We had the unlocked bootloader warning in OOS 11 and it disappeared in OOS 12, it's now back in OOS 13.

Yes you can remove it if you flash the abl.img file from OOS12 via fastbootd. I have done that on my Firmware files for OOS13. Works without issues.

The OOS13 F13/F15 etc... abl.img have that warning message. If you want to remove it you need to flash the abl.img from OOS12 or OOS13 beta.
Thank you, I'll give OOS13Beta to Payload dumper and extract that from there.
Would be interesting to know what else is in abl.img and do some comparing with the images...

Would you mind sharing the abl.img?
only if it only contains general information to get rid of the warning message and nothing personal of course.

So this week i hadn't time enough to install the august update since my phone is rooted so i decided to do it now. What i did before trying to download the update :
1.Deleted all magisk modules that i had then rebooted
2.Unistalled magisk using restore image then rebooted
3.Went to sys update downloaded and it says installation failed
What do to? I'm not rooted now and i don't have twrp installed.
PS. don't want to install it via fastboot/miflash

If you don't want to use Miflash (Why ?) you can boot temporary TWRP and flash .zip here:

I have a T-Mobile device, which I converted to Global and finally installed a custom ROM. For any updates, I have to follow the same route - go back to T-Mobile, then global and then any other ROM. Can I use this utility to go back directly to Global from custom or would I still need to first flash T-Mobile ROM?

Technically, this process would be the same as a conversion. Just see if you need to backup any other extra partition, like persist.img or other.

Thanks -- I didn't notice it was an executable. I think I'm ready to go, but just checking. Here's what I've done so far with my T-Mobile version OnePlus 8:
1. completed process to unlock the bootloader (unlocked phone, got token, applied token)
2. set up fastboot in a directory on my Windows PC
3. ran the self-extraction on OnePlus8Oxygen_15.E.35_OTA_0350_all_2103221815-FASTBOOT
Now I'm going to run flash-all.bat. Before I do that, do I need to back up any files, e.g. modem files? Thanks!

Device - SM-A205FN.
Firmware - A205FNXXSACVB1.
Custom ROM - AospExtended-v9.0-a20-UNOFFICIAL-20220225-2212.
TWRP version - 3.6.1_9-0 [official].
I can’t install this ROM in any way, because when flashing into TWRP, error 1 pops up. I tried to clear various partitions and also deleted the first two lines of the updater-script file.

Should I try to lock and then unlock the bootloader back? I heard it clears partitions completely. By the way, in the TWRP tar-archive, not only custom recovery.img, but also custom vbmeta.img to bypass protection. Could this be causing error 1?

Well if you're worried about bricking it then before you start making modifications, be sure to have the latest msm for it on your PC, and also take a full backup using Orange Fox recovery, and also have the stock boot.img on your PC. And if anything goes wrong just flash the stock boot.img. And if that doesn't fix it then restore the backup, and if that still doesn't work then you'll have to do a complete restore using a msm tool

You did flash unmodified boot.img before trying to update? Well, honestly idk why it won't install. Maybe you should try a different method of installing the update, like manually installing it
