My Phone's Mic has suddenly stopped working. Whenever I start Camera or Recorder App it usually stops working I have tried restarting the phone, after restarting it's starts working but then stops again. I can't use my mic for anything not even for calls. I have tried all the things on internet that can be done to resolve a mic issue. How can I solve this?

My focus is having audio issues when I make or receive phone calls. I can't hear the other person and they can't hear me. When I speak into the phone, the mic loops my voice back thru the phone headset. When I shutdown the phone, the first call made or recieved works perfectly but after that, it stops working. I have tried many codes to fix the audio and I have tried a soft and hard reset. I have tried everything I can. Has anyone else had this issue and knows how to fix it? Is this a case where the phone is just dead? Is there a way to reinstall the entire phone system? Everything else on the phones works perfectly. I love the phone and don't want to lose it.
I did have a similar problem if I am reading your post correctly. What happens is for some reason the phone can reroute the mic and through the speaker similar to speaker phone but doesn't function properly. The fix that I found is recalibrating the mic and speakerphone through the diagnosis app. I don't remember exactly what i did but I did fix it through the diagnosis app.
Go into your diagnosis app and test your speakers with a melody test make sure that they are all working.

I have gone in the diagnose program and tried many things and nothing seems to work. It seems that restarting the phone works but the second the first phone call is over, something happens and no other phone call can be heard and they can't hear me. I don't want to have to restart the phone everyy time I want to make a phone call. I am hoping someone can remember how they fixed this problem.
Hi, Well I had an issue after rooting and installing all my apps , So I did a factory install rooted and started installing the apps 1 by 1 and testing.
For me the issue was that if I was on a call and I pressed the speaker button my mic would stop working , even if i switched back , after extensive testing I found that every time that happend the only way to make my mic work again would be task killer or manually clearing and restarting the phone app. I know it sounds strange but for those of you who have the same problem, try it you will see that you dont even need to reboot in order for the mic to start working again, But why the dailer? I have searched a lot of forums and sites and no one else tried this, but it deos work. I tried soundAbout and changing the build prob to analog , no luck , I guess its a temp fix .
I dropped my phone in the toilet, so i tried to dry it out. It worked OK but I think the Mic suffers some issues. When calling someone he barely hear me. Therefor, I had to use Bluetooth Headphones. I'm not sure if I can replace the Mic?
nexus 4 MIC not work - all solutions listed
Randomly when I make calls or receive calls I have no sound. I can't hear them and they can't hear me. Rebooting the phone will fix the issue for a short while. I have been able to reproduce this by connecting to my cars blue tooth and making a call. The 1st call works however all calls after the first call I have no sound again. When the phone in the no sound state (Phone Call) Bluetooth media still works just no sound while in a call. The speakers work because I can play music and the mic still works because I can still record sound. This issue seams to be related to the phone app its self???
My phone is a Samsung S4 (AT&T) with Android 4.4.2 (Rooted via Towelroot) with SuperSU by chain-fire installed.
Here is some of the trouble shooting I have already done.
1. Factory Rest the Phone via Stock Recovery (Still can reproduce the issue)
2. Played around with various settings i.e. Google Now Bluetooth options. Un-paired all Bluetooth devices and then re-paired one to try (Still having same issue)
3. Cleaned out all app cache (Still having same issue)
4. Re-installed pre-installed apps that I removed once rooted.
Long story short, this one has be baffled. The only thing that fixes the issue is re-starting the phone.
Thanks in advance for any assistance

Same Problem Here, I may have figured it out:
After I rooted I used some apps to auto kill some running, supposedly non-essential apps. This caused my phone call problems, same exact issue as you're having. A reboot fixed it for me as well. I will let you know if it happens again without closing any apps.......
There is probably an answer to this problem somewhere already but I haven't managed to find one that solves it for me so I decided to open a thread here incase someone could help me before I rip my hair off.
The problem is that my voice is completely silent in the opposite end during a phone call but when I turn on speakerphone it works perfectly fine, it also works fine when I use a headset even if it doesn't have an own microphone. So this makes me think it's more of a software than hardware problem as the microphone is obviously working?
One thing that is so weird is that when I plug in a headset without a mic, everything works as it should, then when I pull out the headset it continues to work as it should, not only on speakerphone, even if I end the call and make a new one it still works but after a while the problem is there again.
What I've tried to do to solve the problem:
Factory reset twice
Updated to latest OS
Cleaned the holes
I'm forever grateful to the one who helps me solve this.
is there an solution?
Please help,
Samsung have returned my phone twice saying no fault found, but every time I make or receive a call there is no sound on the other end. The mic works for google search, video recording, voice recorder app etc, but as soon as I make a call no one can hear me at all. Any ideas welcome please before I end up selling it as faulty. Gutted and tearing my hair out!
Hey!
I have a similar issue with my S7. Microphone does not work only during the calls. Turning on speakerphone does not help (as it should when you have a broken bottom microphone) and also if I connect headset then the microphone from the headset works. In all other aps both (botom, top) microphones work (I do have stereo in video recording etc.). Did it happen to you after system update or when?
Cheers
A small update:
I have found that the issue is even more silly for me.
So I make a call and the person to whom I am calling cannot hear me. Then I connect a headphones, but ones without a microphone. And suddenly the microphone in the phone starts working. But the moment I disconnect them it stops.
Can you confirm this happening for you?
its old, but i have same problem. Now, I am trying to flash stock rom and see if it will work. After restart, I microphone works only once in call app, that it dont work. But i can record audio with it and in any other app it works. Idk what is the problem, but i want to find out
