Problem - can't get rid of notification after uninstall - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

I have installed xcpuscalar - and uninstalled it right away.
My problem: evry time I turn on my PPC it tells me: "xcpuscalar cannot be executed". But i have already uninstalled it!!! I don't want to make hardreset!!
Does anybody has an idea, how to get rid of this notification?

Have a look in "/Windows/AutoStart": there should be a *.lnk for xcpuscalar. Delete the *.lnk file and make a soft reset. This should help.

HELP...need to get rid of smartskey

I put smartskey and omap onto my mda...it wasn't working properly so I uninstalled it....
there are no visible signs of the programs on my device but everytime my device wakes up or powers on i get this:
Notification Error
Cannot execute "windows/start/menu/newfoldr/smarskey.exe"
then behind it i get
Notification Error
Cannot execute "smartskey/snartskey.exe"
I just want this to be off of my device since it has been so much trouble. Can someone please help me figure out how to get rid of this without having to do a hard reset?
\windows\startup
remove it from there...
and also remove the smartskey folder where you installed it from...
i did that...nm i ended up doing a hard reset. I deleted the program and folder...there were no visible traces...idk what happened
I had this problem too. Extremely frustrating especially since I had removed all traces (so I thought) of smartskey.
Turns out, Smartskey leaves behind a notification message that gets queued up even if you remove the program and it's shortcut from the startup menu. You need a program like MemMaid to clear the notification message.
Annoying Smartskey issue, PLEASE help

I also have this problem on a Wizard and a Prophet. Even though you remove 'all traces' of Smartskey it keeps coming up wuth the queued notification message. Does anyone have a fix for this?
I tried using MemMaid demo about a week ago but it wouldn't install on the Wizard. I might try it on the Prophet. Can anyone confirm that if I buy the full MemMaid software it will remove this annoying issue i.e. does it run & install on WM5 XDA's?

MemMaid is WM5 compatible. I use it on my Wizard without problem.
EDIT:
Re uninstalling smartskey - I thought there was a specific way to uninstall it mentioned in the smartskey thread? Does this not work?

Just tried MemMaid (demo) on the Prophet. It cleared the problem straight away. Went back to the Wizard and MemMaid also worked on that, both machines now clean of the Smartskey notification message. Now that I know how to remove the message I might play around with Smartskey some more. The Smartskey concept is quite good but it seems to interface badly with Omapclock (might just be Microsoft's buggy notification software).
MemMaid also looks a good utility for $15. I think originally I might have been trying to run the MemMaid (installation) exe from the Wizard rather than installing over ActiveSync.
hi, i use smartskey and omap together and they both work beautifully with each other, my device is quicker thanks to omap clock and the wizard is excellent as a one handed device thanks to the shortcuts it creates just like the prophet device where it creates ur soft keys to be the start button and OK button as well.....its like having 2 extra keys just like the prophet.......you can also use the software Check Notifications 1.9 by ScaryBearSoftware to get rid of the smartskey.exe from the notifications queue......
MemMaid v. Smartskey
I installed Smartskey, and it was unhappy. Then the bloody "Notification Error..." started popping up consistantly.
Reinstalled Smartskey, no help.
Uninstalled, No Help.
Looked it up here, Installed MemMaid
Problem Solved.
BTW- Reinstalled Smartskey and OmapClock and they work wonderfully. My initial eror was installing to the SD Card and not main memory.
Thanks for the fix.

Add / Remove Programs Prob.

Help!!! All the programs in my add and remove program list has dissappeared. I can't uninstall any programs. Any suggestions?
hey bud i have the same problem if anyone can shed some light on this please do i know its happended to me where every i have it connected to pc with active sync and try to install programs then active sync wont find my unit so any help will do
Hmm, you guys can try to use SKTools to see if it see your installed files. Just download the trial version, if it works, but it, trust me. Memaid have the unistall feature also.
I had this problem once on when I had my 8125. It was from installing a program onto my 8125 and the computer froze. I unplugged the USB cord and reboot the computer. After that the 8125 couldn't install or remove any programs (Nothing in the remove section).
A hard reset cured it.

Unfortunately, SKTools' trial mode is pretty useless. Nevertheless, it's one of the very few apps that worth every penny - that is, you all can safely buy it, you won't regret your choice.
More Probs.

I think it would be better to ask for help in the forums of lakerigdesoftware!
But maybe someone here can help you as well!
vi
i just got an idea. Would it be possible to write a dummy program that does nothing but DOES resolve the requirements?
From what i understand, the program is triggered, and then the program directs the next action, no?
it would probably cause more problems than it solves.
I suspect its hidden in the registry somewhere and its probably trying to call it to do "theme" stuff on wake up. If its not there any more and the phone operates fine once youve cancled the error then i would recommend taking a registry backup and trying to fish it out of the registry.
out of interest what version wisbar was it, im running v3 here i could try and see if i can find anything in the reg
using file explorer go into windows/startup and see if you still have w.a in there, if you do delete it.
no w.a in startup, i've already deleted references in the registry
This app is cursed for real, I have the same issue. At least (for me) is just that little pop screen when I unlock the phone.
yeah thats the same problem i have.
annoying.

I think my phone needs an exorcism.
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/fo...t=Execute+\Program+Advance+Desktop\wakeup.exe
sadly, they've yet to find a solution. i've made another thread here asking for somebody to program me a dummy exe.

Remove Handago and Getting Started from the programme list

Has anyone removed these from the programme? I would love to keep my X1 as clean as possible, and i am just wondering would anything happen if i remove these programme since i will not be using them at all.
YES, u can no problem.
Yep no problem.
When I did it through remove programs the handango left some file or reg entry behind though, and everytime I started the device it would give a warning.
I used a reg editor to delete a single reference in the registry and a few files in program files I believe and now handango is truly gone

ive tried removing that stupid handangoinhand twice and both times after soft reset i get a warning too. had to hard reset twice bcos of this.
what reg editor did u use? so now u dont get that warning anymore?
I did so but everytime I turn on the x1 the nagging screen saying something like this "one of the component of the Handango in hand is missing, try install it again..,"
well, just press ok and it will go away
it may be good to leave the program in the x1
you need to manualy remove it from the start up folder to get rid of the notification of missing file

there was no need to hard reset. simply delete handango component from-
windows/stratup.
You should not have had to do a hard reset … after uninstalling the handango applications using the add/remove programs control panel, using File Explorer go into /windows/startup items and delete the handango shortcut. What is happening is the shortcut which executes on start up doesn't find the app and registers the error.
Haven't worked out how to delete the Getting Started app yet??
tnx guys. will try that. still fairly new to ppc.
though i would hv figured this out myself if i had this problem on my pc. lol.
hmm, i just removed this program and after soft reset i got no warnings.. Did not remove anything from startup folder either.
Swedish phone, might be the difference?
.. im not saying that this is NOT a good thing
Thanks for the tips guys, got the Handago out in seconds. Still, any idea on how to remove "getting started", msn and all that other junk?

Shortcuts all have the same 'icon' after installing G-alarm

Shortcuts all have the same 'icon'.
Here's is what I did, I installed G-alarm and I get a following message after installing this app. "your device seems to be at risk to have the windows alarm bug". I told me to restart so I did.
Nothing weird happend after that but I didn't test the application.
I installed sprite backup after that and made a backup.
All went well and backup was made.
Now I was installing Western Europe maps for TomTom. The process was fine and when I unplugged the HTC from my PC for testing TomTom I saw that all my shortcuts changed in the same way. (shortcut icon blue outside, white inside)
And I tried the Icon but it didn't launch any program so ... I went towards the install dir from my appz and all normal .exe files where still working so something f**ked up my shortcuts.
I tried soft reset but when starting up the HTC i get much errors from application G-alarm.
Anyone knows my problem?
I removed all programs who'd give errors. Replaced all shortcuts also.
Seems to be working so far.

SK Tools can do the job quite well, as far as I have used it.
