I have just installed Pocket PC 2003 on my pocket pc. However I cannot get internet explorer or Messenger to work. I am tried to set my GPRS for (O2 -UK) and the phone appears to be connected. However, when I run messenger I get the following message:
Logon to MSN messenger service failed because the service could not be found. please make sure that you are connected to the internet.
When I try to browse the net.. I get "page cannot be found" message.
Any Ideas guys - What am I doing wrong?
Can someone confirm how to set up the O2 uk connections in Pocketpc 2003.
Thanks
Ron
With AT&T at least in the US, you need to remove the proxy server...I did that after getting the same error message & now it works!
Hi,
I keep getting this error when I start IE in my Wizard. It starts the "connect command when IE is opened, then, almost immediately,
"The page you are looking for cannot be found due to unknown error 0x80004005".
And that's not just fo rthe home page, but any page I type in.
When I soft reset the unit, IE seems to work OK, if I have not done other GPRS things first. However, if I soft reset the unit,. and it connects to GPRS for mail or something first, the IE problem is there. Even if I disconnect GPRS, and reconnect, it still will not work. I need to soft reset. IE just stays in a perpetual state of "connecting", after I OK the error.
It should also be mentioned that when I am connected to the Internet via my laptop & activesync, the same problem arises.
I have flushed all caches and files from IE. When I google that error, it comes up as a normal Outlook 2003 error, related to mail, I think. I do not know if that has any relation, or Oulook 2003 just happens to have an identical error number.
Any help would be appreciated.
To follow up on this, I have found that this IE error happens only after the Wzard checks for IMAP mail (AOL). Since I use an Exchange Server, I do not check for POP3 mail, but, anyway, it is strange this happens.
Does anyone know how anyhting in the system is altered after checking IMAP mail?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
I can get into my company e mail thru my laptop using Cisco VPN (soft token) Is there an easy way (step by step) to set up my 8125 to access my company e mail ?
Is your company running on Microsoft Exchange? If so, there may be no reason to sync across a firewall. It seems to be standard in recent versions of Exchange to expose a PDA sync interface outside the firewall. Let me know if you are in this situation and I tell you how I did it.
Yes Microsoft exchange
I have my 8125 sync'ing directly with exchange. Here's how.
Install ActiveSync 4.2 and follow the instructions for sync'ing. Cisco VPN interacts badly with ActiveSync, so disable the VPN if you have trouble sync'ing. The problem shows up as things hanging while trying to connect.
Once you are connected, add an Exchange server to ActiveSync. Put in the info for your company's server. If you have more than one, use the one that has an https interface that can be accessed from outside the firewall.
ActiveSync will try to start Outlook, which may fail if you are not connected to your VPN. Just click "work offline". You will also get an "unable to connect" message on both ActiveSync and the 8125. Ignore it.
Once you have changed the settings and a sync has been completed, disconnect the phone from the computer. It should sync directly via the GPRS network to an external interface on your Exchange server. Let me know if you run into problems.
Device: HTC S620 (Tmobile Dash)
OS: Windows Mobile 6.5
Rom: 3VO.2.50.080809
Problem: Email messages does not download to the phone from my company's MS Exchange server. During sync phase, the device 'sees' the messages on the server but it does not download to my phone, no error message. It was working fine but all of a sudden it did not. I checked the setup such as server address we use owa.mycompany.com, SSL enabled, login, password nothing has changed. I deleted the server from Activesync and setup again still no go. My other Hotmail, Gmail, calender (sync via usb to my pc) works fine. Few of my fellow workers with iphones and other WM phones also have problem downloading, only the blackberry folks had no problem. My IT guy said he didn't change anything (I am not sure I believe it). If anyone can help shed light on this problem I can finally get some sleep trying to debug this .
*** New Update ***
I was able to download my messages if I config my Outlook to keep emails on the exchange server and not download to my local PC. There seems to be some conflict.
I am currently using an IMAP4 mail server through my ISP, Virgin Media for my mail on my PC (Outlook) and attempted to set up the connection for it on my phone.
As an old Blueyonder customer i have been following the Blueyonder Mail setup guide on the Virgin Media email website but it does not appear to be liking me.
Every time I attempt to collect my emails it tells me "Error Synchonising" and a popup appears "Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings." This appears over my 3G connection.
When hooked up via USB to my PC then it works fine.
Also, another issue seems to be that I am unable to find the 'Domain' required to set up a Push event.
Could anyone assist me and suggest where I might be going wrong?
