problem with syncronizing !

has this error whenever i try to sync the 2nd time ...
have to restart and resync again

I've the same problem. It was all well until yesterday. My case is even worse than you. The error message appear every time and xda II disconnects itself. I can do any activesync right now.
Have tried soft reset, delete and recreate partnership. Don't really want to hard reset unless I have no choice.

I have found out that my problem was caused by installing a trial version of the CEBook Reader 3.5.
What I have done is restore from Xcopy, this copy was done before installing the software above, which works fine. Once I install the software, the problem comes back.
So be careful !

seems its a problem of networking.. If you are using a Proxy server, then specify that in your MS outlook settings. :?

GPRS Monitor

I cannot install GPRS Monitor from myO2 CD, it says i need to update my ROM, i did a corporate install btw
Anyone else had any probs?

Another forum member had this same problem when installing the ClearVuePDF Reader also supplied by o2 as part of the HTC application suite. He has the MDA, but flashed with the o2 Exec ROMs and then installed in Corporate mode.
From work we did together, it appears to be just the install program that was not validating his device. When I tried a hard-reset and Corporate mode install, I had no problems installing. However, its beginning to look as though a hard-reset does not totally clear the Exec's memory. In his case, I found all the individual files and registry settings needed for ClearVuePDF to run and he copied those to the device. Runs perfectly for him like that.
So I'm afraid you'll have to find somebody with the o2 version of GPSMonitor installed and get them to determine all the files/locations and registry-settings needed to get it to run. Unfortunately I don't have a GPRS connection or GPRSMonitor installed.
Just a thought. Have you yet tried a full o2 Personal mode install on your device? It just might be this action that puts 'something' in memory that is not cleared by a hard-reset, and that 'something' might be what the install program is looking for.

I did a basic install and I get the same error. Sorry, Not much help though.

Me too. The ClearVuew PDF reader is rubbish! Text misalighed all over - Adobe with pixel doubling is better than this.

Could one of you having a problem to install the o2 supplied GPRSMonitor, please try installing the attached .CAB after copying it to your device.
This CAB is extracted from the CD-ROM install program, so hopefully skips the validation stuff. With luck you might be able to get around the failed validation by installing from this CAB.
Note: Even if asked to install to Storage Card, the o2 supplied version (2.3.0 build 600) puts very little there, most goes into device memory. The current version 2.41 from spb will obey the instruction to install to SD-Card, but wasn't reliable when run from there - the monitoring part aborted four times in 10-minutes whilst I was playing with it.
Unfortunately, since I don't have the install problem, I can't test this install out.

Am I glad about that - I was in the midst of trying to locate all the files/registry entries needed for a manual install.
Perhaps I can go to bed now! :wink:

I can confirm this but with other files. After several hard resets (even with the clear storage icon), the pictures I had taken were still there.

Ouch! I didn't realsie it was as bad as that.
The situation is made worse by the backup program I'm using (Sunnysoft Backup Manager) not backing up all the data and settings. Neither does it perform a true restore - just merges the backup with what's there after the hard-reset.
Unfortunately, I'm used to HP's backup applet from the Jornada 928; which performed a total backup/flush restore. Are there any other applets for WM5/universal that really performs a full backup/restore?

Does anyone have this cab please? I have just bought a new O2 exec and am having the same problem with it saying my ROM version is too old!!

I am running my XDA EXEC in basic mode. When I tried copying the .cab file to my device and running it from there , still get the problem.
Any suggestions ?
I was running personal mode then switched to basic mode, could this cause the problem.

Cannot remove GPRS monotr app
I installed this file to test it out om M3000. Unfortuntely I cannot seem to uninstall it now! It doesnt show up in my Program list - How do you uninstall it?
I looked in the \\windows folder and removed all files and shoretcuts I could find, but its still showing up on my 'today' screen with an error.
Any ideas? The registry?

I was also getting the ROM version problem installing programs to my SD card on my O2 exec. Since I'd only just added the card and was running the basic installation, I did the following:
1) Hard reset
2) Personal Install
3) Re-install ActiveSync on PC
This did the trick. Thankfully I like the Personal install best anyway, but I don't know if that step was necessary.

Tried it. Still get the problem :-(

My mistake - I managed to install the Clearvue PDF program, not the GPRS monitor program. I'm still getting the ROM version error with the GPRS monitor program, but I've not tried the above download yet.

Anyone got any other ideas to fix this problem.
Shame O2 don't have an update to fix this problem on their website.

I've now tried the CAB posted above by astage and I can confirm it worked for me. Just copy the CAB to your device and then open it to start the install.

Can't remove/install programs!

Yesterday i tried to remove a program on my Qtek9000. But in the add/remove program, where
all installed programs are listed, was nothing! It was empty!
Then I tried to connect to the Computer but without success! An error Message appeared, "Can't
synchronize, please reconnect an try again!"
I can't even install a new program!
Please help me!

I am having similar problems. I have a list of installed programs in the uninstall list. However, whenever I install new softwares, they are not shown in the uninstall list, thus I cannot uninstall any new softwares. Anyone knows what happens?

...your not using phoneAlarm are you?
This is a documented issue with a previous version and is fixed in the latest release.

Yes PhoneAlarm is an issue and does prevent installed programs to show up in the list of installed programs. If you cannot live without PhoneAlarm (Like Myself) then you have two options:
You can install SKTools. The uninstallation utility in SKTools will still show the list of installed programs even if it is not shown in the generic Windows utility.
The other option involves changing the registry. You will need a registry editor like Resco. The procedure is as follows:
1) go to..
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\AppInstall\
2) Select the application directory that is not showing up in the list
3) change the DWORD Role data from 40 to 24
4) Now the application will show up in the list.

I have never installed PhoneAlarm, and I forget starting from when this problem appears.
Also thanks matt1971 for rasing the possible reason leading to the problem. You guys are great !!

I now have the same problem - I can't install programs (get a message saying installation was unsuccseful), and when I try to remove programs there are none at all in the list.
All I've done today is install sbp Weather.
All programs work fine, but I also can't change Today Theme - it seems to be stuck on default.
Anyone able to help?

yes I have the exact same issue...this post is about not being able to sync, install, or uninstall anything....while srmz's post was informational, it didn't help those of us who has this problem...

U shld try M$ As 4.5 version sometimes it happens dat ur device doesn't show u the complete list of prog. installed but with Async it will show u ,from which u can uninstall the prog u want to.

Hi, since this monday I have a Xda Neo PcPocket.So I put a lot of fun pics, music and all stuff, but I don`t know yet how can I install a programm.I searched on the web, but I didn`t found anything.Please help me, I`have already installed Active Sync , everything is working properly, but I wanna know how to install a new programm.For example , I have a German English dictionary for PPC Xda Neo, but it doesn`t make any sence.Please help me . Tell me what I have to do to install new programmes.

They vary, some you install on your PC while your phone is docked with ActiveSync. What happens in this case is that the installer uses ActiveSync to then install the app on your device. This seems to be the most common in my exprerience.
Sometimes you will just have a cab file that you copy straight to your device and tap on it in FileExplorer.

Poket outlook problem

Hi to all,
i have a prob with poket outlook on my tytn ( rom ver. 1.18.258.2 wm5 5.1.195 build 14955.2.3.0 hermes 200 ).
Poket outlook is not working at all , no mail , no sms , no mms . in some case the program doesn't start , in some it try start but freeze or cause device to hang or other program to response slowly .
It seem to not receive sms ( no notify in the upper bar of the device ) .
I tried the hard reset but still the same prob.
The sim work properly
The other programs on the device are working properly .
Also done a scan with an antivirus ( mobile F-secure )
I found this problem after tryng installing tom tom ...
Please HELP!!!!

Me too, the shortcut doesnt launch mail app, cannot send sms or access email.
For me personally i think its something to do with sktools or memmaid cleaning something it shouldnt have, or i've recently installed ilauncher

Messaging Glitch - FIX
I have had similar problems to this and found it was due to the Pocket Outlook database being corrupt. Please look up my post in the following thread:

It has an attachment called cleanmail.zip that will completely recreate your Pocket Outlook database. Extract the .CAB file and copy to your phone and run by clicking on it in File Explorer.
I hope this works for you.

i found the one called cleanmail 2.06.exe only , not sure if it's the same but
not working for me ... can't open outlook or sometimes it start open and freeze.

Someone know what files are involved in this problem ? there is a way to reinstall files copying them from another tytn ?
Or there is a way to complete reinstall the operating system wm5 assuming that an hard reset ( i tryed 3 times ) did not solved the Poutlook problem ?.
I explain better the problem : starting 'MESSAGE' the app won't open or sometime i can see the word 'message ' in the upper bar and 'new' and 'menu' in the bottom bar but background stays to ' today' screen . NEW and MENU seem working but can't see or send any message type ...
Some other times Poutlook freeze , i can see it started in MEMORY>RUNNING APPS but impossible to close ( must turn off the device or softreset )

I'm partially fixed the problem : i'm tryng FLEXMAIL 2007 for wm5 trial version , after installing it's completely integrated into operating system , manage email and sms ( no mms ) and it's much more better than pocket outlook . No need pocket outlook anymore
I suggest to try it to completely replace corrupted pocket outlook ...
