I tried the SD Card Method of Flashing the unit, I used XDARit to write the nk.nb1 to the SD card, after the flashing has completed, there will be an error or CheckSum Error, and doing a reset will just bring me to the bootloader.
Pls. help. Thanks.
Xdatools superceded xdarit, download another rom, use xdatools to write it to sd and try again.
I have tried cooking rom at yorch.net and lumpistefan, but still the same problem exists. where could I get a more reliable rom so as to let my machine work nomally again?
There is nothing wrong with the roms on those sites, there are hundreds if not thousands of people using them.
I tried to download, and Xdatools says Incorrect File size, and sometimes, even though the Xdatools writes them to the SD Card, after flash writing, checksum error still shows up.
I am building those roms as Nk.nb1, for SD card flashing. This is the correct procedure right?
I don't know why this unit shows up checksum error.
The file you download from the site is in zip format, right click on the downloaded file and unzip it, it ill then work correctly.
crusin-thru,
thanks for the assistance. At first, I was using the Xdatools' Osimage tool, at about only 59 seconds, writing to the SD card was done. But it always fails as checksum error.
So I tried Xdarit 1.0, and this solved the problem, though it takes about 15 minutes to write. but it worked succesfully.

My PC's activesync crashed and hanged while flashing the ROM. Now the xda is stuck with Updating screen.
Can someone please tell me which file to download from Jeff's kitchen (nk.nb1 or nk.nbf or anything else) and how to write it to SD card for flashing.
I tried to write nb1 and nbf both, using xda-tools, but it is not copied in the format required by the bootloader. In fact, in either case it is copied as a file which is not identified by the bootloader (my version is 5.15). boootloader starts with GSM OK message, and does not give me option to flash the ROM.
Can someone please please tell me how to do it?
you need SD card writer or a SD backup from another XDA.

Thanks.
I was about to go to the service centre for rom image from another xda, but I decided to give it a try using usb cradle, and ran the original upgrade program. It came out with error and asked me to soft reset the device and try again, which I did, and it worked. I now have a working xda!
I tried to upgrad my qtek using the XDA_Tools directly with USB and it failed, what I can see in the screen is only grey lines.
Now, I'm trying the other wy using the SD card. I followed all the steps mentioned in the forum and I used the XDA_Tools to make a ROM image on the SD card.
When i go to the boot loader while the SD card inserted it doesnt prompt me that there is a new ROM image on the SD card.
I tried to use variouse versions of the ROMS's and it still gives the same result.
I have bootloader ver 5.15
SD card 64 MB
SD read/write USB
Can any one please help me to perform this task to have my qtek back.
Thank You
you used nbf or nb1 format ?
did you cook it like that or extracted the nbf from the ROM exe ?
Hello Biso,
I tried first cooked one from yorch nb1, then I tried NBF I already downloaded , both couldnt work.
I doubt that there is a problem in reading from SD card, as I now I try to perfrom back to SD card it tells me " CARD FAILED"
Thank you,
Hey Biso,
Just curious by what you meant 'extract the nbf file from ROM .EXE file'? Is this the proper way to do it?
I cooked various versions of nb1's and nbf's but they won't copy on the SD card. Whenever I try to copy an nb* file on the SD through a USB card writer using the XDA tools, I get a message reading that there is something wrong on the filesize and it cannot proceed with copying the file.
Hey Peter, did you get the nbf file on the SD successfully? Do you need something more than just XDA tools?
My bootloader is also 5.15.

Yes I could get the file on the SD, you dont need anything more than the SD tools, but my only problem is that when I insert the card and go to the bootloader nothing happens[/quote]
Ok Peter,
It seems that I'm running through the same problem myself. The copying process through the XDA tools seems to be going smoothly but after it is completed I can't see the file on the SD card. Have you checked that the file has been really copied on the SD? I'm working on it now. Let me know if you find something first.
Hello All,
Yes, I always cook the ROM as EXE and if it doesn't work I extract the nbf file from it.
The best way is to format the SD card using the XDA. Then use XDAtools to copy the nbf to the XD card through the USB cradle. When it's done, the SD card should NOT be readable. The XDA might ask you to format this card ... just press NO!. When you go to the bootloader it will be recognized.
I just flashed my XDA with A30.09 few minutes ago ... I used exactly those steps .... Good luck
Thank you Bisso.
I managed to pull it through myself in a slightly different way. I had to copy the nbf file in the program files/XDA tools/binary/english folder. I then run the XDA tools and indicated the source and destination folder manually the source being the nbf file in the above folder.
It worked!!!
For all those of you cooking your ROM from Lumpi Stefan's kitchen beware of the 4.01.00 ROM. It's a T-Mobile's ROM and if you're not happy with it, it won't let you change it through active sync. You'll have to use an SD card to download a new ROM on your Qtek.
Hello Biso,
I am not able to perform ur way of upgrading because my qtek doesnt boot it gives those grey black and white lines, so my only wy is to go through the boot loader, could the version of the rom be the reason that i doesnt want to boot in the boot loader?
Hey Peter,
I had the same problem and I figured out why. Make sure that the command lines on the source field of the OSimage tool window point to the right nbf file which you had extracted from the .EXE file. Click on the 'browse' button next to the 'source' field and pick it up manually. Then proceed with the copy and slide your SD in your Qtek.
Let me know of how you did...
Hi there,
I have searched for this problem and found various suggestions involving xdarit etc but none seem to help.
I am getting the above message following a ROM flash, using sd card writen with xdarit. I have tried 3 different roms all producing the same result. Originally tried flashing with a w2003 rom but would be grateful to get anything working!!
The xda will now only show bootloader and some checks.
Wallaby bootloader 5.15
Anyone able to help?
Kind regards
Have you tried another SD-Card? MAybe there is a problem...
Flashed my device about 50 times, and had sometimes (about 2 or 3 times) the same problem.
Reflashing worked then fine...
Stefan
Thanks
I have tried anther sd card with the same result.
FYI I am formating sd cards FAT before writing rom to them
Could I be using the wrong rom?
Kind regards
maybe a corrupt file sometimes files taken from the internet gets damaged on their way to you

Q Should xda be on mains power when flashing or does it make no difference ?
yes it should have power from the cradle or the power connetor
Thanks
I am downloading another rom will try again.
Kind regards
Hi
I have just downloaded a new rom and written to sd with xdarit, flashed and received following message again.
"CHECKSUM is not correct"
Could this have anything to do with the formatting of the sd card?
Anyone have any more suggestions
Kind regards
should not as far as i know iso tool should give the sdcard it's own format which only the xda can read
and of cause the sd card have to be 64MB or over a 32MB card will not do

What is going wrong?
is that a problem? i remember getting the checksum is not correct problem as well in the end. but after cold reset, the device worked fine. or so it seems to. should i be worried?
Hi,
I really struggling with the goldcard process.
I think the image file(s) I'm getting from QMAT are not correct.
I've tried the process twice with two different SD cards.
The SD cards are not recoqised once I add the image to the SD car.
Can somone check the attached files. The text file is the serial numbers for the two cards, and the zip file contains the image files I received.
You'll notice in a hexeditor that the image files contain lots of zeros in the first few blocks where I expected there to be data
Could a few people upload a working goldcard.img files so I can check the hex against mine?
I made some further progress by only transfering some of the hex over (the later part) to the SD card- at least this allowed the bootloader to recoqnise the SD card and try to load the nbh file.
HELP!
Did you formated you card with FAT32?
I had the same issue with an unbranded card, but after I chaed it with a "normal" one evrything went well.
Cheers,
Seba

The one I was sent has a lot of 0s at the beginning and breaks the filesystem, but it didn't stop me from flashing the 1.61 update (via USB), and I'm pretty sure my device is vendor-locked. I'm not 100% sure it helped me either, but I'm not flashing again to test until something interesting comes out.
Once you've loaded the goldcard.img (which breaks the file system).
What exactly do you do to download the latest firmware.
When I activesync with the PC, and try and run the RUU_Leo....exe file it fails during install.
Can anyone explain how a goldcard actually works. What's on the goldcard that makes the phone take ROMS not meant for the device?

Get in the bootloader on the phone with it plugged in via USB and just run the RUU from the PC. Simples.
In what way does it fail?
When I get to the bootloader and try to run the RUU I eventually get an ERROR 262.
I'm still stuck

You need to change the initial 2 characters of the SD Card ID to '00' before requesting the goldcard.img, as explained in the tutorial.
Thread closed.
Please use the existing Gold Card Sticky thread for problems.

I have reloaded the stock RUU back onto my phone with no issues, but when I try to flash PC36IMG.zip I get stuck. I have downloaded the file several times using multiple browsers and have even downloaded it using my phone and placed it in the root of the sd card with the same result. Here is the log that is generated when trying to load the image:
SD Checking...
Loading...[PC36DIAG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PC36DIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading...[PC36IMG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PC36.IMG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
There may have been more lines but the only way I could get this log was to try to snap a picture of it because it only shows for about a second. I have noticed that several people are having the same issue and thought it would be nice to have a thread started to find a solution or determine if we are doing something wrong. Attached is a screenshot of the error.
Update: Reformating the card fixed the issue!
Use a different micro sd card, re-download on the new card
I am not using the original 8GB card, I am using a 16GB card but good suggestion I will try that. I hope it is that simple.
Format your SD card to FAT32
It is currently using FAT32 already but I am going to try a reformat and see what happens, will post results soon.
It's the card. I had the exact same problem using a 1gb card and ended up having to use the card from my Droid. I'm not sure why it happens though, I thought it was because hboot needed a sdhc card but your using one so I dunno.
Thanks a lot a reformat of the SD card did the trick! I have been trying everything and that worked!!! Im happy now
I had this problem too. I tried re-downloading the file, formatting the card in my Evo, formatting it with the sd card formatting app in Windows. Nothing fixed it. I FINALLY booted my netbook into Ubuntu (Linux) and formatted from Gparted (FAT32). That did it. So, if you have a Linux box available, try that. Or a live Linux CD/DVD would work too.
Same problem i formatted my card and it still doesnt work for me any advise?

If you have access to a different MicroSD card I would try that, I can confirm that it is definitely a problem with the card though. One other suggestion is using Linux disk management program I heard one person say windows could not format it properly then used Linux and the card worked fine afterwards.
thanks jdickerman ill give it a try and post results soon
nope tried everything formatting the card and i got a new 4gb sd card and still the same problem
I had this same problem.
With Windows 7 machine, I formatted the stock 8GB microSD with Fat32(default) with 4096bytes. I used a "quick format" and then a copy and paste to move the PC63IMG.zip file to the card.
This worked for me.
-Sam
I am having the same problem - I've tried formatting using windows and now linux and still get the same results.
No image and No image or wrong image.
I also get a message saying - update failed Main version is older!
no matter what I've tried the results are always the same. Suggestions?
I - sort of - have the same problem.
When it hits "PC36DIAG.zip" it says "No image!"
when it gets to "PC36IMG.zip" though - it starts updating Boot/Bootloader/MICROP/etc etc
Am I missing something from the PC36DIAG.zip? Phone works fine...
Make sure the .zip is not corrupt by trying to extract it on your PC first.
I had this same error and noticed the file was corrupt when I tried to extract in on my notebook. I re-downloaded the file, copied it to the SD and all is well.
Remove the .zip on the file name. I had the same problem because I named the file PC36IMG.zip it already is a zip file so just name it PC36IMG. This worked for me. Goodluck!
will this get rid of these messages and still keep root??
i need to return my phone for i have the light leakage, and it is getting worse.
same problem
I am at my wits end. I have tried everything that has been suggested in this thread. When I try to update the radio in my HTC incredible, I get the message "no image or wrong image". It is weird because when the bootloader reaches the "ZIP" stage, it looks like it installs the software. I see a status bar on the right side of the screen. But then when I reboot, I have the same version of the radio.
I have reformatted the SD card twice now (both times using different FAT32 options). I have verified that the MD5 signature of the ZIP file is correct. I have made sure that I download the file directly to the phone and not copy it over the USB cable. Nothing works. I always have the same result.
This is really bothering me, because when I update to one of the modified ROMs, everything except my GPS functionality works. According to another thread, my problem is that I am using version 1.00xxx of the radio software. But nothing I do allows me to install the update.
The only thing I have not tried is reformatting using Linux. But I have very little confidence that will work, and given the amount of work it would take to install Linux...I am hoping there is another option. Other people in this forum seem to have been successful reformatting the SD card using windows.
Thanks for any pointers!
