Anyone knows if there is a way to check current GPRS-traffic amount on JAM?
As it is, I have no clue how much data I am transmitting while checking emails, using ICQ or browsing. Have I missed some built-in feature or are there any external apps out there?
Thanks,
pell0

I am using SPB's GPRS traffic counter and have noticed that without my doing anything, my Jam will download around 100k of data every day (around £0.25 on Vodafone). I can just about survive the financial shock ;-) but I am more worried to know how control connections in general.
Does anyone know what programs on the Jam keep a GPRS connection alive? (I am not using MS Messenger, nor do I have either MS Explorer, the e-mail application or Activesync runnig in the background).
cheers.
I see that you have checked the usual suspects how about MMS this uses GPRS as well maybe you received some? The application you mention (SPB GPRS Monitor) does not tell you which application uses GPRS?
unfortunately is not the mms client - I stopped its installation after a hard reset.
I even go as far as killing off the messaging app and internet explorer with the memory control panel to make sure they don't accidentally run in the background.
my guess is a leaky tcp/ip stack, but i'm still looking for ways of controlling outgoing packets...

Alternetives for SPB GPRS Monitor !?
Does anyone have any alternetives for SPB GPRS Monitor. This program makes the OS on my i-mate JAM very unstabele. So I had to remove this program.
I hope someone can help me pointing to a good alternetive app ! I also couldn't find an application like a SMS counter. Any idea's ?
Thanks for your help and kind regards,
R.
I NEVER leave GPRS connected. I always 're-connect and cancel' to drop my connection after getting email headers ....
However....
one day, in one session at 12noon I racked up £17 with 02. They can not explain it and I was sitting at my desk at work with the XDA docked at the time!!! (with internet pass through if needed!)
This is worse than premium rate calls (which are closely monitored) ... all 02 can say is that at 12noon I downloaded over 7mb !! end of story! no more details. I don't know how it is possible unless it connected to their stupid movie portal and downloaded a massive trailer on it's own? - which I would of noticed!
Well I have a complaint in with them. Just think how many people could get stung (and I know what i'm doing!)
I'm now going to try the above mentioned GPRS counter, but has anyone tried this one ? .... http://www.all-locations.com/ GPRS Traffic Counter v3.2

Hi, could someone please help me out with these 4 questions?
1. Can you enter a url or web address while surfing the web, via the keyboard without the usage of a stylus? If so, how?
2. Can you stream music using the GPRS via T-Mobile unlimited data plan? And is web surfing via GPRS faster than regular wifi?
3. Can you use skype via GPRS or is it only possible via wifi?
4. Has anyone tried the Proporta alu-leather bookcase? Does the device feel secure within the case?
Thanks for helping
1) You can't move the cursor into the 'address' field without tapping on the screen if that's what you mean.
2) Yes, you can stream music through GPRS. I use Resco Radio for music, and it works very well. No, web surfing via GPRS is not faster than WiFi, 3G isn't as fast as WiFi either...
3) Yes Skype will work via GPRS, although I've only tried this once as call quality is a bit dodgy. Best to stick to WiFi.
4) Never even seen the case. I like my devices 'case-free' for ease of access!
Appreciate your valuable input, but do you know if there is a browser out there that doesn't require an actual screen tap to input the url?
Does anyone have any experience with the alu-leather book style proporta case mentioned above?
Thanks
you can get to enter a url without using the stylus
ive just tested it, PIE button to get ie up, then tab to move around changable fields
Yes!!..just tried it, alot of "tab-ing" but it works... thank you..
anyone tried the alu-leather book style proporta case yet? or any cases similar?
thanks
again
Funny, tabbing doesn't work for me on most websites.
I have finally got it to work on bbc.com though, go figure...
I downloaded Newsbreak today as a substitute for Avantgo, which is not WM5 friendly yet. Newsbreak looks really good in theory but I cannot sync it with activesync or wirelessly. Any ideas please?
Colin
I use it without problem with UMTS connection
Hi thanks for the reply. I assume, though, that you are having to pay to download the Newsbreak updates? I want to do it free over activesync or wirelessly via my network. This is supposed to be possible. Anyone know what settings etc?
Have got it sync'ing over wireless network now! It's excellent!
Is anyone having problems with Agile Messenger not connecting to the various chat clients? I know my GPRS is ok coz IE is working ok, but Agile will not connect at all, I don't know whether its the T-Mobile UK connection or the software itself, i'm using the free version of Agile, could people please post their comments, cheers.
Same here, not having any connection with all the clients.
I have tried the previous free version and the latest trial version, both cannot be connected.

I see your location is Canada, so I think we can rule out a network problem seeing as I am in the UK. Anyone else?
Agile Mobile has a nice interface, but why use it at all. All IM traffic is routed over their servers, and there is no longer a free client or a paid client with free traffic to use. Instead they want you to buy x-month plans. Use IM+ instead, working directly with the various IM servers...

Not really had a problem with Agile until today, but saying that its ok now, working no problem. Think i'll have a look at that IM+ though, got a link to where I can get it?
Hi,
jUst wondering if anyone knows a prgram out there that can prevent certain program/s to use internet (grps, edge, hdspda. , wifi )
Cheers,
Just use this one here http://www.pocketpc.ch/attachments/...daco-nodata-internetverbindung-aus-nodata.zip and you'll be fine!
hi, thanks alot 2SWIFT
but that is not exactly what i need.
I require an app/tool which allows most programs to use data connection, except A FEW nominated ones.
so i can put certain programs to never download data. Sort of like a Block/Ban List.
Any ideas anyone?
