Please, xda-developers, please, we need to unlock our XDA II ; 'til that I just can use it as a PDA
Thank's a lot, guys, if you have time ...
o2 charged me £15 for the unlock code...got it within 48 hours
Hi,
What number at O2 did you call to unlock the phone and what excuse did you you use?
Thanks,
K
just plain customer services from my handset ..and just asked for it to be unlocked..i just said that i wanted to use a foreign sim card when abroad
xda 2 Unlock code, i have one
I have an unlock code for XDA 2, please e-mail me and I can send it to someone to see if it works. Completeley free as I don't know if it will work. :?
Unlock codes will be unique to each Xda II IMEI.
So, I very much doubt your code will work in any Xda.
I'd imagine the Xda II will be much harder to unlock than Xda I

You are more than welcome to try if you wish.
No master code? Ah well, such is life.

Can you also use other UK SIMs, e.g., Vodaphone?
Could you also send the telephone number you called?
Many thanks

O2 customer services are so inconsistent keep phoning everyone. I phoned three times first time I was told it could not be done, second time the woman said she would put the request in for me and it would cost me £15.00 and that she would phone me back. As she didn't phone back I phoned the next day to complain and got passed to a supervisor who told me that O2 were no longer issuing codes for the XDA II as they wanted it to be for O2 only and that this had come from the board of directors!! He add though, that if I paid my contract out which he said would be £400.00 plus the £15.00 they would consider it. I am on pay as you go so I could not do this and wouldn't anyway. I accepted this and thought I would wait for the developers here to sort it out, within 5 minutes of me putting the phone down the lady I spoke to the day before from O2 rang back and said " I have the code I requested yesterday would you like it?" Naturally I said yes, She then gave it to me asked me if she could help me with anything else, which I replied no, and she put the phone down. The best part about this is that she forgot to charge me £15.00 for the code, She hasn't taken it from my C/Card or my payg balance, BONUS!!!!! 8)
So everyone, Just Keep trying O2 Customer Services on 08702410202 and press Zero until you go through to a Human Being.

so if any1 knos of a independant shop who will help or of any1 who has a code - plz help me!!
thanks
You won't believe this!!
My Brother got an XDA II which he gave to me to get unlocked, I had no luck with normal O2 customer services. However, his contract is a corporate contract, So I used his details and after hanging around on the phone for about an hour I went through to a personal Corporate advisor who will now be e-mailing me the code in two or three days. It was so easy!!!! no questions asked. They said they would charge the acount, which is fine by me!!
The moral to this story is - if you know anyone who has a corperate acount with O2, ask them very nicely if you can use their details.
You will need - The mobile number, The company name, The company address, the O2 contact person (if possible, if not just say you don't know), The name of your mate and the IMEI number also the e-mail address of your mate with company.
Good Luck and keep trying!!
Maybe at some point we can provide some help
No promises, but we do not have locked devices ourselves. So if you could go to http://xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4095 with your locked device and send me some info...
Thanks,
Thanks a lot xda-devs , we are crossing fingers !!!
I went to the thread to see if I can help, but it appears to be chinese to me ... I have not Linux, but if I can help in any way, let me know by PM...

Hi,
I've worked on unlocking software before.. Is there any info on exactly how the locking in this phone works? I was quite surprised to see AT commands can do it. Have they left some high level unlocking commands or are you accessing the flash/eeprom through those commands?
If the former i guess there is a checksum or some kinda signing algo? or is it even eaiser than that hehe
If the later, i guess you need to map the rom and eeprom before you can do it.
And erm.. couldnt we just upload the rom from a iMate Phone Edition (from Carrier Devices), which is the unlocked version of the XDA II (O2 rebadged it for their network)
Toxic.
Hmm having thought about that, the rom probably checks weather a lock is present. The only way that would work is if the iMate doesnt bother with any lock checks at all, rather than just comes unlocked.
Thats probably unlikey :-(

Happy you are !!! can you tell us how you have proceed to get the code, please ?
Hi all,
I've spent the last month searching through everything so as not to waste anyones time with a simple question but to no avail and so here I am.
I've been given an XDA II from a family member as they have upgraded to the Exec and I have been using it as a PDA only. Well I see that Orange have some good deals on the go and so decide to use it as a phone/Internet enabled PDA as well.
I've unlocked it (many times now) got 2003SE on it and have put the correct MMS and GPRS settings in (The ones from Shadamehr). I've checked with Orange and GPRS is enabled on my account with them (PAYG at the mo) but for some reason the same thing that was happening when I first got it pops up
"Cannot connect
There is no modem at the above number..."
So best my small mind can figure is that somehow the 'phone part' of the PDA isn't working. I've tried other sims in it and they don't work either (o2 and Three - but I think Three is funny anyways). Is there something wrong with the actual phone bit?
It's a legit XDA with the M1000 ROM upgrade from the orange site which has made it 2003SE
Does anyone have any knowledge about how I can get my PDA to be a phone? It was once before (but with O2)
I asked this question over in Networking but they seem to think it's something specific to the phone.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

hello, I've an mda compact II, simlocked and with english rom, I try to unlock it with lockwiz, but I failed, after I try to upgrade the rom in italian rom, I try with a wizard rom because I read a topic where peope write that it's the same rom and that I can upgrade my mda with that.
So I run the upgrade and at the end the phone swiched off and now I can't swith on it!!!!!!!
HELP HELP HELP

wizard roms do not work on this phone, they paperweight it. you need to send the phone back to HTC or T-Mobile to get it fixed.
HELLO, I'M FROM ITALY, CAN TELL ME HOW CAN I SEND IT TO T-MOBILE??
TANKS
By AirMail ex.
try getting contact with these people
http://www.htceurope.com/
t-mobile will just ask you to contact them. I'm on O2 and I've got my charmer off ebay. And, later there is a problem with the speaker that requires me to send it for repair. I purposely get hold of my self a T-mobile PAYG SIM card so that I can call up t-mobile to have my charmer repair/replace. After all the fuss of getting an internet account, numbers and password pin, the give me the htceurope number. Sigh.
Anyway, try their web page case report thing. the last time I tried it, it doesn't work so I have to call them instead. And, calling them seems to be problematic too, as there aren't usually people around getting the calls. try calling them early 10-12 in the morning (not around 900), and leave a message on their answering machine. They will respond to you the next day. The experience with then aren't that bad. So, good luck
hi i have a htc p3470 and cannot get gprs working with o2 pay and go? tried putting the settings in manually but nothing works, called 02 and they say they dont support these phones, surely when the settings are right it should work, any help would be appreciated, also can you make these wireless.
sorry will go introduce myself as this is my first post askin for help lol.
i posted the original O2 cabs here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/91473243/O2_Cabs.rar.html
run the one called UKpostpay something or other... reboot & your done
o2 gprs
BAD NEWS I AM AFRAID
o2 do not allow you to use pay as u go on their pdas must have contrct to be able to use it- i am not sure of your model but i have experience of Xda orbit and orbit 2 worked fine with contract sim when try to use pay as u go no connection phoned o2 and was told that pda must have contract sim! so got unlocked and use orange pay as u go
Everyone says how great the HTC Dream is, well i am considering purchasing one next pay day..
ive seen second hand ones (t-mobile) for £190.
I wont be using it on t-mobile but will be using it on o2, i already have a web bolt on etc, however i dont want to buy one if i cant get it properly configured.
i understand i'll need to sim unlock - no problem
then what happens with the activation? / APN do i need to find o2 settings that work (found some in the apn thread for payg - however i can find the contract ones)
then i need to root the device/hardspl then i can update to a custom rom??
is this all correct or have i got it wrong as i dont want to end up with an expensive paperweight lol
As for the activation, you can use the "register without sim card or data plan" hack or use your data plan from o2 to activate. All you you need to do to activate is sign in with your gmail account.
Root the device, hardspl and you can use custom ROMs.
So basically you've got it all figured out.
