My XDA (MDA T-Mobile) is broken - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

(soory my english) I updated the XDA 1.2 ROM throught the USB cradle, but before I overwrited my HDD by utility XDArit.exe so when I started flashing the rom, on the XDA was written "Update your rom" or something, but the process stoped cause the update program can finded the souce XDA rom 1.2 file. So I try the rom write to the SD card throught the card reader, go to the boot menu, updated rom, but the sign "Update your rom..." was still there. I made hard reset, soft reset, I got the sim out, nothing. The sing was still there. So I made upgrade T-Mobile rom 2003 throught the xdarit.exe a now I cant power on my xda. Boot menu is still off. When I get the XDA to the cradle, there is bad sign "Update your rom"... and some points...
Can you help me? Thank you very much.

You need to be a little more concise with your problems but from what I can gather....get an sd card, xdatools, and a rom of your choosing and read a lot more posts before doing anything else.
Once you've done that...burn an image onto the sd card and place it into your device. Boot it up and you should be oka.

Thank you, It goes super!!! XDATOOLS - the best program!!!

HELP!: a possible XDA paper weight, how to recover

A history of what has been done:
at first a perfectly working factory default XDA with a rom that dated back to fall 2002.
Connected to a Compar laptop running WinXp, ActiveSync 3.5 (build 12007)
Tried to flash Radio_Stack_Upgrade_v421.exe to the XDA, the flash went all-ok as far as 45% or 53% and froze after that. After being frozen for more than 5 minutes gave a message "flash failed" and booted the XDA, and started flashing all over again with the same result (this cycle repeated about 10 times)
After which I deleted the flash-related files from the XDA:sta startup directory, during while it was flashing.
Booted the XDA
Worked seemingly fine, except that none of the GSM functions vere operational. At first nothing else seemed to be wrong, but then the XDA completely failed to recognize the AC power connection. It insisted that it ran on battery even thou the power cord was connected. Even tried a different powerplug on the wall. Also the power utility from the settings meny gave "uknown" as batterylife.
Tried to flash the XDA with Radio_Unit_Upgrade_v31703.exe, but could not even start the procedure, as it insists on an early phase that the AC powercord must be connected, and since it doesn't recognize the connetion it simply aborts.
Desperate after this tried a hard reset.
After that the XDA doesn't boot properly: it gets past the inital "plash screen" into making a beep sound and displaying a white screen with blue thick bar (empty) on top. I'v booted the machine about 20 times like this by now, always with the same result. Some times it doesn't get as far as the blue-white empty window. If I leave it at that the XDA simply reboots itself after being frozen in the white-blue screen for over 2 minutes.
I left the machine at the table and went to the gym after coming back it had gotten past the white-blue screen, to the initial phase after hard reset where it says "tap screen to setup your XDA" I tapped the screen and it went to clicking through the crosses on the screen to initialize. I managed to click 1 cross, after which the XDA froze completely and did not react for 15 minutes.
After that single incident getting past the white-blue screen, I haven't been able to repeat it. I have tried to boot with SIM and SD, with SIM only, with SD only, and without both: the same results with each.
I have another XDA at my disposal, and a SD card. Could the device still be rocoverable somehow through using that other XDA to copy something into the SD card and booting.
Please tell me do I have a paper weight on my hands, or can I somehow recover from this. Thank you!
Yea that’s a good place to start use the other XDA to copy it ROM+Boot to the SD card and use that to reflash your ROM. You do that by entering bootloader mode and select CE+Boot. Hopefully you won't get the dreaded Check Sum after the reload!
Do you have access to a PC SD card reader, because you're go to need
one!

It appears my XDA O2 has the 5.17 version of the bootloader. When I boot into the bootloader it says "GSM error" at first, when I press the action button, it says "GSM turn on" and after a while "GSM turn on failed!!" and freezes there. Is this the kind of an error that prevents me from flashing a ROM from a SD card even if I had one? Since it gets stuck with that GSM error thing, and never even actually goes to the bootloader menu... why do I need a PC SD card reader? wouldn't just using the other XDA to copy the ROM and then flash it to the broken one do the trick?
Thanks, for the reply btw, for a while I was thinking that nobody would help me - and my situation is hopeless. Not atleast there is some light at the end of the tunnel..
Try pressing the Calendar button instead of the Action.
BTW You would need a PC SD card reader to load the needed radio stack upgrade files on to your device if all else failed plus if the CE+Boot backup to SD failed with that other XDA you could use XDArit to write another ROM to SD.

Thanks, that appears to work: the button on the left brings up the ROM+BOOT etc menu, and the button on the right (calendar) brings up the menu for setting the GSM (different options, like on, off, 900, 1800, etc). Since the local time is 00:36, I'll try the tricks with the other XDA O2 tomorrow..
You're right I'm sorry, its the Contacts button for CE+Boot!
WOW 00:36 its 14:47 here in LV, NV US anyhow good night and check you tomorrow.

XDA1 Software upgrade.. now it wont power up

Hi got the xda1 rom/radio upgrade from o2 web site.
installed radio upgrade first, it then asked me to remove ac power, i took it off dockign station, it rebooted, asked me for a simlock.. to which there was no mention of in the upgrade instructions.. i turned it off and on, and now it wont even boot up.. comes on with 02 logo.. then a white screen with blue banner at top..
what can i do to fix it??
i cant even see it on the pc!!!
please advise, i really hope i have not broken it.
can o2 do anything?
i can get to the bootloader by holding down power when soft resetting phone.. comes up with gsm error...
then nothing....
i can get to other menu about sd backup ect if i hold down the two buttons at top of unit when in bootloader.
how do i go about repairing the radio and rom ??
is it possible?
bootloader
ok, i can copy the rom ect from xda to sd card... and even copy it back over again.. so if i put the sd card in a reader on the pc.. and put a good rom and radio on it.. will it work ok booting off the sd card?
i can get to that menu from the bootloader..
You need to get a working rom installed then try to address the gsm error, I never heard of an xda asking for sid code when doing an official upgrade. Did you leave your sim card in the xda when it was updating the radio stack? You may be aware from reading on the forum that radio stacks once corrupted are very difficult if not impossible to rectify. I would suggest unpacking the rom you downloaded, burn just the ce part to rom using sd/bootloader method, then try to install gsm again, this time without sim inserted, you will find here on the forum the instructions to burn gsm from sd card, do this after you have a working bootable system. Good luck.
yes., the sim card was in the system at the time.. its an 02 sim card however, so i guessed this was ok.
printed out the 10 page instructions on how to upgrade s.ware so there was no problems (like this)
the radio stack was installed before the rom if that makes any difference?
is it possible for the xda1 just to lock up like this without having done it the way i did?
perhaps it would have done this anyway??
just thinking i could bring it back to place i got it at and not inform them of the s.ware upgrade that caused the problem to see if they can replace it or something...
just an idea, coz at the moment im kind of stuck.
Hi ...
If you managed to reinstall the ROM through SD card, does it mean you have a bootable system but the RSU doesn't work ?
If so and you can access the XDA from Activesync, then you may locate the 4 files of the RSU upgrade from the \windows\startup directory ... delete them then a hard reset may flash the original RSU back if it's not screwed up.
it should be possible to flash the rom via sd, as i can dump the faulty one to sd and then back over.. so, that part of the bootloader works.
ill ring the place ig ot it at and see what they can do, as it just "went off, all by itself"
i would try the sd flash myself but i aint got a card reader for sd.. just smart media.. lol
it doesnt sound as bad as some peoples s.ware problems however, as the bootloader seems to work ok.,. so fixing it may be possible, but ill give place i got it off a ring first.
thanks for all the info.
If it is under warranty and using the official flash upgrade destroyed the gsm radio stack then O2 should repair or replace. Radio stacks are very difficult to repair and people have asked about getting it fixed only to be told the mainboard needs replacing at huge cost.
thanks for the info, i got a sd card reader, but when i put the thing into pc it asks to format it so it wont read the stuff ive dumped from xda to the card..
oh well, ill give these guys a ring to see what they can do.
where can i get hold of the files to put to the sd card?
ive got the rom/radio files, but they are pc exe`s and not seperate files..
well, i got it flashed ok using official 3.17 s.ware via sd card..
on powering up, it still fails, just white screen with blue top, although there is a keyboard icon on the bottom right which was not there before.
still get gsm error on bootloader..
if only there was a way to put new radio stack on it via sd

same problem
I tried to hard reset my XDAIIs to reinstall every thing as normal.
But I was stuck with a boot lock! the screen just stays withought loading the OS.
I tried to get the lates update from www.my-xda.com, install it succesfully, but still .. looked at boot!!!
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
I had a similar problem in that there was an error during flashing. With the expert help of Lumpistefan, I was able to revive my dead Wallaby!! If you can get to the bootloader screen and it says GSM ok, I believe you can save it. You have to download XDATools as well as the ROM version you want to run. (I chose the special developers ROM as it had the auto sim unlock feature during cold boot). Once you have the ROM saved somwhere on your PC then you open the XDA tools (OSI Image tool) and use the .NB or .NB1 file as your source and select your SD card as the destination. Select copy. Once the files have been copied insert the SD card into your wallaby perform a soft reset (power button+soft reset button) and if everything went well you will be prompted to upload the rom. press the action button or center of the key and you should be good to go. Hope this helps and once again very, very special thanks to Lumpistefan for his patience and help!!

[HELP] Bricked TyTN

Hi,
I'm kind of new around here.
My problem is as follows:
- TyTN running PaysRom for about 9 months
- Started to get very sluggish
- Unable to get signal
When i booted my HTC the 'R' and 'G' that appear on screen and used to have values in front of it now display 'none'.
So, I connected it to my PC, 'activesynced' it and tryed to install a new ROM, hoping it would solve the problem.
But the new ROM wasn't installed sucessfully and now all I got is a brick.
I can't even connect it to ActiveSync since it's not recognized.
Is there any solution to my problem?
TIA,
hype
Can you get to the Bootloader?
Yes..
By pressing the Ok+Power+Reset on the bottom button, I see the 'RGB'+white thingie, that I believe is the bootloader..
What SPL do you have? Is it Hard SPL V7(2.10)?
If it is, use the sd card method to install a new ROM.
remember to backup your card 1st.
1. Format 2Gb or less sd card FAT32. Copy .nbh file of the ROM you want onto it and rename to hermimg.nbh .
2. Insert card into Hermes and reset into bootloader.
3. If all things have been done right, follow the prompts....
If the radio ROM has died, I'd suggest trying to flash the Shipped Stock ROM 1st and see if that actually fixes the problem with the blank values on R & G. WM06 upgrade of shipped carrier ROM should also work.
Cheers...
Tks for your response.
I tryed the SD Card method already, with no sucess.
The red stripe shows as follows:
Code:
HERM200
IPL-1.04
HERM200
SPL-2.03
Everytime I tryed on another ROM I always perfomed it using SafeSPL.
Since I don't have 2.1, what can I do?
Tks for all ur help.
What happens when you try and flash a ROM over?
Do you get any kind of error?
You need to find the SHIPPED STOCK ROM. WM06 upgrade should be OK as the CID should match.
Put Hermes into bootloader and connect to PC after unticking "Allow USB Connections" in Activesyncs settings on the PC.
Run the RUU_Wrapper.exe file of the SHIPPED STOCK ROM. ven though activesync won't etect it, the flash file should. Follow the prompts.
Good luck as this seems to be the only way to fix this.
Good Luck...
You might be able to flash a Stock WM5 ROM using the SD Card method. Worked for me when I had SPL 2.03. In fact that's the only ROM it would let me flash over when mine bricked.

SD Card Flashing Question!

Hello to everyone,
i have a problem with flashing.
First i had a WM2003 OS on the T-Mobile MDA. Then i tried to flash the WM2003SE with a romkitchen rom.exe over active sync.
The whole upgrade process worked well, but now it don't boots.
The booting procedure hangs on the welcome screen.
Now i am trying to flash a PPC2002 OS with SD Solution. (Because i have no activesync connection)
I have downloaded a *.nb1 rom from romkitchen and make copied it to SD with OS Image Tool.
But i don't know what to do now. When i insert the SD in the PPC it says only "The Card is not readable do you want to format it".
PLZ help!
Best regards
Andy
never heard about the bootloader saying that only a device saying it when it's booted into wm???
one way you can verify that the rom is flashed to the sdcard using the tool
the pc is no longer able to read the card
so that way you can verify that you did it correctly
Well, i did it by the same way (yesterday) ok, we can say you already have your SD card with your ROM ready for the instalation, so your put your SD car inside, then press the power button on top and press the hard reset button (you know it's down the earphones hole) it will apears the bootloader screen and the it will says press action to start or recort to exit, press the action button and it will start to donwload, it will finish saing COOLD RESET and something like that, take out your SD CARD and make a soft reset (the little hole at the other side of the hard reset) and that's it !!! i hope so jejejej let me know
thanx a lot. This worked for me!!
