I have a XDA II with WM2K3SE ROM v2.06.00 and it's suddenly stopped working with A/Sync.
Every machine I try to connect the device to, it gets recognised as "unknown device". If I try connecting using mtty, I get "\\.\WCEUSBSH001 port can not open". Am I right in thinking the serial connector is bust?

I donno what happened but activsync using bluetooth just stopped working on my XDA II.
I have 2 other phones a nokia 6600 and k700i connected to bluetooth on my computer. I bought the 6600 yesterday and after installing its software when I tried to connect the XDA II to activsync on my computer.
It just said "Opening port" and then "Connecting to host" I can see my computer show "Connection successfull" but on the XDA it remains on COnnecting to host and then after 30 secs or so it just says not connected
Why is this happening???
i try to upload my O2 XDA EXEC and my compiuter stop i get a message
after i reset un-backlit screen with "Serial" at the top, and "v0.XX" at the bottom, i Plug in the USB cable DIRECTLY between the PC and the Universal and my pc throw out the message that my O2 XDA EXEC is unknown devise.

Silly question, but have you installed ActiveSync before plugging in the XDA Exec? I think you'll get that kind of error if you haven't.
Also, sometimes firewall software can block ActiveSync from working properly.
what i do?

On PC try go to:
System properties -> advanced -> environment variable -> unser system variable tab create new: variable name: "devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices", set the value: "1"
Then go to Device manager, set view to "show hidden devices"
Under "Universal Serial Bus Controller" check for "unknow device" and delete it.
Under Windows CE USB Device, delete it all.
Uninstall your activesyn, delet "RAPI.dll" from your PC windows folder.
Then reinstall activesync.
Hope working.
thanks
i dident and works
thank you thank you
When I plug my Touch HD in to my PC by USB i get the following message "Warning, The device doesn't support the USB head set, please remove it"
Any ideas?
if it's the pc i would suspect that it's an usb driver issue
or a 3th party program giving the msg
i would try another computer to verify this
seems to be doing it on all computers.
The computer finds the phone for a few seconds then i get the error message and the phone dissappears from the explorer.
The phone still charges though
I have 2 touch hd's and its only happening with the one.
Is this an issue anyone else has encountered? Could the USB port be damaged? If so where can I get it repaired and how much am I looking at?
I'm using the original USB cable from the box plugged into the back USB port on my PC.
I've tried simply plugging it in, "USB device not recognized".
i've installed the samsung drivers for the epic 4g, "USB device not recognized".
I've installed the samsugn galaxy S windows 7 64bit drivers, "USB device not recognized".
I've installed PDAnet, wouldn't finish the install because windows couldn't see the phone.
The phone worked fine on a windows XP laptop when I installed the samsung drivers from the epic 4g page on samsung's website.
Any advice?
Buy a better usb cable or try a different usb port on your computer. My phone only works with one of the four on my computer.

I've used the stock cable for everything, works fine for me. Make sure it's a USB port that's directly connected to your motherboard.

It is. The back of my PC has 6 ports all directly connected to the motherboard.
OK I got it "fixed".
One (and only 1) of my front ports will work with the samsung epic 4g drivers from the samsung support page. None of he 6 on the back will work.
Weird...but if it's working it's working.
Same way with mine it doesnt work well with windows 7

I don't remember the service menu code, but changing the usb mode from modem to pda solved all my connectivity issues.
Is it a Dell XPS 9100? My Dell XPS 9100 has never drivered up for me, it doesn't matter what usb port you use. My wifes Dell laptop drivers up immediatly.

If anyones still having issues please try ##8778# in dialer, and on usb only check pda instead of modem and see if that helps.
That worked. Thanks for the excellent tip

It so sounds like a cheap cable..or a defective one.
I'd try a different cable/USB Port or uninstalling the drivers then plugging the phone back in and let it re-install upon reconnecting.

Yes and both try with MTP PTP nothing, even the phone does not recognize when you connect the cable from the pc, but works as a charger.
Where did you get the part? It's probably a copy or defective.
From EBay, from two differents sellers

Was that the problem you had even before replacing the usb flex?

no, the original broke and stopped working
Finally solved
Finally after searching and researching I found that it was a software compatibility problem, so I found the Franco kernel (ziddey-otg-R193-JSS-CM-10262031) having the all drivers that needs for the phone to recognize the USB, now works properly with the PC and everything else.
So we know what is the problem with those new USB flex cables
I hope this will help others with same issue.
