Low/No Signal - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Has anyone else noticed or experienced little to no signal being shown with this T-Mobile WM2003 Update? Since I've upgraded, I've been having issues with making calls, getting/losing signal, and alot of other issues related to the phone side of the device. Didn't have these issues prior to upgrade or for the first 2-3 days after upgrade.
I was thinking about downgrading and starting over, but I wanted to hear the opinions of others on here. What do you think I should do from here?
Thanks

I have exactly the same problems.....(After a day or two)
Also thinking of downgrading.

What radio stack are you guys using?

I've got the same problem!
I'm using the 6.24.00 T-Mobile radio update with a cooked WM2003 rom. The signal seems lower than when I was using the latest AT&T RSU.

I'm using 4.21 (Dutch XDA)
T-Mobile ROM 4.00.10

6.24.00 with the 4.00.10 ROM Version. I didn't have any of these issues either with the AT&T radio stack, just since I upgraded to the T-Mobile one.

I am using the Siemens SX56 with ATT. I have the same issues. Signal, ring volume does not seem to be as loud even when using a standard ring tone.
Everything worked perfectly until I upgraded to 2003

Whoo hoo 4.00.21 success! :-)

OK.. so I am new, and excited. I have had alot happen to my trusty old tmobile pocket pc phone over the last two days.
First, I got it unlocked by tmobile two days ago and then switched to ATT. Big big plus for me here where I live as my tmobile service would not work at home, SMS and voicemail notifications were rarely recieved. So far so good with ATT, in fact I get the notifications almost instantly, and I have FULL service with ATT at my home now.
Ok.. then yesterday and today I got interested in the idea of upgrading to the 2003 software. Went ahead and bit the bullet and did it. So far so good. I am now running:
ROM Version: 4.00.21 ENG
ROM Date: 8/11/03
Radio Version: 6.18.00
Protocol Version: 324e4
I have not noticed any real issues yet. I have noticed that it locked up on me once when changing a theme I believe. But I did a soft reset and the change was made, I then changed it to another theme to test and no problem.
I dont seem to have the sliding backlight settings I noticed some where else. But I do think like the signal bar meter better as it is clearer now to the eye when you have even one bar. As well as love the mute, and the dual volume slider.
I thought I read there was a higher version radio stack some where, but I have to find that again.
All in all very happy. Happy with the new ROM and tools and forums made available by XDA-Developers, happy with ATT service and hope to be reporting back more good news in the future.
ok.. figured out the sliding backlight
I guess I got confused and thought the sliding backlight control I saw was related to the 2003 ROM, when in fact I guess it was seen by me on the XDA version 2. So, that clears that up for me.
Now to just get the newest radio stack...

No problem on the radio stack, I just need confirmation on what network you're on AT&T or T-Mobile so I'll know which stack to send.
Also I'll need an email address to send to, PM me on that.
BTW good work on the upgrade.
thank
OK.. radio is now updated to A.20.10 which should be the latest ATT radio version correct ? I have noticed one odd thing about after I upgraded to the ATT radio is that it no longer says what network I am connected to as it did with the tmobile radio.
I also noticed something stange with the 2003 software and GPRS. Seems there is no "end" option to end the GPRS connection.
All in all I am pleasantly surprised about how easy and smooth all has gone in doing all of this. I like the always connected GPRS.
thanks
Yes you are correct A.20.10 is the latest ATT radio stack!
Good obs on noticing that the AT&T stack doesn't show what network you're using, it was also the first thing I noticed too!
Yea the only way to end GPRS now its to press the Red phone button or buy Spb GPRS Monitor

As far as upgrading to Pocket PC Phone edition 2003 you can build your own from Jeff's kitchen at:
http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/ROMkitchen/
or you can download it from Yorch's web site at:
http://www.yorch.net
Note: its located under software.
BTW what radio stack does your SX56 currently have if its less than A.20.10 you'll want to upgrade that too?

Which Radio Stack works best on T-Mobile USA in Florida?

I have the T-Mobile PPC and I have upgraded it to the T-Mo WM2003 ROM. I like this ROM due in large part to the windows voice command. Anyways it says under my system settings that my radio is 6.02. I am not getting very good reception, not just on the screen but I'm missing calls and dropping calls as well. Someone else on the forums said to try to find someone in my area whos using a good RS. So does anyone have any help from my area? Or just in general what's worked best for people? I know some are using ATT upgrade as well. Please let me know, thanks.
Go to < http://www.yorch.net/upgrades.htm > He has the latest T-Mobile RSU.
I has the same problem with T-Mobile. My answer was to switch to AT&T.
Good Luck,
Carey
The newest radio stack on yorch.net is unofficial. Is anyone using this unofficial radio stack?
Hey everyone, I had to finally switch to a different phone because I was just dropping calls everywhere. But recently spoke to someone and they advised using a new RSU. Can anyone tell me what RS they seem to get the best service on?
I have been using the Radio Stack version 6.25.02 along with the ROM version 4.00.21 ENG. The combination works best for me on my SX56 with the T-Mobile USA service.

I've been using SX56 too but I live in Asia with diffrent phone service. My ROM v3.17.03 ENG and Radio vA.20.10 and the reception is also weak. Is that combo also can work best in here? I also want to know is it true that using particular RS in diffrent area/service also have diffrent performance, or it is just a same everywhere with any services? Can anyone explained to me? Thanks.
I tracked down RSU 6.25.02 but when I tried to do the upgrade it wouldn't work. I tried a couple different ones actually. I took the 4 files and placed them in the Windows\Startup folder. Then reset with no luck. Then I put the 4 files in the Windows folder and just the exe in the Startup. But still no luck. So finally I tried a different upgrade and that one just put it in perpetual reset mode, so I left my XDA on over night to delete everything and now it seems to be working ok. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong with the upgrade?
This is what I did to upgrade the Radiostack:
1. Copied all the 4 files of Radiostack to device's \windows directory through ActiveSync.
2. Execute RSUpgrade.Exe by double-clicking it.
3. Soft-reset the device once the Radiostack is done.
Your result may vary. Please try it with caution.
thanks pvenkat, I upgraded following your directions and it worked. Unfortunately I think the reception is even worse now than with 6.18!! I'm pretty much just accepting that the XDA on Tmobile (at least in florida) is just garbage reception. But since this is not my first phone and I can pretty much afford to play with it, can anyone else recommend a RSU I could use? I'll try ATT, Rogers, whatever. Just what does everyone find giving them best reception? TIA

Tytn Dropping Calls Like Crazy...

Ok, I'm fed up now. My Tytn is dropping a ridiculous amount of calls lately, and I'm tired of it. I've set it to use GSM/GPRS only, so it's not an issue of switching between 2G and 3G.
My current ROM info is in my signature. I've been avoiding going to another ROM because I would never be able to go back to the original Tytn one if I wanted to. But now, I'm ready. I'm tired of the dropped calls.
So, with that being said... please, give me your suggestion of what ROM I should upgrade to.
Many thanks in advance,
SP111
Sleuth,
If you happen to read this, I'm interested in hearing about your setup as shown in your sig.
I'm using Dopod's Rom (Not the AUS one), it's quite good, snappy responsive. Once a while crashes if i leave wifi on over night, otherwise very stable. as for voice quality, it's amazing, havn't had problems with dropped calls. Before you change ur rom, i'd suggest u check that it's ur provider and not your fone. when u sure it's ur fone, try the dopod rom.
SP111,
I am experiencing the same problem. I am using the 8525. I changed SIM cards and that did not help much.
Hope to see what others think...

Put you SIM card in another phone (Nokia OR SE) and see if you face same problem, if yes, then it is RADIO signal problem in your Area. Otherwise the choice is in your hand to proceed for ROM upgrade on TyTn for Radio only. (See WiKi Pages for ROM Upgrade Radio Ver. 1.20.31.10).
why dont you try the new ROM 1.35????.
there are good comments about it. I will upgrade my vodafone v1605 to it..
good luck

For me is was a matter of which provider I used. I switched to another (from Tele2 to Telenor, if you're Norwegian ) and I never had that problem again...
Sorry, I should have been more clear about one point... I still have my Cingular 2125 (HTC Faraday) as well as my old Audiovox SMT5600, and I have tested these phones with my SIM, and do NOT experience problems with dropped calls. So I'm pretty sure it's the Tytn.
My TyTN is on Cingular. I've never had a dropped call. I do have some issues picking up calls though. Interestingly, I the same issues with my Cingular 8125 (wizard).

Post your Bugs/Issues for ROM upgrade 1.35

Thought I'd start a thread where people can post there issues/bugs on ROM upgrade 1.35 and it will also help people to make an informed decision before upgrading to this ROM.
I have now used this ROM on my SPV M3100 for over several weeks and the only issue I have is when using my 3 network USIM the voicemail speed dial 1 does not work even after going through the settings or registry the bizzare thing is I don't get this issue with other network SIM i.e. O2, Orange or T-Mobile.
P.S. before someone says I may have a faulty 3 USIM, I did not have this issue prior to this upgrade.
Is the 1.35 Rom different from?:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294927&highlight=issues
The HTC ROM 1.35 is different from the cingular ROM 2.06, it's supposedly the most stable of the ROM upgrades or so they say!
I haven't any issue, Radio & ROM 1.35 ... i've read someone has problems with messaging service...
Using a Task Manager ONE TIME only i've seen the Messaging Service stopped, just a reboot.
now works well, bt, wifi & radio
and what happend, when you try to change the very first contact on sim? I had similar problem, but on old nokia phone, not windows nor symbian.

Would the HTC 1.35 ROm work on the Cingular 8525?
loud busy tone even if Phone is on loudness=0
i have some problems with this Radio 1.35.00.11. The thread is about that, isn´t it?
First of all my phone beeps loud out of the speaker at the back(the loud one for "free speaking") if the Person iam calling is not available (busy signal). Even if the Phone is turned to loudness 0! Iam not sure that the Radio Rom is responsible for that, because i reseted my vario2 completely. But iam sure that problem i never had before(with the german origninal Radio ROm).
*edit* iam currently reading that this is not a problem from the Radio Rom... The extRom may be responsible. Sorry!
But please help me the following Topic:short: is it possible to flash to an older RadioRom?
*/edit*
Because of that i wanted to flash the 1.27. Radio ROM to the Vario2. I took this one: ftp://xda:[email protected]_TMD-TMA_Radiopatch_1.27.00.00_107_GER.exe
The flashing procedure got complete without any error, but on the Vario iss still the 1.35.00.11! Isn´t it possible to flash to a older Rom Version?
Thanks for help!?

Quick missed call question

Ok, so I just went back to TMO service in the US (after being on Fido in canada) and people are having serious issues trying to call me. Sometimes, it tells them the number is unavalible, sometimes it rings through to VM without me hearing a ring at all...etc.
My question is this:
Is this a TMO service issue or my radio rom/phone?
I have good to full signal on my MDA, I'm using WM6 (1.7 Reload), with my old 2.25 Radio GSM ROM, I can call out just fine and it sounds good (as does a incoming call if it actually makes it through), and it worked great in Canada (different WM5 but same radio).
t's your radio ROM version. Try either 2.19.11 or 2.69.11 and the problems should stop. Personally I use 2.69.11 because it seems to get better reception than 2.19.11.
P.S. I just answered this same question from someone in this same forum 2 posts up so I just copied and pasted the answer again.
Thanks! I'll go look for the Radio ROM now. Cheers!
No problem. If you haven't found the Radio ROMs check the wizard wiki, most of them are there.
