'Avin A Larf!' - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Do you think that when they made the analogue option on the clock they were making it for Gullivers Kingdom.
Can anyone actually tell the time when they set to analogue?

Nah!! They are just winding us up. Or perhaps it resembles a rotating screwhead to confuse them wot likes playing wiv screwdrivers!!

Analog Clock on Today Screen

Hi all!
I am almost done getting my Today screen looking the way I want it - but I need one last item. I need a simple Analog Clock - nothing terribly fancy, and I don't need any additional features to go with it. Just a clock that I can sit on my today screen....
Googled and didn't find anything (SBP time, but it has WAY more stuff that what I am looking for)...
Anyone know of such a plug-in?
Thanks!
never fear, for i shall create one!
vijay555 has it. As he mentioned, he has not package it..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39417&highlight=
I'll try to have another think about packaging it up. Problem is, when I release it, someone will want to skin it, or resize it, or change the position etc. It's the follow up that puts me off releasing it :? VJEphemeris is customised for my use, and is built on a more generic skinning engine I'm working on, but I'm working on improvements incrementally.
Mention some ideas and me or whoever else releases one can try to implement it.

Vijay - I went and looked at the other thread, and the clock you have on your today screen is pretty much exactly what I was looking for...
As far as ideas go - I'd love to have it transparent....
I was on the bus yesterday heading to a Bulgarian folk music festival. Long story, but also a long journey, so I spent some time thinking about the plugin.
As I said, VJEphemeris is an experiement in skinning and a general "do everything I can put into it" plugin, but unfortunately due to time pressures (pun intended) I've not been able to work on it for a while.
However, I spent some time thinking about the plugin. It already does transparency and stuff; I guess it'll need a date line as well. I'll give it a go, again subject to time pressures... but I also said that about 6 months ago

Vijay, that would completely rock!
Thanks muchly!
I agree with kehlert, we need a small lightweight simple clock, about the size of the one on your magician post Vijay.
Just as it is would be great, but floating and selectable opaque/transparent would be nice as well.
I'll bet there are a few of us waiting with bated breath
Will wait meekly though Vijay

update
I acutally, before posting, sent SPB a question regarding the Time app - if it had a Today plug-in... They say in the *next* version it will, but not the current one....
So close to being set with my today screen...

There is a standard analog clock. On my vario, if i press and hold on the clock, it asks me if i want digital or analog. I must admit it is a little small and probably not what you are after.

Yup - *way* small (was aware of that from previous PPC)
Thanks, tho!
you can use WisBar Advance Desktop from Lakeridge software
you can make any png file as your clock
it is very nice program
something like this?

Installing as I type....

Wow - that's pretty much what I was looking for, except for the multiple clocks...
ViJay - if you're still working on the single clock, I am still interested - this just gives me something workable for now...
Thanks JwY!!
you're welcome
i just remembered this thread when i came across that so it was perfect timing

BeMario - Jump like Super Mario with your GSensor (Diamond & Omnia)

Hey,
id like to present my new Windows Mobile Application for the Diamond and Omnia.
BeMario - Jump like Super Mario enables you to jump like the good old 8-Bit Super Mario. Every time you Jump the "Jump" or "Coin" Sound is playing.
The Theme Song is also included.
You can set the sensitivity by double tapping the screen. The Red horizontal line shows the current sensitivity.
Please tell me what you think about this. Hope you like it
If you like this Application you can Donate in EURO or Donate in USD
Look really interesting! Gonna try it when I am back home!
Thanks!!
reserved for future post after test tonight..
Hey looks interesting
Can't test it because my Diamond has a pit stop right now...(warranty; repair)
So is this a Mario-like game or is it for now just jumping around?
Whatever it is: Great idea
At the moment its just for jumping around. Just for fun.
Maybe i will make a real game later.
amazing app!
but you need to add the mushroom sound..
also maybe making it more sensitive

Awesome app, I ran around the office jumping around after I downloaded it.
Just discovered this. I love it. I have it on my Omnia and once I set the sensitivity I was away!
Is there any chance of a future version remembering your previous settings cos it's a bit of a pain having to set the sensitivity and turn off the theme every time. Also, you could have options for which sound(s) to play.
Wicked app though, loads of fun

How can we get this ball rolling?

okay ive had a fair few htc devices, and im a fan of flashing custom roms etc.
i've just ordered an s740 as i think they look like lovely devices and have heard good reviews so far.
Now i've seen olipro's thread which went off topic..
so how shall we get the development ball rolling?
how about a collection to get olipro one of these devices
(going for about £180 - £230 on ebay)
and im sure if we all donate £5 - £10 (or more or less if need be) it wont take us long before we get some good custom roms etc
i know i can't be the only one out there thinking this!
Let me know what you guys think

is everyone really that happy with their device???
Hi,
I only find 1 thing annoying. When the keypad is locked I am still able to use the keys for volume.
For the rest I think the device is pretty good.

I think it is pretty good as well but could still use a few tweaks. I would contribute to any of the following on an otherwise clean ROM...
OS
Windows Mobile 6.5 - Well this is an obvious update, especially if HTC never offers one.
Usability
Tx9 - Sometimes Tx9 is used and sometimes not in various applications on the ROM. Would be much better if it were one or the other.
Browser System Command Warning - Warning on dialing phone numbers from the browser seems unnecessary if the dialer is going to 'verify the number is correct' anyway.
Key backlighting - Frequently I get a reminder late at night and the phone is locked but the reminder doesn't turn on the key backlighting so I can see which option is which. Other applications are inconsistent as well.
Home start menu All Programs - I would prefer to have the option to not see 'all programs' there.
Home start menu scrolling - I don't like having to choose 'more' there. I would much prefer the scrolling through each panel of nine icons.
1,2,3,4 app - I suspect this is an HTC feature but I really dislike having one more UI to learn. When you flip the keybaord open it shouldn't prompt you with a 1 SMS, 2 email, 3 messenger and 4 exit menu even if it is for 5 seconds. Better to keep whatever menu you are in.
Features
Weather Panel - This seems like it should use the GPS and pick a city. Also, if you turn the phone off or in flight mode and turn it back on it should recheck the GPS and change the city or prompt to change the city.
Option to keep keyboard locked even if open - Well some of us have little kids and they figure out how to get the keyboard open pretty quickly
Codecs
I don't know what ships by default but some obvious codecs would be AAC, AC3 and any other standard codecs.
Additional Applications
Impromptu Meeting App - The automatic ring feature is great if you use exchange since your phone will go into vibrate mode in meetings. In fact you get kind of dependent on it handling that for you so if you go to the movies or dinner or an impromptu meeting you forget to switch to vibrate or afterward you forget to switch back. It would be nice to have an app to put a placeholder appointment on your calander for an hour or two (which would switch to vibrate) . Even better if it would remove the appointment afterward.
Shortcuts - It would be nice to create shortcuts to applications in something that shipped with the ROM.
Settings
Home Page - I know this can be changed in the registry but while someone is at it change the web homepage to igoogle or google mobile.
If I like something on Rose, it is boredom with her when setting/tweaking. Without any "exciting" seeking/trying/zilions of reflashings of ROMs.
And, to be honest, MOST of things on your list ARE included in basic settings and some others are easy to be changed by simple (permanent!) tweaks in registry. I'm lazy to collect here what's where, so just two examples:
Rose IN STANDARD supports not just AAC, but AAC+ and eAAC+ as well, others are H.263, H.264, MPEG-4...
Function of your lovely Impromptu Meeting App you can activate on standard Rose in seconds: just activate Auto in Profiles. OK, it does not vibrate (it switches into quiet mode), but it exactly switches automatically ringing behaviour based on calendar events IN STANDARD. And they're much more such things (avoiding Action Menu, keylock not deactivated by sliding of te keyboard)...
So instead of calling for extra ROM, which will do what's already there, my recommendation would be classic: Read the f..... manual first. And if anybody would see gimmicks like iGoogle on homescreen or GPS based weather as so exciting that it will deserve tens (if not hundreds) of working hours on extra ROM just for these - you'll be a lucky man.
IMHO, spending few hours with searching around for settings and these few tweaks would be much faster and time efficient...
we don't need HardSPL, SSPL would be fine. Perhaps we bribe Olipro
$10 each ? whats his price
I'm sure if one of you lent oli your rose for a bit he could work his magic and get the job done
fuk i am on board. can we have some info from olinex(olipro+cmonex) as to how much donations is needed to get this done! i am getting one but shocked as to the lack of dev activity here. come on guys support yourn device.........once we have some solid feedback from the olinex crew then we can get ball rolling! they would really need the device but it is so similar to the touch pro in form factor that HDSPL for touchpro might need slightly tweaking to work on s740
I think this forum is dead no one poast here no one wants to do something with this model..are you so happy with your phones as they are without any improvements?
Maybe if someone could give as a tutorial how to make an HSPL we could do it more fast and we could make the ball rolling can someone do this?i am would be glad to help and do something for this device cuz it`s too awsome :d

[IDEA] Control your phone by sending Vibration!!!

I was very intrigued by the development of 'Seismo' application...which can detect vibration.
This is just an IDEA for a fun application.....and maybe...just maybe useful....
I'm sure u can isolate and identify the harder vibrations. With that said, lets say i left my diamond somewhere on my table...and
1) i TAP on the table twice....and my Diamond makes a noise in response...letting me know its location.
Or maybe i have it in my pocket...
2)Tap once while the music is playing to change the track....or to silent a call...or to ignore it...
and i'm sure this could be used for alot of other things.....let me know what u guys think..
Its a simple suggestions...if this is worth any of ur time....i would love to see an application like this.
Peace...
nice idea!
hope someone will create this!
That's a nice idea There could be a problem with detecting the taps, but I'm really looking forward to such an app.
Real Reason??

I am ready to develop the app. I have already downloaded the code for siesmo and changing it. But I am still trying to think of a really useful reason this app will accomplish.
So if people here can contribute and come up with some real reason.. it would be nice...
i mean I will still work on this irrespective ... and then may be share some code ...
ciao...
Maybe switching the screen on/off? I mean it would be good to get fast some info on missed calls/unread sms by taping the table
- answer a incoming call (and automatical switch the speakerphone on?!)
- next/prev track in s2p/music-tab/wmp
- chance profile (vibrate/mute/..)
- dismiss reminders/sms/calls and stuff
- find the phone on the desk
But probably this app should work only if Diamond is lying on a table - Gsensor in horizontal position I don't want my phone to do strange things when I walk with it in my pocket

true!
That could also be preventable (most of the time) by instead of using one tap (fairly common occurance by chance) to three/or more taps.
The best use would really be to mute (music/mic/ring), while in pocket. That would really be useful. Just tap...tap...tap... and its mute.
Won't this kill your batteries? I mean you would have to poll the g sensor all the time in the background for it to work.
Also there is already G Trigger which could be configured to do something similar.

I agree +1
Honestly i am still trying to find a good reason for this idea....
I am sure that if the code was written and could be made to do stuff with say a mort script, that people would find all kinds of unimaginable things that they could do with it!
I'm loving the feedbacks....
...like the issue with the battery.....very true..
but Seismo App .. was a battery drainer...but it was fun..
.We'll make it only poll if you run the application....it can still be useful...
say for instance ur studying and you were listening to songs on ur phone hooked up to the speakers...and you want to quickly change tracks...or ignore the call so u can keep listening....
or you studying and you wanna make notes of what ur reading...u tap once/twice..it starts recording..."note to self....blah blah blah " Tap again to end...
or Tap twice to run Microsoft Voice Command...
If it's not going to take too much effort..i really think its worth a try....i wish i could develop...i know i can do graphics...so i'll be helpful in that field...
peace,
Solidkundi
You know a new game from the wii - they had an idea with the tabs : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYiYzrSuyFs
Perhaps something like that - we hav the controler and the monitor in one device
So many uses!
Just imagine, one tap for pause, 2 for next song, 3 for prev. song.
Double tap the table and it lights up and shows notifications.
Would be wicked!
Or...
If you've got your phone in your pocket while playing music, and you want next song you tap one time against your pocket (with the phone in it).
Your phone recognizes it and plays the next song. If you tap twice, it plays the previous song. Of course you can make more combinations!
The reason why this could be very handy, is because it's very annoying to pull your phone out of your pocket if you want it to play another song.
A bit the same idea but then in your pocket...
damn right.....especially when the phone has silicone casing...
even when i get a call..and its in my pocket..it'll take me soo long sometimes i miss a call...no joke.. if i can answer it just by tapping on it...that'll be nice...so i can tell them to hold on for 5 minz. then struggle to take out the phone in my pocket.
Here's a video of samsung s8000 Jet...it can regonize taps on the phone.........maybe they're using the same method we're trying to achieve

Minimalistic call screen too minimalistic for you too?

So...basicaly-I have nearly decided to jump to WP7 for good.Im good with the battery life,i like the minimalistic feel and tile idea of the whole UI and there is one thing that i have cursed since the release...the nasty plain simple call screen ...with white letters on a black background ...or vice versa.Personaly i want to f**k up the screen with a knife, then run it over by a bus and then throw it in the sea all because that stupid layout. So my question is-What could be done with this issue?Could it be done like iPhone's green tinted while on call ,red while ending and with full screen contact picture?I have not,and can not look up trough the dump of the rom and couldnt know the structure and encription (if any).Because i just dont have the place and time to do it as im in constant movement due to my job.
This is just a discussion thread.I just want to know if this is managable. And maybe one day if it recieves enough views it may be done...
Sent from my HD2 NANDROID via XDA-app
Don't think it can be done - WP7 is rather more locked down than WM6.5.X and if it is done at all, I doubt it will be soon.
Personally I don't have a problem with it...it's a call screen
Agree, things sometimes get a little too minimalistic for my own taste.
However, as time goes by, more and more tweaks will come. Just observe Mr. Schaps´s work a bit (creator of TouchXPerience tools and mods), amazing stuff...
The thing is how hard because the PS3 was impenetrable, hack proof and things...look at it nowDont get me wrong i really like the option to change the style, speed,UI and feel of my device at will. And i may be asking for too much but for a person that is being noticed by strangers as a phone addict...the screen shows itself too much for me to bear Its interesting to hear other people's opinios on the matter as its one of the things that boogles me alot in the smarth-superphone world!
Also-do you know about an App like that for android where you can set your contact picture to appear full screen ?

If the executables aren't obfuscated, isn't it possible to dissemble the .net applications so we can modify the call screen?
Even so, I think the problem will be allowing the executable to be patched...

Pretty sure that`s impossible, we`re talking about Microsoft...
I just realised how many different defences they could have put in that OS.I tought making it would be easy...and it is but reaching the point where all defences are broken is where it will get nasty...but i dont know if such defences even exist ...
