cut-off brand on xda II - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

I have a XDA II branded o2, I would like do not have anymore the "o2 activate user interface". can anyone help me?
I post its detail:
Rom Version 1.66.00WWE
Rom date 02/20/04
Radio Version 1.10.00

goto start settings remove programs, and u should find, v2r o2activeui under there remove that and it should solve it..

...
Or do a hard-reset and after the initialization it starts a count-down progress(3sec) to autoinstallation. During this countdown do a soft-reset. The autoinstallation will not start and you get a whole device without any add.software. Then install an ExtROM unlock tool(below)and unhide the ExtROM. Then you can install manually the apps, which you need. O2 customisation is one of them.

Excellent post, had to reply to say thanks for that tool, it's been duly added to my arsenal of anti-O2 'improvement' tools!

can't you also select Corporate install and feed it the PIN 0506 for it to de-brand itself?
I personally prefer a custom cooked ExtROM, but this apparently works too

As the activeUI is invariably in use, its never that simple.
You'll have to remove the startup entries from the windows/startup folder then soft reset then have a go.

I used to own an O2 xda2 and the only time I saw that option was on hard reset, I cant look through the extended rom on mine to see if anything is there because I am running an Orange spv1000. Have you looked through the extended rom for anything that looks like a config program?

How can i do it!?
thx

Lockups also occur even with the corporate edition (ie no O2 customisation).

IIWPO: Theft protection also proven on Wizard

Based of the IIWPO solution initially meant for Wallaby devices (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=2526), I created a customizable installer for Himalaya:
See the Wiki page on IIWPO
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/IIWPO
Hopefully IIWPO suprises a lot of thiefs!!!!!
IIWPO has proven that it is also fully functional on Wizard. I guess this means it woll be working on WM5 devices in general.
One remark: Due to the different memory behaviour under WM5 you might notice IIWPO does not send an SMS immediately after you change the onwer-info (ie. for test purposes). But it definitely will when the device is woken up after some time!
I followed every step and it isn't working for me.
I checked every setting after installing and everything is in the right folder / registry.
I rebooted my Wizard several times (poweroff button / pen soft-reset) and it never send an SMS.
WM2005
edsub:
How do you get around the fact that WM2005 no longer has a useful extended rom and config.txt? Do you now install a iiwpo.exe into the \Windows\Start-up folder?
Any ideas on how to hide it successfully the way it used to be in a hidden and locked extended Rom?

I guess you did personalize the platformxxx.reg file (put in your own data, note the phone# needs to be in international format).
If then the registry just contains the correct data, ie YOUR correct name and SOMEONE's phone# (to send to sms to) I cannot imagine it is not working. The SMS should be sent when your device is woken-up (by just pressing power button). Afaik the SMS is not sent when the device is switched on (ie. after pressing power button 5 secs) or a reset.

Until there is a decent solution the trick is:
-Backup your OS & radio rom using aWizard tools
-Flash with an 1.5.x ROM using regular procedure (RUU)
-Create your own ExtROM (its writable in this version)
-Restore your backed-up OS & Radio ROM using aWizard tools
Advantage of this is the thief also cannot purge the ExtROM (without upgrading) . . .

As KJam is a Wizard also there is no reason why it should not work
is it possible to use this tool, but without locking the ExtendenRom and without rom upgrade?
even if it is less safe...I prefer using my Extended Rom for some applications but also prefer not to upgrade my Qteck9100 yet.
So I have put it all in the extended rom, but will this 'Config.txt' and 'Autorun.exe' be invoked on a hard reset when the Extende Rom is not locked...
when installing, should i install it in the extende rom or in the device itself?
thanks for the great tips!

Himalaya + WM2005
edsub:
Referring to your reply, sorry I failed to mention I am using Himalaya and enjoyed the iiwpo up until I upgrade to WM2005, after which the extended rom became a useless memory area for Hima devices and was therefore re-claimed with buzz's DOCtools.
Does the extrom in wizard wm5 still have a purpose? As far as I know the files like config.ini never get called by wm5?
Also, Is the current release a rewrite for WM5 or still the same version since 2003 1st edition?
How can i unnistall IIWPO ? I need real HELP pls
Hi guys
I installed IIWPO in my Qtek9100 (Wizard), followed all steps and it doesnt work.
So I decide to unistall it.
I did it from Revome Programs option and with resco i removed registry key .
Now when i do a soft reset i receive allways a Notification Error Mess : Cannot execute \windows\IIWPO_main.exe
This appears also during phone calls !!!
Apps are not in \windows and no more in \windows\startup, registry key is not there. What can i do more ?
Please I need HELP
Thanks
Jorge
My guess is that non-functioning has to do with localized versions of WM5.
The cab uses hard-coded pathnames (needed by setup.dll, especially during the customisation process)
It is confirmed that un-install issues have to do with a left-behind notification in the notification db.
Use Check Notifications by scarybear software to get rid of all IIWPO notifications OR do a hard reset
I updated the IIWPO wiki on this

AKU2.2 will re-enable clock in Title Bar

http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2006/04/28/586453.aspx
On the WM Team Blog they address the reaction to the nearly worthless battery icon replacing the clock. Good news is that ROMs using AKU2.2 and later will allow you to add the clock back in, bad news is that the current JasJar ROM (1.30.76) doesn't seem to have the 2.2 release of AKU.
Can people with other carrier's ROMs check to see if the registry edit they provide works with your ROM?
The egistry edit is to add a DWORD titled ShowTitleBarClock with the value of 1 in the HKEYLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Shell location.
Didn't work for me
Doesn't work in the latest dopod rom 1.30.111 either...
The message on the MS site is from yesterday, and the guy is speaking of a "further release", i think AKU 2.2 don't exist yet
btw: isn't working on my wizard too
AKU 2.2.1 exists...
this is the nessesery file, you need to replace the existing one with this one (windows directory)
and add
[HKEYLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Shell]
"ShowTitleBarClock"=dword:1
this is only for AKU 2.0!
!!!Attention: Make a backup and read through this tropic!!!
Problems with Universal roms!!!!
Perhaps related to the certification. Plz someone with removed certification try this... and post the results.
RE
The shell32.exe file in my QTEK 9000 is located in ROM something which you cannot copy out.
Does a soft reset reverts back to original battery icon if I'll to replace with the attached shell32.exe file?
After the battery icon is replaced by the clock icon, can I add a date to it also using any known method to put a date on top of the clock?
I believe a hard reset will definitely reverts back to the original battery icon, right?
Thanks
only a hard reset reverts back to the original.
add a date: I think so... not tested, but it should work.
I have a special rom where it is possible to overwrite system files, but It could be difficult to replase shell32.exe on a normal rom and I cant make a cab, because I dont know how to sign that.
plz someone with the knowledge about that make a cab.
don't bother, because even if you replace the shell32.dll, it wont restart, displaying the keyboard and getting stuck there.
You will have to hard reset and restore from a backup to get back your device.
A word of warning - back up before trying this. It hosed my universal. It would not even finish booting, and I had to hard reset.

Ok, I realy sorry.
It works for me...
Himalaya (rom based on 2.00a)
On my ROM (Qtek latest) in \Shell\Taskbar there's a regkey LimitedClock set to 1. If I set that to 0, the clock will at least display everywhere except Today, both in landscape and portrait modes. With it set to 0 as per standard, the clock only shows up while in apps *and* landscape, apps/portrait it doesn't. As long as the Today screen time&date plugin is switched on, this means you've always got the clock. BTW, needs a softreset to activate, Taskbar settings apparently are only read on first startup.

I'm sure you realise this is a universal forum? You should edit your post to remove your file before somebody else zaps it's unit.
I dont think so, because the os is the same.
My rom is not realy Himalaya, it is a ported wizard os and only the drivers of Himalaya.
So the file should work on all WM5 devices, perhaps the problem is related to the removed certification on Him 2.0 rom's.
(This file is from an Atom rom not Himalaya)
But you are right, I edited the post.
Disablesecurity.cab, replace shell32.exe with new, softreset
Hangs at boot with the soft keyboard superimposed over the boot screen. Hard reset to fix.
Basically, avoid this for a while.
......or use Wisbar Advance 2 and you have your clock back on the Today screen....

You can access that feature simply by going to the date/time settings and enabling "Display the clock on the title bar in all programs" on the |More| tab.
O2 xda Atom have AKU2.2.1 and it really works no more battery icon.

Hello,
It is my first post on this forum.
Yesterday, I unlocked my frensh SPVM3000 (Wizard) and tried to replace my "shell32.exe" by the "shell32.exe" downloadable on this post.
It was a BAD idea! My SPV starting crashed because it was for Universal smartphone. I used the button sequence to re-install the original software.
Have you an address where I can download the "shell32.exe" of the Wizard AKU 2.2 software?
Thanks for your help.

How to unlock extend rom?

Anybody can tell me how to unlock extend rom?thanks.
Sorry, i make a mistake!
Have the hermes ext rom ulocker been tested on an artemis? Earlier attempts with wizard ext rom unlocker on artemis managed to unlock the extended rom for a short while (at least made contents visible though not really removable)...but after soft resets strange things would happen with the extended rom...it would sometimes be visible and at other times not.
Has the hermes ext rom unlocker been tested for stability on the artemis? Does it allow use of the extended rom or just visibility?
Looking forward to your answer.

well mr "moderator" wlinsong,
how about checking on the info you spread!?
WRONG WRONG, WRONG, not functioning!
The versions you are claiming to unlock the extrom have more than once screwed up the extroms of the people using them. afaik, the cited versions allow you to see the extrom, fiddle with it, and once you reboot the machine your extrom is screwed up, or rather not loading on reset any more.
there are numerous cases of users cited on this forum who experienced so!

The ExtROM unlocker by Buzz for the Universal (see Universal topics) works on both my Universal and Artemis.
After unlocking you need to unhide the ExtROM, by doing the following in the register:
[HKLM\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\TRUEFFS_DOC1]
Bootphase=dword:2
[HKLM\System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1]
MountHidden=dword:0
JayRay's solution not working for me
JayRay,
I tried your suggestion but the external rom remains unlocked. As usual, to start with it looks like you can write files to external rom but after a soft reset they are all gone.
Let me know if you manage to have a stable unlocked rom.
Same here (T-mob NL). The utility from Buzz doesn't give a popup message either, does it run on the artemis properly anyway?

Weird...
The ExtROM became visible by applying the reg tweaks I mentioned before, and I used the Uni ExtROM unlocker to try to unlock it.
The popup message that appeared on my Uni didn't come on the Artemis, but after clicking on the file I just went through a soft reset.
That was all. The ExtROM was really unlocked and still visible.... and seems to stay that way.
A good way to test if it's really unlocked is to try and install a program (cab) into the extrom. If you can install it and the program works then you are clearly unlocked. Have you done this?
Thanx

Hi JayRayMee
Some Noob questions
After you unlock and unhide the EXTRom, how did you add the programs that you like. Is it just copying the cab files onto the EXTRom? How do you remove programs that you dont like? And is there a way to hide it again after you add up your programs?
Cheers

The ExtROM, once unlocked, just behaves like any other SD card storage.
By reversing the reg tweaks as mentioned before, you can hide the ExtROM again.

regarding the extrom...

hello everyone!
i am running wm06 for a while now and have to admit, its fckng great!
i upgraded from wm2003 directly to wm06, so its like two different worlds...
but when i was upgrading, i did not manage to merge the extrom with the rest of the storage, the unhide and unlock thing just didn't work!
but as i am now sure, that i wont need to roll back to 2003 again, merging the extrom with the rest of the storage would only make it better, no disadvantages, am i right?
or am i needing the extrom in wm06?
how is it used in wm06?
or is it just wasted space....?
as u can easily see, i am still a little confused about all that....
here are some specs from my device:
ROM Version: 5.60.00 WWE
ROM Date: 03/02/05
Radio Version: 1.15.00
Protocol Version: 1337.45
ExtROM Version: - (nothing here...??? is that bad??)
STORAGE:
total: 42,92MB
in use: 28,26MB
free: 14,66MB
PROGRAM:
total: 109,12MB
in use: 40,23MB
free: 68,90MB
thx for any help,
regards,
krz
ExtROM: Extended ROM - is the section of the ROM which the distributor of the phone (eg O2, T-Mobile, iMate, etc) store their customization (eg Today theme, ring tones, extra software) data.
In WM2003 you may found your phone having hardreset quite often - thats because WM2003 use RAM as program-storage (RAM lose everything when battery is drained)
In WM5/6 you are not using RAM as a storage anymore thus not performing hardreset often (typically once during flash)
By performing ExtROM merge, you're going to have extra MB in storage. There is NO DISADVANTAGE.
Those who prefer to have an ExtROM for whatever reason (they may HardReset their phone quite often because of testing/developing/whatever) place the "ExtROM" folder in Storage Card (Memory card/SD/MMC) and after HR it gets installed as usual. Or you can install fixes and addons "one by one".
Read more information here : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_Understand
----
To sum it up :
You dont need to merge your ExtROM (it cost you some MB)
* How to merge / is here : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardMain
thx a lot for your answer, kerio...!!
if i understood you right, the EXTROM is of NO USE at all in WM06.
so if not merged before upgrading, it will be just invisible and unused space.... am i right?
if so, i would of course prefer to merge the EXTROM with the rest of the storage to gain more free megabytes....
will the total storage size be 60,3MB after merging, like i have seen in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326515 ?!?
is it possible to merge the EXTROM after having WM06 installed?
can i merge EXTROM without reinstalling WM06 and all programs?
btw: unhiding and unlocking is NOT working on my device....
when clicking UNHIDE, nothing happens,
when clicking UNLOCK i get the following error:
Code:
ERROR: FL_IOCTL_BDTL_HW_PROTECTION - The parameter is incorrect.
what am i doing wrong??
i know, that are a lot of questions, but i would be very thankful if someone could help me with that...
thx in advance!
regards,
krz
bump bump
I would also be interested if somebody suuggests new solutions for "big storage" as my device does accept unlock and unhide, but when using "repart_DOC.exe" it gives me errors and eosn't repartition the ROM...
Downgrade to WM2003 , play da game and flash to wm6
Xeon's got the idea. You will need to to downgrade to WM2003, unlock, unhide and repartition the extrom. Once complete then flash up to the WM6.
I had to do the same thing, as I had not correctly repartitioned the extrom when I moved up too WM5. Good luck.
hello and thx a lot for all your ansers!
how many MBs will I gain from merging EXTROM?
and is there a way to use that space without merging?
anyone knows??
i have wm2003 and i can't unhide , unlock, or format doc, cos everytime i'm trying i can see , FL_IOCTL_BDTL_HW_PROTECTION the parameter is incorrect, can anyone help me?

Dear kerio,
I did read the Wiki regarding the ExtROM for more than 3 three times, I can't get any informations that we can't modify the ExtROM in OS wm5.0 or wm6.0 from the thread - Understanding the Blue Angle Extended ROM:-
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_Understand
Understanding the Blue Angle Extended ROM
The Extended ROM is shipped as ms_.nbf and loaded with the BaUpgradeUt.exe
The ms_.nbf is extracted during the Upgrade and written to folder \Extended_Rom
The \Extended_Rom folder is hidden and read only
The Extended ROM can un hidden with the following tool Unlock tool
The Extended ROM is limited to 16MB in size
The Numbering of the Extended ROM is operator dependent:
Thus a QTEK version 1.22.225 might or might not have higher patches than a I-Mate version 1.22.62
Extended ROMs are built around the major OS release (1.22, 1.31)
It is NOT advisable to install cabs from a Extended ROM if the Windows Mobile 2003 Version are not the same
It is NOT advisable to install patches if the CE versions (1.22, 1.31) are different.
(They might have already been included in that CE version.)
Execution of the Extended ROM
CheckAutorun.exe (which is started from \Windows\Startup\CheckAutorun.lnk) executes the AutoRun.exe
AutoRun.exe is found in the \Extended_Rom Folder
AutoRun.exe reads the \Extended_Rom\Config.txt and executes the commnands in that file
The pointer for AutoRun.exe HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AutoRun is set to \Extended_ROM\AutoRun
The pointer for Config.txt HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AutoRunCFG is set to \Extended_ROM\AutoRunCFG
The Touch screen is disabled by the first command (TPDisable.exe)in the Config.txt
The Touch screen is enabled by the 2nd to last command (TPEnable.exe)in the Config.txt
The last Command of the config.txt (RST) performs a soft reset
Content of the Extended ROM
The Extended ROM consists of System files (TPDisable.exe, TPEnable.exe, AutoRun.exe, Config.txt)
The Extended ROM consists of *.CAB installation files
The installation files fall into the following types
Applications: Album, Fax, Zip
Patches for the Hardware: Button9 on the Hardware Keyboard
Patches for the software: Blue tooth upgrade
Provider specific files and programs: Splash screen, Internet Explorer defaults, telco settings, etc.
Effects of a Hard Reset
A Hard Reset will NOT re-extract the ms_.nbf
A Hard Reset will reload the contents of the \Extended_Rom folder
A Hard Reset will reload the OS and thus also clean the registry
Why is this of interest to me?
The Extended ROM can be cooked (Customize the ROM to your own liking)
What ever you put in the \Extended_Rom folder will remain even after a Hard Reset
The \Storage will not be overwritten on a Hard Reset
Thus one is able to keep CAB files on \Storage for automatic reinstallation after a Hard Reset
You can keep your "customized" Extended ROM and only perform a OS or Radio Upgrade

"you must revert back to WM2003" - may be found at other threads but i think this thread "Understanding the Blue Angle Extended ROM" should include this message.
Thank you.
I dont think so
When performing upgrade you should follow the instruction (WM5 and WM6 pages) when you dont - then you may find yourself in trouble.
1. The main page is only for WM2003
2. Error message -> google -> sollution (30sec)
3. You can add it to the wiki (anyone can)
Effects of a Hard Reset
A Hard Reset will NOT re-extract the ms_.nbf
A Hard Reset will reload the contents of the \Extended_Rom folder
A Hard Reset will reload the OS and thus also clean the registry
Why is this of interest to me?
The Extended ROM can be cooked (Customize the ROM to your own liking)
What ever you put in the \Extended_Rom folder will remain even after a Hard Reset The \Storage will not be overwritten on a Hard Reset
Thus one is able to keep CAB files on \Storage for automatic reinstallation after a Hard Reset
You can keep your "customized" Extended ROM and only perform a OS or Radio Upgrade

I still have some questions:-
- Why my *.cab files in the extROM folder all missing after i done a hard Reset?
- How to keep all *.cab files in the ExtROM folder after the hard reset?
Thank you.
Guys and Gals
The BA Wiki was started over 2 years or more ago by a new guy on the forum who trying to work out how to get his German MDAIII flashed with an English rom.
He wrote it in order that the information was found in one place as he found it hard to find it in all the threads, this finding problem is still true today.
Well as you see times have changed and the porblems of WM5 and WM6 were not know at that time and as you also see not many people have bothered to invest time back into documneting in wiki. Its become more of a get and ***** about wiki not being updated than a give back some of the time in searching the threads and update wiki for the next person.
Some were in the begining it says if you don't like what you read then fix it.
This is best done by those people that are going through the learning curve as they read Wiki and they should beable to correct / add / embelish on what is written and what needs to be said.
Its a thought.

Misson impossible is that type of Cab file that is no longer there after a hard reset (or when they are executed) as they delete themselves.
Change the properties to read only will solve that.
