DMM high quality VR video (and 4k video) very lagging (look like drop fps). I don't know how to it happen. Like GPU can't handle but my Redmi Note 10 Pro playing well
I tested on youtube, AiywjdYcQ_s is the link, at 4k i cannot see any lag in the video, are you maybe watching a x265 video with high bitrate? As that would result in chuppy playback.
I tried a 4k x265 mkv in VLC(on this phone 12gb model) it was a sample with very good picture about 3 mins long running smooth, on TV it looked really good too.
High bitrate x265 files do lag but i don't have any for test.

I downloaded some 720p video trailers and downsampled them with ffmpeg to 2Mbps and I'm happy to say they played smooth and beautifully with the stock player and mVideoPlayer. Seeking was also very quick. I did try the trailers without any downsample (they were pretty high bitrate) but they wouldn't play, so I don't know if it was a bitrate issue or something else. Next test is 720p HDMI out as soon as I receive my type D cable from Hong Kong.
how's shooting 720p videos in the dark? Do the fps go down?
shooting 720p sucks ass and looks bad, i don't recommend it. plus it shoots in mpeg4/3gp format instead of h264/mp4 which is lame.
720p playback is all great and fun, but... will it play H264 Main/High profiles? As with my current nearly-dead Touch Pro I can only play H264 baseline profiles smoothly, Main/High profiles arent supported so CorePlayer has to use software rendering, which for 480p vid does only ~8fps

You can use mpeg4 or h264 in the settings.

I'm using rooted official 2.3 rom. when I play mkv 720p movies , video plays at lower frame rate than usual and problem in audio video sync. I use mx player and hardware decoder is not available for mkv. can please anyone suggest me some tips to play 720p smoothly. and is there hardware decoding available in new adreno driver in dzo ics for mkv?
I m using bsplayer lite tha supports mkv.
720p on nearly 480p device?
Professionals can correct me, there are few reasons why it won't play in full speed:
1) .mkv files need usually the same space as .mp4, but it has better quality. BUT needs more power to play. That is the disadvantage of matroska. So if there is too high bitrate on the video, it lags/wents off sync. Overclocking might help.
2) 720p??! Really? This phone CAN record 720p video with good fps, but only in good light conditions. You can even watch them (because they are so low-bitrate), but if you have like 720p movie, it lags due to high bitrate it needs to look clear. BUT why would you want to play 1280x720 (16:9 ) resolution video in 800x480 (16:10) resolution screen? Shapes will look odd... I would prefer 480p (854x480).
3) I'm guessing that your movie is on your memorycard? If your memorycard is too slow, can that be the reason for lagging too. This can be fixed with faster memorycard.
4) Switch to Moboplayer. I don't have any experience of mxplayer, but Moboplayer can use hardware decoding for that.
Is anyone able to playback 720p videos on the x9500? Mine plays with huge frame lag...
I noticed this randomly today while I looked some details of my videos. Are they actually 60fps or is MXPlayer showing the framerate wrong? Some older videos show 30fps but newer ones are 60fps. See the images below:
I believe MX player info are wrong. This also happened to me and I was like, this is too good to be true.
Upload the videos to your computer and use a better software like MediaInfo. It'll give you the correct framerates.
I have no option to play 1080p 60fps videos on YouTube.
Normal 1080 works fine .
Just realized this now that you mentioned it. 720p60 works great, but I rarely get the option to crank up to 1080p. And when I do, I can't watch 60 FPS on either resolution. Really odd.
I can play 1080p 60 fps on tube mate app
