I donno what happened but activsync using bluetooth just stopped working on my XDA II.
I have 2 other phones a nokia 6600 and k700i connected to bluetooth on my computer. I bought the 6600 yesterday and after installing its software when I tried to connect the XDA II to activsync on my computer.
It just said "Opening port" and then "Connecting to host" I can see my computer show "Connection successfull" but on the XDA it remains on COnnecting to host and then after 30 secs or so it just says not connected
Why is this happening???

XDAII with 1.60.00 WWE ROM and Belkin USB Bluetooth Dongle (F8t003). Been successfully working until a few days ago. Then for no reason stopped working. Removed pairing on XDA and tried to re-pair. All that happens is the BT icon on PC goes green but the bubble requesting entry of the PIN code never appears and after 30 secs or so the XDA comes up with Invalid Bluetooth PIN Code. If I try to pair from the PC to the XDA it will pair but then Activesync refuses to work. I've tried hard reset on XDA, uninstall and re-install of Belkin drivers and software on PC but no luck. I've also restored my PC (its Win XP) to a date when I am pretty sure everything worked. Any ideas?
Tracked down the problem to Windows XP Service Pack 2 Release Candidate 1 which I have been testing. SP2 has new bluetooth code in the MS stack and it looks like the Belkin drivers/software are incompatible with it.
I haven't Belkin Bt but, sometimes when I try to pair devices and BT icon goes Green, and doesn't appear the PIN window.. It appears if you right click to the Bt green icon!!!
So try it man.

Hi, I just can't make the activesync over bluetooth work with my laptop (widcomm) and my magician (qtek s100).
the devices are paired enough, and I can see the serial port on the phone from the laptop, but when active sync starts to search for the connection, it loses the connection (the serial port is listed as not connected in the "my bt places").
Any tips/hints? Is something wrong on one of the machines? I will try to see if I can test with some other devices...

You can skip the step on installing and using the BT Tools.
cheers
Thanks, but that doesn't work for me...
I can pair allright, but I am unable to sync...
have you updated to the latest ROM for your s100? I noticed after updating my JAM that I do not need BTH tools anymore to activesync over BT.
Hi
have an O2 XDA II Mini (Magician) and I am using an XMicro Dongle on my laptop (Win XP with SP2....I am using the in built Microsoft BT stack which comes with SP2) and ActiveSync3.8. Initially syncing with BT was a problem but now its not a problem at all.
First you have to make sure that the COM port nos. selected by ActiveSync are less than 10 bcoz there is some bug due to which ActiveSync will not support COM ports above COM9.
To reduce the COM port nos. on your computer try the following website
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315539
Once you can see the hidden devices and ports delete/uninstall all the ports which are not in use.
To ActiveSync.....the following steps might help....
1 To sync with BT first delete all your pairing with your computer and phone on both devices.
2 Go to BT Manager on your phone and click both check boxes for Inbound and Outbound COM ports and pair the devices.
3 Once they are paired go to BT manager (on the phone) again and click on the start button (for BT ActiveSync setup) and pair the devices again if you have to.
4 Once that is done make sure that on the computer in BT Settings the the Serial Port Profile (SPP) "Serial Port COM4" is checked.Click on the phone device>property>services.
5 After that on the computer's BT Manager itself ensure that the COM ports folder shows incoming and outgoing ports with the phone's name in front.
6 Open ActiveSync (on the computer) ensure that the COM port no. is the same as the Incoming COM port no. given in step 5 above and it being shown as available. Sometimes if it is unavailable, the computer needs to be rebooted and then it will be shown as available.
7 Click on ActiveSync thru BT on the phone and it should work.
8 Whenever you wanna disconnect ActiveSync press stop on the compouter to disconnect.
It has been working for me since the past couple of weeks. Initially it took a lot of time to set up but now even if the pairing gets deleted or something messes up its working fine.
One thing to remember is that in case you are using a dongle with a laptop ensure that the dongle is plugged in BEFORE you boot up the laptop. A lot of people plug it in later and then ActiveSync on the computer shows the COM ports as unavailable.
I hope this helps.
All the best!
Has anybody managed to get this working. I have got as far as getting a serial connection on com14 to connect for about 20 seconds (it then disconnects automatically) - setup activesync 4.1 to check on this same port but it says it cant connect.
When I paired it did create an ativesync bluetooth service on another port com6 but I cant seem to find a place to make this connect.
D-Link DBT120 dongle.
Any suggestions? What other info can I supply
Thanx

Try setting it to a COM port < 10? I have mine on COM1, and my Exec connected with no problems... even on the initial Partnership setup. I've never plugged my Exec into my PC via USB!!
My Exec works fine on COM 20.
I used the Help information on BT in AS to set-up and it worked first time. I use a Belkin BT dongle
I encounter the same problems. Set the device to COM 5, the PC takes 7or 8. The device won't let it self be changed to 7 or 8, it only takes 5. I get a BT connection but no AS.
I read some issue about closing the firewall when setting up the account. I did that when I connected over UBS and succeeded to establish a relationship, but not by means of BT.
Thanx Jah for the tip - I hoofed the D-Link drivers and used the windows ones rather and it worked as you said

Anyway to make the BT connect and activesync automatically when the PC starts up or even better when you get in range?

hi all now i'm almost there! i have updated driver on laptop to a widcomm, updated jam with every bluetooth app i could find!
(Jam) anyway i delete all device partnerships,
(Jam) i then use bluetooth settings to add activesync via bluetooth,
(Jam) add new device
(Jam) add password
(Laptop) enter same password
(Jam) Availiable profiles window opens with serial port, activesync, modem, Headset, and network windows availiable but the lil icon saying busy comes up and never goes away?
i tried just selecting the profiles but to no joy
(Jam) when i went to activesync and tried to connect via bluetooth to BOH113 (laptop) it says connecting, laptop says connected (bubble not activesync) then the (Jam) window that says connecting just closes down with out connecting or syncing???
can someone help me plz i'm so close
Did you select your incoming bluetooth port in ActiveSync. Are your Bluetooth ports below 10?
yes! i selected port and yes it is below 10. only two listed 1 & 2 i tried both and still no luck!
(jam) now it just says connecting to host and does nothing?
(Jam) under bluetooth com ports tab;
incoming and outgoing ports have nothing listed, when you tap one of them the next window apppears but no port options come up?
could this be apart of the problem?
now when i select connect via BT with B..... it opens the connecting bubble , says do you wish to switch bluetooth on, i select yes it continues to try and connect and then it comes up with a bubble saying would you like to switch bluetooth off now to save power

Ta will try as soon as i get home! Have tried this way before, but it was before i updated the driver on my laptop!
Just got my XDA Mini S today, my first ever PDA-type device. I'm trying desparately to get Active Sync up and running over Bluetooth, but having no luck at all.
I've got an MSI BT dongle and ActiveSync 4.2.
I can't get them to tie up with each other over BT serial port (the COM numbers don't match, my XDA will only let me add COMs 6 or 7, my PC BT device only 3 or 4)
