BIG socket problem. - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

When I call shutdown or close function for a socket, the device (O2XDAII) sends Reset TCP packet instead FIN packet.
I'm trying to make passive FTP connection. The problem is if a FTP server receive Reset at the end of a file transmission, the server does not store the file and return "426 Connection closed; transfer aborted"
Any ideas how the problem can be solved?
Thanks a lot in advance.

I'm not up on sockets under CE, but have you looked at the SO_LINGER socket option?

I've tried the option (and just a Sleep(10000) before closing the socket too). With no sucess though

Here are 2 screenshots regarding the problem.
I got correct.jpg when started under the emulator and wrong.jpg when
started under XDA II.

JasJar USB connection problem - please help

I 'suddenly' am unable to have my JasJar connected to Activesync. I have been successfully connecting the last two weeks and did not cahange anything to the PC's set-up.
I killed my antivirus and have no firewall software running.
I have a direct USB connection to my Laptop (no usb hub).
I have tried both Activesync V4.0 and V4.1.
I have deleted all partnerships to get a fresh start.
I have also tried to delete the PPC in the PC's device manager and connect again (I did notice the PPC was listed under the network adapters only, nothing was listed under the USB section).
Nothing seems to help and I am really desperate since I can not sync anything anymore now.
Any suggestions are more than welcome !
Thansk in advance,
Paul
have you tried another PC ? at least this way you can be sure that everything is ok .
I am travelling and will not have any access to another PC before the WE.... I did try another cable but got not lucky..
It does seem to work on another PC.
Anybody any suggestion as to what else I could try to make it work again?
firewall?, thats my pain on my work lappy, i have to vpn into work and that blocks my JJ, i get connecting but no connected, all i can do is disconnect from work which then opens the activesync ports back up. check 7438 and 5679 on your firewall
After a week with AS 4.0 I suddenly found that the only way I could get it to work was to soft reset the Jas Jar while connected. I'm guessing you've already tried that though...
yer, i forgot to say, i can only sync when my JJ has been off for 10+ seconds, if on i get a uab device error if off i connect no problems, this kinda leads me to think that the usb port is in a different mode when on to when on standby, but the usb hosting of devices appears not to be the reason

I have the same problem. Get a kind of "USB not recognized" when the jasjar is on/open".
I close the Jasjar after having taken the USB out of course.
Then, after a while ( You say 10 seconds) it works fine and Activesync starts the job.
I can live with it. No soft reset needed.
Very positive to me is the fact that I can also connect to a USB HUB. So no need to plu it directly in my portable.
After connection I can open my little toy. (Gush how I love this thing)
Huib
Yes I have the same problem I only synk when the jasjar is turned off. Most probably one of the reasons apart from firewall issus is office 2003. They said to me from club-imate support that we need the newest office 2003 with sp1.

Infrared connection problem

Hi,
I have been trying to connect my SPV M5000 to my SmartPad2e via Infrared without success .
The SmartPad2e (notepad portfolio from Seiko Instruments USA inc.) is used to capture handwritten notes and drawings, instantly sending them to your PDA via the infrared port. Using the SmartPad2" application (InkNote Manager) you can save/view/edit your notes and drawings before sending them as email attachments.
I have exhausted all help from both Seiko support and Orange support and have been given this forum as the best place to contact someone who may be able to help or point be to somewhere for further support.
It would seem that the two devices have different types if infrared, which communicate at different speeds. A therefore neither device can understand the other to make a handshake (hope I got that terminology right :? ).
Anyway after all that introduction, does anybody here know of a driver (or something) that could slowdown the fast infrared port 1.1 on the SPV M5000 so it can communicate with my SmartPad2e :?:
David
Bump!
Does anybody know where I can find out further information on setting/controling infrared connections
Bump!
I still haven't been able to get this infrared connection issue to work.
Any ideas anyone
...did you try them both to connect to a pc to see if the problem then also exsist?...
I can connect my SPV M5000 to my laptop via infrared OK (shortcut icon displays on my desktop and a task bar icon indicate that my device is in range). But when I try to beam an image file to my device I receive and Wireless Link Error message which says "The transfer failed. An error occurred while Wireless Link was connecting to the other device. error code 0x274c has no description." If I try sending an image file from my device to my laptop it says "tap to send" I select then is says "pending" than after a while "failed". Is this a compatability use or have I missed a setup option on my SPV M5000?
The smartpad still works fine with my old PDA.
Do you need any futher information, can you advise/help
TIA
David
...i don't think it's any baudrate problem, but more of a kind of file-transport-protocol problem...
...found this in register, seems Bluetooth has same protocol as IR:
HKLM\software\microsoft\obex] protocols=bth,irda
Does SPV M3000 have BT possibility and if so can you also try to establish a connection with pc to find out if same kind of errors occurs?...
Unfortunately my laptop does not have bluetooth...
However I have successfully sent and received photos between mobile phones and my SPV M5000 using bluetooth.
I could ask a friend tomorrow if we can test bluetooth via their PC if this would help.

Hi,
Has anybody else had problems with using IR.
Still unable to make these two recognise each other.

Can this be done with my wizard?

Hello all,
i am a newbie, so i am sorry if there is already a topic on this, as i have been searching and searching, and just cant seem to find anything that seems to directly help.
My laptop, connects to the net via an ethernet cable, and i would then like to connect to my laptop via wi-fi with my wizard.
I have managed to somehow create a ad-hoc connection to my laptop via wi-fi, which i believe is some kind of P2P thingy.
However i am unable to map a network drive in resco explorer, and everytime i go on to internet explorer i get a little message stating that the page can not be displayed.
am i missing something somewhere, or is this just not possiable.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not really sure that you can do this at least not the way i think you are trying to do it. I didn't think laptops could act as access points which is what you need. If your laptop has bluetooth then you could create a connection using it and map a drive from the Wizard to the laptop.
Kirby
It can be done.
I did the same thing before, now i prefer to use bluetooth, but it definitly can be done.
first, i created an ad hoc connection between my wizard and the pc's belkini usb wifi adapter. then i mapped the shared folder on my laptop with total commander. i must say i had problems doing it with rescos explorer, maybe thats the catch. anyway, i was able to browse through my drive with no problems, mp3, small avi etc. it can be done!
and here goes the question to rkwhyte2: i'have been trying to acces my pc's shared folder using bluetooth active sync connection with no luck, how to do it? i've been looking for an answer since 2 months...

Sorry for butting in....
I don't know about accessing shared folder through BT, but after trying and trying AND trying, I was finally able to do an activesync through BT. The catch was to make sure PC has a BT "COM port" assigned. and then create partnership with PC's "Activesync" service (I had 3 listed..Dialup net,Activesync, and headset).
OOOOPS, almost forgot. make sure in Activesync settings that "Allow connections to one of the following" is set to the COM port assigned to BT.

You have had much better luck than I and the steps you have listed are pretty much all you need. My problem has always been getting the com ports that I needed. I am currently running Faria's aku3 ROM and it uses internet sharing and so uses bluetooth as a PAN. Makes life quite a bit easier all I had to do was tell the phone to use bluetooth PAN instead of USB and I was able to use map a drive between the phone and my PC.

yes, thats all right, thats exactly what i use. a bit tricky but still easy thing to do, thats why i didn't list the steps. so as i said i have activesync connection working both on usb and BT, i can use my pc's net connection while hooked to pc and so on and so on. the only thing is that i can acces my drive using Async usb, and i can'd using Async BT. question is why... i went even looking into bluetooth drivers settings on my pc, but no luck here... and since several weeks noone seems to know the answer...

I'm not exactly sure what PAN is, could you explain it please? is it personal area network? where do you set this?

Using activesync without a cradle

Hello
I'm looking for some help and advice with a problem I have with an i-mate xda2 and trying to communicate with my desktop using windows xp. Like many other owners of the xda2 the bottom connector has become completely disconnected and as a result I have been trying to set up using Activesync over Biuetooth. I have followed various tutorials on how to make this connection without sucess. I recently did a hard reset on the xda2(WM2005) and now find I do not have the options for setting up Bluetooth that I had before the hard reset-for example I cannot select serial port option-I just have the hands-free option! It may be that I need to use the cradle/USB connection before I can set up activesync over Bluetooth.
Note -the desktop and xda2 recognise each other but not using activesync.
Any comments/advice would be appreciated.

That link might help you.
However, I thought they had disabled wireless access completely with Activesync as a security measure?
Anyway, someone can correct me if I am wrong. I have never done it over bluetooth personally.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for your reply but I'm afraid it did not help. I think my problem stems from the fact that I did a hard reset after the usb cable socket on my PPC broke off and this is stopping me getting the correct Bluetooth settings.

No streaming without sync usb cable connected

Hi guys,
I tested on my D2 Coreplayer and Kinoma. For both, every thing was fine until I disconnected the usb cable from sync connector. Well ... running clearam and softreset several times were necessary for being able to launch again the players.
Also, after several tests, I noted that I was unable to get any streaming conncetion without sync usb cable or with earphone connector.
Where does this issue comes from ? Any idea ?
Thks
I'm a bit puzzled, are you saying the cable just has to be plugged in (but not actually connected to anything) or it has to be plugged in and connected to your PC in sync mode? You seem to imply that even plugging in the earpiece solves the problem?
Also, where are you trying to stream from (a PC on your local network, or the internet)?
Haha, you are funy guy Well ... of course is the cable pluget somewhere
Let's do it again ... the pocket was connected to the laptop in sync mode during I was installing and testing several streaming player for .pls files.
Everything worked fine and for any reason I decided to close my work. 3 sec after I pluged the cable from the pocket out, streaming stopped. This happened each time I was running this test. This happened with all players even wmp. Also ... with any cable connected to the laptop in sync mode i am unable to connect to those website for streaming. It looks like the laptop made the buffer ! I know ... amazing but it's the true !
Memory was a bit overloaded at 75% to 80%

Stupid question, but do you have setup an Internet connection on your Topaz?
If yes, is there a proxy setting? If yes, try without.
How does the streaming applications you tested connect to the streaming server? Can you setup the connection type in the options of the streaming application?

Hi thanks for your help.
There is no stupide question in such cases ... Yes I have setup a internet connexion with proxy but thoses one from provider. And to late to remove proxy setup. I flashed again the rom.
But good question ... how does streaming applications connect to the net ? Thru the topaz ... and how does the topaz conect to the web ? Maybe thru the cable (data switch transfert was on) as it was supposed to connect thru HSPA/EDGE/GPRS ... Does topaz manage any priority in internet connection ? Need to improve this test .... later
however strange
Meanwhile I have to solve something else with the new rom ... erro 403 with Internt explorer (access denied) See here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=546931 It nevers stops
