Contact mismatch between outlook and qtek2020?? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

I have a Qtek 2020, and i just finished writing ca. 250 contacts in my Ms Outlook with all the information i need - BUT
Ive noticed, that Ms Outlook automatically formats a phone number to be i.e. +45 60 30 20 10 and not +4560302010.
Doing this, my Qtek does not recognize the phonenumber when i synced my contacts with the Qtek, and therefore i can see the number on the phone, but it does not link with the contact information???
I have tried to adjust it manually in the phone, deleting the spaces in the phonenumber, but it just goes back to normal, when i sync my contacts again.
I have ROM 1.60.00WE and radio version 1.06.01 on a qtek 2020.
Anyone who knows a solution ?
Thank you

i had that issue at one point i changed them on the xda
and set activesync to replace anything which were not the same
as the pocketpc that solved it

New Here - Sync Problems?

Hi guys, I just got my XDA II on Friday so thought I would join here as I have my first query! I got the ActiveSync software all set-up and tried to copy all my Outlook contacts over to the XDA. All its done it delete from Outlook all my contacts that had more than a phone number, i.e. e-mail address and street address and add the ones left (32 of 75) to the XDA II. Basically I have only now got contacts that only had a phone number in Outlook. Any contact with more info that a phone number is now gone! I need to restore from a backup but how can I stop this happening again. Is it me setting it up wrong or a bug? Why did it not just copy all the data like Street Address and e-mail address over to the XDA II? Oh and by the way, does Outlook on the PC need to be open to sync? Mine crashes if not!
Thanks guys,
Westwood
well in activesync there is an option where you deside if the pda should just update to what outlook looks like or if outlook should just update so match the xda or if it should merge how it's don
some people have issues with the mergeing
try setting it to make the xda like outlook and see if that helps
i never start outlook before syncing maybe you set something odd up in the activesync or maybe your install of outlook or activesync have gon funky

outlook 2003 problems

hello all,
anybody using outlook 2003 yet? i'm having problems synching my contacts properly...seems that there is proper synching but when you use your device, some categories are missing, some contacts don't display the same info as in outlook, etc.
so i'm wondering, is it outlook 2003 or should i hard-reset my device(which i'm not too keen on doing)?
any feedback i will greatly appreciate
Thanks,
bree
Hey
Ive used Outlook 2003 ever since I got my XDA 2 so i'm not terribly sure what the syncronisation of contacts was like in previous versions.
To put it simply, if I get some info I want to add as a new contact, I usually wait until I go home and just put the info on the phone temporarily as a note. Many fields are missing, like "other telephone number" and proper formatting of the 'display name' is not possible directly off the phone... e.g. If I save a new contact on the phone as "Tom Smith", im stuck with it being saved as "Smith, Tom" until I open Outlook 2003 to change the display name there.
Also confusing, but not really a problem anymore is Business in Outlook is called Work on the phone... e.g. 'Work Telephone'.
I havent noticed any other problems, except that Outlook 2003 only synchronises the main e-mail inbox even though the phone will display empty folders for everything else such as sent items and custom inboxes.
Unless you're having some sort of other problem you wouldn't get any improvement from a hard reset. Let me know if what you're experiencing is different/worse.

Had the same problem with name being swapped around to Surname, Forename but found a solution! When creating a new contact on the phone click the down arrow next to the name field and enter the whole name in the Last Name field. This will then save the contact in the format Forename Surname. The contact will also be saved correctly in Outlook 2003 unless you specifically want Surname,Forename formatting.

ey, thanks for the replies guys, as for the above situation, you can go to the mail options section in activesync then check the appropriate boxes for folders you want to sync.

ActiveSync does NOT do all contacts!

Need some help here please guys! ActiveSync does not sync all my contacts between Outlook 2003 and my M5000.
I've tried starting the Sync from both the PC and the M5000 but it says there are no changes. I have 130 contacts on my PC and only 114 on my M5000. I've tried the three latest official and unofficial builds of ActiveSync including the new official one that came out yesterday. I've tried:
1. Editing the contacts on the PC to see if the M5000 picks up the changes - NO
2. Deleting the offending contact on the PC and creating them again - Finds it on the first sync but not again after
3. Creating the contact on the M5000 - Same as above, finds it on the first sync but not if I edit it later.
Plus, it doesn't sync notes on contacts - Is there any way around this as it's a function I could really really do with!
Is anyone else having similar problems?? Can anyone else Sync their notes?
Most importantly, anyone know how to fix it or get around it as this is a major problem for me as I simply don't trust it now!?!?
TIA
Have you tried AS 4.1 (you must uninstall AS 4.0 first): http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/activesync41.mspx
Yes - I'm currently running 4.1.4841 and I have tried the two versions before that (I uninstalled/rebooted each time before trying different versions)
Right... I've removed and reinstalled Outlook 2003 and ActiveSync 4.1.481 and I've sorted it now! The contacts that did not Sync all had either photos or notes so they wouldn't sync - Don't know if this is normal or not but definitely the case here!
I've now deleted the notes and photos where necessary and everythings syncs nicely now.
Note: I've still got my old SPV C500 here and have found the following:
Contacts with no notes = Syncs on C500 AND M5000
Contacts with notes = Syncs on C500 but NOT M5000
Contacts with photos = Syncs on C500 but NOT M5000
If I make a new contact on my M5000 and add notes it syncs fine with the PC the fisrt time but not after I edit it on the PC.
Easy!
I have posted the question on the Microsoft commuities forum:

No-one there seems to have a clue either!!!!!!!!!!

Sync outlook 2003 with Tytn (Hermes?)

Hi,
running winxp pro sp2 with Active sync 4.2 and Intellisync 5.5 (trial)
I would love some help as to the best way to sync from Outlook to My orange SPV M3100 as I am having no end of problems.
The reason that I feel I need Intellisync is that I have several different contacts folders in Outlook, which all need to end up on my SPV. Activesync does not seem to allow this.
1) is there a better programme than Intellisync for multi outlook contact files, as although I realised this is a trial, it keeps hanging when updating (on record 39 of 5300)? - I did manage to get it to do the first sync, but can no longer update...I don't feel pre-disposed to pay for it, if I cannot get it to work.
2) Is there a way to delete all the contacts on my spv in one go..without doing a hard reset? What is the file name that holds the contacts?
3) Where did the "backup" function go on Activesync?..There used to be a way of doing a back-up of the phone that could reinstall everthing the way it was pre a hard reset.
many thanks.

Can't sync appointments - everything else OK

My Qtek 9100 is set up to sync with Exchange on SBS 2003 R2.
Installed Self Certified Certificate (eventually) no problem, the device syncs via USB, Wi-Fi, GPRS, haven't tried Bluetooth. All services work OK except Appointments, are not syncing, so get 'no upcoming appointments' indication.
I have deleted partnerships from the phone and Windows Mobile Device Center (on Vista Business), have removed and reinstalled SSL certificate on the server, PC and Qtek 9100. I have soft and hard reset device.
Each time the partnership is set up and Activesync runs I can see all the categories uploading - email, contacts, tasks and calendar/appointments (as set up during partnership installation). As the sync progresses I see the total number of items for each category clocking up, then processing, then clocking further, etc until finished. However, when it comes to the calendar/appointments section it indicates how many items there are to sync, but I don't see the counter clocking up how many it has processed and at the end of the sync there are no appointments displayed.
Further to this, if I make a new appointment on the Qtek 9100 it appears on the Outlook calendar. If I delete the item from the calendar it is deleted from the Qtek 9100. If I make a new appointment in Outlook it doesn't appear on the Qtek 9100.
Can anyone help me - I really can't work out what is going on.
Thanks,
Richard Pimple
Found the solution
On inspecting the event logs on the server (SBS2003 R2) I found an error with IIS, possible related to security settings - solution is to delete several virtual directories, let the server rebuild them and reconfigure access- see this Microsoft KB article:

See ya,
Richard Pimple
