Chinese letters and code 9880, display is not responsive (closed) - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Dear community. My phone displays Chinese symbols and code 9880. It is not responsive to any operations. I tried to reset it by holding the power button and power button in combination with the volume button. Nothing works. Is there a fix?

The screen says "Format data partition
Please enter the verification code: 9880"
Have you tried entering 9-8-8-0? It will probably wipe your data but hopefully your device will be useable again...

Was the first thing I tired, nor screen neither buttons are responsive

Advice with power keys and the present hold the volume down in the power key together once you see your logo let go of the power key keep your finger on the volume down until you see a recovery menu it should have three languages pop up use the volume key to scroll down to English pressed power key to enter

Touch HD Hard Reset

The proscribed method of pressing both up and down volume bar (while PDA is off) and then briefly pressing the power button doesn't produce the desired result.
Is there a programatical way of achieving this, please?
TIA
John
Try this, it may work:
Touch HD Clear Storage
You can also use Clear Storage to reset your device back to factory default settings.
1. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap All Settings.
2. On the System tab, tap Clear Storage.
3. Enter “1234” and then tap Yes.
I would check the buttons work then. I have used this method and it does work. Turn the phone off, long press on the power, yes to turn off. Then hold both volume buttons down, press the power button (keeping the volume buttons pressed).
When the boot screen appears you can let go of the volume butons.
Or use the clear settings above ;-)

I think the trick is to BRIEFLY press
the power button while keeping both
up and down volume buttons pressed.

[GUIDE] Boot Key Combinations A501

There is a lot of info about key combinations for boot modes, but all of them are either incomplete, wrong or do not clearly state which button is VolumeUp and which VolumeDown. I want to clarify this in a small thread.
Put the tablet in front of you, so the power button is top left. Now we've got the following modes:
Factory Reset - Hold power and right volume button - works?
Update from sd/update.zip - Hold power and left volume button - works
Recovery - Hold power and left volume button - ???
APX - Attach to PC and hold power and reset button - works, display stays off?
Some people state that it is important how to set the the screen lock switch. Is that true?
Could someone please add the info which of the volume buttons increases and decreases volume?
I am not sure about the recovery mode. Does it replace the update mode if TWRP or CWM is installed?

External Factory Reset of G5 Plus Amazon Edition

My grandmother bought this phone and somehow set up a pattern unlock before I could help her get the phone set up. Now, of course, she doesn't remember doing this or what the pattern could possibly be. I can fastboot and get to the "no command" screen but I haven't been able to figure out a way actually launch recover mode so I can do an external factory reset.
I have already tried the following to enter recovery mode from no command:
Hold the power button and press the volume up button.
Press the Power button once.
Press volume up for 10 seconds and then just tap power button once and release both.
Press volume up for 15 secs and then press the power button.
Please help!!!
