Hotspot problem - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

I installed u930 firmware and got my hotspot working with the "dun" addin. On my s5 and in the past,I could turn on and it will pretty much stay on, if there is wifi data connection or not. This is very useful to me because I have a printer in my network that I need access to pretty much all the time. With my new s7 however I can only connect if there is a relatively strong wifi data signal. If there is no wifi the hotspot resets and will not turn on, leaving my printer useless and off line. Is there a work around here, or something I can do about this?

Wi-fi not working

After connecting to 3 different wireless connections and none of then working, I'm concluded that my wifi isn't working.
I go to settings and check wifi on, it finds the network, connects, but I lose my entire data connection for the duration wifi is turned on!
Is anyone else having this problem?
Sent from my Samsung Vibrant
I'm having the same issues with the wifi. I downloaded wifi analyzer to make sure I was on a good channel. Set it to the best channel and my signal strength is 100%. I will be able to connect for a little bit but for some reason it goes in and out, connection unsuccessful, yada yada yada. I messed with all the troubleshooting solutions for my router (dgl-4300) but nothing works. If anyone can reply with a fix or point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.
Same Issues
Any help is greatly appreciated. Data working fine when on 3G but Wifi = no data. Connection is fine, IP is fine.
UPDATE: It's working again on my home WIFI. Will have to see if it's just an "at work" issue. Hopefully IT can assist.
Same problem with Verizon MiFi
I have had ZERO problems connecting to the Linksys access points we have setup at my home and my office, but recently my work provided me with a Verizon MiFi (as well as an iPad - don't hate ) and I've had MANY issues trying to get my Vibrant to consistently connect to the MiFi.
My iPad, Motorola Droid, and Laptop have no issues connecting to the MiFi.
On my Vibrant I'm running the 2.1 stock ROM with root & the latest ClockWork recovery.
It will "connect" to the MiFi (I use quotes because I can't really tell - it AT LEAST receives an IP). But I'm unable to send and receive data. I can't even browse to the MiFi's internal configuration page .
To FINALLY get it to connect consistently I have to do some kind of random combo toggling the wifi off and back on and then turning the MiFi off and back on and it will EVENTUALLY connect and stay connected with data flowing freely.
I've customized my configuration a little bit on the MiFi so I'm going to reset it back to factory and not change the config to see if it makes a difference - because at lunch I was able to connect to my boss' MiFi with no problem. I'm thinking it may either be the phone or the mifi...
I've connected to about 10 different wireless networks with NO issues, at all. The connectivity is actually much better than my G1/Nexus.
HOWEVER, last night at a bar I was connected to their wifi, strong signal, but I was not able to use Data. I was in a very poor reception area for T-Mobile... don't think that could be an issue, bit the other places I use wi-fi that is not the case.
I just chalked it up as a fluke and moved on. Not sure what was wrong.
I had this happen to me today. I just rebooted and it went away. Toggling wifi didn't help, but I only tried it once. The phone reboots so quick I figured I'd give it a try.
I have set the phone up manually with static ip. Seems like its a problem with the dhcp.

wifi hotspot and edge on mtg4

so, I am running 100% stock mtg4 on tmo. I just acquired a 1st refurb iPad yesterday that has work flawlessly with the mtg4 hotspot. However, my building at work only let's me have edge. when I enabled hotspot while on edge, the ssid won't show on my iPad nor other devices around the office. but as soon as I walk outside and get hpsa, my phone broadcasts the ssid and all is well.
is there any reason why hotspot would disable itself if all that is available is edge? I have been using PDA Net tethering my laptop occasionally over edge, and other than being slow it worked.
so, I am infer in the native hotspot code most be disabling itself if the phone is on edge...
any other people notice this behavior?
I can't speak for stock, but ...
Should you elect to root your phone and use a custom ROM, I can confirm that CM7's WiFi tethering works fine while on an EDGE connection. Where I work, EDGE is the only possible service, and I have the phone toggled 2G only when there to save battery.

[HELP] Data activates when wifi signal is low

So, in my house I have 2 wifi signals, one from the router, and, on the other side of the house, the powerline repeater, when I move from one side of the house to another, and the signal from the hotspot I'm connected to becomes low, my s4 decides on its own to just turn on cellular data, before, still on its own, connecting to the other hotspot, the one near it (this is normal in kk though), why does it activate data on its own? Can you help me fix it?
(S4 i9515 running KitKat 4.4.2 I9515XXU1ANI3)
Switching to mobile data when it can't pick up WiFi is normal behavior. About the only way to stop the behavior is to shut off mobile data, which should be possible through the settings. There are apps on the Play Store that provide an easy access toggle that you might find useful.

That is if the 3g was turned on, though, what is does is it turns on the data, even though I had turned it off, and that is not normal in any version of android
I have an extender that provides wifi to our back yard. When I go from in the house to the back, I need to turn off wifi then turn it on again for connection to work. I get same IP. When I go into the house I again have to turn off and on the wifi. This only happens on my phone with lollipop. Has happened with several different firmwares. This does not happen on my wife's S4 that still has kitkat or on my S Advance with Jellybean. Beginning to think it is a bug in 5.0.1 and curious if anyone else experiences this..
Puzzled.

WiFi only works if I activate my hotspot and then scan for networks. Please help.

Ok, so just as the title states I am having trouble with my AT&T Unlocked S7 Edge model SM-G935A
What happens is if I try to turn on my WiFi it starts looking for networks but it wont show any, it'll just keep spinning looking for them.
I know its not an antenna problem because if I go to my hotspot and turn it on, then go back to WiFi settings and turn my wifi on it will work as normal. Then I can turn my hotspot off and keep using the WiFi.
So antenna is OK. But its a pain in the A to do this everytime I want to connect to a wifi network. Specially considering it should just work.
I am running Android Nougat. Any suggestions?
Thank you!

[Problem] Wifi Hotspot without internet connection

Since the last official update I'm always having problems when I turn on my wifi hotspot to use my other phone with the Zenfone Zoom Data.
When I turn it on it doesn't work, my connected devices show "no connection" when connected to the wifi hotspot, I manage to get it working always swearing while I reset the wifi and data settings, I turn on and off the data and the wifi hotspot. Sometimes I have to go to the VPN and re-tap on the correct VPN in use (that is already selected) and then the connection will stat working on my connected devices. Often I have to repeat those steps many times.
The other weird thing is that when I'm using the Zoom S as wifi hotspot, the connection on the phone itself stop working. It works only on the connected devices.
Never had those problems with previous android phones I had (several Nexus, a Note 3 and an Ulefone Power). I use the wifi hotspot really often since I still use my Note 3 and this is really frustrating.
EDIT Maybe I posted this in the wrong section. My mistake sorry. If some mod can move this I'll be glad.
try adding ",dun" to the access point types under the APN settings. I had a similar issue that fixed it.
Last week I used my Asus 3 Zoom to give my laptop internet by Wifi hotspot. Worked flawlessly.
