hello people
i´ve got a problem with my Activ Sync...
If i want to connect my wizard with my Notebook nothing happend.
i don´t know what´s the problem, because at the beginning there are no problems, but after a hard-reset there´s no connection.
Sorry about my english, it isn`t very good (i´am german ! But I hope someone helps me ...
Here are some informations about my system: Win XP with Active Sync 4.1 and a VPA compact 2 :?: :? [/b]
I have had similar issues with ActiveSync before, and usually what you will end up doing is reinstalling the ActiveSync version that you have on both your laptop and your Wizard. Are you getting any messages at all when you dock your device? Does ActiveSync display a message saying "Trying to connect" or "Looking for device"?
thanks...
the problem was a hub. i had a hub between the wizard and the laptop. without the hub the connection is possible and the problem isn´t there.
but on my desktop, (no hub between desktop and wizard) there´s the problem still existing. the desktop try to connect and search a connection, but... there isn´t any connection...
Troubleshooting ActiveSync is a pain, isn't it? OK, I have a couple of things you can try...hopefully one of them will work...
1. If you have a firewall running (and yes, believe it or not Windows firewall can even be an issue), it needs to be configured to allow ActiveSync applications to work. For that, you'll need to consult the software provider's manual or their web site. Most of them have already identified this as a problem.
2. If you have partnered to this desktop before, make sure that the partnership names haven't changed. In other words your laptop is calling your wizard by the same name as your desktop.
3. Are you running a home network? I think I saw this in another post here, that VPN clients can be an issue because the computer is viewing your mobile hookup as a network connection. Uninstalling the clients can sometimes provide the cure.
I hope that this helps.
shaker,
please ensure you have XP Service Pack 2 on both machines.
ciao!
Before I set up push email my phone synced to the exchange server fine via USB, but whenever I sync my phone to my pc via USB now it syncs to the exchange server via GPRS not USB and I get an error on both pc and phone saying it is unable to sync to the server, I have tried disabling push and GPRS but still my phone won't sync to the exchange server via USB, this is reall annoying I can sync via GPRS but not USB, I don't mind this but the error message on the pc and phone I get each time just bugs me, anyone else have this problem and know how to sort it out...?..
check to see if you have the ce tificate installed. For the push to work you need exchange sp2 installed and security feature pack installed on PDA
what certificate adn where do you get it from, the PUSH is workign fine have AKU2 and SP2 i'm talking about syncing via USB are you like blind?, re-read my first post..

Can your PPC browse Internet sites while connected to your PC via USB?
I was experiencing this very issue for the longest time and the thing that worked for me was changing the connection settings in Activesync on the computer. Here is what I did:
File => Connection Settings => This computer is connected to: The Internet
For some reason, when it was set to Automatic the USB sync would work for a while and then stop altogether. Good luck.
I have a problem with ActiveSync (or with my Qtek 9000, who knows): when I connect the PDA to the PC through USB, the PC detects the PDA, ActiveSync goes into "Connecting" mode, and then.. nothing. It says that it can not connect.
I followed several troubleshooters on the Internet, but the symptoms still remain.
Perhaps it's a software problem on the PDA. I'd love to perform a hard reset, but I must synchronize first (it's been 2 months since I can't synchronize, and I have done quite a bit of appointment and document entry on the PDA).
So.. what should I do?
I can connect the PDA to the Internet through WiFi and GSM 3G. Should I run a backup program, transfer everything to a FTP site, and then hard reset?
If so, which backup program should I use?
Is there anything I can fix on my PC to make it connect to the PDA?
What is your advice?
THANK YOU!
I have exactly the same problem when connecting via a USB cable to my home PC. Connecting to my home pc via bluetooth works fine and connecting to my work pc with a cradle works fine.
I've tried using different USB cables, different USB ports and have two Qtek 9000's with exactly the same problem on the same PC. I've tried re-installing AS 4.1 and 4.2 and both fail to sync with the cable.
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
My Qtek 9000 used to connect and sync on this computer. In the last 2 or so months, this hasn't worked. No idea why!
Are any of you using the app "USBSwitch"??
For some reason, ActiveSync is using settings for a serial connection to connect to your PDA. USBSwitch will allow you to set the connection as RNDIS, which will allow you to connect and sync.
You can download it here -- http://forum.parallels.com/thread2743.html
I had the same problem with my Cingular 8125, and then found out that HTC included the USBSwitch app into the latest ROM upgrade. Has been working fine ever since I found it to switch over.
I had similar problems with my Qtek 9100
My problem was my firewall (Sygate personal firewall (SPF)) which did not allow me to connect via USB.
If I turned SPF of it worked.
My current firewall, NVIDIA Firewall, asked me if I wanted to allow the USB connection to my device. When allowed everything works fine.

Hi all,
I set up my Trinity to also check my hotmail account. Ofcourse, when I do this outside the confines of my home Wifi network, the P3600 automatically connects to hotmail via my UMTS connection.
When I'm on the road I don't mind this, but when I'm at the office, where there is no wifi, I would like to use the connection my PC has to the internet. I was thinking about using BT for this but don't know if this is possible at all...
Anyone with suggestions?
I don't think this is possible via Activesync, but if possible I would like to avoid the use of it anyway...
Thx for any suggestions!
if connected to activesync one is connected to the network of the pc with activesync
unless steps have been made on the pc, pda or office network to block it
i surf with bluetooth connection to activesync all the time
Likewise i use the USB active sync connection to connect to the internet on my Trinity, and Alpine as well. The only restriction, as mentioned, is that if the PC has limited access rights then so does the PDA.
Hey thanks Rudegar & deedee, I didn't know this actually
So simple and obvious, but I never tried it out
Guess I'll have to install Activesync on the [email protected] too then....
I have just got an Orange SPV M5000 and am having problems getting it to work with activesync. I have tried both 4.2 & 4.5 and with 4.5 it will sometimes sync. If I disconect from the PC I have to reboot the PC if I want to resync. Also, when activesync is working, when Outlook syncs with the 5000, it says every thing has synced, but the callendar on the 5000 does not update (infact it has no entries)
Everything used to work OK with my old M1000 so I don't know what to do. Anyone got any ideas please. Regards, John
NOW SORTED
the problem was that the later versions of activesync connect via RNDIS TCP/IP rather than the older serial USB. Some PPC's have an icon called Activesync Mode which the 5000 does not have which allows you to change to either setting.
I found a microsoft solution where you install ActiveSyncMode.sa.cab which puts installs that icon so you can change back to USB serial & its all fine now.
