Haicom GPS on XDQA II - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

hi,
just to know if I can use my GPS receiver (Haicom 203e - used with my old XDA I) with my new XDA II
thanks
marco

If it is a CF version, yes, but you will need the CF expansion pak for the XDA II, unfortunately you will probably need an external antenna sonce the CF expansion pak is upside down due to the camera placement.
If it is a serial version it will also work with the proper cable.

hi,
thanks for your reply ...
it's a serial version, but i wanted to know if i need to change the cable or not (i mean: is the layout of the pin the same
?)
ciao
marco

Yes, it's the same...
@GuardianZX9:
The XDA 1 (or 2 for that matter) don't have CF slots...

Backpack & BC-307 CF GPS Reciver

Hi to you all
I have just got my backpack and a BC-307 gps reciver
I have the backpack working fine but when i insert the CF GPS card
the xda displays a message saying
UNRECOGNIZED CARD
and my tomtom can not find the card any help ???
Thanks in advance
Does the GPS card come wit a software driver and have you installed it?
it only had a driver for the pc (that works ok )
on there website it says that you dont need a driver for the PDA you just plug it in
I use an Ambicom CF GPS with my XDAII+Backpack and it works fine. Make a full backup and try a hard-reset.

Tryed doing the hard reset bit
no good
i also upgraded the rom to the newO2 on e
still the same problem
check if your backpack battery in your power setting comes on and off... and your backpack is losing connection.
if it is, like mine, go back to your store for a swap, i will be doing so tomorrw
oh well...
Have you loaded the gps test program that comes with that cf card, it should present itself to tomtom as cf generic.
I also am having the same problem with unrecognised card message
Have installed the GPS info software that came with it but this doesn't help, i've tried all the Com ports
I think it's a wm2003 problem and there's just no driver for wm2003 been released by GlobalSat yet
Anyone confirm this, or better still have a hacked driver which will work?
I have had to sell my GPS CF Card
as it will not work with the XDA II
I have had a long emial chat with GlobalSat and they
have not yet had a chace to try it witha a XDA II
hope this helps
Use pocketmechanic and rename SD "storage card" to "secure digital", make soft reset and try it another time.
I use a BC-307 with my Ipaq 2210 running pocket pc 2003 premium with no problems at all, i just tell Tom Tom its a generic card and it works perfectly,
I have also got a Fortuna GpsSmart (bluetooth one with a screen) and this works perfectly with my XDA II and my Ipaq 2210
Mosser,
You didn't need to load any drivers on at all?
Did the unregonised card message still pop up and you just ignored it?
Any further details would be helpful,
Cheers
backpack and bc-307
See I had same prob bc-307 gps working laptop not on xda, casing makes in posible to put reciever right way up.no choice unscrewed turned over connector sorted over heating prob that makes it cut out dut to battery near heatsink hey presto works fine.

XDA 2 + Roadangel (GPS) + TOM TOM 2

i use to have an XDA before and still have the serial cable, will i be able to use this with the XDA 2 or are the leads ment to be different.
from the roadangel to the XDA 2 i am planning to use the serial cable. with a gender changer.
the roadangel will output data both at 9600bps, 4800bps, any idea which i should select?
thanx!
Holux produce a cable which powers the Road Angel and XDA2 from a single power source, it also connects the RA to the XDA for sending GPS data.
It costs about £25, I use it with Tomtom and it works a treat.
Good luck
The serial cable should work ok with xda1 and xda2.
Oops, sorry missed a bit from my earlier post. Even though the serial cable works with the xda1 and xda2 for connecting to a PC, it doesn't work connecting to the Road Angel on it's own. Not only do you need a gender changer, you also need a null modem cable as well - when it's all connected together you end up with a mesh of cables on your dashboard which just looks a mess and if you are really lucky it might even work.
I must confess I tried all the various cable combinations as described above and didn't end up with any joy, I then contacted Holux - their cable worked straight out of the box. The one thing I would recommend if you decided to go with the Holux solution is to specify the cable lengths to them when ordering as different lengths are required for different cars, I was lucky as the default length worked OK for me but I’m sure this won’t be the same for everyone.
Just for information – I believe Holux actually manufacture the GPS within the Road Angel, hence this is why they produce the cable.
As before – Good Luck
excellent m8 have you got any source for Holux or is it a guy / wesbite / company?
and the model of the lead will do pls
you have been a great help m8!
YOU ARE THE DON, thanx m8, ive found it!

mini-usb to external drive ?

Hello everyone....
While reading a review about toshiba g900 i noted that it was possible to hook up the unit to a usb flash drive or an external usb hard disk unit using the mini-usb port...
Is that possible on the i-mate , using an appropriate cable and software ?? is it natively supported ??
not on wizard( vide google: host usb).
host usb is what sad devices are lacking(besides overall power) novadays.
was used sometimes in golden era of PPC's.
i mean is that possible on i-mate kjam aka wizard or any imate device for that matter

No, it is not possible since the unit does not have the required hardware for it
Hmmm... One extra reason to get that toshiba i guess .. ... If only there was a toshiba-developers forum LOL ... BTW is there any HTC device with the mentioned host USB capability ??

[Q] backpack CF doesnt work

Please help!
I bought a backpack I-Mate CF (with 600 mAh + VGA) for the empowerment of PDA. But when you turn on the program to work with a VGA-devices, PDA itself starts very slow, even without connecting the CF rucksack. (especially when connected to a monitor)
Version of the PDA. WM2003. The software CD CF Backpack ver. 1,2 Feb.2004. Perhaps it was intended for this version of WM2003? If yes, where can I get the new version?
Thanks in advance.

The backpack does not change the resolution of the device.(Still qvga- 320x240). It just gives you the possibility to connect it to a vga monitor!
There are no other drivers, than the original. No vga- version for newer OSs like WM5/6.X!!!

muckelmaus, I incorrectly explained, the system WM2003 begins to slow down after running the program, even without connecting backpack.

I think it slows down because vision is beign processed to handle backpack, even when it's not connected. Try to find the driver (maybe look at .cab file with driver to find out file name) and rename it to something like driver.dll.backup, use total commander to do that, and then reboot and test.
Thanks.
Where can I find driver.dll ..
In my PDA it is not.
