I've been playing with my device an cannot get it to enter Bootloader by pressing the power button and soft resetting it.
Is there any other way to enter Bootloader?
Be sure to press and HOLD the power button. Then make a soft reset.
Thanks, but I have two devices and it works on the 'clean' one, but not on the one I've been playing with.
Same Problem, can anybody help ?

We would appreciate it when you guys with the non-willing bootloader devices state what type of device it is (e.g. XDA, MDA, Qtek...) and the ROM version and date. Maybe that can help us resolving the issue.

Unlock O2 Xda
Peter, I have an O2 XDA (Pocket PC 2002 edition). I have a serial cable on order. Do you have any extra tips to prevent the likelihood of negative effects during SID unlocking with this XDA-manipulator software?
Thank you all for this service
Ron
Ron,
Before using XDA Manipulator back any data from the device. Sometimes, the device does a cold boot after using it. Furthermore there are no negative effects to be expected. We have positive unlocking stories from Mexico to China...

I tried to downgrading my MDA from 3.17 (with the latest RSU as well) to 3.14 but suddenly the connection between PC and MDA was failed and the MDA cannot connect to the PC again. The ROM downloading scheme was on the scheme so I then hard reset the MDA to see whether I can get back my OS.
No...it didn't, it just shows some lines on the scheme and no matter how many times I hard reset it, still not working. So I think my MDA is dead now.
Can you still enter the Bootloader mode?
(Hold power button while soft-resetting...)
Unfortunately not.
It only appears 2 empty boxes and a lot of horizontal lines.
Thats the end of this two month's old machine.

Use the SD-card method to get back up and running. See here for details.

My bootloader version is 5.17. Will running the xdatools against this version ok? Because I read on your site that there's some issues with the 5.17 and up version. Thanks again for the quick reply.
I read a information from http://xda-developers.com/XDAtools/ as below:
"Presently, XDAtools deals with the ROM of the PDA side of your device only, it does not allow you to do anything to do with phone ROM upgrades (which are also called 'Radio Stack Upgrades' or RSU)."
If XDAtools doesn't support phone ROM, how we can re-flash the phone ROM by bootloader v5.17?
Thanks !
I was under the (possibly mistaken) impression this was a ROM problem. If not, the bootloader method will not help (but it won't make things worse either). We have no means of helping people with RSU problems. A number of fixes exist, and from the looks of it, each of these fixes helps a subset of the people in trouble, so try whatever fixes float around in this forum, I guess...
Sorry...
That's OK... thanks XDA developer Peter Poelman for quick reply !
I got one more question, how I can flash the CE ROM from bootloader v5.17 using XDATool. Because, I would like to flash back to O2 xda original PPC2002 before go there for repair.
p.s. I got the original ROM v3.17.3 from Jeff's kitchen and XDATool with Card Reader.
How I can use the SD method to flash back my xda to original PPC2002 ?
Thanks again !
Hi eveyone!
I've tried to upgrade my XDA to WM2003 (4.01.16 ENG form T-Mobile). Now I cannot access to my bootloader and GSM doesn't work.
Is there any chance to fix my XDA? Is there any softawre to restore bootloader?
I would be really appreciate for help.
Tom
if the bootloader is broken then

look at the first picture
Do you think it'll work, even though I cannot connect via Activ Sync???
what do you get when trying to access the bootloader screen ?
Nothing, beacuse I simply cannot access bootloader. When I do soft restart with holding the power button, it doesn't bring me to bootloader screen.
Is it possible that I had deleted Bootloader??? How can I restore it?????
Please help me, beacuse I can't afford to by a new device.
I do appreciate every hint.
Regards
AFAIK device still works so there is a possibility to upgrade it by copying sth into device using MMC or SD card. If I feel right about the reason of problems mensioned above he have to change Radio Stack and he can do this by MMC transfer and exe method. Maybe some of U can provide some link to working RS with good readme included...

Yes, if you still can sync with your xda, run the fixbootloader.bat from \xdatools\binaries on your PC

[p.s. Activesync cannot detect the connection with prophet]
Many thanks.
Keywtao
I have a rom but I can not get inside the bootloader.
i have the same problem too
please help what i can do
heeeeeeelp
any professional answer please
iam in big problem and need help
To enter Bootloader you simply have to push and hold both CommManager and Camera button while performing a Softreset with the Stylus! AFter that you must see a three-coloured screen with some text at the top (SPL version) and "Serialö" in the underpart!
Does this happen to you?
After (I think) successfully upgrading to WM6, I've had a few problems...
1) I can't seem to soft reset anymore (holding down Power at the top + the reset button)...it seems the only way I can now reset my unit is by physically removing the battery...
2) I can't access the bootloader SERIAL mode...I can access the options for the kernel hive and formatting storage, but no success being able to get into USB mode to reflash my unit
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated - I only bought this phone on Friday
1. This was hard reset in WM2003 - for soft reset just press the reset button
2. You need to press and hold power+reset+record(WMP) buttons at the same time
I suggest you read WIKI first before asking questions which are answered a million times
Thank you for the prompt reply.
I can understand your frustration with many people constantly asking these questions, but please don't make me feel like an idiot when I've actually read the Wiki and tried Googling the problem prior to posting.
To clarify, I know *how* to access the SERIAL option (I had to do it to upgrade from 2003 to WM6 to begin with). My point is that holding Reset+Power+Record doesn't work anymore. It just continues the boot process and goes straight to the Windows Mobile splash screen. The reset button, in and of itself, does nothing at all. I've tried everything from just tapping it a few times to pressing and holding it for upwards of 30 seconds...but it doesn't seem to do anything for me.
Try to hold and press power+record+cam buttons then press reset while holding those buttons.
Yeah, it does nothing...I have a feeling that the actual reset button is no longer working on the unit...not sure if that's to do with the upgrade to WM6, or if it's a hardware problem and just happens to be coincidence :-/
don't take xplode's advise wrongly. it's just that reading AND understanding the WIKI is important especially for beginners like yourself.
if you think you've successfully upgraded to WM6, it's probably because of the "Congratulations" message that was displayed... well, you're almost there, though not quite.
try to fully understand the no/yes/yes instruction in the WIKI... the reset+power+record combination is NOT what you should be doing. it has been replaced by another... here's the thread that could guide you... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327978&highlight=kitl
and here's the pertinent wiki page...

good luck and welcome to the BA community.
Anyway if this that you try to explain is that the hardware buttons no longer work, you can try the MTTY method, if you have read the wiki you already know what exactly to do
Thanks raymonds, I will try not to, but I just don't want people thinking I'm yet another new member that doesn't read anything before posting, because I know how much I hate that too...I tried reading up on my problems for 4 hours last night before deciding to post because I couldn't find anything else to help.
I have successfully upgraded to WM6 and went through the no/yes/yes steps - the issue is that I want to go back to WM2003 or WM5...they seemed far less problematic for my phone for some reason..one problem I'm facing now is that my BA, pure and simple, no longer recognizes that I have a cellular carrier at all, making it essentially useless as a phone. When I try to go into SIM Manager, it hangs for a while, then goes into the screen saying that only emergency calls can be made...but when I try to put in my PIN, it says "Unknown SIM error", though the SIM works fine in my other phone...
I'm trying to use the Power/Reset/Record to either try reflashing in the hopes that'll resolve my issues, or downgrade...either way, it's not allowing me to do so, and I obviously can't do this while the phone is booted into WM6. It just seems like the reset button is no longer working, since neither combination that uses it (Power+Reset or Power+Camera+Reset) works anymore.
try to downgrade with MAUpgradeUT_NOID.exe, and then reupgrade, another thing you can do is to reflash the radio rom. The MTTY method resets bootloader settings which may be the solution to your problem.
MTTY under Windows XP is explained HERE
xplode, mtty requires one to do the power+reset+record combination, which he currently cannot do.
is this a second-hand unit?
Hm, there was another way to put your device into bootloader mode but i have never tryed it, in most of the WM2003 upgrades there was EnterBL.exe, and when you copy it to the device and execute it the device goes to bootloader mode...
but it also creates problems - read here
Also i had problems in the past with the latest version of MTTY (1.45) and used previous one 1.01 which worked like a charm
Sweet - thanks xplode and raymonds for your time.
Unfortunately I can't try these as I am at work right now, but I do appreciate the suggestions and will try them as soon as I get home.
If I can't get it to work, oh well - off to the service depot and a (probably) expensive lesson learned.
Please keep us updated, about your issue
Thanks guys...
So, I'm taking it that the radio stack is now corrupt, since it's no longer even showing a version number on my BA. I tried the methods xplode suggested - when I enter the unit into KITL mode, I take it I'm supposed to use USB Active as the transport method, since MTTY won't recognize a device otherwise, and my phone just boots into Windows from that point.
When I try to run MTTY though, all it does is display "kITLª" over and over again...I'm not sure if that's normal, or even how to enter a prompt of some kind...
I'm starting to wonder if maybe I should just take it to the depot, pay the $75 I was quoted, and learn my lesson... :-/
Any other suggestions, or am I just totally doing what you suggested wrong?
You do not need to enter KITL because this is used to debug your WM build using Platform builder
Just try to put your device to botloader mode and then use MTTY to instruct the bootloader what to do, or just reflash radio and then new rom
Hello,
I wanted to upgrade my operating system on my XDA II but to do that i need to use the power button but on my phone the button is broken, is there any way to get to the serial screen such as a freeware program i can run or another way of doing it?
There is a video somewhere here in WM5 or WM6 to show you how to upgrade.
It´s here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=370752
