Can someone please help. I have a new XDA II purchased a couple of weeks ago. I want to add voice dial so that I can record a voice tag to a specific contact, press a button on my bluetooth headset and the XDA II phone will dial that person for me.
Can some kind person please guide me exactly how to go about setting this up?
JSS
You can't record voice tag unfortunatelly... Microsoft sells Microsoft Voice command for
pocket pc for 30$.. you don't need to train it or record voice tag.. it just recognize what
you say. it isn't bad
you can grab it from www.suprnova.com in the App/pocket pc section (you will need a bittorrent client, ABC http://pingpong-abc.sourceforge.net).
You can use Neuvoice: http://www.neuvoice.com/xdasoftware.php
Allows you to record your own commands. I had problems with some English programs to recognize Dutch names in my contacts.
Neuvoice has to be trained, and this takes some time, but works perfect with foreign languages.
i use vito voice dialer
works great you record your voice tags then if you have button plus installed i have mine lined to the contacts button if i hold it down it will say please say name so you say the voicetag and itll begin to dial works very well
I tried MS voicecommand, and i was not impressed. The thing about "not training" is that it will recognise only the obvious. Also, it was very bad, to pathetic, in recognising things with the earphones on. Add to that noise when driving, it was impossible.
I found the fonix voicedial was very good. I downloaded a trial (gave me a few eeeks to use it, now theres a sensible trial period!), and it was very good.
I havent used vito, maybe give it a go.
fonix is very good fun to play with but it likes to call my dad most of the time lol im like mum....
dial dad
does your head in lol
Vito is the best one ive tried
but fonix is very fun to play with lol
I am french and i need to 'train tag'.
I use neu voice navigator.
For 9,99$, the voice recognition works very well, indoor, outdoor with wind and driving in the car.
Voice dial for XDA II
Thanks to all of you so far. I went to the Vito site and read that it does not work for XDA II.
""IMPORTANT! Doesn't work on MDAII/XDAII
VITO VoiceDialer PE is not currently supported by XDAII/MDAII. When recording a voice tag it brings up an error "Cannot process this file" Our development team is working on the solution. We apologize for the inconvenience. ""
Hopefully this can be fixed soon. I will try some other sites

I've tried Fonix and MS Voice Command on XDAII and in my view MS Voice Command is the best. Contrary to one of the posts above I've found it very accurate especially after learning how to speak to it after the first couple of days. It works well with the wired earpiece but will not work with a bluetooth headset as it takes its input only from the microphone. As such it is a viable hands free solution and you dont need to train it so if you add a new contact then it is automatically recognised. Beware that the current US version doesnt support dialling of UK phone numbers ie you cannot say 'dial 0113 205 3345' as it will only accept 7 and 10 digit numbers that do not begin with a zero.
I tried MS Voice Command and I must concur with others opinions. Because you cannot train it to learn your voice, it means that you must learn to speak the way it wants you to speak. Fair enough, but the 24-hour trial period is too short. After 24 hours, I could not get it to perform to my satisfaction. Perhaps with a longer trial period I might have learned how to use it.
That is why I am not buying it.
I've tried MS Voice command, and found that unless you want to speak with an American accent then don't bother.
I've also just tried Neuvoice, which works with tags that you assign, and that seems to work extremely well. Now if only one of them could work with a Bluetooth headset! But I guess that's a the fault of the XDA's bluetooth implementation, rather than any of the software.
I purchased MS Voice command (use on my XD2) and as everyone has said it is no good unless you use an american accent...only problem is that I keep talking like an American now  LOL
Thanks - Sunny.

Thanks again. Of course, if it does not work with a bluetooth headset, there really is not much point having it until it does, because the whole idea is to make voice dial calls that are completely 'hands fee'.
I spoke with O2 Mobile Internet support team who tell me that the software will soon have an update (bugfix) which will apparently fix this problem and allow the XDA II to work for voice dial. Does anyone know what this is, when is it coming and how will we be able to get it and put it onto our XDA???

XDA II update
latest information from O2 is quoting Spring 2004.................

I suppose we will have to rely on the brains of the wonderful people on this forum who will surely come up with a way around the problems.
There must be some way through it. All ideas are welcome

Bougth a second hand P800 this week to compare with the XDA II.
I must say that the P800 is much more advanced on the phone point. It may be not as performant, but the thing works quite nicely. Voice control works perfect, also with BT headset.
And controlling and operating the phone is much easier thanks to the jog dial. I also like the better implemantation of the phone settings and options. Don't understand why this isn't implemented on more devices.
Think MS still has a long way to go with Pocket PC Phone Edition to reach at least the same phone functionality...
@ Jos
do you know why that is?
its because the p800 is a symbian phone with PDA features
the XDA is a PDA with mobile features
theres the difference
and p800 camera is ****e lol
Hi all!
I Just changed from a P800, and fully agree with gazzaman2k and Jos, P800 is a "so-so good" phone, but a very POOR PDA.
XDAII is a fully functional PDA, but the phone parts leaves so much to be desired......
Any way, I still would be using my P800, should I have been able to fix the SYNC problem.... A phone PDA UNABLE to sync with with your PC is a useless combo. Not to mention the full distress recoveries I had to do with my Outlook contact and agenda files.....
I ended up recovering my old T68 phone, (I need it for the BT carkit) I passed my Cassiopeia EM505 to a friend, my wife got my P800 (unable to sell it on e-bay) and I'm so-so satisfied with my XDA.
Until:
1.- it gets the handsfree BT issue solved (car kit usage)
2.- The Voice command functions are fully implemented (BT headset too)
3.- The phone functions are VERY MUCH IMPROVED (one hand use)
I would NOT consider the XDAII a "PHONE-PDA", but a "PDA-phone". (Capitals being removed intentionally)
BTW, most of the "Voice/dial command" programs I tried are useless and/or unreliable.
but also :x
Indeed, I agree the XDA II is a PDA-PHONE and the P800 a PHONE-PDA.
Would be nice to see an OS that would run on the fast hardware of the XDA II with all the plusses of Pocket PC and Symbian...
And the P800 is for my girlfriend. She needed a new phone and I could get this one for a fair price. Plus it gives me the chance to play around with both en see the pros and cons of both.
For performance and Outlook sync, I prefer the XDA II, but for phone funcionality I prefer the P800...
Voice diaing continued...
The XDA II is a quality PDA with phone functions. Since, I understand, other PDA's (even those without built in phones) are able to have voice dial functions for add-on phones, it seems to me that the XDA II could easily also have these functions. I think that it would just mean getting the right software. How and where from I would like to know?
It may be possible to improve the phone functions, but the single one thing that would improve the XDA II for me is the addition of voice dialing via bluetooth - so that you can record a tag to a contact, press a button on the earpiece, say the contact name and then the number is dialed. That handsfree capability would be a very good start - and let's face it, with driving restrictions etc, these days, it really is essential if the XDA II is ever going to be of any value as a mobile phone.
What I need to know for certain is:-
1.Is there a software that will allow me to have this function.

Hi All,
I was just looking to by the new netgear skype phone and then I thought maybe the Atom Life might run skype well because of the faster processor!!!!! Has anyone tried skype on the Atom Life???
I have tried skype on most of my phones from Jasjar, Jasjam, Atom and others and it was never a nice experience, please anyone let me know of your thoughts?
skype
Im using skype 2.3 on my HP RW6818 with a spectec minisd wifi, and everything is working perfectly. Though you need to set the AGC to 3, Skype echo cancellation on and the volume to 30% in order for it to work, i wouldnt recommend using the headset as it may do damage on your phone.
Now you just need to put the phone upside down, so the speakerphone becomes the earpiece, and have a normal phone type conversation. Dont worry about the mic, it will still function normally eventhough its on top.
I tried using the Skype for Windows Mobile version on Atom Life. Seemed to work fine for text. The voice call worked fine for about 15 mins but by then the device became very hot and it switched off. It wouldn't come on until it after some time when it cooled a bit
I have no plans of using the voice comms again.
Hi guys,
I am wondering about the happiness of the union X7500 - Jabra 8010. Sometimes people I talk to tell me that they barely understand me because they hear disruptions/discontinuance in a voice coming from my side. This almost never happens for voice coming from other party. I am not saying the "couple" is responsible for this but it gets me thinking... What could be the reason for this? Why voice is not corrupted in both direction (up&downlinK)? Ohh, I have the BT configured to Stereo, but I think there is no difference in case of mono…
Is there any way I could test the voice quality coming from/to Jabra? Resco Audio Recorder? Anything else….?
jabra 8010 promblem with athena
i have the same problem.
This problem not only happens with my Jabra BT8010, but also with my other bluetooth headset i.Tech Clip D.
I have the same problem too, but not always happen this. Sometimes the quality is good, sometimes bad. If the headset properties on Athena is hands free the outcoming voice is clear. If you're connecting the Jabra with Athena and there aren't any stereo icon on taskbar coming up, the problem dont ocure.
I have WM5 on athena. Perhaps WM6 will solve this bug (Or a new Jabra update).
I tried it with another phones and it worked good.
Hi!
I have contacted HTC support for this and just received their reply. Man, they are "really quick" - 2.5hours - for the bullsh#!#t answer they provided...
Her is the reply:
"Good morning
We are very sorry to hear you are having problems with Bluetooth. You may find that Windows Mobile 6 may cure this problem when it is released for your device on the HTC eClub.
For now we would recommend using a compatible recommended Bluetooth headset as below:
http://www.expansys.com/htc/p_htc_item.aspx?i=150737
Thank you for your enquiry, Should you have any other problem, please do not hesitate to call us. Your Local number can be found at http://www.europe.htc.com/support/csbyphone.html
"
I shall install Resco Audio Rec and try to record one of these problematic calls. Maybe it will make a difference presenting direct "evidence"...
Any other ideas?
I've got an X7501 Advantage with WM6 on it. I'll be getting the BT8010 in a week or so. I could test this out if that would help.
I have X7500 WM6 Jabra BT8010.
It just disconnects at random times. I will go back to my Jabra BT500 and use the BT8010 only when I want stereo music or other audio output.
Hopefully Jabra will take a look at this problem.
Bluetooth priority patch?
Just curious, have you guys tried installing the Bluetooth priority patch?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=262119
I believe it increases the priority given CPU wise for the bluetooth audio. It actually resolved a problem I was having with my BT8010 and the Universal, the audio during a call was a little choppy and callers reported that my voice was frequently dropping out no matter how close the device and headset were. After downloading and installing the registry edit in the 1st post of the thread I linked to above, problem is gone.
Please let me know if this works, I'm considering purchasing an Advantage and would want to know if it works with my Jabra BT8010.
Thanks,
Galt
hi guys
i've got the same problem.
but not only when using my jabra bt250v
but also when using the wired headset, or no headset at all
so imho this is not a bluetooth related problem
after installing wm6 the problem didn't improve at all.
HTC produce the best WM devices out there
and the Advantage is their flagship device.
These problems with the most basic function shouldn't happen.
And HTC's answer is just poor!
I'm sure they know about this problem and also know that WM6 doen't fix it
(or at least not the ROMs available until today).
I'm still waiting for another RadioROM to fix this fault.
hi galt,
Thanks for your post. I have manually entered the fix form your link:
"Make a new Dword value and name is Priority256 and then for the DWORD Data value make that 60 save and reboot. Presto no more lag, cuts or audio drop outs." since the attached reg file did not have the contents the author has been talking about. I made this reg file with a fix and would like to share with you...
I will test it and let you know how it goes...

Could someone monitor battery consumption with this fix?
There was a similar fix with A2DP and the current consumption was crazy, so I uninstalled it...
Good news so far
1. With the fix installed and the X7500 "at rest", there is no additional current drain = 90 mA.
2. With BT on playing music throught the Jabra BT8010 the current drain is about normal = 320 mA.
3. With BT off, the current drain returns to normal "at rest" current of 90 mA. With A2DPfix the current drain remainded at 400+ mA.
Good news so far!
NOW: the remaining question: Does it solve the problem of dropout?
I'll try it for a day or so and report back.
GREAT news so far
After 4 hours of listening to music (X7500 WM6 BT8010) with Priority256 installed, I can report:
1. One BT dropout that lasted less than 1 second!
2. Normal battery drain!
I have not used the phone enough to know if there will be and BT disconnects or voice issues, but I will report back on these issues soon.
Looks very good at this point.
So far so good
Hi,
It worked for me as well . Almost completely gone, except some tiny/small discontinuance from time to time... GREAT!
I've been using this fix for 3 days and so far having no complain from the people I talked to. Good fix indeed.
Thanks for posting the zip file, makes installation painless. Testing right now!
Well, so far so good. I did experience 2 or 3 drop outs during music play, but I can not contribute them to the device as I was in my office and an ambulance put on their sirens, somehow there must of been some interference.
The best thing about music play was that when the player switched to each successive song, there used to be an audible click or bump, that just isn't there now!
Did anyone ever confirm if this fixes outgoing audio problems? I've had several callers complain of noise/breakups coming from me, when they sounded normal. I know it wasn't a signal issue since this happens when the Advantage is next to me, and I've used my 8010 from 50 feet away through multiple cube walls plus one real wall...

Try to upgrade your Radio ROM to v1.50. That'll solve most of your bluetooth problems.
I have a Touch and a Motorola h700 bluetooth head set. Using bluetooth on this phone is impossible. The volume is so low, it can't be used. Have searched high and low, found many audiopara files, tried other "fixes" to no avail. Is this a problem that can be identified and fixed. Seems that many, many users are experiencing the same issue. Have spoken to Sprint and Motorola and have gotten nowhere. If ther is a fix, does anybody know what it is and where it can be found? Thanks!
Try using a different headset......

I have used the headset on a different phone, Instinct, works perfect. Must be an anomaly in WM 6.1. I guess it's not worth the discussion.

I've tried many headsets on different devices, and sometimes certain models don't work as well as others. Not to mention, you're using a v1.2 headset on a v2.0 device.
H700 on my Vogue
Hey - had to respond. My wife bought me the H700c when I lost my other BT headset and then I upgraded to the Verizon version. HATED my BT because of the volume. Well, this morning I found my old H350 and reconnected that, now the volume is great, so i believe it is just a combination of the two that is the problem. I know this doesn't fix your issue, but maybe try a different BT Headset.
I just switched from a moment to the hero on our third line that our friend uses.
Had many problems with the moment. So far only one with the hero, but its a huge deal to the end user!
Sound quality when using bluetooth is from poor to bad. Caller on other end either cannt hear me or I cannt hear them. So far this is true with all 4 of my bluetooth headsets. These same headsets work with no problem on diffrent phones. So its not the headset.
Is there a known bluetooth issue on the hero? I searched the forums but cannt find anything. I know this could be a simply a bad refurb problem. However if there is a custom rom or some other way to fix this problem I would like to try that before switching phones.
If a bunch of you tell me you use bluetooth with a stock hero, without problem, then I will just call sprint and have them send out a different one. If not though I need a rom / kernel recommendation. Keep in mind this is my friends phone and he does have the time for me to be messing with it a lot. So I need something proven to be stable and low maintenance please.
Does anyone use bluetooth with the hero?
Comon. I know some of you do. Just need to know if it works well for you or sound bad. Please.

I have tried over and over to get the hero/bluetooth to work with my car to no avail. It will work sometimes, but most of the time not. Strange things will happen like I can get phone calls and I can hear the other person, but they can't hear me AND after disconnecting bluetooth, then the speaker phone doesn't work until I turn off the phone and remove the battery. And there's been some times I've had to do that multiple times to get the speaker phone working again.
My crackberry from work has functioned flawlessly with my car and with headsets.
Mine works fine/sounds fine.
Setup:
Hero running CM6 Stable w/BlackMod connected to 2008 Ford Fusion Sync system over BT.
I have not bothered to get a BT headset because so many had issues with it in the past.
May have to try a custom rom. Trying to avoid that cause it not my phone but..
Thx for the replys!
I use blu ant and ive had 3 diffrent heros and the blu tooth always works fine and just a note just because ur blu tooths works with your other phones doesn't mean the will with all phones i cant really explain y its just some things are not compatible doesnt mean your phone is bad or the head set its just some devices just wont shake hands good luck

Never had a quality issue... But I do have a loudness issue. No matter what I do I can't get the volume on my end to be loud enough. Tried it with my dads moment and volume is great. Dunno seems like the hero has mixed bluetooth feelings.
