I'm using Pocket Informant v5.02, it works flawlessly before I hard reset my XDA2 and restore the backup from Sprite Backup...
But, After I restored the backup, my Appointment/Reminder didn't work...the didn't reminds me anymore (no sound), and I checked my db notification, I have only 6 db notifications left...
Same problem but I'm not using Pocket informant!
I haven't performed a hard reset since purchase (2 months) and haven't installed any new files, s/w, patches, upgrades or even changed any tones!
I've checked all the notification settings and all seems ok - plays the right notification but when I set up a reminder.... nothing! Phone rings as normal for incoming calls, screen clicks have sound, no problems with speakerphone (which is how my XDA I "died".... any suggestions are welcome... I propose to perform hard reset and restore from full backup(via activesync).... any other ideas????

On recieving a text message no alert is sounded.
Worked last night, doesnt this morning. With clam shell shut it means you dont know if you have recieved a message and constantly need to manually check.
Checked all the settings regarding sound notifications and everything seems to be correct. All the correct tick boxes are ticked.
Tried changing to vibrate still nothing.
When changing the alert sound, pressing the play button, to hear what it is does nothing.
All sounds play ok in media player so no corrupt files.
When changing the ring tone in sound notifications the ring tone plays ok, it seems to be with all the other notifications.
I have done a search on this topic to no avail, others have had similar problems but all down to not having set the phone up correctly.
I have done a soft reset and a hard reset, both resolve nothing.
Corporate install on the hard reset.
I upgraded to the new radio 1.06 on friday and all seemed to be going well upto this morning. Havent seen anything related to this on the upgrade thread.

ExtRom 1.13.188
Phoned O2 they are sending a new phone out which is all well and good, but just out of curiosity I wondered if anyone else had come across this.
I vageuly remember having something similar, but it was when I was using some .wav's i'd gotten off the web. If I remember right, they played fine when hitting the Play button, but when an SMS came in, it either wouldn't play or just hang the XDA. If fixed it by converting the .wavs into 11khz stereo to match with the ones preinstalled by O2, and it all worked.
Don't know if thats related to your problem, but I assume you tried the regular .wavs and they didn't work either, so a new XDA was probably the best thing anyway
Funnily enough it was with a wav file that I have been consistantly using upto the other night when it stopped working, but like you said I tried with the other sounds but to no avail and no vibrating either.
But at least with a new machine I can raise the rubber screen stops before the marks start and also there wont be a dent on the outside where I accidently knocked it while in my pocket.
And hopefully the hinge may be tighter, and the keyboard may work properly, ( c and space keys need a bit more force ).
But apart from that the phone is great.
I've been using my T-Mobile MDA Vario (latest T-Mobile ROM) for a while now and it intermittently loses sound! By that I mean the screen tap clicks, the beep when you change the volume using the slider and most importantly - incoming call ringer! A soft reset fixes it for a while, and sometimes changing the volume one notch up or down fixes it (but not always). Anyone come across this before?
TIA!
Tim
I had this problem with wisbar advanced lite - do you use it? After using the phone, there was no sound until i performed a soft reset - after i unisntaled it, the problem never came up again...

Nope...here's everything I have installed
Thanks for the reply. No, the only third party software I have installed is:
Smartskeys
Omapclock
TomTom5
ADBWeather Plus
MemMaid
Total Commander
GPSdash2
PocketUAE
TCPMP
Virtual Earth Mobile
Haven't touched the ROMs or anything else.
Cheers,

Hey
. I have an XDA2i. The problem that I am encountering, is to do with the ringer. When I recieve a call, the tone comes on, but it cuts out for a split second every 3 seconds (i've timed it, it's every 3 secs) which makes for a very broken up melody lol!
The onboard sound is working fine and all tones play fine in the sounds and settings window, and when txts come through it's fine too... seems to just be incoming telephone calls.
can anyone help me with this problem please??

Good vibrations...?
Hey Bane,
Do you have the ringer set to "Ring and Vibrate"? The vibration at times could interfere with the ring-tone, and would explain the 3 second thing. Another option is the tones sample rate, is this an mp3 ring-tone? I have noticed that the driver to play incoming call tones does not support high quality files, try down sample the tone and see if you can hear a difference.

RE: Good vibrations
The phone is set to ring and vibrate, but I have tried it every which way... same problem. And I know that it isn't a result of the file, as it is a problem which has manifested within the past 2 weeks. I have been using the same tone for the past few MONTHS. Quite odd, the file incidently is a WAV file also.
I'm gonna try a hard reset when i get the itme. ( can't remembe how long the backup battery takes to deplete to give me a proper hard reset, but I'll give it a go)
Thank you very much for the tips mate, I had great hopes that the answer WOULD be one of the few you suggested, but no such luck

SORTED!
Hello there. For anyone reading this topic who had the same problem as me.... I eventually found the time to make a back up on my SD card and perform a hard reset, and this has sorted out the problem! weird though it was... a hard reset works

During a few weeks I've experienced the following problems with the hemli wm6 rom.
Audio driver crashes randomly, allows for no playback, call ringing tone (!!) or conversation when calling someone. - Soft reset fixes.
Audio files go missing (?), suddently all ringtones are "invalid or missing". - Soft reset fixes.
GSM connection crashes, no phonecalls or SMS's are recieved.. NO notices either, untill you try to make a phonecall or send an sms. - Soft reset fixes
Battery status goes "dsadFSA", might be a battery problem, but is almost everytime related to audio goes missing. - Soft reset fixes.
Connections manager doesn't work most of the times. Either nothing happens or wifi/bluetooth disables shortly after it has been enabled.
Storage card goes missing (?) Suddently the storage card is missing in filemanager and no applications on it can be run. - Soft reset fixes
After some soft resets the bluetooth is magicly on.. Even though it was never told to.
Random GSM failure, sometimes calls and sms's aren't recieved for about half an hour. Suddently reactivates and everything is recieved.
Other non rom specific software issues:
pocketcm.com keyboard crashes randomly, doesn't load skin or doesn't recieve input. Sometimes it crashes on top of everything and soft reset is required.
Conclusion:
It is an awesome PDA, but a terrible phone (this way). I still enjoy playing games on it (bejeweled and monkey island), but untill i can solve these problems i go back to my e61i as phone.
In between testing Karmba and Schaps ROMs on my Trinity I realized that it was not ringing any more. Income calls get through, I can see the pop un in the screen but no audible ring. Music and every other audible notification is working fine.Last night I flashed back to Karmba a7.2 elias, and it started ringing, but this morning problem was there again. Any idea? Will be that soft or hard problem?
No ring
I have the same problem. I cannot get my phone to ring. I what WM6.1 and when you try and change the ring, it will revert back to "Ring-WindowsMob" and you can not exit the screen by hitting the "OK" button or the "OK" on the screen. Any help would be great.

I just have the same problem after a couple of moths using Faman 4.0 with no mayor issues, it stopped ringing, all other sounds or music are ok.
I had the same problem, because tha wma file format was associated to another player and not to the standard player...

The Notification bug in Windows Mobile 2003 / WM 5.0 that causes slowdowns and alarm problems, i have resolved my problem with pmclean .

sorry for my bad english,i'm italian people
Happened on my Xperia
I lost the incoming rings and the ability to change ringtone when I associated wma files with mortplayer.
I unchecked it in mortplayers settings and now everything is fine again.
Thanks speederi.
guys, it might be a 3rd party software that causes the issue. Did you guys install any other softwares that relates to audio before the problem occurs?
Like myself, i installed SRS WOW (and might did something wrong to it) - sounds were ok but after i turn off the device and wake it up, sounds are gone - actually it still plays, but very2 soft and you can hardly hear (even if i set the vol on max).
Doing an uninstall doesn't help at all. Luckily i had backup (using SPB) before installation, so i just restore back those data and got everything working back as normal.
Maybe more info would help for the rest to troubleshoots?
