Saw that as well. This is a huge bug since majority of the people use LTE while using navigation.

Is now on tap working with the newest build?

Having issues connecting to my wifi network. It connected and couple of seconds later disconnects. It says connection failure.

Someone check stagefreight detector

Enhanced data switch is back when on Project FI. Its not there in the current 5.1.1 builds.

Permissions check is working. What I mean is that an app will ask you to allow or deny permissions when if first attempts to do something. Example: I went to download something on Chrome and I received a prompt asking me to allow or deny chrome access to my music, videos, and files.

How many threads do we need for this? There is already a discussion thread.

Will Huawei send nougat OTA or do I have to download it?

I'm not seeing any traditional update software options in the about phone section. How will we receive Android OS updates on this tablet? Thanks.

Well it seems in the moment there just are no updates...
Normally you should get your update via ota (you should see an update option in your "main menu"), except for beta/leaked versions, if they should leak anyhow/anytime...
For now, there are no leaked or official updates for our mediapad m3 :-/

If you Google nougat for Huawei mediapad M3 there are several sites that claim they have the download you can Flash
The only thing in the about phone setting I can find about updates is updating the emui

As I know the update emui menu will also update your android (for example to android 7 + emui 5.0).
I know these sites, but as long as I do not see a link hier on xda, on the huawei news pages or on the huawei homepage itself I think these links are just nonsense.
(For example some of these pages just link every phone available and say "download XXXXX android 7 here"... I would not try to install these... But I also suppose you won't get a real package anyway there.)

Rally don't know if we ever see 7.0 for the M3.
The M2 never received 6.0, and what I heard is that Huawei just doesn't give a fu** about tablet software.

Huawei generally doesn't give a fu** about software updates. My Mediapad X2 GEM 701 never received an update. That's why I had to undergo a hugely complex updating procedure with chinese ROMs modified sh1t.

I just got the new update with October patch. They removed the navigation bar too.

How did you get this patch for your m3? Mine can not find any updates...

Chinese version only perhaps?

Actually it's the September security patch,but I got a notification in the update section. About 256mb. Took about 20 min to complete. I bought my tablet in Thailand.

I think that the NOUGAT OTA will be sent together with the new EMUI 5.0 (this version of its ui layer is based on android 7)... Anyone know an approximate date?

Correct,also it said better chrome operation,so maybe people that had problems running chrome in small format ,now can. I always had mine set in medium text and didn't have a problem. There were other things it said ,basic improvements,etc... I can't really notice any change other than the ability to disable the new buttons. Which like I said ,disables the ability to start split screen. Unless someone can tell me how to do NB it with only the fingerprint scanner......I'm also running Nova free launcher.
Plainly,this tablet is sick as F. I'm coming from a wifi only Xperia z3tablet compact though...... the only reason I bought this just because the camera Hardware had a malfunction on the Sony.

Haha haha,
Yes in a very good way. It's heavier than the z3 compact,and no water resistance,but it's smooth ,fast,and the LTE connectivity is incredible. I always have 5 bars of 4g. Now ,I live in Thailand,and the internet is crap here compared to the USA,so in the states it's probably even better. It was half the cost of a normal flag ship phone too,and it's basically a huge phone. It comes with a screen protector and a case,however the case is Carmel color and hard to look at,but it's growing on me. This tablet charges very fast too.
If your on the fence,buy it for sure.

That will be awesome. It's hard to think of this tablet being any better,and to think I almost bought a galaxy tab s2 for $70 more..,..glad I didn't.

Do you have the original Chinese rom in it? Did it come with Google play installed? Someone mentioned touchscreen issues on another thread here, do you have any issues as such? Thanks for all the information

Yes it came with playstore installed. I have no other issues. It's much better than I thought it would be.

As far as I read not all CPUs are conform with Android 7.0. The M2 has one of them. The CPU of the M3 is conform so i hope we will see the update soon.

Joying Intel Sofia Head Unit, please help a noob with a few questions.

Hi all,
Firstly would like to say thanks to all the joying users here. There are some great things you guys are doing, excited to own one of these units and learning/fiddling more everyday. Sick of buying high end expensive head units with boring features. Android all the way!
I have four questions I am struggling with.
1. I need a simple guide to root my device, I honestly have no idea what I am doing.
2. I want to know how to change read only system permissions to read/write permissions so I can add the red white radio apk and the no kill server apk as I tried to copy themover yesterday and they wouldnt copy due to read only permissions.
3. I noticed a user here has managed to change the SRC (source) order of applications to add pandora, spotify etc. My go to player has been VLC on the Joying due to my music library being close to 2tb, its the only app that doesent **** itself when scanning my hdd for folders/files.
I want to make my own list of SRC (source) apps I can scroll through. Is this possible for a noob?
4. Tom Tom App. Why doesent it work? I cant really find a nav app that runs well wothout internet connection. Tried a fair few. CoPilot I enjoyed the most but you need data at the start of your trip to calculate the trip.

I have had this unit for a couple of months now and all of a sudden the lcd just goes blank after a few minutes. If I swipe the screen it still goes to the next song so I know the touch functionality works…. I have a feeling the hardware is faulty. What is my next step
Fyi obviously I have checked the screen always on settings etc… they are set to on always.

The unit is in the title. Not the exact unit but that family… I am sure the issue I mentioned will be down to the same reason on any of these units

No, sorry. I meant that it always was a hardware issue, but maybe yours is not. I do not have a solution. You can also look at the official forum.carjoying.com as your issue has been mentioned there as well by others, with the same outcome: hardware related.

Now its not coming on at all. Well at least I can still listen to music until this is sorted. My steering wheel controls still work lol.
I assume I get a year warranty with this damn thing?

Your sympthoms are like LCD hardware issue. I had same issue with my Rk3188 MTCD and i finlly had to take it back to china for replacement (mine was not joying).
Contact Joying and record video to send it to them to speed up the decision of sending it back
You are covered by warranty....but you will have to pay for the shipping to china

yes - i am already in talks with them.
they told me i have to get someone to solder the board. i told them that after 2 months I should not have to be soldering anything.
At the end of the day they should have a contact here in the UK who they can ask me to send it to who will solder the board.
if it is under warranty i shouldnt have to pay a damn thing. I dont care that their warranty says i am responsible for returning the item. i am pretty sure the law states that after 2 months for it to go faulty that is not a reasonable amount of tim and why should the buyer have to incur any fees or costs. Not to mention being without a damn stereo for a few weeks while its in bumblef**k.

Speaking of screens why not just attempt to acquire a better Touch screen using the same ribbon cable and upgrade it. I have been seriously considering it. Next time I'm in Shenzhen I will hunt one down. ?

Android Auto

So Huawei devices have been having a lot of problems with Android Auto, the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro inclusive. They cannot connect and leave the screen in the car black after a connection attempt has been made.
Huawei is working on this and it should be fixed in OTAs, which some users of other devices reported to be the case for them.
Since I'm stuck on the European version C432, I haven't gotten any OTAs since B156. Is anybody on newer firmwares able to test if the problem has been solved for them?

I used funky Huawei. No ota love for Swedes using a Mate 9 from Germany. There is a new way though that you could try if you want...

Yeah, it's great news. Doesn't seem to work for the Mate 9 Pro yet, since it doesn't have a SD card. But there must be a way around this.
Hope updating to newer firmware will fix the problems with Android Auto, since this is my biggest concern with this phone.

No problems whatsoever for me either. Mine works perfectly.
However, when I had my Note 4 I had to jump through a lot of hoops to get it to work. It took weeks of investigation and trial and error. It's simply a very inconsistent app. And from my experience, type of car and google services version play as much of a role as your phone's firmware does. Visit any other phone sub forum if you need proof of that. It gives problems on all phones.

Actually, once AA refused to connect. Only way to fix it was to redownload and reinstall Android Auto. Make sure you're on the latest version too.
It didn't leave the screen black though, just refused to connect.
Latest is 2.2.710804, and you should probably get the arm64 version.
I had to get it from apkmirror as it's not released in Sweden yet.
I guess it's worth a shot to reinstall/update.

Oh.. then it doesn't make sense.. might still be the case, as I have the Mate 9 Pro.

Any change? Just got a vw golf with android auto and am mega frustrated. Black screen because the phone keeps switching from USB data using mtp to USB charge only.

Check for updates says there isn't one.

You can and are supposed to use charge only for Android Auto, not mtp.

Some advice on new launcher for my headunit

So i got this head unit cheap its 10inch its got 4 cores and 4gbs of ram etc dont know the details..
anyone thing came from China so it has some software Android launcher that is chinese..i did manage to install my navigation and some other stuff
Well in short.
What it takes to replace current launcher with something better.
I have now 2 usb ports,bluetooth music and calls,navigation, and other fun stuff
i want to keep all of that but take some newer launcher like some that seeks radio stations automatically since this one doesnt and its annoying since i travel a lot and every time i lose a signal i have to scroll till a find a good one.. any help and advice is appreciated.

I dont know how to get on on Play Store...since this android is chinese and it doesnt have Google...
and i want to remove the current launcher and install complete new one..so i dont know how play store app can help me when i need new system :/

You are not talking about a 40-bucks-unit right?
You won´t get any new system anywhere.
You are not able to remove the current launcher.
If this freaking unit has no play store you should search in Google for any alternative. There are a lot.
FCC Car Launcher is available here on XDA. Just some threads below. This is a form to help yourself, nothing else. You need to read and study yourself.
Open the settings in your unit and give the needed information by screenshots.

No offense. Throw this rubbish, this is a very lousy device that will not work properly.
While you are saving money for a normal Android radio, you can learn how to create launchers for yourself. So, as it will be convenient and to your taste. A very famous program that can do a lot in building interfaces for Android devices - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ss.launcher2&hl=en There are already ready-made solutions for this program, there are additional applications with which you can realize your most secret fantasies. Not advertising, but from personal experience. Once I was carried away very cool it turned out. :good:

Sorry to say, but these 80 bucks are wrong invested money. Try to get rid of it.
There are a lot or MTK8227 units on the market which are able to get a bit tuned, but I think as this MCU version is completely unknown to me, it´s lost time for you to keep on trying anything.
There is nothing anyone can do with it, just keep it as is, or use it as radio in your garage.

This thing was from Ali express on black friday from 80usd down to 55 i think...well i have this car that i drive around and i wanted an option for usb and bluetooth music and navi..all at once...my original car radio was with navi but only aux...
so 55usd was a risk i was willing to take...its a shame i cant install something else on it. instead of this chinese ok looking program that has this voice commands,and it comes on random like once in every few hours and says something on chinese and thats it...i translated it to be like "i didnt hear that,say it louder"
so i just want to remove that stupid app and have a normal radio with usb ports and navi ...
But thanks anyway bros... and its not an offense its a ****ty radio for 55usd that works fine..it wasnt supposed to be NASA Super computer... it does what it needs and it does it good
