hey,
all of a sudden my internet explorer has decided to go nuts.
when i try to log into a website its says that cookies have been disabled on my device even though i know there are turned on, i have tried soft resets and turning the cookies off and on again but nothing seems to work.
any deas? or if not any alternatives programs i could use?
thanks
There was an utility to control your Cookies,on Pocket Power Toys from Microsoft..
Also have you tried using different User Agent ID? like Windows NT and not the standard Windows CE Wm 2003? (Multiie allows you to do that,or simply Reg changes) Try the trial at http://www.southwaycorp.net/
Or use another Internet Browser, try search at PocketGear

anybody know how to full installation into thinking that its installing the device with pocketpc 2002? i'm running 2003 and most of the software refuses to install via setup and pocket plus refuses to install even by copying the .cab file. any ideas what string to change in the registry?
thanks
alex
Pocket Plus is known to be so far incompatible with Mobile Windows 2003 for Pocket PC (aka PPC2003). Core OS differences in the Today plugin spec seem to be preventing it from running.
Watch for an update soon by the great spb developers (no, I don't have any affiliation with them other than the email I got when I asked the same thing).
thanks. i don't really care for today plug in as i want the close button.
You may want to try Gigatask, www.gigatask.com, from the makers of
GigaBar in the meantime
Or if you'd like a cascading start menu with task closer to boot, try
SmallMenu Plus from www.tillanosoft.com.
I use both on the opposite corners of my menubar, and each
complements the other wonderfully.
Oh, and by the way, I've sent you a pm.

For some reason, when I go to most websites a pop up window comes up that says that the site cannot be found, yet I can go to Avant Go and other similar sites that are set up for mobile viewing. I don't know what else to do.
i got the same pb
If you need to use a gateway for WAP/Web, IEPocket doesn't work because you can only configure a proxy server or IP address.
Personally I use Multi IE in MSIE 6.0 Win NT 5.0 MODE and can now see all webpages.

what's wierd is a couple of days ago I could go to any web site, I've been installing different software since then and now it's not working. I went so far as to hard reset and then restore and it still doesn't work.
hmmm... i have another problem with pocket ie...
it seems somehow, ie cant open links!! i get an error that says, no program associated with that file, run program first then laungh from within, or somethin like that....
i had to hard reset too... or should i say, the ppc reset itself for me! lol

Is there anyway to stop sites from knowing im surfing with a PPC ? I want to visit a site but it must be detecting that im on a mobile device as its coming up different to when I surf on my computer.
I have installed PIE Plus which was listed as working on WM5 but it doesnt show in the taskbar of Pkt explorer and so doesnt give me the option of indentifying as 5.5 or 6.0 IE.
Are there any other programs that will do this ? I was surprised that Opera 8.50 doesnt do this.
Anyone ?
Use tweak2k to edit your useragent string (I'm sure it can be done in registry by yourself). I presume the WM5 version does this, the WM2003 version does I think.

changed the version from 3.02 that was set to 6.0. Didnt make any difference and the page still showed up different from on my pc.
Out of interest the page was http://wwitv.com
Not merely the version number.
various settings under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent
eg
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 5.0; Vijay555)

I'm looking for a mobile browser for my 8525 that acts like a full browser.... I want the ability to visit websites that are typically blocked or inaccessible because I'm on a mobile browser.
Essentially, I looking for something to trick websites into thinking I'm on a full PC and not a phone.
Does this exist?
any tips?
enjoy...here's a detailed review of most ppc browsers:

Opera Mobile.Runs all the SSL seamlessly.Worth every cent.
OPera Mobile
I've been running Opera for 6 months and it has outperformed everything else that I've tried. Well worth the $29 I paid. Opera has a setting that allows you to identify yourself as a desktop to websites. Works like a charm.
If you like Pocket IE then change the registrys to see it like a desktop. This is a link to the registry changes you will need to make.
http://www.pocketpctweaks.com/pocketpc_tweaks/change_pocket_internet_explorer_6
This will let your pocket internet explorer look like a normal desktop Internet Explorer 6.0
This can help you access sites that require a certain internet explorer version.
1) Open a registry editor
2) Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\
3) Change the default value to "Mozilla/4.0".
4) Change the "Version" value to "MSIE 6.0".
5) Change the "Platform" value to "Windows NT 5.0".
6) Soft-reset.
thnx, helpful
I'm personally a fan of the Opera Browser.
I've used it for quite a while now and am very happy with it.
I would say it is your best bet.
Hi,
I'm truly wondering what's wrong with PIE on my device. If I enter a URL, just nothing happens, not even an error message, it will pretend to load for a little second, say that it loaded 0 kb and that's it. If data is switched off, it won't switch on, if data is switched on, nothing happens either.
All other internet requiring apps run perfectly on my device, e.g. Opera Mobile 10 or RSS Hub, even WeatherWatcher which makes use of PIE. Setting PIE to default browser doesn't change anything about its behaviour.
Here's my setup:
- Blackstone latest stock ROM ;
- Opera Mobile 10 Beta set as default browser ;
- Opera Mobile 9.7 installed for use within Manila ;
- WMLongLife running as a service.
Can anyone help me with some troubleshooting please?
yeppers....have the same problem...no biggie,, as IE is no good anyways..

IE itself sure enough, however, any application depending on IE (e.g. MySearch by Sleuth) doesn't work either because of that. So I am and certainly many others are very much interested in getting IE to run again ... I suspect that there is some conflict with WMLongLife, have to see ...
