BT Activesync with JASJAR - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Has anybody managed to get this working. I have got as far as getting a serial connection on com14 to connect for about 20 seconds (it then disconnects automatically) - setup activesync 4.1 to check on this same port but it says it cant connect.
When I paired it did create an ativesync bluetooth service on another port com6 but I cant seem to find a place to make this connect.
D-Link DBT120 dongle.
Any suggestions? What other info can I supply

Try setting it to a COM port < 10? I have mine on COM1, and my Exec connected with no problems... even on the initial Partnership setup. I've never plugged my Exec into my PC via USB!!

My Exec works fine on COM 20.
I used the Help information on BT in AS to set-up and it worked first time. I use a Belkin BT dongle

I encounter the same problems. Set the device to COM 5, the PC takes 7or 8. The device won't let it self be changed to 7 or 8, it only takes 5. I get a BT connection but no AS.
I read some issue about closing the firewall when setting up the account. I did that when I connected over UBS and succeeded to establish a relationship, but not by means of BT.

Thanx Jah for the tip - I hoofed the D-Link drivers and used the windows ones rather and it worked as you said

Anyway to make the BT connect and activesync automatically when the PC starts up or even better when you get in range?

Bluetooth Activesync?

Has anyone succeeded yet, I've got a belkin bt card F8T002 and xp, I can get the devices to bond but that's it, no sync. When I try from xda2 i get some message saying the port may be in use. Also the belkin info says I should be able to see several icons from My Bluetooth Places, I've got nothing, and after I set up the configuration, the information doesn't seem to be saved, when I re-enter the configuration I have to put it all in again.
It's a bit of a bugger really
Hy!
I've an xdaII.
I've the same problem with the USB Dongle's 3Com : 3CREB96B (on my PC).
Activesync doesn't initialisate, but i can send and received files by transfer without activesync.
I borrowed a Blue Tooth dongle from a friend at work. I got the ActiveSync running fine after a bit of messing about. It worked fine both for browsing and syncing with outlook
I only got it to work by selecting 'Connect via Bluetooth'. As this was some days ago and I've not yet had the chance to borrow the BT dongle again I'm not quite sure what I did.
However IMHO Bluetooth is one of the worst connection systems I've had to work with in a very long time .... Last time it was this bad was when you had to use a third party TCP/IP stack with Windows 3.1
Bluetooth Sync
unpair your XDA II and your PC. Then modify the below registry and pair again. After Pairing, run your Activesync in your XDA II and click Connect via Bluetooth in the tools
\HLKM\SOFT\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Activesync

activesync/bluetooth tutorial

Hi, I just can't make the activesync over bluetooth work with my laptop (widcomm) and my magician (qtek s100).
the devices are paired enough, and I can see the serial port on the phone from the laptop, but when active sync starts to search for the connection, it loses the connection (the serial port is listed as not connected in the "my bt places").
Any tips/hints? Is something wrong on one of the machines? I will try to see if I can test with some other devices...
try this --> http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?s=f18b052a41d1d7b711c2b97ecd926005&threadid=544932
You can skip the step on installing and using the BT Tools.
cheers
Thanks, but that doesn't work for me...
I can pair allright, but I am unable to sync...
have you updated to the latest ROM for your s100? I noticed after updating my JAM that I do not need BTH tools anymore to activesync over BT.
Hi
have an O2 XDA II Mini (Magician) and I am using an XMicro Dongle on my laptop (Win XP with SP2....I am using the in built Microsoft BT stack which comes with SP2) and ActiveSync3.8. Initially syncing with BT was a problem but now its not a problem at all.
First you have to make sure that the COM port nos. selected by ActiveSync are less than 10 bcoz there is some bug due to which ActiveSync will not support COM ports above COM9.
To reduce the COM port nos. on your computer try the following website
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315539
Once you can see the hidden devices and ports delete/uninstall all the ports which are not in use.
To ActiveSync.....the following steps might help....
1 To sync with BT first delete all your pairing with your computer and phone on both devices.
2 Go to BT Manager on your phone and click both check boxes for Inbound and Outbound COM ports and pair the devices.
3 Once they are paired go to BT manager (on the phone) again and click on the start button (for BT ActiveSync setup) and pair the devices again if you have to.
4 Once that is done make sure that on the computer in BT Settings the the Serial Port Profile (SPP) "Serial Port COM4" is checked.Click on the phone device>property>services.
5 After that on the computer's BT Manager itself ensure that the COM ports folder shows incoming and outgoing ports with the phone's name in front.
6 Open ActiveSync (on the computer) ensure that the COM port no. is the same as the Incoming COM port no. given in step 5 above and it being shown as available. Sometimes if it is unavailable, the computer needs to be rebooted and then it will be shown as available.
7 Click on ActiveSync thru BT on the phone and it should work.
8 Whenever you wanna disconnect ActiveSync press stop on the compouter to disconnect.
It has been working for me since the past couple of weeks. Initially it took a lot of time to set up but now even if the pairing gets deleted or something messes up its working fine.
One thing to remember is that in case you are using a dongle with a laptop ensure that the dongle is plugged in BEFORE you boot up the laptop. A lot of people plug it in later and then ActiveSync on the computer shows the COM ports as unavailable.
I hope this helps.
All the best!

ActiveSync 4.1 Bluetooth Sync issue resolved

Having installed my BT USB dongle after I installed Activesync on my PC, I didnt have the Connection settings in my PC's BT Settings. after setting up the partnership, AS on the JJ would always say i needed to setup a partnership again.
Baffled me for weeks, but today I fixed it, and its very simple to do....
Code:
In your PC's BT settings find the Local Services BT Serial Port, note the com port, in my case COM5.
In AS on the pc make sure the "Allow connections to one of the following" is checked and set to the same com port as the BT serial settings.
Thats it!!! no incomming or outgoing ports needed on the JJ, just go into AS and goto menu and hit connect via bluetooth, off it went and sync'd up, no questions asked.
This is very pleasing to me and I can now fix my work lappy aswell, which is where this will be really useful.
Yes yes it works. I was spending 2 mins connecting over BT every time i wanted to use AS.
Thanks.
i do it but nothing of nothing
THANKS A MILL!
after many days trying to get this to work, i finally got it nailed, keep up the good work guys
Big problem with Activesync by Bluetooth on JasJar
Hi,
I have already read more forum on this question.
I have e problem trying to connect by bluetooth to ActiveSync.
When I pair my JasJar to PC not appear the service ActiveSync, but Serial Port.
Therefore ActiveSync, on JJ, can't connect to my PC.
I have already configure ActiveSync on PC to connect on right Com port.
Please help me, i have lost some night to try it.

BT Activesync "No Partnership"

Trying to BT AS from my JasJar to my PC.
PC has activesync service setup on COM6
AS is listening on COM6
JasJar has outgoing COM set to 4
When I start a BT sync reports "Cant find existing Bluetooth Partnership that supports activesync." and asks for a search.
Run through the wizard and select my PC and its serial port. After finishing device will not start a connection.
Go back to activesync and try to connect via bluetooth and gives the "cant find partnership error.
Tried two different adapters on the PC and neither get it to work.
Anyone with any ideas?
Thanks!
Remove all the BT setting you have setup. Just follow the Help file on AS4.1 it works, really!
Tried all that and still not working.
Device just doesnt seem to initiate an outgoing connection.
ActSync connection problem!!
Did you fix the connection problem, think we are living the same case.
If you did fix would you please tell me what was the way?
thanks!
@Dave
From the PC AS, select File>Connection Settings and uncheck USB connection and select the BT COM port for Allow Connections. Then select "Connect" and wait till it tries all the connections and fails. Then selec Cancel and then try to connect from your Universal.
PS - I am assuming you have set-up the BT pairing using the Control Panel on the PC and Added the BT COM port from there as well
Hi,
Tried your suggestion. No luck.
PC is setup correctly. AS listening on COM6 (BT AS port as shown in my local services)
Jas doesnt seem top even initiate an outgoing connection. Get no blue indication on my desktop icon or on the port status item in the control panel.
Sorry to keep asking questions, but when you set-up the pairing between the PC and JJ did you get a Wizard on the PC that identified the ActiveSync service? Does the pairing info on the JJ say the PC provides a ActiveSync service?
I've had the same problem with my M5000, just solved it.
I removed the Toshiba bluetooth Drivers from the system and rebooted. WinXP SP2 found new hardware and proceeded to install what I assume to be standard MS Bluetooth stack. (DellHardWare.jpg)
Next, I deleted the bluetooth partnership from the M5000. I created a new partnership with my laptop, but initiated from the M5000. At this point, the M5000 didn't offer any services to use with the partnership. So, back to the laptop, creating a new incoming COM port (COM8),(DellCom8.jpg) and then set Activesync on the laptop to use that newly created port. (DellAS_connect.jpg)
Back to the M5000 bluetooth partnership, select the newly created partnership and click refresh (M5000btooth.jpg) This Time it offers me the activesync service. Tick the activesync service and then save.
Finally, on the M5000, from activesync select bluetooth connection...and that was it. Still working. Once I've disconnected and soft reset I'll try to make the connection again and report back. I'll also try to use the M5000 as a wireless modem and post results here.
FrankyG, great news. But I think the procedure you described is not that different from the AS44.1 Help file I suggested earlier.
i do it, but i doesn´t runs
Delete all your BT COM in control panel/system/device manager (select view and show hidden devices) by going to safe mode. Afterwhich restart your PC and try to pair again....it's always works for me

Bluetooth fails after Windows XP wakes, bluetooth manager?

I have successfully synched my T-Mobile MDA to two WinXP SP2 laptops (Thinkpads)(office and home, not exchange). The problem I have is that I can't get a connection to re-establish after sleep mode. Specifically, I have to shutdown the PCs and reboot, then all works fine. The need to reboot really limits the value of a bluetooth sync.
I'm using an Airnet USB bluetooth connector.
Some specifics. When the PC wakes, the bluetooth connection doesn't exist. As a result, activesync loses the correct com port as an option. But this will eventually update once the bluetooth connection is accomplished, and then I can open activesync settings and select the correct com port. Even with this setting correctly chosen however, when I then select activesync/connect via bluetooth on the MDA, I get the error message that the com port is not available, would I like to connect to another device? This means the correct com port is not available even though activesync is expecting to connect over the correct com port. I think this means it is the win xp bluetooth manager that is the problem.
So I see something called Widcomm discussed in the forum. Does someone who has used it know if this is a potential cure for bluetooth connections through sleep mode? Is there another solution?
