Outlook isnt your default MAPI client, go to Options, Programs in Internet Explorer and set Outlook as your default mail client

It is a try - but ...
all settings are set for Outlook. Outlook 2002 reports as default mail client and Internet Explorer also for each category. Thanks for your information.

I found with a previous device I had to install Office XP's service pack for Outlook 2002 to sync correctly, if its not already installed try that

I had the same problem. When I 1st setup the partnership I selected to sync contacts, appointments etc but upon completion... no contacts on device! As you say the contacts option was greyed out and could not be enabled.
In my case starting another sync session (unplug/replug usb cable) cleared the grey out box and allowed me to re-check the contacts option :?:
Wierd but same thing happened after a hard reset that I had to do last night... All seems fine now.

Activesync alyways syncs my deleted Items from the desctop.

Hi!
A few days ago I realized that my AS 3.8 takes a lot of time to syncronise with my desctop. I found out that for some reason it started to sync all of my deleted items from my desktop. (more than 2500 emails)
It does that each time I sync. In the email-settings of my MDA II I said under options: "remove deleted items - immediatly".
But it keeps doing the same thing.
Does anybody have an idea how to make it stop syncing that folder?
THX!!
i'd be interested too
i would try and look in pc's activesync settings
under tools and options you can change settings for all
the items you sync
No in ActiveSync you can not change settings on Inbox, Outbox, Drafts, Sent items, deleted items etc.
All you can change is the peronal folders from outlook. Any other ideas?
Thx

Activesync updating email

Hi, I've an IMAP email account setup on my phone (nothing to do with Outlook). I've unticked the box to auto check for new messages every n minutes, but whenever I activesync it gets the new messages. I can't for the life of me find out why it's doing this, any one have any ideas?
Activesync
When you first connected the device, there was an option what to synch, and by default email is one of the things. You can fix it by synching, then choosing Tools/Options from the PC menu and unchecking Email. (It doesn't synch notes by default, which you can also fix here.)

Thanks for the reply. That only applies to Outlook email though doesn't it? I'm talking direct to the IMAP server here, it just seems to do an automatic send/receive when doing an activesync.

When I had that box checked, it synched whatever mail was up -- for me it synched Pop mail. I don't know if that means it would also synch exchange.
Thanks for the help, maybe that's it then. I unchecked the box, but it came up with a warning that all email on the PPC would be removed - not particularly desirable! In any event I quite like the feature, just would like to know how it happened as I'd never seen it do it before.

This doesn't work for a WindowsLive account. How would I delete a Windows Live email account from my PPC?
THanks,
-Humbert
Yup it doesn't. You need to not use Windows live messenger.
Whenever you sign-in to WLM, it creates the mailbox automatically. So if you're not sync'ing your mails, there's no way to remove it.

Go to
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\Windows Live
in the registry and change the value of
"UserCannotCreate"
from "1" to "0".
The delete option should no longer be grayed out.

I have a similar problem as the first poster. I created the same gmail account more then once, but since I had to load from a backup after my tytn froze it is only showing the one account. My programs such as pocketbreeze is showing both gmail accounts, but messaging is only showing 1, so the question is how do I delete one of the duplicate accounts if only one is showing in messaging, or do I have to hard reset my phone?
I have the same problem. MSN Messenger is pre-instaled and when I first logged in, the device automaticly created a new folder called Hotmail.
How do I go to: "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\Windows Live"?

There are a lot of registry editors for PocketPC out there, if you don't have one try one of these:
PHM Registry Editor (free)
Total Commander (free)
Resco Registry
I tried to do this to delete the outlook account, but it did not work. i ended up deleting the active sync folder from the registry - which worked - but then my phone stopped vibrating when getting text and email messages.
i loaded the new ROM and the active sync folder is back (and hotmail too), but i still don't vibrate on incoming messages. any thoughts?

Outlook account missing from Mail home page

Somehow I seem to have lost the "envelope" icon for the Outlook account on my Mail Home page.
I have two POP3 mail accounts and the Outlook account and previously there were "envelope" icons for all three accounts together with the new message icon on my Mail home page.
Now I just have just have two envelopes for the POP3 accounts and the new message icon - the Outlook "envelope" has disappeared. If I go to the Inbox all three accounts are there as before and work normally.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can restore the icon to the Mail page without a hard reset ?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
try switching off mail synchro in active-sync on PC -> activate a sync once -> reboot the phone -> switch active-sync on PC on again -> sync once again -> check phone

rhtizzy, many thanks for the response and the suggestion.
Sadly it made no difference. The process removed and then restored all my Outlook mail but there is still no "Envelope" icon for the Outlook account on the Mail TouchFlo Screen.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I've got the same issue. My push mail is coming down to outlook and I even get the new mail displayed as a little envelope with the number of mail on it at the base of the screen. However the main screen is blank and says No account and I only get the option to add a new one. If I go into messaging everything works fine. Any help would be gratefully received.
Having done a good trawl around google it looks like the issue may be Intellisync. Other users who have it display the same issue. It is down to the lack of harmony between TF3D and intellisync. I haven't found a work around or fix yet although someone mentioned hotsyncing to a new outlook programme at least created the mail account if not all of the settings. Sadly I also can't sync to any desktops as it looks like Intellisync is blocking me.
Found the solution
Ok - It looks like I've found the workaround. My guess is that intellisync is added seperately and so doesn't add the outlook details to the main mail page. 1/ First make sure that you turn on the 'activesync' as this is disabled by intellisync (settings for this are in the 'settings/activesync' area of intellisync program)
2/ Make sure that your desktop or laptop has either activesync (for xp) or mobile sync software (for vista) installed.
3/ Set up a new partnership ensuring that 'mail' will synchronise.
3/ Sync with Ms Outlook. NB - I advise using a clean install of ms outlook to ensure no conflicts.
4/ Your mail account is now added to TF3D with full interaction with your account:!

[email protected]

domain leave blank
server address M.google.com
also sync it 2times and everything will be there
you should sign up for www.miqlive.com service and you never have to work about importing or exporting of contacts
just to clarify....you are using exchange right? not the default gmail setup?

I'm wanting to import the "Phone" contacts from my g1. these are synced with my google account. If I look at google voice for that account all these contacts are there. So how should I do that?
you need to setup Outlook for your gmail, the default gmail is IMAP and syncs email only.
go to outlook setup and fill in your username and password as your gmail credentials. the domain can be left blank and when asked set the server address as m.google.com
once completed you will be given a column of tick boxes, be sure to untick the tasks option.
then sync. it may take a couple of syncs to work; i find that if i go to the actual Activesync app and hit sync it seems to work better the first time round.

awesome! thanks. How can I get rid of the activesync that's on there now? like the one I already set up?
just scroll to the email tab, press Menu, Account Options, Delete.
Hi,
I found that using ActivSync to connect to "Microsoft Exchange" using the GoogleSync settings worked for me (server address m.google.com).
Regards.

NM, solved.
Mines blank. Are you using HTC's setup wizard or creating an Activesync partnership through Activesync itself?
I always just run the setup by going to Settings, Data Services, Activesync. I then find the actual Activesync programme and select the sync option. Sometimes it takes a couple of goes to kick in, and I usually leave the programme open while it's syncing as occasionally when I put the programme into the background it doesn't finish syncing.
