How to restore from Permanent Save - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

I tried enabling Permanent Save on my Contacts but when I hardreset, I don't know how to restore it anymore using Permanent Save. The instructions is just too subtle to be understood, there must be a help file or something. I need those contacts back. Please help.

After hard reset, you have to enable the same options in Permanent Save as before hard reset.
Then normal reset, and it will restore selected things from Permanent Save.

Help Registry access via Active Sync

I stuffed up
I was setting the default keyboard to NullKB in the registry, but I typed in the wrong key, I reset my device. and it would not boot up.
Is there any way to access the registry via Active Synce to fix this wrong key.
I guess my only fix is reloading the OS (ROM) again and all my software.
Please advise...
My fix was
hard reset, restore factory settings, and reload every thing...damn
Digs,
Now that you have a clean install. I suggest you invest on a backup software.
I personally use SPB Backup. What I did was:
1st: Perform a hard reset.
2nd: Install everything from scratch.
3rd: Tried and setup every application on my Universal to my preference. Remember to setup all settings.
4th: Performed a backup under a specified name, like "1st Backup", name it whatever you want.
5th: Set SPB Backup for automatic backup at a specified time.
The advantage of having the original "1st Backup" is it will save me time and effort whenever I get into trouble and I know that it is a clean install, and everything is already setup as I want.
This method had saved me a couple of times already, as I like to try softwares. When I try softwares I install it to the "main memory" before I decide to put it on my Sd card, so it won't mess up my Card which contains all the apps I want that SPB Backup has saved. If I decide that I don't want the application I was trying I just go to File Explorer and run my 1st Backup and I again have a clean fully functional Universal.

[Q] How to revert back to original 'phone' settings

When I installed the resco contact manager this came instead! I think I messed up when I used SSMaPa and cannot figure how to arrange it back - Full Restore does not solve the problem!
Is there a way to revert back to the original 'phone' settings? I can't figure a way around it.
Sorry for the blurry images it's the best I could get
Thanks for any help
in ssmapa there is an option to disable all the changes made, dunno if this is the full restore you are talking about. It generally works without problems, only you MUST be sure to disable tf3d in settings/today/items/untick touchflo 3d
another option is the hard reset, which will revert ALL your phone to factory settings. You can use a backup program to backup all your stuff and proceed with it by going to start/settings/system/clear storage. Note that your memory card won't be touched by this procedure so you can save your stuff there
Thanks for the tips. Can you recommend a backup program that will backup my installed programs as well please?

Recover contacts (and messages) after factory reset

Hi
yesterday I couldnt start my phone (S5360) anymore. Every time I tried it would freeze during the boot logo. So I tried a factory reset and it worked. But now of course all data has been deleted. Is there a way to get at least my contacts back (maybe my messages too)? Would it help to root the phone and let a recovery program such as Stellar run over the system folders?
I never used google to sync my contacts and didnt create any backup whatsover either....unfortunately.
thanks
Peter

i don't think it's possible (easily). your contact saved in internal memory. any recovery software need raw access your media. maybe possible to create partition dump from recovery mode and do recovery to that image, but to really get all your data back you need a lot of work. my advice, enable sync to google contact. it's help a lot, especially if you have multiple android device or change your rom frequently.
btw, we already have Q/A section. better to put this kind of question in that section.
for the contact...you can make a backup easily by import your contact into your sdcard (*vcf file). thats the easiest method. for the sms, there are a lot of sms backup app out there. use your hand a little bit on google and you'll surely find it.

Cannot restore backup from Samsung Cloud

Hi, in these days my phone was sent to service repair. Now all data is cleared. Before repair I made a full backup via Samsung account.
Now I can't restore backup, also tried wipe data and re-flash firmware.
At first boot tried to restore backup, when it search for backups, it appear a loading bar with something like "Restore" and it looking for backups but it will disappear in few seconds.
I have minimum of 3 backups stored, tried to redo a backup manually and restore but I can't, same via Settings->Backup and restore.
What can I do? It seems that I can't restore my past and future backups.
Thank you
Hi, I have same problem, did you already solve it?
Not yet, I think that it's not a problem related with the smartphone but with the account. I think that we have to call Samsung support.
Same issue here with S7!
SOLVED! Resetted the app Samsung Cloud and then updated, reboot, wait 2/3 mins and restored backup successfully.
Did not work. How did you reset? Just cleared the data? And I see no updates..

Yes, cleared cache and data. It worked for me.
You may try to see logs.
1. Open dialer and compose *#9900#, clic on DEBUG LEVEL and select MID or HIGH, your device will reboot automatically.
2. Redo the procedure to try to restore backup(in this way you will generate the logs for your issue)
3. Open dialer and compose *#9900#, clic on RUN DUMPSTATE/LOGCAT/MODEM LOG, wait for the process to complete and select COPY TO SD CARD (include CP RAMDUMP)
4. Search for the log file and see if you can read something wrong.
Contacted Samsung Support. And that is exactly what they did - updated (some nontrivial way) Samsung Cloud app. Then I could do the restore! Hurray!
what should i do next after this?
If anyone still has this issue, what worked for me was to go to Galaxy Apps and update the Cloud app. (You have to display system apps.)
It's a tip I found here:

You can follow the steps to get back your Samsung data.
1. Recover the wanted data from Samsung Account. To get back your files, you need to go to Settings and elect Accounts once again. Next, choose Samsung account and tap on Restore. After that, you can select the file types that you want to restore and click on Restore now to start restoring.
2. Confirm your option. After taping on the Restore now option, a pop-up prompt will appear to ask you to confirm your action. Just tap on ok to proceed the process.
I had a problem with restoring my repaired phone. It turned out I had two Samsung Cloud accounts; one with one phone contact and approximately 6 photos. The two SC accounts were attached to two different emails. I found this out by logging in to Samsung Cloud on my PC. Then I had to do a hard restore on my phone and then I was able to sign in to the correct SC account and could restore my precious data.
