How t remove T-Mobile colours from your device

So here is the procedure of getting rid of T-Mobile's customization:
The whole proccess means you will do a hard reset and you will be installing everything from the beggining! So if you don't want that to happen you have to stay with T-Mobile's customization!
Step 1
Hard reset your MDA Compact (power+soft reset). Do all the neccesary steps (choosing your country and timezone) and when you get in the screen that tells you to tap the screen in order to start working have your stylus at the soft-reset hole tap the screen with your finger and do a soft reset IMMMEDIAELY AFTER YOU TAP THE SCREEN!
Step 2
Your MDA compact will restart without any customization it will be a clean Windows Mobile 2003SE. With the file manager go to the Extended ROM folder that is now visible and install the following files:
Caller_ID_WWE_RC10.CAB
Camera_Patch_WWE_B15.sa.CAB
GPRSMonitor_WWE.sa.CAB
Java_10.1.2.57_WWE.CAB
MMS_2.0.0.13_WWE.CAB
MMS_Settings_WWE_NL.CAB (This file will install the settings of T-Mobile NL but if you don't install it and then change the settings to your providers settings most probably will end up with MMS that does not work. So install those settings and change them accordingly to your providers settings)
Patch_101123.sa.CAB
Version_WWE_101124.sa.CAB
Zip_Magician_T-Mobile_WWE_B12.CAB
Those are all the files you need to install. For those who need intellipad and intellidialer they will also have to install the 2 files for those programs.

intellidialler does not work
I have a T-mobile MDA Compact in the UK.
If I follow these instructions it works fine - thanks. (SOme of the CAB files are UK versions or have later version numbers.
1. Is there a list anywhere of what each of these CAB files does?
2. The Dialler becomes crappy (formatting numbers in the US way, and not searching for contacts). The default microsoft colours are much more intuitive for showing missed calls/received calls etc in the recent calls list than the T-mobile palette, but i can't make the dialler search the address book in the very clever way it usually does. The intillidialler won't install either.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Nigel.
Has anyone found decent versions of intellipad and intellidialler to install after doing the debrand on a UK Compact?
Quick question, i did all this and it worked fine for me, orange sim is working happily away when i unlocked the device via IMEI check and installed the orange rom but i've lost the clearvue products suite. I've looked in the extended rom partition but i can't find it
love this thing tho...still fiddling with it 2 months down the line
and how do i get the default microsoft colours?

cut-off brand on xda II

I have a XDA II branded o2, I would like do not have anymore the "o2 activate user interface". can anyone help me?
I post its detail:
Rom Version 1.66.00WWE
Rom date 02/20/04
Radio Version 1.10.00
goto start settings remove programs, and u should find, v2r o2activeui under there remove that and it should solve it..
...
Or do a hard-reset and after the initialization it starts a count-down progress(3sec) to autoinstallation. During this countdown do a soft-reset. The autoinstallation will not start and you get a whole device without any add.software. Then install an ExtROM unlock tool(below)and unhide the ExtROM. Then you can install manually the apps, which you need. O2 customisation is one of them.
Excellent post, had to reply to say thanks for that tool, it's been duly added to my arsenal of anti-O2 'improvement' tools!
can't you also select Corporate install and feed it the PIN 0506 for it to de-brand itself?
I personally prefer a custom cooked ExtROM, but this apparently works too

As the activeUI is invariably in use, its never that simple.
You'll have to remove the startup entries from the windows/startup folder then soft reset then have a go.

How to remove T-Mobile's customization

Hello Everyone,
I have MDA COMPACT on t-mobile, and i have tried to change the themes but i cant change the bizzare T-mobile theme, it comes up in every where with t-mobile
colors. So does someone did this whithout any problems, Please let me know any easy way ....
Thanks
Some programs are install from the EXT-Rom,they can't be removed from control panel.I think you need to modify or "unlock"your EXT-ROM install list with a tool, then try to remove them or do a hard-reset.May be someone has a better idea.
If you are only unsatisfied with your GPRS or network setting, you can just delete the setting in "connection"
The easyiest way to do it is:
- make a full backup
- Hard Reset
- align screen
- soft reset during 3 sec. count down before autoinstall of software included in Extended Rom.
Now U have clean system with full acces to extended rom so U can install all needed software manually (ie. MMS composer, BT patch, camera software).

how do i remove programs like "HotSpots" from Star

any 1?
I have programs like: Email Setup, O2active...
1) how do i remove them so that after a HR they will return ??
2) i managed to find Email setup - but after deleting the files - i still have blanc shortcut in Start>Programs saying email-setup (with empty icon).
why?
can i remove only shortcuts but keep the program?
These things you wanna remove are installed everythime you hard reset. THey are programs in the extended ROM. These are customizations to WM5 that the retailer (imate, o2,qtek, t-mobile) put on the device.
If you don't want to install any of these do the following:
1. Hard Reset Device.
2. you'll go thru a series of screens:
2.1 Welcome Message
2.2 Align Screen
2.3 Tap and Hold tutorial
2.4 Password Configuration
2.5 Ending Screen that asks you to press screen to continue.
3. RIGHT AFTER step 2.5 (after you tap the screen) press the RESET hole.
This will bypass installing all the files in extended ROM which normally shown by a progress bar at the bottom everytime you do a normal hard reset.
4. Now you can Install the stuff in the extended ROM one at a time. Only the ones you need to install. To access the ExtendedROM (it is hidden) download Total Commander (search thru google) and type \EXTENDED_ROM in the navigation window and it will display the contents of the extended ROM.
I don't have O2 so i cannot explain to you what each individual .CAB file does. Just use a little guess work. THe O2Active, i believe is easily spotted. It's the biggest CAB file. Don't click on it so it won't install.
Tell me if this helped you out or if you need more clarifications.
Hola Jorge
First of all - Thanks for the great explanation !!
Although I do want most of the stuff, i already tried corporate mode (clean install) but I missed a lot of things.
therefor I installed Basic mode. (which hasnt got ALL the features)
But - some of the features i DO want to take away.
(NOT FROM EXT ROM)
only for now... programs in the Start>Program>
Lets say I wanna take the games away...
where are all the programs installed TO ??
I found some of them. but when I deleted the email setup for instance -
I still have an empty Email Icon in START>PROGRAMS>
(again i remind U - I wanna leave the ext rom as it is)
10x again !!
Some features in the ExtROM are installed in Corporate mode too, the sure way to customize is to bypass ExtROM, then install one-by-one the .CAB files you want.
Anyway regarding the Games, etc. they are part of the OS so cannot be uninstalled unless they came with the extended ROM like Backgammon that came with the JASJAR ExtROM.
To delete the ICON that is blank but still has text, go to \WINDOWS\START MENU\PROGRAMS\GAMES
You'll find the shortcut there. Or just to \WINDOWS\START MENU to see all the oter shortcuts in case you wanna remove other stuff.
The games are installed in WINDOWS and a shortcut is created to the Star Menu Directory. Just delete the shortcut.
What does "10x again !!" mean?

Changing ROM from Orange to i-Mate

OK, I understand how to do it with either the NoID updater or with HTC64 - that's not the problem...
What I want to know is this: if I change the Orange ROM to the latest i-Mate ROM, what happens to all the Orange network settings? Will I lose them or will the update only affect OS-type things?
Alternatively, which files in the Orange ROM will I need to replace in the i-Mate ROM (if I cook up a ROM of my own) in order to get the speed of the i-Mate ROM with all the Orange settings?

I guess it depends on which settings. If you are talking about mobile operator settings (like MMS, SMS, GPRS) then they are normally stored in a cab file in the extended ROM so all you have to do is copy the Orage extendedrom to your hard drive, flash the imate ROM, then install the appropriate cab file from the orange rom by copying it to the sd card and double clicking.
If you are talking about other settings (Wallpaper, splash screens, etc.) then this is ROM specific.
I may be wrong but I guess this is how it is.
It's just mobile operator settings I'm after.
I'm worried that once I install the i-Mate ROM I won't be able to use my phone. I know there's a long post that gives all the Orange settings but it just seems silly to have to enter them manually if there's a cab file that does it all for you, you know?
Thinking about it, could I install the i-Mate ROM then run the appropriate Orange cab file?
I believe that's what i said in my message
Hehe these settings are stored in your extendedROM. Do you know how to access ExtendedROM?
Give me a list of the files you have there.....I'm sure you can spot the operator settings. Or if you want, install Imate ROM then bypass it's extendedROM then install all orange CAB files that you transfered from ExtendedROM of orange to the PC.
Yes, I've already got the Extended ROM visible and writable.
This is the complete list of CAB files in the SPV M5000 Extended ROM:
CAB-Customization-OrangeUK-Universal-01-05-15Aug05.CAB
CAB-Shortcut-Orange-19Aug05.CAB
Enable_VT_RTPlugin_0727_2_signed.CAB
Signed_DiscoButton8.sa.CAB
Signed_Orange_SuspendResume.sa.CAB
Signed_Orange_UAString.sa.CAB
Signed_ORUK_Conn.sa.CAB
Signed_ORUK_Customize.sa.CAB
Signed_ORUK_HomeScreenReg.sa.CAB
Signed_ORUK_SoundSetting_USSDAlarm.CAB
Signed_ORUK_Version.sa.CAB
Signed_pIE_Fav.sa.CAB
Signed_SSD_BTUR_Patch_For_BT_Cannot_Initial.sa.CAB
Signed_SSD_Shortcut_WWE.sa.CAB
Signed_SSD_WLanMgr_Orange_Icon_WWE.sa.CAB
Signed_UNI_pIE_View_Set.sa.CAB
UI_Orange_UK_0727.cab
UNI_BrowserPerformance.sa.CAB
UNI_Orange_2G3G_icon.sa.CAB
How about this, try this:
1. Install Imate ROM
2. Unlock/Unhide ExtendedROM
3. Delete Imate ExtendedROM and copy everything from the Orange ExtendedROM
4. Hard Reset
This will install the orange extended ROM
Now if you get some trouble with security/signing, there is a cab file in the XDA DEV ftp site that can handle this.... Just make the extended rom run this first before everything else.
OR
Just hard reset, bypass extended rom install, unlock/unhide extended ROM and then click on the files one at a time

Hi Guys,
New here , so please forgive all stupidity....
I've got the new jasjar rom, about to flash my Orange SPV M5000, I'm currently running it without the orange customization, ie, i hard reset, reloaded the rom, then soft reset to avoid orange rubbish being, loaded, then manually reset the gprs etc,
If i flash the jasjar, will i get the same situation, but a quicker phone?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
James
Er....why did no-one mention that after installing the i-Mate ROM the phone then asks which operator you're with and then sets itself up accordingly?
Im an M5000 owner too that was wondering about flashing to the imate rom...
Im after the microsoft direct push client thats on the new imate rom.
OK, plucked up the courage to upgrade to the jasjar rom, but I get a country ID error message,
Any ideas?
James.
Did you put the PPC in bootloader mode first?
Did you use MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe?
No, where do i get that from?
i just ran the jasjar rom exe....
Any ideas now?
J.
Extract all the files from the Jasjar .exe file to one folder with WinZip.
Replace "ROMUpgradeUt.exe" with "MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe" - you'll find it below.
Disconnect your phone from the USB cable.
Press and hold LIGHT + POWER + RESET until the screen goes white and it says "serial" at the top.
Plug in the USB cable. "Serial" will change to USB.
Double-click on "MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe" - the PC and phone will do the rest.
If you get a country error, just repeat the process.
download roms
where can I download the imate extended rom and the orange extended rom?
thanks for that, i've opened with Win Rar and got two folders OutputFile and RUU_Tools.
Sound right?
Then I drop the maupgrade app into RUU/Universal/WWE?
All good?
Thanks,
J.
Also, if i run the ma upgrade , nothing happens.....get the run dialog, then nothing.........
Ideas?
Ta,
J.

Copy everything from the 2 folders into one folder then run the maupgrade from there.
Rememebr to be in bootloader mode before running MAUPGRADE and remove the SD card before upgrading

Did you backup to your PC the Orange ExtendedROM? The Settings customizations were there.
If not try the XDA DEV FTP site. THey have extendedROM's there for download. Don't know if they have Orange ROM but just download it then put in SD card and run the appropriate CAB file.
Check the wiki of xda dev for instructions on how to connect to FTP site
