I have an i-mate with the 1.52 Rom version. GPRS connects fine, but incoming or outgoing phone calls cause the GPRS connect to drop. Attempts to re-connect only work after soft reset. Any help greatly appreciated.

Not, is for all world XDAII
I did download a 1.6 version(t-mobile). After backing up my unit, I tried to install and the program halts with a "country code" error message. I'm stuck. Any advice? I'm a newbie.
I've got the same problem with 1.66 firmware. Seems to be not solved by i-Mate team .

Hi everyone..
I have just upgraded my XDAII to the latest and apparently final Radio Stack (117) and rom (172) from O2 so that I could use the KSE Truefax (2.08)...
It doesn't work surprise surprise, instead it tells me the modem has reported an error, nothing more, nothing less, an error, fantastic!
Anyone have any ideas? or similar experiences?
John
have you tried soft or hard reseting the device recieving the errors.

Yeah it's still the same...
you need to get a separate fax number from o2 activated on the phone as usual o2 data hadnt tested it before they released the rom upgrade it took 2 weekd to get mine frunning but it wont recieve faxes automaticly and it will kill the celluarline to receive amke sure your pin is disabled other wise it plays up
I Have to restart phone to regain GPRS connetion every now and then. I have radio version 1.01.00 and rom version 1.03.00 WWE. My provider is Vodafone in sweden.
If I go to flight mode and back to normal then I can connect to GPRS again. Should I uppgrade my I-Mate to get it to work? Any Ideas what to do?
I've heard of people with similar problems, you need to upgrade your Rom, if you wanna stay relatively safe, upgrade to:
Rom Version: 1.72.00WWE
U can get this from club imate
I'm afraid I can´t find the rom on the Imate Club site. But you belive my problem will be solved by uppgrading the rom right? I´ll have to search for it then. ;c) Thanks.
I sure don't see any version 1.72 on Club iMate at JAM Device Support. The latest available upgrade I see is:
Radio 1.01.00
ROM 1.03.143 WWE
Where do you see version 1.72?
Frank
I believe he's referring to the wrong device. 1.72 was for the I-Mate Pocket PC - not the Jam.
Ok. I have posted a case to Imate and they where about to send a file to correct the problem but I got an emty mail.
Imate support don't know what this is. I'm back on the hunt. Anybody else having the same problem with theirs? Please let me know in this thred
Sincere Apologies, I was in fact dreferring to the I-mate....didnt realise this thread was under magician
Got an ansver from Imate. They sent me an PDF file where they showed me how to set up the GPRS connection. The problem is, been there and done that. I’m totally lost here. Is it only me who has this problem with “magican” and Vodafone? (In Sweden). Frustrating! ;c(
Note: With my P800 and the same location and same SIM = no probem at all.
I have the exact same problem with Vodafone gprs in Sweden
Hi Robert
I have the exact same problem with GPRS. I am also a customer of Vodafone in Sweden. I have this problem regardless of the device I am using. I have been running Qtek 2020, 8010, 9090 and S100 (magician) devices with the same problem for quite a while now.
I have started to think that this is not a device problem. It is probably a problem with Vodafone GPRS. I have contacted their tech support a couple of times about this. So far we have tried disabling/reenabling GPRS on my account and switching to new Sim-cards. None of this has worked so far.
I am using their twin cards service switching between different phones, I am not sure if this has anything to do with the problem.
best regards
Christofer
Thanks a lot for giving me this feedback. I'll talk to Vodafone right away.
Solution: I know that Telia supports the magican device because they have them for sale. My solution was to call Telia and tell them that I wanted to use them instead. Its a covards solution but Imate blames Vodafone and Vodafone blames Imate.
I have an old Qtek1010 on Telia, and it is behaving just like your Magician on Vodaphone. Sometimes I have to actually remove the SIM and put it back in again to be able to reconnect.
Another question about the Magician and GPRS. I have read on a couple of forums that the Magician will not keep the GPRS connection alive when in "sleep mode". Is this true? If so I may have to quickly cancel my order...

My gprs connection seems to stay connected ok even when the machine is switched "off". I have an imate jam on o2 in the UK.
I don't know if it stays on forever because i tend to log off gprs so i can go on line through bluetooth.
Simon
This is really bad news. I thought that since Telia do have thoose phones for sale they should have tested them in the net. In that case I should start thinking of going back to my old P800 instead of changing provider.
I Wonder if there are someone in here who it works for in sweden. Please let me know.
I have several collegues who are not experiencing these problems with Qtek devices on Vodafone network. So it does not seem to be a general problem.

I just talked to Telia today as my GPRS broke down totally and there was just nothing that would make it connect. The person I talked to was very helpful and professional and we managed to isolate the problem to my SIM card. Being a brand new SIM I received just two weeks ago I though that just anything but the SIM would be more probable. It was very evident though as my SIM would not work with GPRS in neither mine nor a colleauges phone but the colleauges SIM would work just fine in both.
My new SIM will arrive on monday, and then hopefully it will not be too long before my S100 arrives as well
Ok, thats somewhat god news. Then there is hope to accually use this expensive piece of toy as it is suppose to.
Some input…
I have a Qtek S100 and run it with Telia. Works just fine, never have to reset or remove the SIM. However, I have problem with the GPRS to disconnect when synchronized with my PC and when using the phone. Have heard that an app called GPRS Keep Alive would solve that problem, haven’t tried it yet.

It will not. For two reasons:
1. There can only be one network connection at a time, and the activesync connection counts as a network connection (you can use network passthrough to use the activesync connection for network access from the PPC).
2. You can not have a GSM voice connection and an active GPRS connection simultaneously because they share the same radio hardware. Simultaneous GPRS and Voice would need two radios in the phone, and although it has been part of the GSM specification for quite some time there are no such device available on the consumer market yet.
Hi i don't succeed to connect anymore because after the attemps of hookup the line it send this error message : The modem for the answer is disconnected. Please help me
I would not like to have to proceed with an hard reset to avoid to lose all the formulations. Thanks
Nobody can help me ? Thanks
Well i dont know if this helps, but i had the same problem. Connection to the internet didnt worked probably and the modem arent available.
So i called O2 and asked if the service may be down but it wasnt their fault. I had top hard reset my device and it worked after that again. Yes i loosed all my software etc. but the modem vent back. So i didnt need to send it in for repairing. After I changed my ROM to iMate i never had this issue again (previous ROM O2 Shipping...).
I only can recommend to backup all what you need and do the hard reset, it will help.
Sorry for no better solution, but i guess you want your GPRS/UMTS/G3 Modem back to work
Greetings,
Falk

Could you please post the "Entire" error message your connection buble produces to verify your issue? Meaning ... try to connect to your isp and then if it fails the buble shows a error message at top of your device.
Thanks.

Yes it try to connect at my isp and then it disconnect and at top of the device : Impossible to connect : The modem for the answer is disconnected !!! Thanks
I suppose you are trying to connect with a clean device (after hardware reset). For me it sounds that your modem is not proberly installed and the software having trouble to bind the modem. If you are using the original ROM i would suggest to change the device with your ISP, depending how old it is. If you dont get the device changed, try another ROM (iMate i suggest for you). More help i cant provide because my problem vent away after the hardware reset. :?
Please tell us the ROM, the operator you're using, and the APN.
This happens usually for a mis-configuration problem... and for Italians using TIM it happens when you config MMS after a successful internet configuration.
The MMS provider becomes the default internet provider and the APN are difefrent
Look at the message"connecting to ........." ? what?

*sergiopi: it would be good if you guys compare the settings to reduce any misconfigurations as long you both have the same provider. Maybe a good Idea would be to post your settings in here, so deika95 could compare it to his settings, no :?:

Hi Sergiopi, no i think that is an operator problem but it's strange because until yesterday it has worked. My operator is TRE and the apn is tre.it I try to connect directly from the formulations of connection. But the strange thing it's that with other operators it works fine !!!!
sounds like a misconfiguration problem, no need to exchange your device for that, just configure the right settings for your operator.

I agree but there is something much better: I-Mate develop a multi-operator self configuration .cab only for Italy. Just install it, drop the sim in the socket, turn it on and....
Works only with I-mate IMEI's
Other are quite easy to config
As an example: with TIM just insert ibox.tin.it as APN in My ISP configuration and select GPRS UMTS as carrier...

I recommend you to read the Hermes wiki before u start:

Read at least the hermes for beginners and upgrading FAQs.

However I don't want to change rom to avoid to lose the guarantee. To this point I believe that i have to bring it in assistance. However it's very strange that with TIM and WIND it works while with TRE it doesn't go. I have also asked if the parameters of connection were changed but they have told me that the apn is always tre.it
If you send to the service center and you say: "It works with TIM and WIND and isn't working with TRE..." this will be the first face and the second will be
Be sure: if works with TIM and WIND ISN'T a TyTN technical problem!

Hi
I am using my O2 Neo (prophet) for past few months. Now suddenly the GSM signal is on searching mode. (The tower sign is like Y.... with moving dots) I can't get a signal on the phone and no calls and sms but all other PDA functions are working fine.
Could you please help on fixing it. I did the resettings by loading the OS too.
Thanks
RABIMS
What could be the problem with O2 Neo. The signal keeps on searching while the same SIM is working with another mobile.
Please Help on identifying the problem and solution...

I have the same problem here but with the orange SPV M600, i have tried different sim cards on different networks and vodafone worked, i have a feeling that it is a problem with the radio rom.

Hi, anyone have the china mobile cab? I install the official wm6 upgrade but find out can't access the mobile.
Search the whole day but cant find it.
Thnx in advance
You don't need a cab for these settings, they are really simple. tap:
start>settings>connections>connection>add a new connection
call it CMNET, line type=3G/GPRS
username=CMNET
password=CMNET
finished! Make sure you have the M-Zone data package on your phone, 20RMB for 50mb/month. In some places you can get 200MB for 100RMB, ask your China Mobile office.

Radio 1.47.30.10 is recommend in China mainland,
It has good reception and consumption of power.
If your SIM card is too old you have two choices:
1.Change your SIM card in CMCC, it's charge free;
2.Use Radio 1.41 or lower version.

兄弟,中国人啊,做什么的啊,好象是移动的啊,多普达的吗 有多普达的资料吗
Cheers ,we all Chinese.
hey sorry to bring up an old thread but something is driving me nuts. I have a HTC Touch Cruise 2009/ Iolite and I am in China using China Mobile. A few days ago I was still able to use GPRS but then suddenly I can't... just says "The answering modem has disconnected" after like about 1 seconds of trying to connect then "There is a problem connecting to the GPRS in your registered home network"... I have searched online and applied the settings and rang CM and they sent me an SMS with the instructions but still don't work.
I was using a 5RMB package and when that ran out i upgraded to 20RMB but it said that it will be applied when my monthly fee gets deducted. I think that's around the time when things started to go downhill.... any solutions please! Thanks
