Fairly certain that I've read OTG isn't supported because of the hardware limitation.
On SM-T230NT works fine. It's a feature. On others version of Tab 4 I don't know.

I think the NT has a Qualcomm chipset which allows for OTG, and some other models do as well. Unfortunately, AFAIK, since the SM-T230 and SM-T230NU have a Marvell chipset, they cannot have OTG implemented
It works fine in SM-T235
I think it's strange because according to the docs about the PXA1088 marvel chipset, it should allow usb host.

(Almost) anything is possible with enough time and determination...
Has it been done already? Not to my knowledge.
'Theoretically' you should be able to get this working. Like Arrrghhh said, anything is possible. I did get a usb otg cable for the rhodium (well, not FOR the rhodium, but 'theoretically' it should work) and found that this function is supported in the specs for our processor chip.
There are drivers and a pretty good source of information here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480899
I never advanced past the point of realizing that while our phone 'probably' has the hardware to receive input from usb devices it cannot provide them with power to function. You seem to need to use an externally powered usb hub for those drivers to do you any good, and there really isn't anything On-The-Go about carrying around a usb hub and its power adapter! So it was at that point that I gave up. But, there is probably all the information you need in the thread I posted above to get you started.
Please post your findings if you have success/failure

That thread isn't talking about host mode, that thread is talking about transferring files via USB mass storage mode....
At any rate, I'm pretty sure the software simply supports it. Getting the hardware to talk properly is the hard part (again, as far as I understand it...)

No one ever got it working, I thought I made that perfectly clear...
I'm not sure what you need, again there's probably quite a bit of legwork that you'll need to do in order for it to talk on our devices. I don't think you can just "use" the LEO drivers in this case - however, adapting them might be a good place to start.

I thought I read somewhere that the TP2 can not provide power. You had to use a powered usb hub + device to have a chance at getting it working.
The downside being that you had all this stuff to haul around if you wanted to use an OTG cable.
View the last 2 pages for good information, ATM USB OTG DOES NOT WORK, but maybe (or propably) it is a software issue, which can be resolved...

I think the last Nexus devices were able to host USB drives such as usb sticks etc., so do you think that it will be possible with this one?
16gb would be more than enough for me if I only use it for rom, apps, pictures and music but 720p movies won't have enough place (maybe just 1 or 2).
Is USB host mode maybe available for nearly every device (maybe only after another kernel)?
And I read somewhere that it is possible to host usb drives with "Nexus Media Importer", but it is also possible to access them via ES File Explorer for example or maybe even with Play Movies / Play Music?
At the moment I use HTC Desire (smaller movies at ~1gbyte), slowly it's time for an upgrade and this would be a must-have for me otherwise I won't buy it atm...
Maybe with USB OTG I could buy only 8gb, that would be really nice because 50€ (65USD) for 8gb is really expensive :/
Thanks for (hopefully incoming) answers
+1
Planned to ask the same, but you opened a topic already
Also with this if anyone knows. Can you access a OTG source from a recovery like CWM or TWRP? That would make the 16GB meaningless.
Yes the Nexus 4 supports usb OTG (and you probably won't need a custom kernel for this)
Yes you can use ESFile explorer and run everything from your hard drive
I think latest TWRP offer OTG support but I'll probably never use it since you may "brick" your phone if the flash fail and not sure if otg is perfectly stable...

Thanks for the answer :good:
Is the USB drive automatically mounted?
And is the media on it displayed in medi player apps like Music or MX Player or do I have to click on each single file with ES file explorer to play it?

Where have you got this information?? I can say out the box OTG is not working. Anyone have any ideas yet?
Would it be possible to have a Nexus 4 case with a microSD slot that connected via USB OTG?
For me an attached normal USB Flash Drive (8GB) did not work. Even the light of the flash drive did not a single blink.
I am not sure if the Nexus 4 provides Voltage for usb devices.
Just to confirm, the Nexus 4 does not support USB OTG out of the box. Just tested it myself - works fine on the missus' Galaxy S2, but not on my Nexus 4.
I'm fairly certain that you still need to be rooted for it to work properly, as with the Nexus 7.

I'm curious, how much current does the HDD draw? Most full-size HDDs draw 5V 1A, don't know about 3.5 inchers but I've seen some with only one USB2.0 connector (500mA)

Xbox one S updated with windows 10 anniversary edition. Maybe the latest version.
I have 3 different android devices on android Nougat 7.1, working with all of them.

3. Nvidia Shield TV - Shield Experience Upgrade 5.2
And buttons are mapped correctly too. I have played some games and ppsspp with it.

Normally, the phone does not reboot anymore if you have a nougat rom installed, when you connect the controller. Or at least, that's what's mentioned in this thread.

Hi,
I am on Nougat Rom, as mentioned previously.
Initial support for wired xbox one (S) controller was added to xpad kernel driver in linux kernel 3.17.
Chinese Axon 7 Nougat B16 has kernel version 3.18.31 (dunno about USA or Euro versions),
So I theorize that restarts are being caused by kernel panic due to driver problems, but I am unable to check.
I any case xbox one S controller wired OTG is not possible without custom kernel(maybe?) on last years devices, as most of them are on 3.10.
Maybe wait for Google Pixel ).

Ravi
