Hi there - I would love to know which ROM is the best and the fastest for the TYTN - there are so many but which one is the best ?
Pls give me your opnions !
Peter
My opinion is that you will need a flame-proof suit.
Each ROM is different, try them and choose what you prefer. The official release ROMS are apparently quite good. I personaly use Black Majik, and will update to Black Satin when it is available.
best rom
yes I tried several rom and the best one is black majik because it very fast and stable
if you want it send me your email
my actual ROM dates are:
Schap`s 3.30
Radio: 1.41.00.10
Do I have to change the CID an the RADIO version in order to install the Black Majik ?
Is there any description of the process for a layman ?

edit: hmm weird wmblack.info says it isnt available.. but im certain i downloaded black satin already as thats what ive been using as a test rom in core pro... weird.. let me go check.
Do you like Coke Zero or Pepsi Max?
I'm running Black Majik at the moment but really like Schap's ROMS.
Looking forward to his new one being released.
If you haven't loaded a cooked ROM before make sure you read the instructions on this forum.
Easier to spend some time reading now compared to spending time later trying to fix.

Peter,
Read read read.. . However, to answer some questions and hopefully help.
Try looking over my experience here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315119. I describe, with lots of relevant links, of my very successful experience with moving from WM5 to WM6 and Black MAJIK and the (then) latest radio version of 1.43.
No you do not need to change CID or radio to change OS ROM (ROM is in 3 variants: Radio, Extended and OS) Some upgrade ROMs can comprise any single, any mix or all ROMs combined - you'll need to read up on this on the actual ROM post links. The Hermes Wiki is the starting point but my experience will certainly help)
I have no experience of other ROMs but after LOTS of reading selected Black MAJIK and have not looked back since - see my linked post for comments from others too.
The Black series of OS ROMs are produced by JJ and he is working on a newer ROM called Black SATIN. JJ has a web site with basic 'Black' ROM info (http://wmblack.info/) and the download link. However, this only links to the latest 'Black' OS ROM and the latest version (SATIN) was broken so has been taken off the site. Take a look around for other posted links to his earlier version of Black MAJIK and you should find it if wanted (others are already asking and it's posted there somewhere I am sure - many of use have it on our PCs.
Black SATIN is based upon one of the official OS ROM releases (most other OS ROMs are not) but has been 'cooked' to modify it by adding/removing elements and optimising performance. All of the WM6 ROMs out there will have their fans and although the many posts are VERY long it is worth at least skim reading a few to get the general impression of the qualities of the ROM that you are interested in.
If you do not want to unblock your device (Super CID) to work with any sim card then the process could be:
1. Backup device settings/files and get all the files and config details saved
2. Read the advice then - Install Hard SPL
3. Read the advice then - Install new OS
4. Read the advice then - Install the new radio ROM
5. Rebuild and configure the device
The above process can be done physically in about 1 hour! BUT there is lots of reading to do. I personally spent about 3 days reading and alraedy had lots of knowldege - this is not actually required but such reading will greatly ease your fears of 'bricking' your device and leave you better able to cope should anything go wrong. When you have done it once then the process is very simply and you'll not think much of doing it all again - that's why so many people just tell you to read the posts and especially the wiki because they did for very good reason.
Warning - if you mess up the process by not following the very clear instructions then chances are it will have ben your own fault. But others will be there to help and it is most unlikely that someone on this site has not seen your problem.
Good luck
Thanks for the link - but under "Upgrading to WM6 Black Shadow" I get the answer "not released yet" - so from where do I get the Black Shadow rom file ???

Peter,
You must have misread my post. I assume that you mean the link to Black MAJIK - and if so then I wrote:

Your reply above to Peter7 ... "Read read read..etc" is one of the most succinct, clearly written & easy to understand posts I've read since I've started visiting here. From reading it ... and following the link to wmblacks website, I've found a ROM that I'm willing to try as my first departure from the native WM5 ROM that came with my Dopod 838Pro. My only disappointment is that Black Satin is not yet available.
Oh, well! I guess after I've upgraded once, a second upgrade will be all that much easier.
Regards ... and have a good day!

Hi there!
Today I've bought an xda exec with the following specs:
Rom: 1.13.82 WWE
Radio: 1.04.02

What is the recommended update to the ROM and Radio I can do?

That's an old O2 ROM. The latest (last!) original XDA EXEC ROM from O2 can be found here.
Then there's an ocean of home-cooked ROMs, mostly WM6.x (you gain A2DP and other features but lose on video calling).

Welcome to Uni forum (gosh, I sound just like Orb2000 now ) Actually, make it ORB3000!!!! There, much better!
While we cannot recommend a particular ROM and Radio combination, your device comes with standard features, so pretty much anything that takes your fancy and is suitable for your device in this section would be perfect for the taking. The first thing you should do is read the Wiki, it contains loads of necessary information to help you identify your device and its features for the upgrade purposes and avoid any mistakes or pitfalls. Then you can familiarize yourself with available ROMs and read user opinions and feedback on their performance and features. Generally the best performers will be found on top of the WM6.1 upgrade section marked as a Sticky. Finally, once you get to know all you need and are ready to upgrade, you will be able to try some out and select the one that has the best combination of features FOR YOU. As far as Radio is concerned, there is no fast and steady rule for a perfect combo, some developers will recommend the Radio to be used with their ROM, some users will suggest what works for them, you can always try various versions (ftp server is your friend) and see which will work best for you.
Best of luck. Enjoy!
Thanks!
I've already read lot's of information on wiki for universal...
Already unlocked the "sim lock" and just updated the radio to the last one (1.18.00). Before the universal, I had an Magician (still have it, and working great with the WM 6.1 by cotulla).
I've read about the G3 and bootloader, but didn't understand how to update the bootloader (my universal have 1.00 version)... What is that for?
Also, I will try the WM6.5 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529951 because read 'bout that and like it... just one question.. it the 6.1 better than the 6.5? If I change the rom to 6.5 can I change back to any other, inclusive the 6.1 rom?
Thanks!

6.1 ROMs are more developed and used, therefore will be more stable and practical in everyday usage. Another thing is available resources, e.g. 6.5 ROMs tend to be on resource-hungry side, therefore those of us with standard 64Mb machines will not get as much free RAM or speed in some cases available to run our favorite programs as those with devices upgraded to 128Mb. You can try 6.5, of course, just note the above points. And of course you will be able to downgrade to other 6.1 or shipped ROMs.

Oops, it was 1
I'm so tired of this phone right now but since my company only offers HTC phones with WinMo this is the only one that's "interesting".
It has actually worked kinda well the last month but after I changed ROM last Friday it has been totally unusable. After the ROM-change I couldn't hear anything when I made a call so I changed radio, problem solved... I thought.. The phone freezed after one hour so I had to take the battery out and when I tried to boot it again it took the phone 6-7 minutes to get past the screen with Rom and Radio information. When it got past it I got the first booting screen with the "Windows is setting up your phone" blahblah so it was like I have made a hard reset.
Ever since I have tried different ROMs and different radios but nothing helps, it keeps giving me these crazy problems. On some ROMs I'm unable to save and access my contacts etc. One thing that is persistent is the time to get pass the screen with ROM and radio information, it's really slow no matter which ROM or radio I'm on. Of course I haven't tried all ROMs and radios but around 4 ROMs and 3 radios.
Is there anything else then ROM and radio that can be updated or replaced because I'm on the edge here and I'm about to throw it in front of a car just to get rid of it.
I appreciate all the help I can get.
Hi, try out OzROM and Radio 2.08_2. This combination is very fast, stable and usefull. I have testet a very lot other Roms but OzROM is the best off all !
Never hang since 1.30, good phonequality and no big Problems.
And remember to make a hardreset after flashing !!!

How many ROM's have you flashed since you got your HD2? were they from the same Cook?
I always Flash a Stock ROM (via USB of course so I don't lose HSPL) before flashing to a new ROM by a different Cook... (so If I was on LIA, before flashing Dutty's I flash the Stock ROM, before flashing Artemis, Flash the stock ROM, before flashing Miri... and so on...)
If I want to get a truly clean device, I do a task 29 via mtty, which is akin to formatting your PC before you install a new OS.
Try mtty, its fast, easy and the results are proven (head over to the stickied mtty thread on HD2 ROM Development)

one of the reasons I have never flashed a custom ROM...the stock rom may have bugs but I have found that custom ROMS have so many more!!
I've yet to find a stable one, so now I don't bother with them...pity as they do have some nice features, but I can't live with the drawbacks
If its a company phone and, I assume, you use it for business purposes in the main and it was working ok, why did you upgrade the rom with the risk that you might break something?
How much reading have you done on here? Have you looked at the Hints & Tips thread fpr fixes or the "HD2 died- or did it" thread that deals specifically with the lockup issue?
If you are a secret rom junkie, flashing roms every 5 minutes, are you aware of the issues with doing so and the need for MTTY?
I tend to be very helpful to people in trouble; however I am struggling to understand why you fiddled around with a business phone that appears to be critical to you and was, as I understand it, working perfectly beforehand?

Jes thats it, you can download it on the OzRom Site
If you get Duttys HG ROM from my sig radio 2.08 is included so no extra flashing needed
In addition to the other recommendations in this thread (mtty/stock rom, etc.), I would recommend you stick to the 6.5 series (21xxx) rather than 6.5.x (23xxx) for added stability and speed.

Yes its a company phone and yes it worked "ok" after trying different custom ROMs. But I think that a phone in this price class should be working perfectly and not just ok. That's why I tend to flash a new ROM once in a while, because I want perfection. And we all know that HTC won't give us that.
Even though the last working ROM was ok, there still were some issues that didn't affect my daily use but that bugged me a bit, that's why I wanted to try a newer ROM.
I don't know that much about MTTY but I will look into it now. Thanks for the heads up.

True, but all programs and features that's implemented in the phone should work as designed. If they don't, the device isn't perfect imo.
Do you know how many issues Apple fix with the iPhone each week? All phones have issues, all PCs have issues, anything to do with tech has issues!!
End of the day you either try and fix it, send it back or wait for HTC to fix it (although some issues may be down to M$ themselves)...
LeoLite 2.3 with radio 2.08.50.08_2 is sweet!
The ROMeOS ROM is great as well - head to romeos.monx.biz for that one...
MTTY
I'd reiterate the advice about the MTTY, my device was utterly corrupted and flashing didn't help. After a MTTY format its back to 100%. Choose your ROM's carefully though, i still had some stability issues with some of the more exotic ROM's (even after a MTTY), I ended up choosing something closer to stock (Dutty) which was rock solid.
Hi all,
Flashing of RADIO rom is that same reason as my Kaiser?
Better performance, GPS, etc etc?
And where can i find a thread where i can see where the latest radio rom is working correct in given Country's, or are the HERO Radio roms for every country?
I know for Kaiser that not all roms are working correct in Netherlands for example.

Yes indeed, that is exactly what updating the radio is good for.
I don't think they are country/region specific,... I just used the latest one and my network signal is now much better!!!

Don't want to start an additional thread for my [question], so this seems to be a good place to ask it .
Where do these radio roms come from? How come HTC don't provide them for downloading in their site? Maybe it's simply not worth flashing them or they are actually not good in a sense that they are not tested properly and stuff?
Also, do the full ROM upgrades include a newer radio? So can we expect a new radio included in the upcoming official 2.1 ROM?
AND, what is the difference betwen EU and JU? Currently I have 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18 and the newest one is 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26. This may sound super dumb, but maybe mine is like European one and the newest is Japanese or something?
Oh, and the last one (even though I'm sure there is an answer somewhere deep in these forums): how do you flash radio, in short?
Thanks

I'm no pro, but I can attempt this,...
Where do these radio roms come from?...
I *think* the official updates from HTC come with updated radio ROMS,... Then some clever guys from either here or Modaco take 'dumps' of the update from the handset itself, then seperate the two.
Maybe it's simply not worth flashing them or they are actually not good in a sense that they are not tested properly and stuff?...
I take XDA to be a reliable source of information now,.... If you do your research you'l be fine. I made sure I read through the forums to make sure there are no known issues before upgrading my radio to the latest one.
Do the full ROM upgrades include a newer radio? So can we expect a new radio included in the upcoming official 2.1 ROM?...
Hmmmm,.... Good question. But no-one would know that yet.
Maybe mine is like European one and the newest is Japanese or something?...
I thought the exact same thing, but NO,... It doesn't mean anything,... Apparently it is just a reference used by HTC. I used the latest on my Orange UK branded Hero, which is now being used with an o2 SIM.
How do you flash radio, in short?...
To install a custom firmware ROM I had to update the recovery console. Once that is done, you just put the new radio onto your SD, load into the recovery console, then select update from SD,... DONE,... Easy as pie,... Piece of cake!!!
Thanks all for the info.. And yes.. NEVER pull the Battery out of the phone.. untill you can slide down your lockscreen isn't it? haha

Hello. I know I should have looked around more but I did and I am still confused.
I have got a HTC HD2 today from USA(the T-mobile version) and it has lots of the branding, now I would like to simply flash it with a clean software(ROM) so it would have an original boot screen and stuff but I dont know how to do it (i looked at the flashing tutorial but I did not understand it at all, although I know how to flash Nokias and Sony Ericssons )
Would someone be able to provide me with a few simple steps what to do? This is the t-mobile version with 1024 mb of rom and 16gb internal memory. (Well it has the simlock as well but as far as I know the ebay seller has to provide me with an unlock code as they promised). I am sorry for creating another topic but this is my first Windows phone I ever had and I really want to get it working asap because at the moment I can not even call/text because of the simlock.
I am unsure whether I should have posted it in the ROM section or the General section so mods please move it if applicable.
Oh No. I just realised there is a special forum for T-Mobile HD2's. Sorry!
Thanks for any support. I will appreciate it a lot.
Look Here. Do try to at least read the stickys before posting. This thread is found in the T-Mobile USA HD2 ROM Development forum, believe it or not.

Did you even read his post before giving him crap?
He said he read it but didn't understand it. I don't really blame him since that write up is a bit confusing. I even had a hard time following it and I had owned and flashed my Fuze long before going to my HD2.
It's a pretty simple process. Go to the T-Mob section/ROM section. Find a ROM you would like to try. You will also want to download the HSPL found in the tutorial. Run HSPL once the phone say "We Hacked It" you are good to flash a custom ROM of your choice. Once you download the ROM you want go into the file and pull out the file ending in nbh. If it does not have the name LEOIMG.nbh rename it to such then place it on the main directory of the memory card. Go into bootloader by turning the phone off, pressing the volume keys then while pressing them press the power/end call key. Once there just follow what it asks/tells you.
It's that simple. You don't have to worry about doing task29 right off the bat. So let that wait till later when you are more confident of what you are doing.

Everything you need to know is in that post. I worked it out reading from the same tutorial, how is it that he fails to do the same?
can you be more specific in your question? what part is hanging you up?
also...why can't you make calls? that doesn't seem good...
Would his simlock issue not be him trying to use a non t-mo sim in this phone!?!?

Maybe because you had a WM phone before owning an HD2 and already understood the flashing process? He said he read it and didn't understand it clearly because he had never owned a WM phone before this one. Like I said there is some confusing information in that post that kind of conflicts with itself. It could have been written a bit more clearly. The OP of the tut kind of takes it that the person reading it should already know some things about flashing.
Also to the OP of this thread. Changing the ROM will not sim unlock the phone it will simply update the OS. If you want to get the sim unlocked you only have a few choices. You can either wait for the person you bought it from to come up with one for you, you can go to one of serveral sites and purchase one (normally around $14 US), or you can contact T-Mobile for it. Since you are3 most likely trying to run this on another carrier that latter will not work for you.
Also what carrier are you trying to put this on. Depending on the carrier you might have limited service. If you are trying to put this on At&t it will not get 3g service.
I looked at those ROMs, but they are all modified, all I want is a brand new rom with no t-mobile stuff and I would stick with it until my htc skills get better. I just really want to get the software stuff done before I actually start using the phone.
- I think I will get the code tomorrow, they have to give me one as its a part of the transaction.
- I tried to use it with 3 UK as I live in the UK.
- I can't make calls as I can not start the phone with my UK simcard (I made it sound like a faulty phone in my first post).
Once again, sorry for posting in a wrong section... I was too unpatient. Got my phone in hands and gone to xda-developers.com straight away hoping to get everything done quickly and then I realised the difference between HD2 and HD2 Tmobile
Simply... I understood the tutorial better after reading it many times, but all I want is just debrand my phone (with no cooked roms or any other stuff), at least now.

Ummm the only rom for the TMOUS HD2 you are going to find "Without" the TMO stuff is a Custom rom ...
To take the TMO stuff out you have to MODIFY, or you take another ROM from another provider and MODIFY it ... So for what you are looking for is a clean, slim custom ROM ...
There are a few out there that are really slimmed down ROMs some even very close to stock , find one that sounds like you like and is compatible with your phone and give it a whirl , you will need HSPL first, HSPL3 is out so search for it ...
Just in case if someone wants to help me searching for a "clean, slim custom ROM", I will provide some hardware and software info that I think my be useful.
Ram Size: 576mb
Flash size: 1024mb
OS Version 5.2.21889 (21889.5.0.87) - isn't Windows (6).5.3 out?
Manila version: 2.5.20121412.1
Rom Version: 2.10.531.1 (82076)
Radio Version: 2.08.50.08_2
I will have a look for a clean rom (is anyone using a clean rom or is it just me demanding too much from that phone?). Please help me look for one...

I prefer the energy ROMs but they may not be close enough to stock for you
so look here ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656835
If you seen 21xxx in the OS version it is 6.5
If you see 23xxx it is 6.5.x (Actually I think 23xxx is 6.5.3.xxx)
Basically getting rid of startup and shutdown logos would be good.
This is the generic rom I would like to use but it will not work: htc.com/europe/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=856
Is there no equivalent ROM to this one but for the TMO US version?
And finally, I can hardly find any clean ROM but i will keep searching...
EDIT: I found the newest T-mobile rom on their website which I have now downloaded... is there a way I could remove all branding from there before I flash it into my phone?
Btw, Is it true that the US TMO HD2 will not work with 3G network in UK? I'm scared now
I will make a new topic in the appropiate Tmobile HD2 Section... Please answer there if you want to help me.
My bad I did not notice the tmobile section before... Sorry Once Again.
