[Help] Update recomendation on xda exec - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hi there!
Today I've bought an xda exec with the following specs:
Rom: 1.13.82 WWE
Radio: 1.04.02
RAM: 64MB
What is the recommended update to the ROM and Radio I can do?
Thanks in advance!
Best regards!

That's an old O2 ROM. The latest (last!) original XDA EXEC ROM from O2 can be found here.
Then there's an ocean of home-cooked ROMs, mostly WM6.x (you gain A2DP and other features but lose on video calling).

Welcome to Uni forum (gosh, I sound just like Orb2000 now ) Actually, make it ORB3000!!!! There, much better!
While we cannot recommend a particular ROM and Radio combination, your device comes with standard features, so pretty much anything that takes your fancy and is suitable for your device in this section would be perfect for the taking. The first thing you should do is read the Wiki, it contains loads of necessary information to help you identify your device and its features for the upgrade purposes and avoid any mistakes or pitfalls. Then you can familiarize yourself with available ROMs and read user opinions and feedback on their performance and features. Generally the best performers will be found on top of the WM6.1 upgrade section marked as a Sticky. Finally, once you get to know all you need and are ready to upgrade, you will be able to try some out and select the one that has the best combination of features FOR YOU. As far as Radio is concerned, there is no fast and steady rule for a perfect combo, some developers will recommend the Radio to be used with their ROM, some users will suggest what works for them, you can always try various versions (ftp server is your friend) and see which will work best for you.
Best of luck. Enjoy!

Thanks!
I've already read lot's of information on wiki for universal...
Already unlocked the "sim lock" and just updated the radio to the last one (1.18.00). Before the universal, I had an Magician (still have it, and working great with the WM 6.1 by cotulla).
I've read about the G3 and bootloader, but didn't understand how to update the bootloader (my universal have 1.00 version)... What is that for?
Also, I will try the WM6.5 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529951 because read 'bout that and like it... just one question.. it the 6.1 better than the 6.5? If I change the rom to 6.5 can I change back to any other, inclusive the 6.1 rom?
Thanks!

Yes, sweetie, I know, I made myself sound like some improved, but not perfect model of you, you know - 'better than orb1000, but still not quite the orb3000'!!! My apologies. The only explanation I can offer is tiredness and late hour of my posting. Will amend my post now.

6.1 ROMs are more developed and used, therefore will be more stable and practical in everyday usage. Another thing is available resources, e.g. 6.5 ROMs tend to be on resource-hungry side, therefore those of us with standard 64Mb machines will not get as much free RAM or speed in some cases available to run our favorite programs as those with devices upgraded to 128Mb. You can try 6.5, of course, just note the above points. And of course you will be able to downgrade to other 6.1 or shipped ROMs.

Roms Roms Roms

Hi, first of all would like to say this website is a great resource. I am slightly confused over the number of ROMS available. I have a MDA compact 3, its runs WM5. I want to upgrade it to a better ROM. Now which rom in your opinion is the most reliable and looks good? I want WM6, but what is the difference between touch pro and WM6? Is touch built on WM6? And how about the O2 WM6 Premium & PremiumPlus 1.0 WWE??
Can someone just recommend a nice ROM that will allow me to use my TOM TOM and run proficiently.
Many thanks

Hi Seeker,
There is a thread comparing the different ROMS. But iMO you just can't say which one is the best one...depends on you.
Sometimes the developers making full and light editions, it's your choice if you want to use a app-free or app-loaded ROM.
Maybe a look into the threads can help you, in all the first threads there are some screenshots and a short description
about the released ROM.
I tried a lot of the ROMs since now (Fracoon, Tom, Meschle) and i was happy with every ROM.
TomTom is working on all of the ROMS....there is no reason to choose a special ROM just because of TT...
Cheers, Peter
thanks Peter, will have a look. One more question Are all the new roms based upon Windows Mobile 6?

When you're searching in the Artemis WM6 Threads....yes of course
Cheers Pal
...and I think your own experience is better than the impressions of others.
There are always people reclaiming some things in a ROM you maybe
never had a problem with. And hey, a ROM is installed in 10 minutes...
And to say which one is the best isn't objective and unfair against the developer...
Well thanks to this forum and ppl, i have managed to install a new ROM, works like a charm
Im thinking of trying others out. will i have to run the Artemis_USPL again everytime i install a new rom? or is this just required once?
Thanks again

Yes, always run USPL before , otherwise you could brick your device, and that's no fun

Cheers, will do!

Which ROM to flash onto Wing?

Guys, I will be getting a Wing soon and since I hear a lot of bad things about the original rom, I'd like to update it. The question is, which one? Browsing through the xda forums shows me like three or four different ones and I'm not sure which one to get. Skimming the FAQs, I ran across these:
What ROMS are available for my wing?
Thanks goes to David for the links.
For the Wing, you have these options :
Touch-IT version 1
Touch-IT for The Wing Full and Lite Ed.
Touch-IT version 2
(updatet 14.oct) Touch-It Wing v.2.0 build 17938.0.3.1
PDAVIET v4.17.07.14
TOUCHFLO v4.17.07.14 PDAVIET - For Wing's users only
T-Mobile Stock Rom w/ Touchflo
Here is a TMO Wing Original ROM with TouchFlo added
Which one?!

don´t confuse him - there are so many......
read how to flash and test them. and please read ALL threads from the beginning. to see what problems others had... and how they solved it.
Thank you for the replies! Is it possible for you guys to tell me the most popular one so I can decide from there?
Or
Should I just do the page pool, overclock, and removal of useless programs? After doing those, would they be as fast as the custom ROMs?

It depends on your personal test. Try one. If you don't like it, try another. Etc until you find the one you love.

Sorry papamopps,
I was only trying to give him a newer link since the one from the newbees section only contains older roms.
But you are correct, he needs to spend more time reading to help reduce any possible issues when flashing.

HTC TyTN (HERM100) NEWEST CLEAN ROM UPDATE WM6

Hello, I am bad in english, so please give me please the link to the newest ROM and RADIO version for HTC TyTN (HERM100). He is unlocked. Please give me the ROM WM6 or WM6.1 clean, so without others aplications, like ROM from official HTC
Thanks very much, sory for maybe spam, but i cant search becouse I dont understand nothing
This is in bootloader:
HERM100
IPL-1.01
HERM100
SPL-1.11
Hi...take a look here to get started with rom info (most are using WM6.1):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419530
And what version is like official from HTC Diamond, becouse this ROMs are modified and added many programs, i want the hole ROM instalation WM6.1 for Hermes, you understand me??
There are NO official wm6.1 for hermes...they are all ported from other devices & cooked!
I know man, a said like official ROM, so where is on this forum the ROM for Hermes with WM6.1 which is most similar to "Hermes official" (if that will been)
So I look for hole ROM instalation without programs from user modificators
When searching for roms pay attention to keywords such as "clean" or "naked." These are usually stripped down and should be what you're looking for. Also, for many of the usually bloated roms they also offer "Lite" versions which don't include as much custom software.
Does that answer the question?
There was some ROM nothing changed/added/removed ... but I can't find it now.
EDIT: found it - http://rapidshare.com/files/152424620/anryl910_19212.rar.html
I have IMATE JasJam
In Device Information it appears HERM100 PocketPc
Can someone please tell me where can I get WM6.1 ROM for my phone

Welcome to the exciting world of Polaris!!
One rom you should take a look at is the one you mention in your post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459826
It comes in a variety of flavours from Full through to Naked, so hopefully you'll find a mix that suits your needs. I think the latest official radio version is 1.59.44.02, but there are some later unofficial/unreleased radios that are as good if not better (I'm using 1.65.30.09 which has been great).
Most people do not report any differences with battery usage with the cooked roms or unofficial radio versions, in fact some of the later radio versions seem a bit lighter on the battery.
I'm tipping that you know about the hard-spl stuff, but if you're not sure there is an excellent thread in the Polaris wiki if you want to double check.
Hi,
I did the same some months ago and use C Shekar's' ROM "a" but am going to try his new ROM "b" today.
The Polaris is faster, but my Artemis was very very good (I kept it as a spare) with a cooked ROM.
Battery worse with the Polaris, but I do leave the bluetooth on.
Let's see how you get on.

WM 6.5 on HTC clone ?

Hello guys.
I have purchased a HTC clone also known as the HTY 3238 Model.
Basically as far as I am aware this is pretty much a clone of the 3232 Official design.
Now I have seen WM6.5 ROMS on this site for the Official 3232 model but I was wondering if anyone has successfuly put WM6.5 on the HTY 3238 Cloned model ?
Thanks very much.
Oh and if it is indeed possible could someone provide some links to what I will need/guides.
I have had a look round and I think I have found what I need but I just want to be sure just so that I dont brick my phone lol.
Btw sorry for the double post. I could not edit my post.
Thanks again.

While there is info about various 6.5 ROMs in that thread BUT the general feeling there is that Clones cannot flash from 6.1 to 6.5. I know because I asked the question there and in other Jade threads.
The thread about Sunno Clones has users who supposedly have flashed from 6.1 to 6.5.

I *think* he said, prior to your post that no one in that thread said that they were able to flash from 6.1 to 6.5.
Possible
I to hace the Clone and upgrades with the Smart.upr on my memory card. I did have to do a few things.
1. Small Memory card I used a 1 GIG card.
I took out the Sim card. and did it by holding down OK, Left Green Button then the power. it started working in a minute or so . IT took 10 Min to finish.
I tried all other ways and they DID NOT Work. Best of Luck...
I also updated my T3238 Clone from WM 6.1 to WM 6.5 without any problems and it was working fine.
The only problem was that I could no longer define buttons with different programs. In WM 6.1
I used "AEButton Plus" and with that programm I could do that. Because I want to push only one button while I am driving in order to use Voice Speed Dial. Therefore I went back zu WM 6.1.
Now I only have to push the ok-button a little bit longer, tell my phone whom to call while IGO is still working.

When I had problems with the ROM I had, I realized how difficult it is to try to flash ROMs and end up with a working product. As a result of that incident, I also learned that there are differences between ROMs and that all versions are not created equal or fully functional.
As a result, I now believe it is best to stick with what you have. 6.1 supposedly is felt to be better than 6.5 which is buggy IMHO. Hopefully WM7 will be better but that is a year away.
I completely agree to you. I only try to flash a rom when I'm 100 % sure it's the right rom for my device and if I have the original rom to go back.
