line with out paying the data plan. I was lucky and I got them to lowered the data and change it back to were it was at before and return me the money paid for the data. Now the bad part now I cant Use my moms upgrade anymore to get new High end Phones and im shocked that t-mobile will turn down money and 2 year slavery contract away. The bad part for them Im just going to buy unlock devices with t-mobile 3g and lower my data plan to 5.99 or 10.00 bucks which turns out to be cheaper but I think T-mobile its doing bad having this rule and it all started after the big request of HD2s

I am a 5 yr. T-Mobile employee. And ya its kinda a tough policy that you fell within. You see when you use your upgrade for any smartphone/data device with a 2 yr. contract, a data plan is required for the length of the contract. (same as at&t, verizon, sprint etc.) So in your case you upgraded on Moms line, so Moms line has the contracted data plan, even though you are using it on your line. (I know, trust me it's a somewhat flawed policy that I'm hoping someday will be changed or a little more lenient) There are a few alternatives, instead of having the required data plan you can opt for the cheaper required messaging plan, or there's also a new required phone first data plan (tmobile web/wap) thats a cheap option for symbian S60. You have to have a required feature, but having lower cost choices hopefully helps.

I understand T-mobile Needs to make its money but it doesnt make sence I can go Fully unlock on any device pay 10.00 data on every line rather than 25 and I end up saving more money and contract free and the freedom to leave any time I want (not that I am at the moment) I call it some what bad business since If I was in charge I rather have people lock down in this 2 year plans and be my slaves than pushing this 20 25 data cost that as the phone market keeps growing and growing and data plans keeps getting cheaper you wanna have people lock down on two years especially now that people are been more aware of unlock devices. back in 2003 2006 nobody knew what was a unlock device.
I love T-Mobile CC
T-Mobile CC has never given me any problems. In fact, if you have been one of their customer customers for over 5+ years, they acknowledge your commitment and consequently provide special phone deals and options.
LOL

you can even switch to their even more plus plans if you're willing to pay unsubsidized prices for a phone... saving you even more per month without the need for a contract.
but as long as you choose to receive subsidized handset pricing, you have to have the data plan attached to the phone, as per the contract requirements, so they eventually make up the phone's discount.
tbh, i really dont understand how people still actively choose a contract plan on tmo instead of their non-contract even more plus plans. yes, you pay more upfront since the devices arent subsidized, but you will end up saving money after 2 years. most likely it's because people cant afford the device at full retail price upfront, but the EM+ plans allow for the device's cost to be split up over 20 months without interest.
basically, tmo offers customers a chance to save real money and without a contract, yet most of them actively choose to NOT save money simply because of the lure of the words "discounted price". personally, i think it's hilarious to see people screw themselves.
and i lurve, lurve, lurve my tmo service. i'm a fanboy of very few things, but t-mobile, especially once they started offering the even more plus plans, made me a fan. i have also never had a problem with their CS. they're always polite and i never have a complaint since my bills are always right.
edited because the n symbol was cutting off my words
3 weeks ago today and still nothing. I've rung them up and they don't have an update when it will be in stock. They just keep saying they will ring me when it arrives!!! So annoying, has anyone else pre-ordered the phone from an EE store?

Maybe 7th March and then 15th March and 29th March, three times confirmed by EE staff that they would ring me when the phone comes in stock...still waiting.
3 weeks? I went to my local ee and picked one up on Saturday. Also when I was speaking to the operator via 150 they said they have stock.
My one is still boxed and I want to sell mine, what is the going price and is it locked to ee?
I don't think EE phones are locked, I know every t-Mobile phone I have had has been unlocked.
3 Weeks is a long time and its a little pathetic that they can't even give me an update or an estimate on a delivery. I'm only going this to get the phone, as i'm doing the swap to EE from t-mobile as there is no cancellation fee on my current plan which has a year and a half left on it. I get the phone and sign up to a contract of the same price, paying just the cost of the hand set which will be £29 i've already paid £20 deposit so I will only have to pay £9 or £9.99, can't remember if it was £29.99 or £29 lol. Surely I should get the phone delivered this week!!!!
T-Mobile/ EE lost my custom when they started selling my info despite me ticking the box telling them 'do not share my information'.
Twice they done this, during the last 18 months their phone service become a joke when you call 150. You cannot speak to a human unless you threaten to leave!
I had an old flext tariff and I had unlimited internet/ data and that should be unlimited no stealthy data cap! 3 months in a row until I threatened them with Ofcom they tried capping me telling me I had exceeded my data usage.
When my contract was not quite due for renewal I thought I would take advantage if the deal/ offer they were advertising that I could opt out early if I call 150. So I call the number and go to upgrades, you go through the automated system to receive a text telling you that you ain't ready for an upgrade!
More infuriating is trying to talk to someone in a shop about it?
EE wanted me to pay a deposit for the HTC One if I wanted to reserve a handset with them but would not give me a time frame, I walked out of there into O2 next door asked the same question and they placed the phone in front of me!
I still have @ 90%+ of the signal I had and I can talk to humans!
EE/ T-Mobile sucked balls.

That one I do not know. Lol I've always had unlocked handsets. Not because I have numerous Sims. But because of the software variants.
Am I allowed to offer my phone for sale here?
I ordered mine from Carphone Warehouse, as with the £41 plan it is £69 from EE and free from Carphone Warehouse. Ordered on Saturday the 4th of May. Arrived yesterday on the 7th of May. Considering monday was a bank holiday it was really quick.
I was on Vodafone before that with serious data issues. Would be getting below 100kb during work hours. Now, well, here is a screenshot I took this morning outside Blackfriars Station:

Well its still not arrived, if I cancel i'll lose my deposit, I still have 17 months left on my t-mobile contract hence why I wanted this deal.
It will have been a month on Monday since I pre ordered and the deal was hand in One X and pay the cost of the new phone.
I've just looked at the new Terms and Conditions and they now want a £99 up front fee and my old One X + Cost of New Hand set.
Surely I won't have to pay the £99 as I pre-ordered under the old T&C?

Awesome speed there
EE took 3 weeks to send me a 4g sim card when I switched from Orange to EE on my one. Rang them many many times and they said in the end they'd sent it to the wrong delivery company, maybe they've done something like that.
Once you get on EE you won't be disappointed I get 56mb download speeds at home.
Definitely ring them up to discuss your problem!!

Not trying to troll or anything, but what use do you find having a 56mb download speed on a phone? What do you use it for, especially at home, I took my one on o2 because of the EE cost of tariff and upfront, but I have 20mb WiFi connection at home, and I don't do anything on my phone that utilises anywhere near that....
Really curious about what LTE is bringing us here in the UK, even with cutting edge handsets..... So wanted someone who actually has one on a LTE contract to tell me what I am missing out on
Thanks

Hey there, yeah you're right I don't use it at home I have perfectly good Internet there. However I'm a heavy user, stream a lot of hd video and do a lot of tethering to my laptop while on the move. 4g coverage is very good around my area - London obviously!
I understand what you mean the prices are expensive! But I got a good deal from EE upgrading from Orange and they doubled my data for free. I think if fast 3g coverage was more reliable and had better coverage across the country the 4g would have no real selling point but I'm happy with my 4g and it certainly is nice when tethering!
