Orange works Vodafone doesn't! Unlocked with Manipulator

Hi everyone. Great programme thanks but can anyone tell me why my Vodafone contract SIM won't work? I get a signal fine, It detects the Vodafone network fine. But every call drops before connection with Unable to Place Call message. Also will not take incoming calls. My Orange Pay as You Go SIM now works fine... and it has definitely unlocked as only O2 worked before. But I need Vodafone SIM to work.
The Vodafone SIM still works in all other handsets. I have also checked with Vodafone and they say there is no reason why the SIM should not work in un unlocked XDA. There are no calls barred on the account.
Is it a setting I have wrong? Or something I did wrong in the unlocking process? Many thanks for anyone's help.

Hi mate,
I have used the unlocked 64 mb xda with vodaphone with no problems. My rom was 3.16 and radiostack 4.20 and it wasn't any problem. Now I have upgraded to the good old xda rom from Jeff's kitchen and new radio stack from O2. I suggest you do the same and it will problably work better.

I would wait a day before trying anything else, the phone is obviously unlocked to both 900 and 1800 mhz networks. I have had experience with Vodafone and T Mobile and Virgin recently where no calls could be placed for many hours, next day everything was normal, some kind of network problem. Have you tried the sms using the Voda sim, also what message does a caller get when trying to call you if you have the Voda sim inserted.

One more thing, I think it says somewhere that if you upgrade the radio stack to 4.21 then the unlock no longer works, so it would be better to get this solved before you upgrade the stack.

Thanks for your suggestions guys. But the Voda SIM works fine in my other phones and I have just tried it again in the XDA and same thing happens. Unable To Place Call. So it's not the network.
When I try to dial in to the Voda SIM on XDA I just hear a long tone...dead. It is a very early XDA. Don't know if that makes a difference.
Any help gratefully received as running out of ideas. Is there a manufacturer that may be able to help? But then they probably know less than you. I doubt if O2 will want to!

Have you tried manually setting the network under settings/phone/network, try choosing that and see what happens.

I have yes.
It's detecting Vodafone network fine. Just no calls. It's almost as if there's a call bar on though Voda tell me there isn't and it works in all other handsets.

One other thing, is that a very old sim card? Have you tried another voda sim in the xda, I remember having strange problems with some phones with the earlier sim cards, dont know the difference between them though.

Hi there, thanks. It doesn't work on any Vodafone SIMS. But all other networks. Vodafone say they don't know anything about the XDA and it must be a hardware fault..
Could it be that it is not unlocked "properly"? Should I run manipulator again? Think may have to give up on this one.

A few problems

Hi guys, great forums, have learnt so much in past few days.
I have an m5000 but i'd like to use it on o2. So reflashed with aku3.2 beta8 and inserted o2 sim.
I now need the o2 settings if anyone would be kind enough to give them me, can't seem to get 3g on o2 either, where as my orange sim instantly displays "U" when it turns on.
That's the only major problem at the moment....

a simple google search will get you the settings
what i had to do to get my 3g working, was use a 3g sim card. I couldn't use my old O2 sim, so i had to activate the 3G one that came with my exec.

Atom Problem :( Please Help.

Hi mates 2 days before i bought a used Atom.
i have 4 sims of different Network Providers
1) Mobilink
2) Telenor
3) WaridTelecom
4) Ufone
I belong to pakistan.
i test all the sims. all are working fine. but The 4th (Ufone ) is having problem with signal. everytime it says, phone not ready. and sometimes, Insert simcard. or something like that.
Before one day. Ufone is working fine. and i also used GPRS. and now. there is a cross on the gprs icon, and also no signels. i have another siemens mobile. and its giving full signal. for this sim.
so is this a hardware or software problem?
only one network is not working. All other Are working just fine.
Please suggest me..

What's your current rom version?
did this provider work in a previous rom?
do you really need 4 sim cards?
How could this be a hardware problem?
My suggestion is, dont use that provider if you have three others to choose from!

Is your SIM card fitting in properly? Test with a different Ufone SIM and see if you get the same error. This will confirm if the problem was with your SIM or the carrier0device relationship

actually i have 4 sims. but ata time i only use 1 . but i have 2 mobiles
anyways. now ufone is working fine. but no gprs.
and before. its not working fine.
if i will reset my mobile. then again it will happen. (no signals) and all the time its searching for signals.
i am using. jiggs wm5 3.3.3a-final. rom. which is WM5 but modified and having HTC home plugin also.
so i think maybe its a rom problem.
i think i have to go back to original rom. to test the problem again.
or you suggest me which rom is still the best with less bugs. and more stable.

Why is it so many ppl ask support for service provider Sim Cards? speak to you service provider, sorry we cannot help you!

try auto configuration for ur sim card..and then soft reset..go in settings..u may find there auto configuration..or hard reset ur device by keeping backup..

SIM Access ORBIT 2 lock

Hello, i have a big problem regarding a ORBIT2 from O2. The guys at O2 dont understand my problem , so i hope as the last hope you can help me. As you know the Orbit2 is the same as HTC cruise, o2 has no sim-lock here in germany. I use a sim-card from another telephone company and all works fine. I have problems with the sim-access profile. In my car i have a Nokia 616 Bluetooth hands free unit built in which supports sim- access profile. If i try to establish a connection between the orbit2 and my in car unit it works to the point as they handle out the password. After i confirm the given password from the handsfree device it tells me that the simcard i not valid. Is in the orbit 2 a lock on the bluetooth sim access profile which means that only o2 Simcards are allowed for the Sim access ? Can you please help me, because here is no one which understands my problem. Maybe i can have another firmware to solve the problem,the phone itself is simlock-free.
I dont understand why it is only possible with o2-sim cards to have the sim access functionality.
Can anybody help me?

Sorry I don't have an answer to your problem; I understand car kits using SAP are quite new.
Could you tell me how well it works with other phones in general, and how much you paid?
I understand the SAP system means the car kit has it's own "phone" but accesses your SIM card to connect to the network?

it works great!
You turn on your ignition key and the car kit start opening the connection to your cellular phone in your pocket without any touch of a button ect...
After your drive, you switch of the motor and the car unit disconnects the connection and give the cellular phone its function back.
A great thing, but believe me iam so disappointed that my new Orbit from O2 rejects my simcard but only in combination to my car hands free unit....

interesting. So just to be clear you tried
1) o2 sim in orbit II - sim access works fine
2) other net sim in orbit II- sim access not work?
if that's the case you could try flashing a new rom, but I would suggest u wait a bit. Maybe check in the kaiser (o2 stellar) forum, for same prob and how to resolve it.

check compatibility of your bluetooth car kit with Polaris seems to be ok

ORBIT2 O2 Lock on SIM ACCESS

i have meanwhile a little more what i have checked out.
Yesterday i took all sim-cards which have been in nearby range and what a big surprise all worked fine.
I tried prepaid cards of Vodafone, T-Mobile, and E-PLus and a contract card of E-Plus.
The only simcard which was rejected during the try of connect to the bluetooth devise is my own BASE-SIM-CARD .
BASE is by the why part of EPLUS company thats the FLATRATE PART of EPLUS.
After i tested all, i called my friend which has also an BASE contract and what another big surprise his card also didn`t work.
After all brainstorming it seems that only that BASE-cards were declined.
Next step is to find out what the differences are between all cards and the BASE sim card is. Maybe UMTS and normal GSM????
Maybe a protocol problem, because in my E51 from Nokia all cards also the BASE-CARDS works fine.

Wolf, I would suggest trying BASE related forums, as the same issue might happen with other handsets.
You might also try phoning BASE, tell them your problem, and asking if they have another type of SIM card you can try, even if you have to pay €10.

i wanna update my investigations.
It works with normal GSM cards (like my old prepaid) but not with the new UMTS cards.
And my provider only has that new UMTS cards.
Maybe i can remove the program in my Phone which is in charge for the SIM-ACCESS Profile and replace it to another version ??????

it would be difficult to get an old simcard, cause all provider deliver as new card so called USIM Card, most times with 72k Size. Try to get a blank E-Plus Simcard in an phoneshop and call the hotline, ask them for a sim card change and tell them you have a blank simcard you can use (dont tell its an eplus sim card) the cant check it, they will reaktivate your simcard with your base number without questions only minor change... in the phone your provider will be stated as E-Plus cause its programmed in your simcard.

Hello Wolf,
i have the same problem with my new Touch Cruise and my Nokia 616. I tried several Sims´s the last 2 days. One Vodafone (UMTS), one normal O2 (UMTS), one O2-Multicard (UMTS) and one old E-Plus (GSM).
The E-Plus Sim was the only one wich operated normally in SAP-Mode. The other Sim-Cards hanged by connecting after pairing. After turning the igniton off and on, this cards asked for the PIN but they didn´t find a network.
Have you tried another Firmware likes Bepes???

Urgent Help needed with SIM not working on O2 Atom Life

Dear Community,
I need some help urgently in fixing up a problem which is very weird and has come up since last night.I have an O2 Atom Life with WM6 installed.The WM6 is the same which was given free of cost by O2 as a part of their service contract.Till yesterday things were fine.After yesterday i am repeatedly getting no service on my Vodafone SIM.I tried restarting it n number of times with no avail.Then i replaced my SIM with another SIM of a different service provider which works perfectly fine.The next step was to put my SIM on a different handset and this also works perfect??
I have replaced my SIM wityh a new SIM from vodafone to eliminate the possibility of a corrupt SIM but that has also not heped my cause.I feel there is some software issue for which i need help from someone.,It is strange that only when it comes to my SIM my mobile throws a "no Service" message......

It seems that your simcard not compatible with that ROM. My suggestion is, you revert back to your original ROM
