Anyone Unlocked An XDA II Yet? - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

How?

Please, xda-developers, please, we need to unlock our XDA II ; 'til that I just can use it as a PDA
Thank's a lot, guys, if you have time ...

o2 charged me £15 for the unlock code...got it within 48 hours

Hi,
What number at O2 did you call to unlock the phone and what excuse did you you use?
Thanks,
K

just plain customer services from my handset ..and just asked for it to be unlocked..i just said that i wanted to use a foreign sim card when abroad

xda 2 Unlock code, i have one
I have an unlock code for XDA 2, please e-mail me and I can send it to someone to see if it works. Completeley free as I don't know if it will work. :?

Unlock codes will be unique to each Xda II IMEI.
So, I very much doubt your code will work in any Xda.
I'd imagine the Xda II will be much harder to unlock than Xda I

Xda 2 Unlock
You are more than welcome to try if you wish.

No master code? Ah well, such is life.

Can you also use other UK SIMs, e.g., Vodaphone?
Could you also send the telephone number you called?
Many thanks

Unlock codes
O2 customer services are so inconsistent keep phoning everyone. I phoned three times first time I was told it could not be done, second time the woman said she would put the request in for me and it would cost me £15.00 and that she would phone me back. As she didn't phone back I phoned the next day to complain and got passed to a supervisor who told me that O2 were no longer issuing codes for the XDA II as they wanted it to be for O2 only and that this had come from the board of directors!! He add though, that if I paid my contract out which he said would be £400.00 plus the £15.00 they would consider it. I am on pay as you go so I could not do this and wouldn't anyway. I accepted this and thought I would wait for the developers here to sort it out, within 5 minutes of me putting the phone down the lady I spoke to the day before from O2 rang back and said " I have the code I requested yesterday would you like it?" Naturally I said yes, She then gave it to me asked me if she could help me with anything else, which I replied no, and she put the phone down. The best part about this is that she forgot to charge me £15.00 for the code, She hasn't taken it from my C/Card or my payg balance, BONUS!!!!! 8)
So everyone, Just Keep trying O2 Customer Services on 08702410202 and press Zero until you go through to a Human Being.

unlockin the xda 2 drama's!!
Im so sad!
jus been on phone to o2 so many times today but they jus wont unlock it!
even after saying that its against offtel regs they said its their own make so they dont hav to unlock it....
so if any1 knos of a independant shop who will help or of any1 who has a code - plz help me!!
thanks

You won't believe this!!
My Brother got an XDA II which he gave to me to get unlocked, I had no luck with normal O2 customer services. However, his contract is a corporate contract, So I used his details and after hanging around on the phone for about an hour I went through to a personal Corporate advisor who will now be e-mailing me the code in two or three days. It was so easy!!!! no questions asked. They said they would charge the acount, which is fine by me!!
The moral to this story is - if you know anyone who has a corperate acount with O2, ask them very nicely if you can use their details.
You will need - The mobile number, The company name, The company address, the O2 contact person (if possible, if not just say you don't know), The name of your mate and the IMEI number also the e-mail address of your mate with company.
Good Luck and keep trying!!

Maybe at some point we can provide some help
No promises, but we do not have locked devices ourselves. So if you could go to http://xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4095 with your locked device and send me some info...
Thanks,

Thanks a lot xda-devs , we are crossing fingers !!!
I went to the thread to see if I can help, but it appears to be chinese to me ... I have not Linux, but if I can help in any way, let me know by PM...

any news yet...
hi..noob here...
this seems a hot topic... are we any nearer to unlocking the XDAII...
must be someone, somewhere...
hopefully...

Hi,
I've worked on unlocking software before.. Is there any info on exactly how the locking in this phone works? I was quite surprised to see AT commands can do it. Have they left some high level unlocking commands or are you accessing the flash/eeprom through those commands?
If the former i guess there is a checksum or some kinda signing algo? or is it even eaiser than that hehe
If the later, i guess you need to map the rom and eeprom before you can do it.
And erm.. couldnt we just upload the rom from a iMate Phone Edition (from Carrier Devices), which is the unlocked version of the XDA II (O2 rebadged it for their network)
Toxic.

Hmm having thought about that, the rom probably checks weather a lock is present. The only way that would work is if the iMate doesnt bother with any lock checks at all, rather than just comes unlocked.
Thats probably unlikey :-(

Recommendations for sim-unlock

Hi there,
I did some searching a few days ago on here, and saw some people saying they had success with HTCGate for unlocking.
So I paid my money and gave them my IMEI and waited... and waited... and ... still waiting, not a peep from them, fired off an email yesterday but no reply.
My HD2 is currently locked to O2 UK, and i'm moving my SIM over to vodafone this week so really need to find somewhere *reliable* online who can unlock it quickly?
Any recommendations from people who've actually had it done?
Many thanks
I used www.unlockitnow.com to unlock my HD2. I was on T-Mobile.
Unlocked code delivered successfully in less than 8 hours.
ccristal
Thanks Ccristal,
Have no ordered one with them, and hopefully will have more luck than the awful service at htcgate.
Where did you buy your HD2 from? If you got it from O2 directly, request an unlocking code from them. It'll take up to 28 days, but is free.
Got my code overnight from www.unlockitnow.com much better than the jokers at htcgate, thanks Ccristal

Unlocking Touch pro 2
Hello I am trying to get my sprint TP2 to work on all US GSM services such as T-Mobile and ATT can anyone help me?
Erm, see above ^^ !?
Hi, I used HTCGATE.COM last night, paid at 6pm and was unlocked by 7pm.
The e-mails from them went into my hotmail junk-mail folder - maybe you want to check there? Hope it works out for you either way.
Over the last six weeks or so I have seen a lot of posts suggesting contacting O2 to get the HD2 'SIM unlocked' for free.
I was just wondering if anyone has actually received a code back from O2?
I applied via the online form on O2's website about six weeks ago and am still waiting for a code!
About a week ago I wrote to them asking why I haven't received my code yet (inluding the reference number I received back from them originally).
After about 3 days, they wrote back asking me for additional information (which I had already provided in the online form). I gave them this information and was told that they would submit my request to their Support Team IF I sent them another email requesting them to do it. But that it could take up to 28 days (ie ANOTHER 28 days!) for me to receive my code.
It looks to me as if O2 have no real intention of providing this code are are counting on the fact that most people will give up eventually...
Of course, if other members have received unlock codes back from O2, it could just be that I have been 'unlucky'. Hence my request for others to report back their experiences...

Thanks for that, Kai.
I have had the O2 SIM in my HD2 the whole time, so that's not the problem.
However, having read some of the posts on that thread, it struck me that I was never asked to provide my IMEI number!
They don't request it on the 'unlock form' and I'm pretty sure they didn't ask for it when I spoke to the guy on the phone about it.
I'm going to phone them tomorrow to chase them. No doubt they will tell me now that is the reason they could not provide a code!
Are you sure? If I remember correctly, you cannot submit the unlock request form without providing an IMEI number? (It's because of the issue that the HD2 supplies you with a 17 digit IMEI number when you type in *#06# - but the web form will only allow you to enter 15 digitis for the IMEI).
Are you sure you went to the correct place to request your unlock code? It can be found here:

I had my iPhone unlocked by them using that unlock request form. It took about 2 weeks before I got an SMS confirming it had been unlocked. The O2 SIM was in the phone the whole time.

That's definitely the form I used, Kai.
However, I'm not completely sure that I didn't provide the IMEI number. I just don't remember being asked to provide it. It WAS 6 weeks ago after all!
As you can see, it is not requested on the first page of the form, but maybe there was a 2nd page...
Anyway, I'll give them a ring tomorrow and see what excuses they have to make.
I really just wanted to see if it was only me or whether everyone was having the same experience. So "Thank you" to everyone who has replied to say that it worked for them (Well, to you and _Belial, anyway...!)
Satayu Basu - htcgate.com Take care. I payed, I received one code but not working (Invalid unlock code). I am trying to contact them but no answer. So I've lost my 20$ and my vodafone Romania Leo is still locked
O2 dragging their feet on SIM unlock for HD2???
Update 18 Jan...
1. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - was told that system was down, please call back later!
2. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - explained situation... was asked to wait while agent checked notes - agent cut me off!
3. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - explained situation... agent cut me off as soon as I mentioned the word "unlatching" (O2's word for SIM unlocking)!
4. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - explained situation... agent had never heard of 'unlatching'!... talked agent through the whole process... the best the agent could offer was to fill out another request form and advise me that it could take 'up to 28 days' before I receive my code!
It's a good job that a) I don't desperately need my phone unlocked and b) I know that sooner or later it will be available on this forum...
be patient. i received my unlock code off o2 eventually. was more than 28 days but i now have an unlocked HD2 which didn't cost a penny to do. as is mentioned make sure you edit and get the imei right. also it is emailed rather than text to you so make sure you get that right and don't stick a fake one down.
Thanks for that, Optiknerv.
It's interesting that you say you received your code via email as elsewhere I have heard it comes via SMS.
I did fill in my genuine email address on the form and I received a confirmation email to that address afterwards. However, what is interesting is that the third agent I spoke to quoted some email address I've never heard of ([email protected]) as the email address stored on the 'system'. This appears to be some internally generated address from O2 as the xxxxxxxxx is my name followed by about 6 digits! I haven'y got a clue as to how to access this account as it has nothing to do with my 'My O2' account!
I asked him to update my account with my correct address, just in case...

Cannot unlock HD2 - T-Mobile UK 2010 build

Dear all,
I was faced by an unexpected problem and I will try to relate this to you in this thread. I will also update this thread if i find a solution on how to resolve this issue so maybe I can avoid some head-scratching out there......
- I got an HD2 on T mobile UK was very happy to see it safe and sound home
- I didn't have a sim card in it ....
- booted it ......
- checked out the IMEI number
- Sent it to an IMEI unlock service from Ebay (one of the best)
- The day after, I received an email from the unlock service and guess what?
- NO unlock code! It's unavailable!
- Reason given ..... can't unlock because phone's IMEI is too new so we
so they don't have it in their database
- Didn't discourage myself and tried at least 5 different ones INCLUDING some really prominent sites out there (if you p.m. me will send you the address but I don't want to sound like I am doing some advert cos I am not...)
- 7 unlock services later...... I gave up..... The code is literally unknown and no sim unlock code seems to exist....
- T-Mobile simple told me that I need a 3 month contract to get the unlock code from them .... but the problem is I am outside the UK so that is not an option. Also 3 months not using this HD2 will simply make me go crazy.....
- Tried also HTC, quick reply (very quick indeed). To cut the long story shor I was told that their "universal unlock code" for all worldwide models WON't work on T mobile UK because the codes are changed by this carrier (grrrrrrrr... why?)
So I have to give up using an IMEI type of unlock. THERE MUST be some alternative way of doing it .....
Anyone could guide me on this please? Do I have to use HSPL2 to get rid of the sim lock (and the warranty?)
Thanks to all of you who contribute to this great community a better place......
Regards
Alcatraz
sorry to hear that mate
tmobile uk here aswell
how comes you need it unlocked? if its just to flash ROMs then HSPL2 can do the job for you and it won't invalidate your warranty as the new version provided two options
for example 1.42HSPL (unlocked) and 1.42SPL (original)
so you can change backwards and forwards in case you ever need to use your warranty.
if however you want it so that you can use it with a different operator maybe someone else here can help you

I unlocked my T-Mobile UK HD2 with the service from eBay. A code was generated in 10mins!!! and it worked!
I had to wait a couple of weeks before buying the code as T-Mobile hadn't released the database (something like that).

WHICH service from Ebay? I USED like 7 of them I tried unlockology and also htc-unlocker which apparently are an authority when it comes to providing "unlock codes in minutes". I repeat that the main problem is that it is a 2010 model.

Correct, HSPL has nothing to do with unlocking the phone. It will allow you to flash another ROM with another CID.
Doing so will not remove your sim lock, what you need to do is get an unlock code (which you have been trying to do)
Quite a few of the noobs seem to think that CID lock and SIM lock are the same thing!

I never implied that ...... I KNOW that they are different .... I was being sarcastic in my reply....
The thing I am not sure about is the CID locks. I know that SIM locks lock you onto a particular carrier... But am not too sure about CID locks. What I was led to understand from the various readings which I bumped into is that a CID lock restricts you onto some particular region. So for example people in Egypt encounter regional-related issues due to CID locks (for e.g GPS not working etc...)

T-mobile have given me unlock codes for an (HTC) Ameo and a Touch Diamond 2 and both failed. I had to wait nearly 4 weeks in each case and they simply refunded my payment and said that was all they could do! Great customer service!

HTC's reply... RE generic unlock codes (factory ones)
Dear all
The fellow people at HTC told me the following RE "generic factory unlock codes......". They basically "DON'T exist" according to HTC Uk. They claim that when the network operator gets hold of the phones, they put in there own sim lock encryption... They do some other disastrous things as well .....such as mucking up the OS and removing apps.....
Dear Sir,
Thank you for contacting us. In regards to Unlocking, I can help you with that. Unfortunately HTC does not have unlocking codes as we supply to different networks, the devices we supply are customised by the network providers accordingly. Hence only the network provider can give you an unlocking code. Thank you for contacting HTC. Best regards, Herald B HTC

Unlocking X10 Question

A friend of mine has an x10 by vodafone. He recently bought it from their store. He also bought a unlockcode by vodafone (legal). So good, so far!
BUT - when he entered another simcard in the phone to start the unlockprocedure - he put in the pincode instead of the unlockcode. (he is not that technical). After 5 times of trying the phone is now locked for unlocking. One says the phone has now to be unlocked by software meyhod and can not be unlocked by code anymore.
Softwaremethod is not available. Can someone give me any advise how to handle to get the option back to put in the unlockcode again?!
flashing? anything else?
Take it back to the store and get them to do it, if they can't use a simple unlock code then I can't see them being any good with a software method.
sounds like its been accidentally locked you need a PUK key to unlock it ....(if its not stolen..not saying it is!) then the service provider should supply this PUK override code to allow you to change it to a more easiky remembered code

May i ask where he bought this code? I also own a Vodafone locked X10 and would like to unlock it.

It sucks to see people having problems with unlocking their phones...but wait! here's you're lucky day Follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731240&page=4 and go to post #38 and you'll find the answer. I was one of them who got the phone for a week, tried almost all of the online remote unlocking services and didn't work, bought the manufacturer's code and entered it too many times that the phone counter-blocked itself. Anyway...long story short, I was able to unlock my phone with HTCCode.com. I don't have anything to do with their website, but they were the only place that could unlock my phone, and trust me I had three other buddies from this forum that had the same problem but unlocked the phone with them. If you have any problems, pm and I'll try to help. You should read the thread I sent you first and you'll understand, but if you can't wait, click on the link on post #38 and talk to HTCCode directly. They are friendly and very helpful. Good luck buddy, give me feedback too

O2 doing free unlock

O2 doing free unlock for contact customers, I put the request through the normal form rather than having to email them so it speeds thing up a lot.
https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset Unlocking Form
Lunch time today I got an email through with the unlock code, nothing about charges and no charges placed on my account.

When I try this form weird at the 3rd page, the headline changing from Unlock your phone to Custumer service asking me what is my question, then I send it but nothing happens, just starts the custumer service form again. I tried 3 times
just in case are you talking about dell streak unlock?

Go here https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset%20Unlocking%20Form
Fill in your IMEI number and submit, they will respond to you within 24 hours, but with this bank holiday, it will only be sometime next week. They will send you an email with a 16-digit unlock code.
Be vary careful not to piss about with the unlock code on that screen that appears when you insert another sim card as after 3 failed attempts it locks your phone permanently and then you are screwed. ...like I did. ;-)
Instructions once you have the code is as follows:
- Power on device with a non O2 UK SIM card
- The device shows: "SIM network unlock PIN"
- Enter the unlock code (NCK) for the network lock and press "Unlock"
- Device will pop up a message "Network unlock successful"
If you have already entered a wrong code too many times the phone gets locked permanently. Then again, you are part of the xda community so help is always at hand. You can have your bootloader setpoint-unlocked by a guy here on the forums for 15 quid. Just drop Jinx13 http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4002805 a pm and scope out his website. I made use of his services and can vouch for him.
http://phoneunlockserver.com/forum/index.php?/topic/7-guide-all-xperia-bootloader-unlock-unlock-sim-enable-fastboot/
Hope this helps! ;-)
PS. Even though your sim will then be unlocked to all networks your bootloader will not be, which will limit your future options, so go for it, you know you want to....

*Sorry if i got your names wrong there^

Hi, I have the same phone with o2 uk and I just rang them up and told them I needed to unlock my phone as I go to Germany a lot and use a different sim card. The guy said no problem and that a code would be sent within a few days and it was free. The code came the next day in a text message and now the phone is sim free. Hope this helps. Lee
