Hello,
I would like to share with you the great experience I had with my SGS II!
I bought a USB host cable on eBay for only 3€ (Hong Kong seller)

Here is a video presentation, and as you're going to see, it works with mouses
I don't have USB keyboard to try...

Enjoy!
Thanks for the tip, I have ordered two for myself

If you have a USB keybord, tell us if it works or not
USB keyboard works fine, but I can't change language on it. Can type only in english.
Is this supported on the stock ROM with the chainfire kernel?
Thanx

I have a odb2 engine monitoring program that i ran on a palm IIIc. The pda crapped out on me the other day. Is anyone willing/able to port this over to work on my HTC Hero?
The program itself has always been free as long as I can recall. The product that you bought was a cable with some sort of module on it so this shouldn't be a warez problem. If it is my apologies.
This is the download link:
http://www.ls1m.com/demo/LS1M_v1.7e.zip
There's an .exe in the zip that you run from the desktop to install to the pda.
This is the website:
http://www.ls1m.com/
I don't even know if it is possible, it would be amazing if it was though. LMK
Thanks!
No one? Don't be scared to tell me it can't be done if that is the case. Is there a better place to ask?

I'm guessing that the hardware in the cable does most of the heavy lifting. It looks to be a CAN to RS232 cable so the app would just have to deal with serial communications. Unfortunately, I don't think most androids have any kind of serial connection.
That's how I think it works too. Yes it is a serial cable, i was just hoping to use a serial to usb adaptor, then usb to mini usb cable. I'm a dumb dumb, so I don't know what it would take for android to handle it.
This is just something that I envisioned, I have no idea if it is a practical task or not.
Thanks for the input.

As far as I know, the android USB is "device" only. To use it with a RS232 adapter, you'd need a USB "host" device.
I have the solution to your woes. Check out the app called Torque on the market. My favorite app on android period. It can do everything your palm app can 10X. It uses a bluetootb odb2 adapter. They're 26 bucks on ebay. I use the program on my S2000 for datalogging and its a godsend. Buy the paid version, the developer responds to requests and is constantly updating the program.

so I have to restart every time I want to access a usb drive ?
I thought they might have automounted etc.
I have'nt tried a digital camera yet , but , if I connect my usb drive then unplug it , i have to restart to be able to connect my digital cam ? , does'nt sound good ...
I am having similar issues. I can plug a drive/ stick in 3 times at the most. Then I HAVE to reboot for the xoom to see anything else. I hope someone fixes the issue. Friend of mine is having the same issues. Use brd method of updating and rooting. 3g model
P.s. USB mice and keyboards are not affected. Just drives/ sticks with data.

Hey guys, I tried out an experiment with the galaxy note here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3j34BlV8acA&lc
It involved the control of the device using a standard PC wireless mouse from 20 feet away. I just wanted to see if there was anyone in this forum that could try the same thing to see if works on the galaxy S3. It would me much appreciated as it would give me an insight into the drivers in the S3. (The S2 fails this same experiment)
Cheers! :highfive:
working
i'm using apple's magic mouse and its really working like charm on my S3
for connecting magic mouse i dont need any dongle it works directly with bluetooth of my handset.. and
its really osm i jsss loved it some times lol
I've just plugged my wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse into the S3 via a USB-OTG cable and both worked flawlessly :good:
For info, i'm running the XXDLI6 leaked JB rom.
Yeah. Been using various wireless keyboards for a while now

Does anyone know of an app that can recognise a multi buttoned mouse? I have a logitech gaming mouse that works to an extent but most of the buttons just go back in all apps.
It'd be great if there was some way of making them work different functions of the phone. Turn it into more of a PC when it's hooked up to a tv.
Hey bro. Tapatalk brought this to you.
I tested my Thinkpad Bluetooth Mouse on my Galaxy SIII and it works fine.
am using this for some weeks and its working good with my logitech wireless keyboard and mouse
Cheers! The S3 side of town seems friendly

That's what I was looking for. Via USB and not bluetooth. You just got your first thanks
works like a charm
microsoft wireless multimedia kdb + ms wireless mouse set works fine simultaneously 20 m no problem
S3 with JKELK4 OTG-USB + USB Hub
Razer Mouse + Razer Keybord works 1A
Microsoft Mouse + Keyboard too (wireless)
USB-Sticks too but only FAT
and ipod works too
Hey guys,
I have also the Galaxy S3 and it works fine connected with keyboard & mouse over OTG cable. I can also play with it (Modern Combat), but the problem is, that the mouse is like my finger. When i draw the mouse to the left or to the right it does not work, it works only if I click with the mouse the control pannel of the game. I would like to play like on PC. On PC it's so, that if you draw the mouse to the left, your view is changing to the left.
I hope you understand, my English skills are not the best..
Maybe this is a dumb question, but what is the launcher is he using?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I am using the standard launcher from CyanogenMod 10, I think it's called Trebuchet. But does this really matter?
You understood? I mean playing like an ego-shooter on PC. On the S3 the mouse is like / replaces my finger.
Thanks!

Before I start, I don't believe this belongs in the Accessories category because it is a software/development question.
I have a standard OTG cable, bought it for my Evo 3d and it works fine. Plugging it into my new Nexus 10 (Unlocked and rooted of course) I got the pleasant surprise that it provides enough power from the tablet alone to power most USB devices (even my 2.5" hard drive!). Now, when I used the OTG cable on my Evo 3d, I was able to plug in my Logitech unifying receiver and connect my mouse and keyboard with no setup required (keyboard just works, mouse shows a cursor). With the Nexus 10, no such luck.
I was able to download the USB Host Diagnostics app from the Play Store, and I can see that it is recognizing the adapter no problem, but it is not loading input drivers or setting them to be input devices.
Dmesg from Evo 3d when plugging in OTG + Logitech receiver with mouse and keyboard: http://pastebin.com/kBbZEwXD
Dmesg from Nexus 10: http://pastebin.com/0yyFZK7u
Now, I know my cable works fine with the Nexus 10 because I can mount mass storage no problem.
I would love for someone with some more knowledge of USB host mode to maybe provide some feedback or support.
I'm more than happy to provide any more information needed.
Thank you ahead of time.

Same problem here. I originally bought the combo for my Iconia, which had a full size USB port, but I couldn't get them working on the N10. My wired USB mouse and my DSLR camera both connect and work fine though...

I hope it ends up being something small and flash-able as a fix, instead of having to flash a completely new ROM. Either way thanks!
OK, I've got the Logitech Unifying support working... tested it with my keyboard and mouse... all good... it's a new kernel... I will upload it soon...

Logitech Unifying Adapter & Sony Xperia S
Hey guys,
I know I'm in the wrong section but I don't know if I ever can solve this problem:
I have a Sony Xperia S with the newest Jelly Bean .211 and this FW cannot identify my Logitech keyboard with a unifying 2.4GHz adapter. All keyboards and mouses with this adapter don't work. I see with USB Host Controller APP that the adapter is recognized with the right vendor and device id but the Xperia S does nothing. With ICS and GB we hadn't this problem. I think only the drivers are missing. I called the Sony support and they told me to do the same studip thing: factory reset, reflash the FW bla bla... :silly: But it's a FW related problem and so on I'm googling this since 2 months and i cannot find anything to solve this. And today I saw this thread. I hope anyone can tell me which files are needed to recognize my Logitech keyboard on USB OTG as a keyboard and to use it. I saw that this problem was solved for the Nexus 10 but only as a kernel and I need only the files or drivers.
Please help
Regards
Just curious , would this kernel help to make a Logitech steering wheel usable as well ?
Hi guys.

Fairly certain that I've read OTG isn't supported because of the hardware limitation.
On SM-T230NT works fine. It's a feature. On others version of Tab 4 I don't know.

I think the NT has a Qualcomm chipset which allows for OTG, and some other models do as well. Unfortunately, AFAIK, since the SM-T230 and SM-T230NU have a Marvell chipset, they cannot have OTG implemented
It works fine in SM-T235
I think it's strange because according to the docs about the PXA1088 marvel chipset, it should allow usb host.
