Kev, i have read the other posts on the subject, I have an unlocked XDA, using the special edition xda developers rom, i am using the settings you supplied, but still the "g" sign appears for a few secs then disappears. and when connecting to GPRS, i get a failure message, "unable to connect for an unknown reason..."
Any ideas?
cheers

The 'g' is only supposed to appear for a short time. It show you logged in, but something else in the settings is till wrong. Could be a proxy you need, nameserver settings, ...
From a usability standpoint, the operators did everything wrong they could have possibly done wrong with GPRS.
Country code 1 ???
HI Kev,
I have come to realised that my xda came with area code 425 and country code 1 as default and noticed that you do the same for your connection to uk vodaphone. Just a point of interest though: when I tried using phonext which is a dialler and ringtone assignment software, the number called will be with +1 country code; ie to the USA instead of dialling to a UK number.
I still can't figure out why country code is 1 when you use it for GPRS in the UK. Any ideas anyone ??
Cheers

XDA I : How to connect to ISP? [analogue; geographic number]

Hi,
Hope someone can help....my main problem with this scenario, is that I cannot for the life of me find an input box for the username/password supplied to me by my ISP!
I have lots of free minutes and would like to use my XDA I to collect email from my ISP [Claranet] who have supplied me with a UK Geographical number [an 0207 number in London].
I go to setup a new connection...but there's nowhere to input my username and password! I'm clearly doing something wrong...but can somebody help, please?
All other screens appear, and I can input everything...except User/pass combo for the account to which I am dialling in.
GPRS is fine etc, but I do much want to use up these free minutes on collecting my email!
Thanks for any help that can be given, this is driving me mad.
Midi
Did you choose Cellular Line as modem type? On the first page of creating a new connection
second page is the number
third page is the user name / Password
Hi,
Thanks for your help....but I am certain that the screens you are seeing are for the XDA II on WinMobile 2003.
There are no such screns on the XDA I, running PPC2002.
However, your attentions are most appreciated!
Best wishes,
Mike
sorry , yes these are from XDAII PPC2003.
I don't recall how it was done on PPC2002.

T-mobile mda compact dialing area code problem with outlook

Hi,
I have an T-mobile mda compact for a few days now. It's really an excellent machine!
Under one contact I have several phonenumbers. For example:
Michael home +31 (0348) 123456
Michael mobile +31 61234567890
The problem is my area code in outlook is 0348 so my MDA won't dial it (it dials +31 123456) and I get a awnseringmachine that sais: sorry, this number is not available.
The mobile number had nothing between the ( ) so that's no problem.
I changed my area code in outlook 2003 and country, but to bad. When I dial with outlook after changing the areacode it will dial the full number, but my MDA won't :?
Anyone an idea :?:
Cheers!
Try to use the area code without the 0. it worked for me.
I.e. +49 (234) 5678

importing into US - FCC Form

this is a question to any people who imported the HD by buying online
i got my through handtec,
but FedEx is asking me to fill out the FCC Form 700
there are a few fields i don't know what to write
Date of Entry: ?
Entry Number: ?
Port of Entry: ?
Harmonized Tariff Number: ?
Trade Name: ?
FCC ID: ?
thanks for any advice and sorry if this was asked before; i did try to search
I had the same issue, however Fedex said they would complete the first row of detail in the form, Date of Entry, Entry Number, Port of Entry & Harmonized Tariff Number. So all you should need is:
Trade Name: HTC Touch HD
FCC ID: NM8BKNV
thanks for your help mmdirk
and congrats on your 1st post
