Of course I do understand that I cannot run active sync and the modem out of the same connection type, but... if I connect my XDAII in two separate ways to my PC can I download and sync?
Thanks,
Chris

Hi,
I understand that you can sync XDAIIs with outlook on my laptop connected to a server through some software, any ideas please.
Many thanks
Hi,
I'm not 100% sure on what you mean. If you can "physically" connect your IIs to the laptop (WiFi or USB or even BT) then you can simply use the normal ActiveSync route, install ActiveSync 3.8 and just link the two together.
Otherwise you can instead have ActiveSync (on the device itself) running in Exchange server mode and it'll ActiveSync straight with the server IF you have an Exchange server. I use this method myself and it works perfectly even over a GPRS connection.
Hope that was of some help. Sorry if I missed your point.
I have a problem with ActiveSync (or with my Qtek 9000, who knows): when I connect the PDA to the PC through USB, the PC detects the PDA, ActiveSync goes into "Connecting" mode, and then.. nothing. It says that it can not connect.
I followed several troubleshooters on the Internet, but the symptoms still remain.
Perhaps it's a software problem on the PDA. I'd love to perform a hard reset, but I must synchronize first (it's been 2 months since I can't synchronize, and I have done quite a bit of appointment and document entry on the PDA).
So.. what should I do?
I can connect the PDA to the Internet through WiFi and GSM 3G. Should I run a backup program, transfer everything to a FTP site, and then hard reset?
If so, which backup program should I use?
Is there anything I can fix on my PC to make it connect to the PDA?
What is your advice?
THANK YOU!
I have exactly the same problem when connecting via a USB cable to my home PC. Connecting to my home pc via bluetooth works fine and connecting to my work pc with a cradle works fine.
I've tried using different USB cables, different USB ports and have two Qtek 9000's with exactly the same problem on the same PC. I've tried re-installing AS 4.1 and 4.2 and both fail to sync with the cable.
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
My Qtek 9000 used to connect and sync on this computer. In the last 2 or so months, this hasn't worked. No idea why!
Are any of you using the app "USBSwitch"??
For some reason, ActiveSync is using settings for a serial connection to connect to your PDA. USBSwitch will allow you to set the connection as RNDIS, which will allow you to connect and sync.
You can download it here -- http://forum.parallels.com/thread2743.html
I had the same problem with my Cingular 8125, and then found out that HTC included the USBSwitch app into the latest ROM upgrade. Has been working fine ever since I found it to switch over.
I had similar problems with my Qtek 9100
My problem was my firewall (Sygate personal firewall (SPF)) which did not allow me to connect via USB.
If I turned SPF of it worked.
My current firewall, NVIDIA Firewall, asked me if I wanted to allow the USB connection to my device. When allowed everything works fine.

Hi all,
I set up my Trinity to also check my hotmail account. Ofcourse, when I do this outside the confines of my home Wifi network, the P3600 automatically connects to hotmail via my UMTS connection.
When I'm on the road I don't mind this, but when I'm at the office, where there is no wifi, I would like to use the connection my PC has to the internet. I was thinking about using BT for this but don't know if this is possible at all...
Anyone with suggestions?
I don't think this is possible via Activesync, but if possible I would like to avoid the use of it anyway...
Thx for any suggestions!
if connected to activesync one is connected to the network of the pc with activesync
unless steps have been made on the pc, pda or office network to block it
i surf with bluetooth connection to activesync all the time
Likewise i use the USB active sync connection to connect to the internet on my Trinity, and Alpine as well. The only restriction, as mentioned, is that if the PC has limited access rights then so does the PDA.
Hey thanks Rudegar & deedee, I didn't know this actually
So simple and obvious, but I never tried it out
Guess I'll have to install Activesync on the [email protected] too then....
i can't not connect internet by active sync

Hi guys!
with windows and active sync usb connection i can use the internet on my phone via this connection.
i want the same without active sync and windows. i mean i want the same scenario with ubuntu and the synce connector.
if i plug my phone on the usb port under ubuntu und choose active sync connection on my phone i got a new iface in my ubuntu (eth2 169.254.2.2)
looks like a normal active sync connection.
but how can i use the ubuntu pc as a gateway for my phone?
Internet sharing
Go to start Internet Sharing Pc connection as USB, select network conection at the bottoum left connect .. thats all just open IE browse the sites
Hi,tnx 4 reply.
but i think this is the completely wrong way.
if i use your description my mobile is the gateway and i can surf the internet with the pc that is connected via usb.
i need the other way.
if i go to inet conn. sharing as you describe. i can select usb and below my provider (in my case E-Plus Internet).
if i click connect, the phone is bringing up 3G internet. that is not what i want.
i want to use the network connection on my pc to use with my phone.
when phone is connected to activesync click start don't click X on activesync as you want to keep that running
choose
settings->connections->connections->advanced->select network
choose my network or what ever it's called on your device
rather then my isp or what ever it's called on your device
then now your phone will use the same network connection the pc use
unless you block it by firewall or otherwise block it on the pc side
