FYI - THis is a response that i got back after submitting a support request via the web-site (www.myxda.com). Perhaps if we all log calls with them they will get the picture of how annoying this is!

Hello,
I have a T-Mobile Equipment Model PW10B1 Pocket PC Platform, with the ROM Version: 3.14.40 ENG, Radio version: 6.18.
After contact de T-Mobile the first time about a new Upgrade, they have respond to me this:
"You will be able to download the Pocket PC 2003 Upgrade by going to:
http://www.t-mobileapps.com/downloadcenter/Software/RUUv2.07_CEv4.01.16.exe
Thank you for choosing T-Mobile
Sincerely,
T-Mobile USA, Inc.
Customer Care Specialist "
After download the Upgrade, i tried to install the Pocket PC 2003 Update, but without success: When i start the Upgrade from the directory, C:\Program Files\Pocket PC 2003 Upgrade Utility, and after the First restart of the Pocket, i see a message on the Pocket Screen " Upgrading Wireless Capabilities..", but when finally it arrives at 100%, i receive a new message "Retry Again...", and he starts to Upgrading Wireless Capabilities Again. The problem is that he does not stop repeating this operation. After six repetitions I disconect the equipment from the PC (I know that in the installation it said "DO NOT DETACH DEVICE FROM PC...", but this did not seem normal. Then I was with a problem, because the equipment did not function 100%. So, i tried to make a Full Reset on the equipment, thinking that it would come back to factory remain, but without success, because now when he starts he starts a boot T-Mobile and after that the screen is always blank, and after a few minutes he restart alone again and again. Please Help me...
I trieed to contact T-Mobile but without success, the replay i have for them:
"Upon further research of your situation, it appears that we cannot assist you via this channel. Unfortunately our group does not possess troubleshooting documentation to support this type of advanced software issue.
You will want to contact T-Mobile "Tier 3 Data Support" by calling 1-800-937-8997 and requesting to speak to the above mentioned group. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
If you have any other comments, questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us anytime.
Thank you for choosing T-Mobile.

I have already tried to contact Tier 3 Data Support, but they told to me to contact Vodafone in Portugal.

I have a problem with GPRS.
I can always connect after soft-reset. But if I try to connect again later, without resetting first, I often get error messages;
"Cannot connect for unknown reason."
"Modem not responding".
"Answering modem disconnected".
Only way to establish a new connection is to soft-reset or go into flight-mode and back. Anyone experienced similar problems? Seems like the hardware goes bad / gets disabled after one session...
(I use Vodafone in Sweden.)
I have the exact same problem on my S100 with the 1.06 ROM and can not find a solution. I e-mailed Qtek who forwarded it to Brightpoint to told me they don't know anything about it.
Brightpoint Sweden are well aware of the issue and have said it is a top level priority for HTC to sort this out and that it should hopefully be solved with the next firmware release. No date for that release available yet :-(
Mashie, bamse:
Ok, seems like a major defect. Just have to sit back and wait I guess.
Thanks!

It would probably be a lot better if everyone who has this issue contacted Brightpoint and made them aware how many it is affecting!
Contact details for Brightpoint Sweden are available at www.qtek.se.
With me being in the US Brightpoint didn't really have much to say to me.

Hi Jason,
Thank you for your e-mail but we are not the manufacture of Qtek.
We only represent and support the Swedish market. Please contact your local retailer for support and information about upgrades for your device.

My problem seems to have automatically cured itself during the weekend. I guess Telia must have made some upgrade to their network, cause I am quite sure I didn't do anything!
Just received an email direct from o2 saying that a update is due in May that will include Blackberry support.
They also confirmed that there is a known problem with the GPRS connections being lost when connecting peripherals to the connector, however they could not confirm if this will be fixed in the May update.
Care to name your source? The O2 guys I've been speaking to are insisting they have no timescale for a new rom release.
JD
I have also been told this by a company called welcom, they came in to fit car kits for all our sales reps for the XDA IIi (Andes). There was a problem with the microphone on the device and the micophone on the car kit both being on and causing a nasty echo. The man in the van told me it was a software issue and that there was a rom update due next month that will fix it.
For obvious reason I cannot give the name of the person but,
I work for a large corporate who deals with o2 for both voice and Blackberry functionallity, I had been told in January that there would be a Blackberry connect client for the XDA IIi. I therefore asked for an upadate regarding the Blackberry client and also if the bugs would be fixed and that is how I've found out about the May release.
I suspect that o2 corporate support have access & know far more than the standard customer support teams, and for this reason feel confident that there will be an update.
Well for OBVIOUS reasons you cant name your source....reason being they obviously arnt as reliable as you think because here we are and NO new ROM and NO Blackberry support.
Give your source my regards
erm, there's an image for it here on our very own FTP server!

I am also looking for a solution to this problem too...
Stevebristol, I don't know why people try to help when they receive posts like yours.....
But if it helps I've received a further update regarding the update, as you have nicely pointed out, its late...., and I have been told that it could be at least another six weeks, possibly longer.
No details as to what the update may include, but maybe the delay is due to a new OS update instead of a few bug fixes.
It would be nice if o2 included the new OS, Skype & Blackberry support, before I'm slated again, this has not been promised by o2, just my guess
I do think what was said regarding your source is a little harsh...not wishing to cast criticism myself but being involved in a MAJOR IT project for the Government means you're frequently exposed to delays in rollouts and Go-Lives...
I'm guilty of moaning regarding the release of o2 updates etc, but I have always known the reasons behind them based on my own experiences. Unforeseen errors during testing, new bugs found that crop up as a result of implementing fixes for others, etc, etc, the list goes on and on.
Cheers
Ant
Does anyone have any idea when the update will be available for the XDAIIi?
I keep checking the O2 website... and there is no mention of it. Could it be an urban myth?!
I've had my XDAIIi for three months now and I'm getting a little tired of the poor signal strength, freezing phone, unstable messaging software, poor camera picture quality, etc, etc. The XDAIIi does everything I want it to... but doesn't manage to do any of it well. I was really hoping that this update would solve at least some of my woes.
I'm even contemplating turning it into a paperweight, and reverting back to my trusty iPAQ, SD card camera and Nokia 6310i.
So I guess you are telling that it would simply be better iff Nokia buys HTC?
Hi guys
I actually work for O2 - I am a Device Specialist
I CAN confirm that there WILL be a ROM update released soon.
However there is no confirmed date for this. We cannot get any more infomation on when it will actually be released.
My advice is to just keep checking http://www.my-xda.com and if I find out anything more I will post on here
Hi Paul,
will this include Blackberry email support.
I used this on my XDA2 and went without it when I upgraded to a 2i on the promise it would be coming 'soon' that was back in March.

Thanks Paul.
I won't abandon hope just yet, then.
Maybe you could try and find out what fixes the ROM update will include?
Probably the same as the i-mate ROM with O2 customisations lol.
Doubt it will be anything great.
I can comfirm that the update will include blackberry support - I think the manufacturers realised they kinda made a mistake not allowing blackberry in the updated handset!
As to other updates, were just as in the dark as you guys - you would be suprised how little we are actually involved with the manufacturer.

reboot and free youself!
Why not just do a hard reset and install as 'corporate'
(you'll need code 0506)
buy 'sbp pocket plus' and relax.....zzzz
Device is a lot more stable and no more annoying o2 menus
enjoy!

So how would you programatically default the install to Corporate and add in the GPRS settings at the same time?
Why not just install the i-mate ROM and never worry about O2 crap again
Hi everyone,
This is my first post. I don't own any Pocket PC yet. I was hoping the HTC Universal would be my first. I had been lurking around this web site for a while now, trying to find a cheaper way of getting an O2 XDA EXEC.
Last night I e-mailed O2's customer support and got a response. They gave me a number to call, although they stated that they don't deliver outside the UK, they gave me a number to further inquire. Maybe if more of us could call, then maybe we could change their minds. I am attaching a copy of the reponse letter so that hopefully some light may shine our way.
Goodluck everyone.

Sometime over the weekend Orange UK have released a new update for the SPV M3100.
Although the software update page still shows the April 07 update, if you click the "downloads & support" tab the top link will download the new October 07 update (50.7mb).
Download Link http://www.orange.co.uk/business/downloads/SPV_M3100_ROMUpdate_1007.exe
UPDATE: This is not the awaited Windows Mobile 6.0 upgrade, but another, seemingly pointless Windows Mobile 5.0 release.
UPDATE 2: Just been phoned by Orange UK support to an e-mail I sent to them at the end of last week...they still protest that there will be no official Windows Mobile 6.0 upgrade released by Orange UK for the SPV M3100...even thought a number of us have has e-mails to the contrary. The data team will be phoning me back leter this evening once I get home from work...and will update you all with the result of the conversation.
Updates 3 & 4
Update 3
Orange UK customer support rung 4 times on Monday night, with the final call being escalated to the department manager. Every excuse under the sun was made for them not to give me the information I was requesting:
"Didn't know what it was..."
"Can't find your request..." etc.
The department manager said he'd contact the data team to find out what was going on...why they didn't do this in the first place is beyond me.
Update 4
The support department manager phoned to 6pm last night to say he hadn't any news as of yet from the data team, and that he wouldn't be in the office on Wednesday (today) and that he will contact me tomorrow...

This update enables HSDPA. Hers's the complete list:
1) Phase in Orange New Security Policy.
2) Call management - when user tries to switch to a second incoming call the incoming caller no longer gets the engaged tone.
3) Correction of issue related to viewing streaming video in full screen mode.
4) Phase in the new MMS version to fix SMIL format compatibility issue.
5) The Line 2 VMI issue is fixed in this ROM.
6) The changes to US timezones are included in this ROM.
7) Phase in the SAP-Profile application in the Accessory folder to fix the Nokia 616 Carkit issue.
8) Phase in the new Dialer application.
9) Enable Vista support.
10) Enhancements to SPV M3100 device performance and stability.
11) HSDPA support is enabled.

2, 8, 10 and 11 are of interest to me. What is "Orange New Security Policy" all about?
I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for WM6 for the M3100 but this is the second update they have released to you never know. Here's hoping.
Update 5
Well, Thursday came and went...so did Friday, Saturday & Sunday. And still no return phone call from Orange
In the end, I phoned them on Monday evening when I got home from work...to the usual answer "Sorry, don't know anything about it."...spent 15 minutes re-outlining the problem and the issues with the current support structure Orange UK have adopted.
The support agent then comes back with "Oh, I've found your previous support call details..." (I wasted 15 minutes due to incompetence) "...but the person you were speaking to previously, works in another office and cannot transfer your call. I will have to email him to get him to phone you back."
I was fuming at this point, and told her I expected the return phone call by the close of the support hours...and surprise, surprise I didn't!!!
I'll give them until 18:00 tonight before I phone them back again...
Sherlock...any updates on this?
Update 6
Well, I had to phone Orange again last night...as I've still had no phone call from the person I spoke to last week. Spoke to a very nice lass who, after I again had to explain what was my support request, phoned me back 15 minutes after my original call with an update...
and I quote "The update would be too big for our website..." as she was speaking about the Orange UK Home Page website and not the Orange Business Services - homepage
This was ok, as when I re-explained the support call I forgot to mention the all updates for the SPV M3100 were held on the business site and not the normal site.
So, the up-shot of all this is...I will have to wait for her to get back to me next week with more information...when she has come back from her 3 day off rotation (fri, sat & sun) and had change to chase up the info from the business section.
One thing she did admit though was that "Orange are very slow at releasing anything..." which we all new anyway.
Will post any new information when I receive it...
Having put on the latest upgrade
(Hi Paul, I think we conversed on pocket gps !)
How do I go about downgrading the phone back to the version originally on the phone 13 months ago ?.
I can't believe how much a simple upgrade could scr*w up my phone. Yes the basics work but I only get the BT handsfree with one way audio (no TX only RX) My TTOne will now not communicate with phone to do traffic updates which it has done perfectly for months and the M3100 has crashed 6 times today in a matter of 4 hours....Arrrrrrr!!!
Original firmware please, pretty please, look I'm now grovelling...anyone ?
Next step see if I can get a phone upgrade after 13 1/2 months from orange in a 18 month contract ?
Phil
what is Radio version number in this ROM ?

Hi Phil,
Yes...it's me. Mike Alder can be seen around these parts too.
Sorry to hear that you've had problems. The latest ROM has been just fine for me.
Have a look at WM6...that could (possibly) solve your problems. I'm currently toying with the idea of installing the Schaps 4.01 WM6 ROM.
Hi Paul,
small world. or should that be small WWW
Would be handy to have a previous version of firmware to roll back to should I need it..
Tried a little update to solve a problem with the BT and tomtom unit I found on here but still no joy... Ah well, technology is great (when it does as it's told !!)
Right must let this thread return to it's originators request, don't want to hijack it..
Cheers Phil
