I have O2 XDA, with already installed Special Edition ROM 1.2. When SIM is inserted, this device is supposed to find network. BUT: no netwroks are found at all in this range! Switching between 900/1800/1900 does nothing. But still, after inserting the SIMcard, this device asks for the PIN-number, and is able to read the contents of the SIM - so SIM is not the problem... So what can I do to make it find network?
ps. Location - Russia, Service provider - BeeLine (federal number).
pps. I got this device used. First, this device was used in the 1900 mhz region - and was working perfect (1-st owner). Then it has been re-sold to the 2-nd owner, who used it as PocketPC only (as he was in 850 mhz region).
Please check model type of the rear sticker.
PW10A is for 900/1800 MHz networks and PW10B are for 900/1900 MHz networks. I´m guessing that´s your problem. If your provider just uses 1800 MHz you can´t use a PW10B-device....

Hi,
is it possible to make the sx56 or tmobile ppc phone (normally 900/1900) work on the european 1800 mhz networks as well :?:
Thank you
Yes, you need to change it in the bootloader. Just select the one that has got the band you need. Don't try to change it in the phone settings, or it won't work.
Are you sure ?
I tried what you mention and it does not connect to Telstra...
I am running a 6.25 radio and an 4.01.16 TMO rom with a 5.17 bootloader.
I tried both 900 stand alone and 900/1800 but it did not work.
Any other trick ?
Thanks,
Bob.
so, has anyone ever succeeded with activating the 1800 mhz?
It's all depending on the device type ... PW10A works only for 900/1800 ... and PW10B works only for 900/1900 .... don't try the impossible!!! ... or you may permanently damage the RSU part!!!
better to get XDA II ... it's tri-band
well, I'm planning to buy one on ebay. how can I make sure, which one it is. what should I ask the seller to look for?
Thanks
is 900/1900 not only in America ?
in that case you should ask the seller to look at his address
ok, my question is if it's possible to make the american version 900/1900 to work on 1800 mhz
most countries in EU have both 900 and 1800 support
here is a list not sure if its 100% uptodate though but i doubt people are limiting the support

Click to collapse
Yes, only if the network supports 900 MHz
Zsilak, it will work on 900 but not on 1800.
I bought a sx56 (AT&T)from ebay seller and i am now in Saudi Arabia i made unlocking using the especial edition rom from XDA-developer but no signal after that and the device can not find the network even after making band width adjustement to 900 (here in saudi arabia)
Rom version 3.17.03 Eng
My RSU is 4.21
any one can help please!!
what's your device type ? ... A or B ?
You selected 900 MHz from the phone settings or the bootloader GSM menu ?
I selected the 900 from the a program called gsm band it is already been with xda-developer special edition ROM.
How do i enter the the bootloader? and change it to 900
And by the way it is A type. does this type do not work in the middle east or what?
Ramzy,
I had an sx56.
I got it from USA and it works fine with me here in Dammam.
All what I did is change the bandwidth to (I am not sure if I change it to 900 or 1900) any way try both.
You need to go to the phone dialing (The one with numbers and buttons)
Then go to Tools/Options and then Band I think and change it there.
Also, while you are there try to go to Network and find the network manually not automatic.
InshaAllah it will work.
thanks
The device type is the whole point ... check the rear sticker ... if your device is PW10A that means it supports 900/1800 MHz ... and if it's PW10B this means it works for 900/1900 MHz.
The RSU should be the proper one as well ... 900/1900 RSUs will give you 900 only if your network is 900/1800.
Check the device type first, if it's A and your networks is 900/1800 then you should NEVER switch to 1900 MHz
The best and safest way is to use the GSM bands from the bootloader menu. Press soft reset while pressing power ... when it says "GSM OK" press the calendar button and select the right band.
I have unlock my O2 XDA... But he don't work wit T-Mobile sim-card.
He works with Telfort, Vodofoon but not with T-Mobile.
Help me please???
Your xda will be capable of working with gsm 900/1900 or 900/1800, it is possible that t mobile is running on a frequency that your phone is not capable of. Also you should check in your bootloader under gsm if you have chosen 900/1800 or 900/1900, if you have chosen only 900 then it will only accept sims on that frequency.
Hi,
this is the first time im working with with pdas so im totally new in this area. I bought one i-mate Jam and im using ok with one card provider, yesterday i change for other provider and i dont understand why my pda cant get network with this new provider.. i try to make a manual search and no information. the pda is brand new and i also contact the provider to see if is not barred and all is 100% ok... can someone knows if this can be fixed or have any ideia about this?
regards
For sure your unit is SIM locked. There are threads on how to unlock. Please do a search.
the pda is not locked becouse acept card without any problems... the only problem is dont get network of one provider.
What are OS ROM and Radio ROM versions in your unit? If it's an old one try to upgrade to the latest. There are a number of ROM's available in the FTP
Try your new SIM in other phones and see if it works ok. Also try borrowing from friends SIM of the same provider as your new SIM as well as SIMs from other providers.
The magician is a tri-band device build in two flavors:
- 850, 1800, 1900mHz
- 900, 1800, 1900mHz
Could it be the one provider which doesn't work is operating on a non-supported band?

hi,
i flash this pda few hours ago and i still have the same problem.. i was looking in other sites and i found something about this problem.
Exact this models have to versions:
PM10A (900-1800-1900 mhz) and PM10C (850-1800-1900mhz) and the one that i have is PM10C. I have to find one way to convert it to PM10A so then i will be able to fix this problem.
When you find the way to change a PM10C to a PM10A or vice-versa you're the man! It's hardware specific & not build in the rom :-(
M
i know someone that can make this change but dont share with no one... i cant do a lot becouse i have only PM10c in hands and i dont have any PM10A to compare the boards.
I just did a search with the keyword "850" and there are 2 pages of threads about this. All threads confirm what what OLTP mentioned - the radio frequencies are set via hardware components and no software or hack can change it. In fact, "Reo" mentioned that he modified the hardware of his unit to make it into a 900/1800/1900 MHz unit.
The 850 and 1900 MHz frequencies are used in the USA, while the 900 and 1800 MHz frequencies are used in Asia, Australia and Europe. I'm pretty sure that your new SIM supports only the 900 MHz frequency. Ask your current provider or check their website to find out what frequency they use. If your provider supports only the 900 MHz, then your last resort is to change provider again.
hi guys
im from Israel..
i just got a new HTC aria device
i unlocked it with a code for any GSM carier for supported Israeli's network
now the phone is no longer under AT&T, it for Cellcom (an Israeli company)
the device support this:
HSPA/UMTS/(1900/850MHZ) GSM/GPRS/EDGE (Quad band 850/900/1800/1900MHZ)
Cellcom SIM CARD support this:
HSPA/UMTS/(2100MHZ) GSM/GPRS/EDGE (Quad band 850/900/1800/1900MHZ)
when i entered a regular sim which is for GSM only the device worked just fine..
but when i entered the USIM (the HSPDA's supported sim card - that suppose to support the GSM frequency as well) the device couldnt recognize any carier..
what should i need to do?
is there a way for changing the sim card frequency settings from the Android's settings?
do i have any possibilty for using HSPDA supported sim card without supported frequency in Israel?? because the device soesnt know the 2100MHZ HSPDA freq.
cause i thougt that device will handle this issue (works for calls) and will block me only when ill want to web through the Cellcom mobile in HSPDA
but still will let me to web through GSM witch is more slowly..

i think you're out of luck unless you get the proper sim card for the proper frequencies.
Since Cellcom uses UMTS 2100, you would have been better off to buy an Asian or European phone. AT&T doesn't use the 2100 band and decided not to include it in this phone. You won't get 3G on that carrier.
According to Wikipedia, another provider - Pelephone - has some of its 3G service on the 850 band which would be supported by the Aria. But in any area that is served only by the 2100 band, your Aria will not get 3G.
No idea why one particular SIM isn't letting you onto their GSM network.
