Question Nothing phona and screen mirroring - Nothing Phone 1

my nothing phone1 connects in screen mirroring to a smart tv only if wifi is active.
The samsung a71, on the other hand, connects in screen mirroring even without wifi, and data connection. Why not nothing?

[Q] wifi connects but no data

I have searched the web and cannot find anything that works. I have the a500 and go to Penn State. My EVO 4G connects with the free wifi there with no problem but my tablet will not work.
My tablet will connect but the indicator on the bottom right that is normally blue will be gray. It will have both up and down arrows blinking but it stays gray and says it is connected.
I rooted my tablet and tried the adhoc patch but that didn't do anything to help. I have no problem connecting at home. I am currently using my evo as a wifi tether for the tablet while at school but it kills my phones battery. Is there anything else I can try?
my first move
First go into your wifi settings and forget the network settings - then try again.
If that does not work - contact the support people for the network you are trying to connect to.

Galaxy S5 hotspot question...

Is there a way to spoof my phone to make it appear to be on the network it's broadcasting when I have the hotspot turned on so that I can use screen mirroring? I want to be able to use it with my Roku 3 but when I try to enable screen mirroring I get the message telling me that the WiFi hotspot will be automatically turned off. Any ideas/solutions will be appreciated. Thanks.
u trying to screen mirror over the hotspot through your roku?
Yes, when I'm using my hotspot in my phone and try to turn on screen mirroring it automatically turns off the hotspot. Is there any way to avoid this?

Im on Acheron as of this moment, so it has the motorola tethering app through xposed. Maybe try that? Because I have had no issues with it or the stock tethering app.

As far as I know and understand, screen mirroring requires the use of the wireless nic (WiFi card) in your phone. I know Chromecast does this and I think AllShare cast also (as does Apple TV/AirPlay). That's just how the device communicates with the receiver... via the wireless network.
As long as hotspot is enabled, the wnic is in use and other services that rely on it wouldn't be able to use it.

Chromecast guest access?

Anyone able to get this to work on your turbo? I enabled it on both my chromecasts, but I can't see them if wifi is off... [emoji31]
Guest access sets up a direct wifi connection between the user's phone and the chromecast. You don't have to be on the same network but you have to have wifi on.
Edit: Actually, it appears that on initial setup, the Chromecast broadcasts an audio tone which the phone receives and then a wifi direct connection is established. Or it's magic. Not sure now.
I thought so too, but even with wifi on, it doesn't see them. (I removed my wifi so it didn't pick it up by default.) I am guessing it just won't work on the Moto phone... Like screen casting didn't on the maxx...
Got it. Need to make sure "scanning is always available" is turned on under wifi -> advanced.

Hotspot problem

I installed u930 firmware and got my hotspot working with the "dun" addin. On my s5 and in the past,I could turn on and it will pretty much stay on, if there is wifi data connection or not. This is very useful to me because I have a printer in my network that I need access to pretty much all the time. With my new s7 however I can only connect if there is a relatively strong wifi data signal. If there is no wifi the hotspot resets and will not turn on, leaving my printer useless and off line. Is there a work around here, or something I can do about this?

Hotspot won't enable

Introduction:
I have a carrier free s7 not rooted (SM-G935U, android 6.0.1) and have loved the tethering feature. I especially use it while traveling to share the hotel Wi-Fi to other devices. For example, my phone registers on the hotel Wi-Fi and then shares the internet using the hotspot feature to my kindle. I have had no problems whatsoever until today. I have T-Mobile and hotspot won't work for wifi sharing or cell sharing. It doesn't turn on at all.
Symptoms:
When I attempt to turn on tethering using settings-> hotspot and tethering, it receives my selection, "thinks" about it, and then reverts to it being turned off. Sometimes it briefly has the hotspot notification appear.
Attempted fixes:
Disabled/enabled wifi, mobile data, airplane mode, smart view (though no tv's were available to cast). Restarted phone multiple times, including safe mode. Deleted system cache. Reset APN settings.
Theory:
The problem did arise shortly after trying to turn on smart view (the tv it turns it was a "dumb" tv, so it didn't work). I'm wondering if somehow smart view set a flag that interferes with mobile hotspot (since they are mutually exclusive features). This might not be the case because I haven't had troubles in various situations where I've used smart view before.
Any tips on how I can get this to work? I hate logging into the internet on multiple devices every time I switch hotels. I'd rather not reflash the phone but I could root if necessary. Thanks, y'all are really helpful.
