XDA II GPRS configuration to access French SFR provider

Hi,
I would need a little help to configure this GPRS connection.
I have all the parameters but it only accept to connect to GPRS then, I cannot browse at all.
I have installed Pocketcmd and Nettools and I don't resolve anything.
Thanks for your help
Hi me,
SFR just told me it was because of my SIM card that is too old (1999)... I have just realized that I have this number for more than 6 years (started in 1997....)
Well, they send me a new SIM and I'll be able to surf.
Thanks me for the answer and for my help
Hello Murcielago,
Sorry about reopening this post, but when you received your new SIM, was the network configuration automatically "imported" from it ? How was the procedure performed by you to set it ?
I'm asking it because since I installed a new ROM to my Pocket PC, I was able to set the network configuration but I couldn't use any GPRS traffic monitor software (and my guess it's because before I did the upgrade, there were a few "hidden" networks that Efficasoft software listed and these networks have just gone...)
Thank you!
Fabio.

ISP for XDA Exec?

Hi, got a new XDA Exec on 02 and am trying to work out how to get connected to the internet and email. Anyone got any recommendations for a good ISP? What is everyone else using?
Thanks for any help and happy new year!
hi!
happy new year to you too!
your ISP is actually your mobile carrier.... in your case, if you bought the exec from o2, then o2 are the isp
on an o2 exec, they are pre-configured for gprs or 3g internet access out of the box on the o2 network......providing you have used a sim that has data facilities enabled.....just click on the internet explorer icon and it should connect automatically
if you are using someone else's sim (i think the exec comes sim unlocked) then you will need to maually create the connections for that mobile provider (start, settings, connections, add new connection)
www.filesaveas.com/gprs.htm is a good source for all the major mobile providers settings
if you are connecting via wifi, then that is governed by the wifi device.....in hotspots it generally is pay as you go (btopenzone, tzones etc) but obvioulsy a home it is just picking up your home wifi connection
hope this helps!
Thanks!
Thanks for your help! I can now connect to the internet! I used the 02 settings. Also discovered the joy of there being Wifi at the station when the trains were cancelled but wasn't able to log on as it didn't accept the phone number it asked for when selecting O2 as the provider for some reason. Haven't worked out how to get email yet either but that's my next challenge!
Thanks again

just upgrade to WM6 and use the Internet Sharing function which is infinitely better than the Wireless Modem utility

Xda 2 problems

Hey everybody im a complete noob when it comes to the pocket pc range anyways my problem is i unlocked my phone to take a meteor sim card I can make calls recieve texts cant connect to meteors wap service probably because the o2 settings are still in place any suggesting on how to change wld be appreciated Also what exactly do i have to do to connect to the internet is my ISP the company that provides my broadband.
the settings depend on your operator / ips
your ips is your cellphone network your broad band have nothing to do with it you dont even have to have one
unless you wanna use bluetooth to connect to your pc and get internet that way
do a search for your cellphone operator and add GRPS in the forum
it's likely that ppl state the settings in posts before

XDA MINI S-3 Network help and wi fi

Hello all,
I am on the verge of buying an xda mini s, and i have two questions.
Firstly, is it easy to unlock and if unlocked will it work on the '3' network.
Secondly, if i use the wifi facility will be network charge me to browse the internet in the same way they would if i connect via gprs/wap etc.
Thanks
Sportyfr
WiFi conection won't generate any charge from your phone provider. With WiFi you conect to a Wireless router. This can be open (anyone can conect) and free, open but not free (Ej. Fon), or closed (with WEP, WPA, MAC filter, etc). Or you may not be able to conect at all because there are no available networks around.
Just be careful. If you activate WiFi but can't conect to any network, using internet will make the phone activate the GPRS, included the asociated phone bill.

Hi Sportyfr
The XDA Mini-S from O2 will be unlocked anyway.
Be aware that the XDA Mini S is "not" a 3G phone, if it does register, it may not work for long on the "3" network.
AIUI
When 3 spot it, your sim card could / will get barred pretty quick.
The 3G replacement for the XDA Mini-S was the O2 Trion aka the HTC Hermes.
BTW
T-Mobile do have WiFi included in some of their higher priced "Web and Walk" packages.
Hope it helps you or at least saves you some money.
Alan
