Change in Time when doing active synch - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Just acquired my xda II a week ago. It worked fine. But had one problem during active synch I noticed a change in the time in my clock set up . Can anyone tell me why this happens? Is there anything I can do to prevent the time from changing when doing an Active synch?
Thanks

well windows today sync it's time with time servers mainly because bios controlled clocks are very very very poor and can loose up to 10mins in a few hours depending on how poor it's don
though i cant renember if it's in activesync on the pc where you turn it off or if it's on the xda2
most people like it because the xda2's clock is not too good to not loose time eather

activesync turning itself on!!

hi
i have this annoying problem on my JJ
the activesync keeps turning itself on in the ppc...
i have 4.1 AS on the computer and i sync via usb... never made any connection settings on the pocketpc and dont have any server options aswell ... but every 4-5 mins if i go back to RUNNING PROGRAMS i can see activesync running... i have just formatted my JJ for last 2 days hoping i would get rid of this problem as i thought some 3rd party software was calling AS... but after hard reset (and no 3rd party software) im still having this problem
can any one advise? im on vacation and cant keep the damn charger in my pocket all the time nor is a socket available at all times to charge it ... this is for those who wonder why im bothered so much by AS running in background...coz it keeps the processor busy and that uses extra battery!!!
thanks
The active sync turns itself on because by default it is set to sync with an exchange server every so often. To get rid of this on your JJ go to the active sync program. From the menu create an imaginary server by any name say "ABC". Now go to menu again and select "Schedule". Finally under "Sync During" Peak times / Off-Peak times select "Manually" from both the drop down lists. You will never see the active sync progam start up by itself again.

Alternative to ActiveSync?

I am sick and tired of having to hard reset my wizard to get active sync working again!
I have had this problem so many times, activesync will work fine for a period of time and then at some point it will stop working and all i will see on my pc is 'connecting'.
I have asked before if you can just re-install active sync on the device but i didnt get an answer
What i am asking is, is there another piece of software that i can use to sync my device with outlook?
I don't think you can just reinstall activeasync. Have you been using any notification clearing software?

no. the only thing i have on my phone is pocket zen phone (not set up to clear notifications), and TCPMP.
One thing i did notice was strange that last night when i was trying to connect to my home WLAN i could only connect if i removed the storage card! Weird but probably unrelated......
You'd better remove all partnership on your 9100 and then connect again instead of making HR each time.
Had problem initially and found it was firewall.
Have you checked your firewall to see if it is blocking it from time to time?
Not trying to teach you to suck eggs so to speak but you may need to put the device into the trusted zone?
I have disabled the firewall, in fact I always disable the firewall and the av prior to sync.
I have also removed partnerships to no effect, thanks for your help anyway guys.
looks like another hr....
Having exactly the same problems here ... 4.* series seems really buggy, have no wlan or bluetooth .... but sadly its the only thing working for wm5 devices .... microsoft should be ashamed for such a sad update to activesynch.

How to stop random activesync action ????

Pleased with my Orange M3100 so far, about 3 weeks of use...
Just have one problem, activesync randomly starts up and I'm bothered that I may accidently start a phone call if it fires up whilst in the case and I don't know about it...
I have the WiFi turned off unless I need it and also have data disabled using
the util off MODACO... so it shouldn't be seeing any thing to sync to, the only thing active is the Bluetooth which I leave on all the time for headset or GPS use with TOMTOM...
Any thoughts please....
Phil
You need to use the 'Fake Server Trick'. I can't find links to it on this forum, but if you spend a bit of time searching you'll find it on the board somewhere. I saw it mentioned recently.
It was a must-do on my old Dell Axim x51v because it would stop the PDA starting and lose the compactflash card amongst other problems, requiring a soft reset to start the PDA. Not so much a necessity on the Vario II thankfully. If you can't find it here I posted a thread on Aximsite a while ago giving the procedure step by step:

Is this gonna stop the WSOD and the "not coming back from standby mode"? Cause I've got these problems in daily basis and I have to reset all the time
I have a question about the fake server trick. Will it stop direct push? Also, will it stop updates to my calendar and contacts from syncing?

I can't really answer your question with absolute certainty because I don't use the Direct Push service on my Vario II.
However, I would guess if you already have an Exchange server mapped for Direct Push, then you need to have Activesync running for it to work properly and sync with the Exchange server regularly, so the F.S.T. is probably not for you.
That said - if you are getting problems which *may* have something to do with Activesync launching itself while on standby and causing WSOD etc, you could apply the F.S.T. then just load Activesync manually, start a manual sync, then close Activesync down afterwards. This would completely defeat the object of Direct Push though!

Give it a whirl... it can't do any harm.
I didn't realise the Hermes/TyTN/VarioII sufferred from these problems... maybe because I did the F.S.T. on my VarioII the moment I received it.
I did the fake server trick, seemed to work, but after a while ActiveSync is back in my runinng programs list. Is that normal or should the program be gone?
Every time you dock and sync with your PC, Activesync will load on your TyTN no matter what. When you undock you'll need to manually close Activesync otherwise it will stay running in the background.
I'm assuming you docked at some point?

No, I didn't. I did the server trick 4 times now, but every few hours when I look at my open programs ActiveSync is there again. I don't know if ActiveSync still tries to sync automatically or does nothing, but is is there...
Killsync - Stop ActiveSync!
So you have ActiveSync and you want to stop it from running. Well with Killsync, it stops ActiveSync so you can release the ram and increase the speed of your PC. This application does the same thing as the user switching to the task manager and killing the wcescomm task. When you need ActiveSync you can click on the ActiveSync icon. You can try putting Killsync in your startup to close ActiveSync if it starts first.

Just got around to trying the fake server trick yesterday, it appears to have worked on my M3100.. May it continue...
Thanks for help
Phil
Hi all yes I tried the Fake server trick 2 weeks ago before going To Germany on Business. I have not had the problem in the two weeks away. seems to have worked though I was not syncing quite as much or to same office PC. I will see home it goes now I am back in the office.
Thanks

Scheduled E-mail Sync through Wifi - problem with standby?

Hi all,
I want to be able to sync my e-mails with an Exchange server and I want to do this through Wifi where possible to avoid using GPRS.
I had hoped to use push e-mail through Wifi but it seems that's not possible.
The next best thing therefore is to set up a schedule to get Activesync to do a sync every 15 mins.
I'm finding that even this isn't working as it should. I do get e-mails but it's definitely not syncing every 15 minutes and instead it only seems to sync when the phone is active for a decent length of time. I think the problem is that Wifi isn't active when the phone is in standby and hence activesync is only able to sync when I actually use the phone. Activesync does come up with error 85020006 which seems to be related to not finding a connection.
Is there a way to get Activesync to enable Wifi when it is due to do a sync? Or does anyone have any other ideas of how to get round this?
I did find a reg hack that is supposed to keep Wifi active in standby. The hack didn't seem to work and I don't think it's a good fix to this problem anyway since it will use up so much battery life. Really I just need Wifi to be active when Activesync needs it.
Thanks
Any ideas?
Surely I can't be the only one that wants to do scheduled e-mail syncs through wifi?
i have same problem. did you find a solution ?
Any luck here?
I somehow managed to get this working on my d2 original 6.1 rom.
cant replicate it on dutty hgr 6.5 or stock 6.5
it automatically enabled wifi when syncing with eas server and then turned it off again.
i tested several options to enable wifi in standby, one of then fixend this on demand only wifi when in standby. i have not been able to replicate it again, i would like to have it again though. i disabled gprs and had a constant ping on the phone so i know it woke ut just in time to sync.
please let me know if you find out.

data conection (active sync)

for the third time now i have noticed that the data conection has been turned on early hours of the morning.
looked in task manager to see wot was running and the only thing was active syc have looked at was of tuning of active sync or settings for but can not find any way around this.
any one with ideas about this.
many thanks
nobody know then why this happens
Activesync has a way of starting itself. You should have your Activesync set to Manual for retrieving your email. That might help.
