Unresolved Items when synchronizing email - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hi,
Does anyone know the fix to this issue. I've done various tests and know that any email that has an attachment, it will not sync to my Jam. I've deleted all emails that has attachments and sure enough the "unresolved items" in Activesync disappears.
Here are the things I've done and none have worked so far.
1. I've changed the location to store the attachments to the internal memory instead of my SD card. - Still doesn't work.
2. I've unchecked the limited size of the attachment in Activesync Options - Does not work
3. I've done a hard reset because I upgraded to ROM ver: 1.11.00 - Ext. ROM 1.11.169
So far I have not been able to find the issue. I've tried using a different SD card but I don't think it matters because it does it even when I uncheck the option to save attachments to storage card. One thing for sure, if I send myself one email with an attachment, I get 1 unresolved issue on the email sync. So it's some attachment problem that I would really like to have fixed because my attachments are important to me.
If you know the fix for this issue please let me know. Thanks you.

I have this problem every once in a while. It is usually an attachment that ActiveSync can't convert properly. I find I have to disconnect and reconnect which sometimes solves it. Other times I have to find which attachment is causing the problem and remove it from the mail. I have not yet tried turning of the conversion setting which may indeed help.

Pocket Outlook email storage location patch..

Hi all,
Not sure if anyone saw this:
http://www.elgix.com/products/index.htm
It looks like a patch to change the location for email storage location (not attachments but the actual emails). Patch says it's for the MPx but do you guys think it will work work with the Magician? Anyone brave enough to give it a try?
Using Pocket Outlook Storage patch on Magician.
Hi All,
First of all, we have NOT tested this patch on any device other than the MPx. Generally speaking the patch should work on any device running PPC 2003/SE, but there is one issue. The MPx has 16Mb of built-in flash memory called ResidentFlash. What we've done is we've hard-coded the path to this ResidentFlash in the program, and you can select where you want your Outlook data -- either in the internal memory, the storage card (if one is available), or in the ResidentFlash (which won't be available on the Magician). This means that it should be possible to use the storage card, but you'll still see the ResidentFlash option, which won't work. If you install this on any device other than an MPx, do NOT select ResidentFlash. We might update the control panel applet to remove the ResidentFlash option when it's not available.
Please send mail to [email protected] if you have any questions.
Enjoy,
-- Eldad.
Just installed the patch on the magician and it works very well. Right after changing the location of the mails, i just put my whole exchange box on my device !! Now i always have everything with me, thanks for this patch guys !!
thanks for the patch........ works great on my imate jam and love it...... another idea can you make a patch to move the SMS messages to the storage card?! it would be great if it you could....
thank you again
Was just about to ask if there was a hack a registry tweak for this when this patch arrived.
Unfortunately, I can't get it to work on my MDA. After transferring all my emails from internal memory to the storage card, I can no longer read the body of the message. The email still appears in my inbox, but the text is missing.
Fortunately, I just re-transferrd all the emails from the storage card to the internal memoery and everything seems fine again.

I tried this on my O2 Mini (running Anansky's ROM with 27MB storage) and had the same problem. The emails appear in Inbox but the body is empty when i click on them. Moved the email back to Internal Memory and its ok again.
Anyway, it would be really nice if "Storage" is included as an option in addition to the existing "ResidentFlash, Internal Memory, Storage Card". Those using the 27MB storage can move the emails there.
Must soft-reset the device before relocating emails.
jian and patrickquek,
Did you make sure to soft-reset your devices after installing the patch? It sounds like the program was installed, but the device wasn't restarted -- that's exactly what would cause emails to appear blank.
We are preparing another version that uses the "Storage" folder instead of "ResidentFlash". That would work for HTC devices such as the Magician, Blue Angel, etc. This version should be available before the end of the week.

I am lost (
Guys, can you direct me how to move e-mail to storage card, please?
I installed the patch, however cannot find any interface to work with.
I have a JAM.
Thanking you in advance.
noviur,
When you click the Start button, go to Settings, and then click the System tab, do you see an item called "Outlook Storage"? That's where you can control your outlook storage settings. Please let me know if this item is not available on your device.
Thanks,

Thank you, ldoogy.
After checking System tab i could not find it mentioned below item, however I did installation to the Card instead of default location - that was the reason why it did not work.
I had to reinstall it and not it works as you said. So thank you and for sure moving SMS files would be really an asset

hi ldoogy,
Thanks for coming here and helping us out. Anyways I am having a couple of issues with the app. It seems like I am able to move existing emails from internal memory to storage card and vise versa but like the previous 2 posters above, the contents on the email is missing. The attachments are there but the body text of the email is not showing. Moving it back to internal memory clears that problem. Another issue I am having is that whenever I get a new email, the email is still default to internal memory instead of storage card. I made sure storage card was selected in the app and soft resets has performed. Maybe I misunderstand what the purpose of this app is. Is it app only intend to move existing emails and not new emails coming in? Thanks again for this app and all your help! Looking forward to hearing from you.
Hi All,
Looks like our patch only works on the MPx for now. We've now tested it in-house on a PDA2K and got the same results. The storage redirection mechanism just doesn't work on the HTC devices. We are currently working on a fix for this problem and will hopefully post it in the next few days. I would recommend that you refrain from installing this patch on any HTC devices until we have resolved these issues.
I will post a message once we have a version that works on HTC devices (I expect we'll have one version that will work for both Magician and Blue Angel).
Cheers,

The elgix outlook storage icon does appear in my system folder and it seems to have succeeded in moving my messages (took about 9 mins).
There is a (new?) directory on my card called messaging filled with *.mpb files. Am I correct in assuming that these are the message files and that the patch worked fine on my MDA Compact with T-mobile english rom ?
Many thanks,
Martin

Martin, you are correct that the .mpb files are the message files, but moving them is really just the first part of what the patch does. The real purpose of the patch is to redirect file requests from Outlook to the storage card. The problem that most people here seem to be having is that the redirection doesn't work, which results in all of their email messages showing up as empty when viewed from Outlook. For now the solution is to copy the messages back to the internal memory. We're currently trying to figure out why the redirection isn't working.

a little late now seeing that you have already established the cause of the problem, but yes, i did reset the device after instaling the patch!
Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks!!
I also got the same problem of blank emails...
WARNING! BEWARE !!!
ldoogy , thanks for your response.
After running the patch everything seemed fine, but I then realised that I couldn't open outlook anymore.
Then tried a soft reset, but the machine wouod no longer reboot because it would hang with a message something like "autocheckrun or one of it's components can't be found. After a minute it would reboot again, and again.... Tried without memory inserted but didn't help.
Had to hard reset and restore a backup.
I'm running an ms exchange email account, could that have something to do with my issue?
Thanks,
Martin
problems overview
Interesting,
I did not have any of the above mentioned problems with my JAM. Everything was working fine, until..... I connected my JAM to my desktop for synchronization.... ActiveSync in JAM could not get initialized and I had to to HR.
So the patch is very useful, however better to wait for the one, specifically for JAM.
Hoping to see it soon
Thank you
I had the same Problems as thinksmart: after the softreset, my blue angel wasn't able to find bttrayicon or so. Needed to perform a hardreset and backup data. Kept me awake until four o clock in the morning...

Messaging: Unable to display the attachment.

Setting up a friends MDA, and not wanting to do another hard reset. His MDA is set up with exchange and activesync. When you try to open any email attachments, which are set to save to SD, it gets a window titled "Messaging" which says "Unable to display the attachment."
Any ideas?
anyone?
did you find a solution to this? I have the same problem.
Same problem here. Can't find a solution, so I'm probably going to hard-reset today.
Maybe the attachment you are trying to open is not associated with any program installed on the PPC!??
No, the problem happens with JPG and GIF attachments. There's a fundemental problem with attachments, as I can't send them either - if I choose a picture I've just taken with the camera, and choose 'Send' and send it via email, the attachment is corrupted (a 59k image is truncated to 99 bytes).
It definitely used to work, but something's caused it to break in the last few weeks. If somebody knows how to fix it without hard-resetting I'd be very grateful!
I had a similar problem, except active sync refused to download attachments for some reason. It owuld just go trough the motions and then announce the download had failed. no idea why but the two could be linked somehow. other problems I had at the time were today screen not loading up properly with the storage card in, inserting the storage card stopped push-email until I soft-reset the device and frequent device hangs. As there was a new rom available I decided the best thing to do was to flash the rom and start again. THis may be the best course fo action for you too. I also over-clocked to 240mhz and its like I got a completely new machine!
Ah well, too late, I've hard-reset now.
i did a hard reset too...
the only thing i could think that may have affected the mail would be that i installed flex mail 2006 for testing but never ended up using it...
did you guys install that too?
Nope.
Seems like it has done it again... I dont want to hard reset all my stuff again!!!!!!!!!!
Hard Reset
I am also hard resetting as we speak because I just can't solve this one.
Solution!
Ok... this has happened again and I know now what has caused it!
I was cleaning out some directories prior to it happening again. It then happened and I realised what i had deleted had caused this problem.
Make sure you have the following directory in your ppc memory storage:
"/Program Files/Connections/Mail Attachments"
After I recreated this directory it all started working again.
Finally I found the solution to this annoying problem!!!!!
Cheers,
X.
I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to say thank you for the solution. I had searched Google to no end until I found yours!
Thanks for the help!

Wow, good job X.
Thanks for posting the fix!

Struggling with memory and cant find the answer

I have done lots of searches but can't solve this one so I am hoping someone can walk me through it.
I have a 2GB storage card and I would really like to sync directly to it. It doesn't really matter for My DOcuments and bits and bobs as they are not big and I can always move them but the probelm is email.
I like to keep my outlook synchronised and certain folders synced at all times but unlike the MDAIII the Vatio II can't do this as the memory is too low. I need a way to store the attachments on the card and be able to access them seemlessly or to just sync directly with the card (ideally).
I have looked at the link for mobilesync but it doesn;t download properly and I can't get it to work. If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate it. I am not up to tweeking registries etc. I am IT literate but not a boffin!
thanks
If you go to email, email options, memory tab - you can select to store attachments to to storagecard. It works fine with incoming email attachments - not totally sure about outlook emails but its probably worth a try. Let me know the result
There is a setting in Mobile Outlook that allows you to store attachments on the storage card. Did you try that? Within Messaging it is Tools/Options/Storage tab
crumbs
My device now isn't syncing at all. THe laptop is connecting as it is charging the device but it is seeing it as a guest and not syncing - help
oh dear
I have done this and it is now syncing fine but I still can't access teh attahment s when reading my mail because presumably it is not accessing my storage card by default. How do I set it to read attachments from there?
I don't want to ask the obvious but in activesync have you unchecked the boxes in options / email that limit file size or limit the download of attachments? If these are still checked it could be your problem

Attachments not downloading

I am having an intermittent problem with email attachments not downlaoding and it is totally confusing me. I have my settings so that all emails and all attachments of any size can download and some of the time this is fine but other times (like this morning) the emails will download but the attachments wont download when I prompt for them to come too. It is the same problem whether using wifi or gprs/3g as my settings are identical anyway.
Has anyone got any ideas. I am fairly certain that the attachments that wont open are ones that are large. It seems that the device is forcing emails to be attachments that weren't attachments in the first place. For example when I opened an email this morning it was blank with an attachment but when I checked my laptop and went for the same email it was a text email with an excel file attached. I didn't know what was contained in the email at all though because Ihad only been faced with an attachment that wouldn't download and it was work so luckily I was still at home.
Has anyone any ideas. I am computer and MDA literate but when it comes to registry tweaks and cooking ROMS forget it - not my thing
help
Has no one any ideas on this one - it must be something simple surely.
I have the same problem with me HTC, on both wifi-gprs each time I click on the attachment to email. It reads "Attachment will download next time you connect" I can't work that out
I dont know...but maybe it could be related to memory...
If you are having this problem with "large" files or emails maybe they do not download becase there is not enought free memory for the file in your device...
Have you set the PPC to save attachments to sotrage card or they store in main memory??
has this happened when you have a lot of mails in your inbox or with very few??
I'm just guessing here but it could be a chance...

Attachment issue with HTC Mail and Exchange ActiveSync

Has anyone else noticed this and found a solution?
I setup HTC Mail to talk to my company's ActiveSync server. It downloads and sends emails just fine, however if an email contains an attachment, I can't retrieve the attachment.
At first I had it setup not to fetch attachments. The email would show there was an attachment with the proper file size, however when I would manually force the download everything comes back as 1kb and won't open.
I changed the setting to retrieve all attachments less than 500kb (which covers 90% of them) and they still won't download and open.
I'm trying out "Exchange" by TouchDown, but seem to be running into the same issue. Even if it worked, I really didn't want to have to use multiple email clients.
Does anyone know if this is resolved in Froyo?
bump
bump anyone?
I think it requires an SD card to be installed. Download refers to /sdcard folder
Hi
I'm having exactly the same problem as you but for the moment I've got no solution have you managed to resolve it ?
If so how?
Thanks
