Crashed!!!!
What is being displayed on the screen?
Are you able to use your XDA at all?
Will it still connect to your PC via ActiveSync?
the answer to all those questions is no....
no activesync
no using the xda
the only thing that is being displayed is the startup o2 sign and in the left hand bottom corner it says
g
r
s 31.85834 (or some number)
and then it goes to a blank white page.....
it keeps swapping back and forth from these two pages
thanks
jay
Are you able to get into the bootloader?
press and hold to on/off button while soft-resetting.
Do you have a SD card reader?
Also, where did you get the xda from, just incase!?!
im gonna try the bootloader thing....but what do i do if it works (im waiting for it to charge up abit before i do that) although i dont think it is charging
i dont have a sd card yet....
o2 online....i have insurance, i think (hope) they will change it....but im going away tommorow for 4 weeks....and im stuck without a phone...so i wanted to know if there was a way that i could reinstall it again...
thanks again york for your help
jay
hey yeah i can get to bootloader
wallaby bootloader v5.22
what do i do?
it siad there is a gsm erorr?
thanks
jay
Right, well it's a start, unfortunatly without an SD card reader there is nothing that I know that will fix this problem, as you cannot use Activesync without the os loading.
I've had a quick look around the forums but all related articles on fixes suggest the need for a card reader.
When you did the upgrade, did you remember to remove the power supply first?.
It seems that leaving the power supply attached while upgrading the radio causes an internal configuration error.
If no one else here can help with your problem, you will have to send it back to O2, they will replace it for new, however, if they do kick up a fuss, remind them of the Sale of Goods Act (Amendment) 2003.
Sorry, that's about as much as I can do mate. Good luck, and don't be but off the xda by this problem, I got mine of ebay and broke the screen within a week, had to fork out another £130 for a new screen, but I'm very glad I did.
ok thanks york......
i will give o2 a call.....
thanks

Great now press the Calender button, that should put you in the GSM
bootloader mode. From there run some of the options ect.., try changing your band to 900 and see if that helps also try turning the radio off as that might let your XDA bootup.
hi....i tried that and it kep saying....
gsm turn ON fail!!
any more ideas?
thanks
It started about 6 days ago, it will recognize it for about 2 days, then back to saying its not in the device. I have had this device sin ce last year, never having any problems. I upgraded the rom to mobile 6, and no problems, all of a sudden, with no real reason, it did this. When I did upgrade to M^, I had no problems, its been a while since then. So, what can be causing this>?
please try to upgrade radio module to 1.15. good luck.
SD card not recognised on XDA EXEC
I had exactly the same problem & I emailed O2 XDA support.
They recommended syncing your machine to back up any relevant files.
Then do a hard reset Hold down two soft keys together and press the hole with the stylus. then select zero key. To hard reset.
This wipes your machine back to the O2 standard.
I then accepted the defaults.
I then inserted my card and magically it is working.
Now i am having to reload my software that I have lost ...
But I have not had any trouble with this XDA EXEC. nearly a year now ...
Does anyone know if it worth upgrading the rom from 1.3.107 (4/11/06) with the Blackberry version, even though I will not be connected to an Exchange server ...
Or is it a case of if it isnt broke dont fix it ...?
Llew
I did that before, and no sim. Then I re installed WM6 ROM, and it worked for one day, and boom. I had the WM6 rom installed prior, and no problems for months. NOw, is like its broken....lol. I need this damn phone working, is like an addiction not having it, I'm using my p910 and its not the saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. HEEEEEEEEEELP!!!
I Hope this helps
I hope this helps
I've had a similar problme befor, ther are two things you could try.
1. try to elevate the pins that connect to the actual SIM card. Some times this pins/connectors get bent downward and do not make contact with the SIM Card. You should bend them SLIGHTLY more upward so that there is a frim point of contact. You could do this using a this coin or a credit card or something. Pleae don't bend it too much because you'll definately break the pins and that wont be good.
2. You could put your device into flight mode and take it off of flight mode. This forces the device to look for a SIM Card. When I had this poroblem I had to to do it after every soft reset It was annoying but it was worth it. Then I upgraded to WM6 and never had the problem again..
I hope this helps you, I know how it feels to have this happen, It's not a good feeling.

O2 XDA Exec not able to find SIM
Hi,
I bought O2 xda exec two weeks back, its having problem in detecting SIM,
and this problem is not very consistant, sometimes it works fine
I tried following things
1. I adjusted the SIM connectors
2. I changed the SIM in order to make sure that the problem is not with SIM
3. I upgraded ROM as well as installed WM6, it starts working when I upgrade ROM but stops after some time.
4. I tried switching flight-mode on and off, again it works for some time and stops again.
5. I even tried putting some paper behind the SIM to tighten it, sometime this technique works sometimes not.
So till this point I am not clear that this problem is mechanical(SIM socket)problem or software problem.

I think you need to return your phone for a brand new replacement while you are still close to your purchased date. It would also be nice if they can actually see the problem first hand, so they can't complain.
I have the similar problem with o2 xda exec this is saying Invalid or missing Sim , have tried changing sim dont work. Can you tell me in detail about where to get upgraded softwares and how to upgrade
hello Everybody
returning Universal user, just bought one used from a store, then a just whent on trying a lot of different Wm6 roms but they all had the same problem on my Uni, they ALL crashed by either freezing or just "turn off itself".
then after some time using the rom it crashes hard that it cant be turned on then it crashes at the boot screen.
i would like to get the original Wm5 rom back but where to go for finding it?
Regards
Prosasan
There are more mobile providers which sold Uni, so there are more factory WM5 versions. Personally I'd recommend the TMobile one. I'm sorry, but at the moment im using my notebook, and i dont have the ROM here, but i'll upload it somewhere ASAP
THX !
That would be absolutely GREAT !
i've been "forced" to use my Kaizer instead of my uni these last couple of days
but mine is from denmark, which was branded by Sonofon, but i would rather have some kind of "clean" unbranded version, by the way are there any difference between a branded and one that isn't ?
Found a Version of wm5 that is clean
so i think that i wont need the one from t-mobile, but we will se how it evolves
anyways how to support 4gb in wm5 ?

Welcome to the forum
I don´t think that the problem is caised by a 6 or 6.1 ROM, however try a wm5 and if not corrects try to read the Wiki
And don´t forget to vote!!

Could be a battery problem issue, test connected to wall charger and see if behaives the same, also remove your sd card and sim to test
Doing this we can try to identify the problem

Hello guys, I am having a problem with my unbranded x10i bought in UK (I am currently using it here in the philippines with a local sim card) . After I did an OTA two days ago, it just keeps on restarting/booting! I have tried the "repair" option twice in the PC Companion software but still no luck.
What's strange though is that when I tried switching the phone on WITHOUT a sim card in, it booted up with no problem (and I checked the build number, it says R2BA020 which probably means the OTA update was a success). I put the sim card back in and the problem came back, it kept on restarting.
What seems to be wrong? Any suggestions on fixing it? I would really appreciate your help guys. Thanks!
Update: I successfully rooted my phone hoping that rooting would solve my issue, but unfortunately it still keeps on rebooting/restarting whenever i put ANY sim card in.
Have you tried using another SIM-card?
yes. I have used different sim cards...
Try flashing back the original firmware.. and make sure the sim card is inside the x10 while doing it. Worth a try..
I have the same problem too and I have just updated my phone to R2BA024 and the firmware version is still 1.6. I have hard-reset so many times and reinstall some many times. The problem still there. I have contact Sony Ericsson customer service and bought my phone to fix. Got it back, problem hasnt been solved. I have waited for 3 weeks for a reply from them and end-up they said they do not have any new phone or spare-parts to fix my phone. Until then, I have contacted them almost 10 times and still no one has the right answer and just keep asking me to wait. They dun even have an exact date when the parts will arrive. I am very piss off now and I dunno what I should do next.
Its the same problem here with me too. Bought the phone from a friend about 3 days ago. was going all good when it just started to keep booting itself. While the sim is inside, it'll restart just as it finishes booting. Without the sim, its fine. I have tried other sim cards too, and format/reset my phone many times but it just isnt working for me anymore. HELPPPP!!!

Is it 32K sim or 64K???
hi techguru, can u tel me wot the diff is between the 32k and 64k sim ? many thanks
ISSUE SOLVED here.
BTW : my sim is 64k.
anyways, i found out that the problem was because of the faulty battery. what i guess is that the voltage couldnt get to the requirements of the phone, and everytime the sim radio (whatever its called) switched on, the phone just turned off.
I reinstalled/repaired my phone many times, GOT the exclamation mark of death one time also, but the phone just didnt turn on.
Later i noticed that the phone would just turn on itself when i attach the phone to the charger, otherwise it wouldnt turn ON. So what i did was just change the battery, and walla, the phone is ALIVE again.
Sim is working, phone is working.
BUT i see some signal losses from time to time, otherwise the phone is good enuff.
FOR me , the change of battery did the trick, I hope it works for u guyz aswell.
Cheers ...

hmmm. sounds interesting. I might try changing my battery. btw, i have tried using both 64 and 32K sim cards but the phone keeps restarting with any of the sim cards in. without both the sim cards, the phone works fine. how much does an x10 battery cost?
here, i get the cheap chinese battery. it isnt expensive, but its working great. almost better than my previous battery.
cost me around 2.5$.
but.. i am still getting lots of SIGNAL DROPS. i dont know why it is happeneing. I tried swapping the battery with the original battery of another X10, but no change. Signal loss is not a battery issue then.
Any idea what it could be ??
Signal loss?
Maybe a weak signal, or radio related?
or maybe its because i updates it to R026 is causing the signal loss issue ??
@techguru
I am also using airtel, but with a 64kb sim.
In my case it does not start.
It start if with no battery or with a 128kb sim of TIM.
I tried to recharge the firmware but nothing seemed to change.
I know that someone solved the problem swithcing off the phone in airplane mode, but this is not the case for me.
I also noticed that in some cases the led is green and is slowly blinking.
I am ready to change the battery if this helps, but I am not sure. Even if I put it under charge it does not switch on and the battery seems not to charge
As I bought the phone only since one day I wonder if they will change it.
hello all,
last week I bought the samsung focus from the US. (i am from Austria by the way..) and the first 3 days were absolute great and I was happy about my new samsung. but on the 4th day the phone shut down all the time, I cant stop it.
now when I start the phone I can only see "Samsung" and dark colour. this picture belongs to hours and hours. nothing happens.
I don't know what I can do, I have already tried it with the "hard reset" and a "micro SD" because I have heared that this 2 options can help.
But it doesnt work
Can anybody help me with this problem?
or knows anybody when there will be a new update?
I am going crazy because of this situation....
thanks for all your help!

Did you have a microSD card installed in the phone before the phone started rebooting?
Tussi1 - it's me again.. forgotten the password...
thanks for your comment!!
When I get the phone without microSD and I have started it without it. and everything works well the first 2-3 days.
I bought the mircoSD when I saw that I can't start the phone anymore. Because I read a lot that such a microSD can help when you this problem with samsung focus. I bought 2 different types (different GB's) but nothing works.
It was a 4 GB sanDisk and a 8 GB kingstonDisk. Both doesn't work!
As I already wrote there is only the SAMSUNG design on the dark display...
do you think I need a other microSD for rebooting it?
thanks!!!

At this point I would just take it back and exchange it. Sounds like more work than it's worth dealing with.
Did you format the SD card?
I realize you can't get past the boot screen currently but WP7 is notorious for SD card incompatibility.
Also, have you attempted to boot the phone while connected to a PC?
If these attempts fail, a return may be your only option but how feasible is it to return a phone to the US from Austria?
I believe you need to remove the SD Cards and do a complete reformat. I ran into the same issue after using an incompatible SD Card. Pull the Card, Turn OFF the phone by holding Power Button when NOT connected to power. Hold down Volume Down, Power button, and Camera button whilst the phone is off. That will make it turn on and ask if you want to format.
I believe that was it. Anyone know different?
